Denkmalstrasse 4, 6006 Luzern, Switzerland, Luzern
Local history museum with ice age glacier exhibits, 19th-century mirror maze & leafy garden.
I recommend a swiss travel pass as entry is free then! But even if you have to pay this place is worth every single swiss franc! The scenic views are just the cherry on the top! The science underground of how earth formed - just amazing . The crazy wall of mirrors - just amazing. Words really cannot describe just how great this place really is. Truly a remarkable place with just so much to see within these gardens. There is also a place to stop and eat and enjoy the views!
It was really interesting and fascinating. Awesome place to go with children. Especially the mirror labyrinth. We enjoyed the time there!
This is included in the Swiss Pass. And open until 6 pm.We loved the unique cave-like architecture. There is a garden with a Lion monument, mirror maze (find your way out), glacier cave showcasing the evolution, old chalets and a restaurant.
Beautiful museum next to lion monument..Glass maze is interesting...free entry with Swiss pass
An interesting place to be - especially if you manage to get there early and have time to soak in the atmossphere. Although I still dont know what a mirror labyrinth has to do with Geology.
Really nice garden with rocks that ate millions of years old. Nice museum in Schweizerhaus. Excellent view of the city from the tower.
An interesting tourist attraction located right next to the famous Lion Monument, and definitely, a must-visit if youre visiting the monument. There is free entry for Swiss Travel Pass holders, otherwise you need to pay an entrance fee.The garden itself is quite huge, consistent of several different sections, including remnants of the glacier rocks that shaped Switzerland many years ago and a relaxing walk around greenery. Our favourite was the Mirror Maze, which was quite fun and interesting. The garden is also quite tourist friendly with many English information boards that teaches you the relationship we have we glaciers. Enjoyed our time here and highly recommend it.
Small but fun place if you like your glacier history. Very interesting on how the area was created. House of mirrors was trippy but fun. Nice way to spend some time on a rainy day.
Entrance ticket is too expensive, it isnt worth it, in my opinion! The services are good, but I found them not well organized and, unless youre interested in geology, there isnt much to see. Theres a treasure hunt for kids, which I found very nice, but dont bring them to the mirror labyrinth and the journey through time: they will be scared!
Firstly, tickets are 22 CHF for adults, 17 for seniors and students, 12 for kids.Secondly, Expect to spend about 2 hours here.We ran into this place by accident after seeing the lion monument. The glacial park was the most wonderful surprise. We loved everything about this place. The mirror labyrinth is absolutely phenomenal. The tunnel was an amazing use of projectors, concrete and cave networks. So much fun, so much history.
It is an OK museum. Some parts of the museum were closed during my visit. The only memorable part for me and my family was the mirrors sections, but even that is not that big. Id say visit this if you have some time to spare in Lucerne, but it is not essential attraction.
The lion monument was amazing and free. The actual entrance fee for the mirrors/cave is extremely expensive and not worth. Tourist trap. Don’t recommend, maybe for kids.
Good place to spend around 2 hrs. We went there on a beautiful weather day and it was so nice to spend with kids.
Great muzeum. Kids love the place!
It is very beautiful place with lot of geographical /claimetic changes related caves films etc. Mirror show quite ammusing .worth visiting place in Lucern.
Wonderful tourist attraction. It is certainly worth a visit. You will not only learn a lot about how the glaciers helped form the geography of Switzerland, but you will have a great time as well! We loved the Labyrinth, and the tour through time!
Very nice museum on the local geology. We used the audio guide app which is free and available in English.
Nice little museum with beautiful natural glacial potholes, mirror garden and some history about Lucerne. Great to visit with kids.
An interesting museum at the heart of Luzern, foretelling the history of the region by the trace of nature.
a cool museum experience with lots of variety! there was history in the swiss chateu and the glacier exhibit but more experience in the mirror maze and the cave-stairs. Would definitely recommend, the only museum we visited in the city and did not regret our choice
We enjoyed the rock world and found the glacial pots interesting. But all in all we expected more. Not good value for the 22 CHF entry fee.
So fun. Worth a visit if you are in Lucerne. I think kids would especially enjoy it. Lots to see, but the mirror maze and rock world were the highlights of my visit. With the rock world, you go through a dark and cool cave exhibit that tells the geological history through shimmering light projections on the walls. Mirror maze is just a blast. They did the decor in it and structured it so well.
One of the best preserved site I ever seen
If youre in Lucerne and have an afternoon or morning t spare, this is the place you want to visit. Whether its the quaint museum, the lion statue, Hall or Mirrors, the outlook at the top, or getting down in the cave. Wear comfy shoes, youll be climbing a few stairs.
A canceled flight led to one of the most memorable parts of my trip to Switzerland. While trying to figure out what to do with the few hours we had in Lucerne, we stumbled upon the Glacier Garden of Lucerne. The Glacier Garden itself was a fantastic exhibit and a hidden gem of Lucerne. It offers a cool and historical view of how the earth has changed since the ice age. However, this is just a teaser of what was to come. Within the walls of the Glacier Garden is the mirror maze. The mirror maze is absolutely phenomenal. This is the best mirror maze I’ve ever done. The staff clearly take great care of this maze because I could not tell where the mirrors started and where the mirrors ended. We spent about an hour wandering and laughing our way through the maze only to come out in the same place that we went in. This maze is TOO good. If you successfully make your way through, be sure to check out the silly mirrors at the end. I think about this place often and will definitely go out of my way to make it back one day. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
It is such an amazing place that it was my first time to see such things. I enjoyed my time there. The cave of gaciers is amazing. The garden is near by the dying lion monument.
