Giuly's Café - Restaurant in Vatican City, Vatican City
Delicious food and very friendly staff.
Not a great meal. Price is too high vs food quality.
Very good the menu! 🤤
The food and the service are great! I would definitely come back!
Most sub par meal Ive had in Rome. Bad pizza, terrible house wine, and hidden fees. Avoid.
We arrived yo this restuarant walking sround. We meet a place with wonderfull service good food. The omlet was perfect snd the fruit sslad was fresh and tasty one.
Quick service, nice waiters, very tasty pastas.
Good service. Prepared quickly. Tasty food.
Very nice and cozy place!
Dont even go there. The food IS average and if you are a tourist you will get a 12 % service charge !!!!! Disgracefull ......
terrible attendance. had just finished having lunch and the owner was already asking us and other customers to pay the bill and leave the restaurant, and there were still many other tables free. the food is reasonable. They charge a service fee even with the bad service.
Great pizza, good thin crust for after Vatican tour
Pretty solid pizza and really good prices! Nice air conditioning as well
Great customer service and delicious food and drinks! 10/10👍🏻
Location is excellent of course. It’s how we found it. The staff is very friendly. The place is clean. They have a menu in english and they speak it too. The place is good for the classical Italian breakfast: a croissant, some jam, coffee and maybe a juice. Now the not so good. The lights were out in the bathroom. The food was very simple. I had the pasta with mussels and that is almost exactly what they gave me: spaghetti and mussels, some butter, some olive oil, parsley. It is not tasty. This needs a sauce with white wine, or even msg. Something to give it flavor. My wife had the tomato bruschette. It’s toast, some olive oil, and fresh tomatoes, and fresh basil. They are not baked together. Just put together fresh.Look for better quality for the money for lunch or dinner somewhere else. The desserts looked good but expensive. Get gelato from a gelateria instead.
Best Caffe ever!!!! The food is great and personal is nice👍👍👍
The one time I didnt look at reviews before eating at a location and it was a disaster. My friend just arrived and we were planning to grab a quick meal, after seeing a bill of 187 euro, I had questions. Additional items were added to our bill that we had not had. Additionally, they charged 10% on every item and then a service charge. The service charge had to be outrageous, because even though they deleted the erroneous charges the service charge never changed. Needless to say, this place seems like they completely pray on people. Their food was not too bad. The pizza wasnt good, but pasta was decent. The problem is that you pay nearly double the price or pay for items you didnt purchase and they play dumb when asked about the fraudulent charges. Read the reviews, the do it to people all the time. You can tell that they dont care either or else there would be replies by the establishment for their negative reviews, but their are none. They embrace the scam.
Worst pizza ever in Rome. Seriously undercooked. Didnt have much time to complain as it started raining and all the food was soaked. On the positive side for those who like well cooked pasta, this one was soft for a child!
Nothing spectacular, but today it hit the spot. Food was good, service was just fine. Had a smal mixup where one of our dishes was forgotten, but the waiter noticed and had it remade before we said anything. Prices seemed very reasonable considering the proximity to Vatican City.
Drinks were ok, food not special. Pizza especially. One of us had to wait for a long time for her pizza while we had our food already. Also the service fee was very high. Furthermore we didn’t order any bread, but we did get it and when we payed we had to pay for the bread ?! Not very good
Avoid this place it looks okay from outside, nice garden, beer is okay but the food is absolute garbage...worst pizza Ive ever had, brushetta is basically a piece of bread with chopped tomato... Absolutely no craft into the preparation just "serve the masses" most of them wont come back anyways because theyre tourists.
Wanted a quick cappuccino before entering the Vatican museum. They charged me €4.00 for the privilege. I was very surprised and I saw a menu laying on a table and it clearly stated that the cost was €3.50. The woman who was manning the till tried to first of all make me think I ordered some sort of a special cappuccino which I told her I didnt upon which she changed tactics and tried to explain the there was a 12.5% service charge to be added to all the prices on the menu. Which is BS! She reimbursed me €0.15 cents and I told them I would place this experience on the Internet. These people will try and rip you off whenever possible!DO NOT GO HERE!
