Goga Bill Lake Katihar in Katihar

Feeling very calm....

My husband, who is from Katihar, tells me its one of the biggest wetlands in Bihar. But it is not maintained well. The road leading to the lake is less road and more potholes. There is no sitting arrangement near the lake. Not even small benches. Hardly anyone goes there.It can be developed as a major tourist place but right now its a neglected lake.

Lush green area around the lake, needs attention from government to develop it as tourist site. Distance from Manihari is 6-7 km but public transport is not available, take your own transport or reserve a vehicle from Manihari. No public utilities at the site. There are tribal villages around. Remote location from Katihar district HQ. Birds can be watched at the lake. Overall beautiful place.

The is actually was a part of Ganga River in past but at present it is cutout from Ganga river but water spread in large area create a good aquatic ecosystems and very favorable place for foreign Birds who migrated here form part of the world and spend month here you can watch them easily.It is good place to visit only for Bird lover who likes watching Birds.But unfortunately local Government nothing did for the development of tourism here if you plan to visit here you will find nothing here even a single bottle of water.No any Bird watch tower,place to sit and relax nothing here.also it not a pace to visit with family as it is very Dangerous place in evening as local Goons and thief are comman here. So be care full to visit here only visit in Day time only.

Gogabil Lake (Birds ViharIt is located in Amdabad block of Katihar district.This lake is spread over 214.04 acres. You can go here by your personal vehicle. It is about 6 kilometers from Manihari bus stop. Gogabil Lake is famous for its natural beauty and birds watching. Every year thousands of Birds from different countries come to travel in the winter season. You can see many types of birds like Asian Openbill, Greater Adjutant, Lesser Adjutant, Common Kingfisher, Great Cormorant etc.We can see in this place many types of aquatic animals and birds. Best time of visit monsoon and winter season.

There was absolutely nothing to watch. I drove around 40Km to visit this place and all I got is disappointment. Well, I heard Bihar govt is working towards betterment of that place. Hopefully the place will become tourist attraction point once beautification is done.

there are various species of bird present here whatever it may be from the South they hibernate

Bihars 1st Community Reserve(protected area), an Ox-bow lake. Species- Lesser adjutanat,black necked stork, White Ibis, White eyed pochard. also it is Important Bird area of India along with neighbouring Baghar beel and Baldia Chaur.

Good tourists place in bihar

Calm and beautiful place. I visited here for a short time but the time which I spent here was precious. It has better connectivity of roads. Take some snacks, a group of friends and go to this place and have unlimited fun. The government should arrange boating facilities here.

Perfect place for picnic with families nd home for thousands of foreign birds migrating specially from Russia & South Africa during the month of February and a beautiful view all over the surrounding area.

it is one of the very good visiting place in bihar katihar distic but our goverment is not inproving the area and even the govent is not developing the area for visiters is is the only area in bihar where birds from other countey come to india in bihar katihar in winter season

Dont dare to go with a car

You van find varieties of local birds as well as migrant birds like storks in this area. A good variety of fishes are also present in the lake. It is a just a few kilometers from manihari railway station and bus stand. It needs more attention from government ans tourists as this is highly underrated place for bird watching in india.

The lake views is good but the water of the lake has gone down due to this it is loosing its beauty