A beautiful and interesting garden that makes you scared too because they have a twist inside in the rock
Intriguing, well maintained place, with fossils and rocks from the pre historic stage. The house in the garden is worth a visit too - entire experience should take about 1.5 hours
Totally amazing! The staff are incredible!!!! Everthing was wheelchair accessible and made easy by the helpful staff. Really recommend this to anyone of any ability if your in the area. Thank you all for looking after us
If you can get in for free with the train ticket do it. But it’s more for kids.
Wow. This is very amazing museum i had ever enter!!!! With SWISS TRAVEL PASS is it FREE !!!!! Its talk about lucern history!!!!!!
If you have 2 hours to kill in Lucerne, I would advise spending some time here. Kids will love it because of the activities. The displays are reasonably well curated, but there are some issues with the translations :this can be overlooked though. The views at the top are great though!
This museum is a must-see during a visit to Lucerne! The best part is the indoor walkthrough. It’s dark and a little chilly, but fascinating. Lots of information I never knew about Switzerland. The mirror maze is a great time too.
Loved it. Even better than last time we visited. The hall of mirrors was great fun, if you go slow. However, take the elevator to the top in the back of the garden....the stairs are killers!
We were not planning this visit, but we were very glad we chose to enter the glacier garden. The mirror labyrinth is very fun for all ages, but the prize goes to the exhibition that takes place underground, inside a glacier. This exhibition is a journey through time like no other. We were left speechless on many occasions. In the end you are rewarded with an incredible view of the entire city of Luzern. There is also a museum with many very interesting exhibits, such as maps and historical artifacts of the area. One of the most interesting takeaways of the glacier garden, was the effect that the passage of time had on the area of Luzern.
I must say that this place surprised me quite a bit. The tickets are slightly pricey and from the entrance, it doesnt look like much but I was really wowed by the experience. If you are a science nerd, this should be a must visit.Fossilized rocks, glacier potholes, magic mirror rooms and a glacier cave with wonderful informative lighting are the highlights of this place. You can also climb a wooden tower with gorgeous views of the Lucerne city.Must visit if in Lucerne for more than a day since its also next door to the dying Lion park. You can easily spend a couple of hours here.
I really enjoyed the place with everything they had there like the exhibitions the maze and so on.
Pretty good place chronicling the geological history of this region. It should not take more than an hour to run through the exhibits. The view from the top of the wooden tower with Pilatus Kulm in the backdrop is astounding.
Awesome new rock caves added. My wife, my kids and myself we liked it a lot. Also, the whole museum is interesting, especially these days as everyone speaks about climat change.
I give you the gift of two photos so you dont have to pay 15chf per adult to get your own. Construction limited access to the site. We were informed about this when we bought the tickets but didnt realize how limited it would be. Mirror labyrinth was good.
The excellent place for family: a lot of things to see and discuss with kids. Nobody will be bored)
Unfortunately when I visited a number of exhibitions were closed to the public. Upside = half-price admission. Downside = the available highlights could be found in posters and brochures. It was interesting to see the lying lion from a different vantage point.
Had an awesome walk around the garden, unfortunately as of the time of writing more than half the park is in renovations so we weren’t able to see all of it.Happy to see that they’re updating/refreshing the park tho!Still worth a visit, and you can get an awesome view of the lion statue that’s imo better than the platform just down the road.
It was OK, I had a good time even though overall I didnt feel really impressed. Its funny the one thing I remembered was a running match between us and the bus load of Asia tourists to get inside first. Luckily even though they were walking pretty fast towards the door they all suddenly stopped and waited for their tour guide once they got to the entrance lol
Unfortunately, the tunnels were closed for work, but still had a good time. Rich history and many interactive displays (may need some modernization). House was amazing, as well as the stairway and tower. Mirror maze was a lot of fun. Will go back again once the tunnels open again!
An interesting combination of things to see and do - from the glacier marks to the minerals collection, from the Renaissance rooms in the house to the mirror maze, from the history of the train line to the tower offering a good view over the city, from the pond with fish to the bunnies in the garden - theres definitely something thatll catch your eye and interest!A good place to spend a few hours, especially with your family!
Even though it is expensive enterance fee, but few things to see it. It does not worth to visit. I would recommend to see only "Löwendenkmal"
Nice to stay for an hour if you have swiss travel pass as the admission is free if you have it. There is a wooden tower which you can climb up and have a nice view of the city.
A small park and historical museum in the middle of Lucerne. Not much has changed in the last 30 years there, but there are plans for 2018 to modernize and extend the museum. Good for children. Mix of things inside and outside to do, so it can be used for a bad weather program. It took us about 2 hours to visit everything.
The oldest tourist attraction of the city. I often visited and can still learn about geology every time. A re-design and welcome refresh is planned in the coming years and I would be looking forward to return again.