Frozen lasagna just in the oven so no fresh lasagna really not tastyThe pizza was burnt and dryI really do not recommend this place
Food is not good at all... lasagna goes in the microwave... pizza bottom burnt
We ate here today after visiting the Vatican. The food was good, particularly the pizza and the waiters were friendly. However, the owner then came out when I asked for the bill and proceeded to overcharge us, I believe intentionally. She wrote all the amounts out by hand on a scrap of paper, and added 20 euros at the end. After paying, I decided the total sounded expensive for what we had so asked for the menu to check the prices. I worked out she had overcharged us by 17 euros. Having said something, she said the total included 12% tax but she had thrown away the piece of paper. She then gave me back 5 euros. I looked at the menu again and saw right on the back in small letters the 12% was a service charge, not tax. I checked on Google to see if this charge is mandatory, and it is if it is stated on the menu, but it does seem to only happen in touristic restaurants. The owner then, miraculously, found a printed till receipt of my meal with the 12% included to prove it was legal, but it did prove that she still owed me money, which I insisted she paid me back. So please insist on a printed bill itemising your order.
The food is decent, the atmosphere is loud, the waiters yell to eachother. The cutlery is thrown into the storage bins. Ok portions for food.
10€ menú with a cold spaghetti with tomato and a defrost "chicken" cutlet, after eating they offer you a coffee if you review the "restaurant" with five stars so dont trust the 5 stars review
We are visiting from the U.S. and stopped by Giulys Cafe for a bite to eat. The people are very nice. The Atmosphere is very welcoming. The food was amazing!!!! I highly recommend stopping by.
The reception is amazing. The price is fair (many offers that includes drinks and side dishes). The food is super delicious, we had spaghetti, pizza and chicken and could use spices as will. As Brazilians that dont speak Italian at all, their staff was very patient to communicate with us and we felt very comfortable and good. At the end we even receive a free capuccino :).
Nice personnel, beautiful and pleasant place, nice price for Rome, delicious food (specially the chicken). Totally recommend before or after a visit in Vatican City
Wonderful! We went during happy hour. Their pollo pizza and lasgna is very good. So happy to have stopped here for lunch. We will definitely come back.
When in Rome do as the Romans do and eat pizza and pasta. Giulys Café is the perfect spot just around the Vatican Museums, we made use of the 10€ menu pizza/pasta + insalata + dessert (gelato). Christian the server was extraordinary in his service, offering additional olive oil, condiments and bread; the food was good and plentiful. 3 happy customers, 10/10 would go again.
After eating an excellent meal at restaurant 1/2 block away, my wife and I would stop by for two scoops of the best gelato weve ever had. Staff were friendly and the lady manager (owner?always made us feel welcome and apppreciated. Thank you.
After leaving Vatican museum, i stumbled upon this place for a quick lunch. They offer 10 and 15€ menu. I decided to try the 15€ menu ordering pomodoro pasta, fried fish, salad and tiramisu. Positive: friendly server, food tasted good. Negatives: Bread came with my food, the salad was dripping and there was water at base of plate (complete turnoff), corn was missing in my salad (1 ingredient missing in 4 ingredient salad), the portions of food are huge for 15€, if i would have known the quantity i would not have ordered so many items (may be it works for some peopleand the tiramisu was pulled straight out of a freezer. Given this experience, i would not recommend this place.
My family and I came here after the Vatican Museum and enjoyed it very much. The owner and the waiter was extremely nice and served us quickly. Food was great; we ordered spaghetti and pepperoni pizza. We also needed two taxis to our hotel and they called it for us. If ever in town, we will be back!
Thank you for your friendly service, the place is very cozy ambiance. They can make a special request like "ICE COLD COFFEE" and the owner is very accommodating and nice. They speak english as well so it is easy for you to communicate with them.
AVOID!! Worst restaurant in Italy Ive ever been. Tourist trap is the best description. Tiramisu is whipped cream with chocolate from bottle, overpriced etc. We sat there just to use toilet without checking other opinions as we do always and regret that instantly!!!
