Our Kathmandu valley is surrounded by hills and beautiful small villages. That is why we have many destinations that we can choose to feel the fresh air of refreshing nature. Marble Dada is one such short hiking destination where you will walk into the lush green forest with a narrow path.The hilltop got its name after a Marble Factory that was established long ago, which now is not in operation. Since the building still lies there, and the spot is known by the factory, the hike up to the hilltop is also called MARBLE Dada.

Have been visiting the place for 7 years now. And the change i see now is huge the roads are developed in fact just visited a week ago and did not had any issue in travel. I love the fresh air and locality of godavari.

Godavari, extravaganza of thousands of birds and plants is best known for the green fingers of its inhabitants. Ten kilometers away from Kathmandu, Godavari is one of the popular hiking destinations in Nepal for its rich wildlife and splendid environment. The heavy woodland and the slopes there are adventurous and challenging for a hiker.Godavari Botanical Garden, at the bottom of Pulchoki Mountain attracts many local residents and visitors over the weekends. The garden is an spectacle of trees, orchids, ferns, flowers and plants. Godavari is also home to many rare butterflies, several flowing streams, and one-third of all the bird species in Nepal.

As I live in city where I can only see vehicle, building, road and dust. This is the place very I mostly visit for refreshments and to be close to nature. Its easily accessible from langankhel where there are lot of microvans and buses to reach and is very near if someone is from Kathmandu or Lalitpur valley. Its place consists lots of trees and suitable for small hiking trips. Botanical garden is also very near from it. I have to say its one of the most easily accessible forest for the urban community.

At the top of the hill, there is a good place to stay overnight and BBQ. But be careful

Very beautiful place to organise one day hike and climb to the temple. If lucky you may see some peackocks and monkeys. There are amazing panoramas on the top and a view over Kathmandu.

Beautiful, natural sub-tropical forest in a beautiful location. For bird watchers, cyclers, hikers a perfect destination in an accessible distance from Patan Durbar Square (8km South). Many hikers confuse the way if not followed the main route. The climb up to the forest to reach Fulchoki hill(2700m will give you a majestic view of panoramic mountain range.

Phulchowki is the highest point around Kathmandu valley and has a height of 2791 meters. One can hike to this hill or reach there by jeep and see the whole of the valley spread before you. Rhododendrons of different colors, including pure white and dark red, grow here.

Very peaceful and calm place. It is a good thick forest and the air is filled with sounds of birds chirping. If you are going in a group you can take the trail through the forward however if you are alone it is recommended to stick to the main road.

Godavari Forest East Side situated at the foot of Phulchoki, at an altitude of approximately 5000 feet above sea level, and 14 km west of Panauti. The road of Panauti city (9 kmpasses through the small scenic Newari town where people still hang chillies and onions on their windows.the garden is landscaped over 72 hectares of land. Over 500 species of plants can be found in the various gardens. The peak flowering seasons in the garden fall in spring and in autumn. The coming of spring is indicated by the bloom of Rhododendron arboretum, the national flower of Nepal, and the dramatic appearance of a number of colorful flowers in the garden beds and the surrounding forests. The gardens are also the dwelling place for butterflies, Godavari area being the reservoir for hundreds of species, Maps and plant listings are available at the gate. A small admission fee is charged. The gardens are open from 9 am to 5 pm during Spring, Summer and Autumn and 10 am to 4 pm during winter months.

Besides hiking you can ride a bike and cycling could be the best ride to visit godawari forest. This is dense forest.this place is also famous for the photography and videography. If you are the students of botany then this place could be the open book for you. This place is also famous for the one day hike. And most of the schools students were taken here for outing. You can go for picnic also. There will be festival called godawari Mela in every 12 years. This is one of the historic, religious and touristic place.

Godavari Forest is 30-hectare woodland which is managed by local people . It provides a haven for 300 species of birds and loads of picnickers. Beside this its a great place near Kathmandu for hiking, family outing and getting refreshed. You can get a busy easily to there but its usually crowded at evening during holidays

Just one request is that when u are done with eating and whatever, just clean the place and take the wrappers and bottles and waste together with u and dump it in the nearest dustbin which should be in the godavari bus station

A very peaceful and pristine place on the outskirt of Kathmandu . One will feel very tranquil and the greenery , flowers and different species of birds is very soothing. One can visit a Botanical garden and surrounding villages or to Kotdadha for excellent view of Kathmandu . Pulchowki hill (2790mstands the tallest hill in the valley and a days hike to the top is just thrilling.

It is a beautiful place with dense forest. It is also a religious place as well. It has the highest point of Kathmandu valley. One must visit this place in their life time as far as possible. It has a smooth road access

One of the forest with many varieties of vegetation and best place for hiking, cycling and spending time with the nature. Most of the forest is occupied by the pine trees and it is the place for different types of birds as well. So if you are willing to spend the peaceful time and get away form the dust n dirt of the urban area, this is the place to be which is just 7-8km away from the ring road.

If you live in kathmandu and want to leave the hustle and bustle for a day to enjoy nature, probably go here. Or hike from Godavari to Fulchowki is even better. It will talk you 3-4 hours to reach the top. Start the hike from early morning 6-7 am if possible.

This was a common picnic venue in my school life . I changed about 4 schools and they all organized picnic here :. I liked to be there all the time . Its a quick escape from Kathmandu (busy, noisy and pollution). Greenery , Cool clean air and free flowing water stream . This is amazing .
