Glenelly Estate in Noorder-Paarl

This wine farm is close to town and offers truly beautiful views. It has a lot of potential. Somehow it just lacks that animating energy and life that you would like to experience on a Friday afternoon. At the time we were the only visitors tasting wine. There is however a real authentic charm from the farm life that unfolds on the fields before you. With a tractor in the distance and birds chirping as they dance between tree branches, the sun setting beautifully behind them. Service was friendly and the wines were presented adequately. I very much enjoyed the 2014 Lady May. There are also very affordable tasting options. There is a manned safety gate at the main entrance and semi covered parking bays. The gardens and grounds are beautifully kept and well maintained. The glasses were unfortunately not very clean, and had cloudy marks that I presume were left by a dishwasher. On paper this should be a great experience and has all the potential, but it missed the 4th star from me and is some ways away from a 5th. It might be worth a return visit sometime during a more lively time of day.

As expected, the restaurant is very good, and the outdoor seating offers an excellent view across the vineyards. All the serving staff were friendly and very helpful. I would have given this establishment 5 stars expect for the main dishs presentation. However, what the main dish lacked in presentation was made up by the taste. My only suggestion is that given that status of this wine farm, that more attention is given to the presentation of the main dish. That aside, the wine farm hosts a very interesting glass collection stretching back to the Roman era. The curator was a fountain of information regarding the glassware history. We certainly will return to the wine farm.

Stunning setting on the Hydro road when you enter Stellenbosch. Old Italian family bought the farm and has been making robust wine. Also has a stunning glass museum with artist like Salvador Dali beneath the restaurant

What an experience. Take the time to tour the cellar and barrel room and dont just do a wine tasting, the food at the Vine Bistro is out of this world! In my husbands words "I never want this plate of food to end". Just the most incredible flavours.

Ive had the pleasure of visiting Glenelly 4 times over 4 years, and it is definitely one of the best all-round wine farms (for wine, view, atmosphere and servicein the Stellenbosch area!

Great venue and good wines

Not a red SA wine fan, but Glenellys wine estate has a great one under their wings: Lady May. Superb! Also to recommend is their haute cuisine restaurant, esp. the bouillabaise. Bit expensive but certainly one of the best.

We had the most amazing experience. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The wine and cheese platters are also fantastic and the view is surreal. One of the best wine estates I have been to in a long time!

Absolutely beautiful wine farm, love the way the restaurant looks out onto the hills of vines.We tried the wine tasting and enjoyed the experience with a knowledgeable wine server. Liked that we were able to customize the tasting to specific wines. Wine tasting on classic selection is R10 a bottle and on the reserve R40 for two vintages of the same cultivar and then the Premier selection is R50.Stand out wine was the Cab Franc and Chardonnay.When you order a case of wine they do free delivery anywhere is SA. Also tasting fee is waived depending on what you buy and quantity.Do recommend to visit and maybe have lunch at their beautiful restaurant. Also beautiful mountain views as with most farms in this area.

Welcoming beautiful and accomplished service in a stunning setting. Food is excellent in French traditions with local providers. Wine is exceptional.

Very disappointed compared to previous visits. Staff were extremely unfriendly, border line rude, one chap, Bronwyn, in particular. Wine tasting handled very shoddily and cheese platter nothing special at all. Normally buy a ton of wines when we visit. Not this time and dont see me returning in a hurry. Luckily lots more estates to choose from for eg. Spier - they offer far better wine, wonderful staff and sumptuous platters.

Beautiful wine estate on the outskirts of Stellenbosch.The medium rare Wagyu Beef was delicious! So too were the wines! For R805 you become a wine club member and get 6 bottles of great wine!The Glass Museum was exquisite.

We had the best work function there for our members! They where extremely friendly and professional and their wines are fantastic!

First wine tasting experience here, wasnt that impressed with wine itself. Views are amazing. One would not think this wine estate behind a neighborhood has such great views.Apparently has to book in advance for more than 4 people. They made exception for us (5 people)Would recommend this estate advertise a bit, first time in 5 years I hear about it and its definitely one visit worth.

Stunning place. This beautiful estate definitely should up their marketing. It is a hidden gem. But won’t find it through your own exploring. Wine tasting is average. And must make a booking for 4+ people. Which is a bit stiff. Overall nice experience.

Very well trained professional and friendly staff.

We phoned at 14:44 to find out about the wine tasting. We were told that the wine tasting ends at 17:00. We then asked about pairing options. Pairing options were not provided, however we were told that we can order platters for the table. It was not stipulated that the platter option ends at 15:00. We drove 45 minutes to get here only to be told that the kitchen has closed. Why could we not have been told when we phoned that the kitchen closed at 15H00? Absolutely dissapointing. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

This place caught me by complete surprise. Im not usually a fan of a set menu, but this one was on point.

Great wine sales knowledge and tact, no mention of paying for the tasting prior to being introduced to the wines and being offered mineral water gratis. The vine restaurant looks perfect for a medium sized gathering. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Paved drive to the tasting rooms. Clean and well maintained facilties. Beautiful vistas of the surrounds. Can recommend the Lady May wine!