Poor service, one young guy (waiteris to orders, serve food, make and clear tables and even run the ice cream parlor. Lady behind the counter is just there waiting for your money staring at your pocket the time you are at the cafe.Part of our order wasnt served till the end. When asked, they didnt even realise diverging was missing which was then prepared and served 10mins after we all finished eating. The best part is that we were charged SERVICE CHARGES (when we didnt even get the service). Never going there again
The good things that I can attribute to this restaurant are the service (wait staff was friendlyand the ambiance (bright and casual). Washrooms werent bad. Pineapple juice was good. However, this is the textbook definition of a tourist trap: expensive food which is poor in taste. The fettuccine was cooked al dente, but the Alfredo sauce wasnt very tasty and was quite thin...seemed more like cheese flavored milk. The bruschetta wasnt as seasoned as Id like, and the soup? It was poorly flavored water.I was very unhappy with the general experience - enough to want to warn others. You may get better value for money from other nearby restaurants...just not this one with the 12% service charge to boot! The food in my photo came up to 33€.Hopefully the restaurant fixes itself, or perhaps the wait staff would be better off being at another establishment.Edit: a previous reviewer said that they felt scammed. I felt the same way.
Of all the authenticity in Rome, we stumbled across the cafe which transported me back to England. The food was bland, plastic tasting frozen tasting, would not recommend
The worst pizza in the world is in Rome. What a joke. I mean, look at that ! If my dog can cook, hell do it better and I dont have a dog !
Good place to grab a morning joe or coffee before meeting up with tour guide for Vatican City. Ridiculous prices on menu. Expect to pay 4 euro for a tiny cup of cappuccino. Service charge added to bill. Would avoid this place if possible for tourist. Instead go to McDonald’s nearby for a better experience.. cleaner restroom and cooler air conditioner.
Before my tour of the Vatican, I was looking for lunch, and this restaurant advertised its gluten free pizza- and for good reason! This pizza was the best pizza I had on the whole trip. Most gluten free pizza crust is flat and over cooked, but this restaurant served the fluffiest crust I’ve had in a long time. I’m definitely going to come back on my next trip!
Local business owner, with excellent costumer service and food. We ate very happy with delicious salads and vegetables soup with pizza and white wine and gelato as desert. We dont understand why the bad reviews, everything was okay and restrooms were very clean also. Check on the amount of reviews people had made before believing in those accounts making only one review that is not true to this place.Nice restaurant for families!
Went here after waiting forever to be seated at another restaurant and saw this place was pretty empty. The service was nice, though impersonal and kinda felt like they were always trying to sell us things (more dessert? More coffee? Etc). The food is good, but nothing special. The prices are insane. Even though its a skip away from the Vatican Museums, we couldnt get over how overpriced everything was. 6€ for a local beer? 3€ for water? For 5 people, our total ended up at 130€ just for 5 pasta dishes, 3 coffees, and 2 desserts. The restaurant needs to check itself if it really wants to compete with any of the 100 places around it.
We had about 20 minutes to eat between tours and the manager rushed us in and helped expedite our order. There were four of us (2 couplesand we got 2 salads and 2 pizzas. The food was all pretty good (we got the Amatriciana pizza), but it would have been a little better if the bacon had been crispy.Everything was brought quickly and the bill was already split and ready to go when we were finished. Im sure they are used to this type of business and it worked out well for us.
Good place for tourists visiting the Vatican Museum. The pizzas were good including the gluten free option (pictured). Prices seemed comparable to other restaurants.
The pizza was ok but warm and not hot. It was definitively not wort so much money, the coke was way to expensive and the want money for service they definitively not give. They are not friendly at all, dont tell that they want money for service and the food was not worth the money. You should not go there and see one street further to have probably way better locals, service and food! Thanks for "steeling" my money! Would usually give zero stars.
Not bad. Spaghetti was okay and pizza was good. Hot food, good service. We paid $20€ with drinks for lunch
Worst possible dining service we had while in Italy. After a hot day at Vatican museum, we were looking for a quick option for lunch and saw that this place was really crowded. But what we didnt know until we sat down was the place was mostly filled with uninformed tourists like us who probably thought we can have a quick meal with good price, or attracted by the air-conditioned and seemingly nice/clean outlook of the place. We had pizza and pasta and they were made almost like frozen food with little and not fresh ingredients. We have not had a bad meal in Italy with kids on pizza and pasta but this one really did it. Whats worst is that they also charge 2 Euro cover charge for lunch + 12% service fee which was incredible for that type of cafeteria atmosphere. There are many more choices around town that is nicer and really serve real Italian food with grace. We really felt like tourist getting ripped off.
