Pyramids Rd, Ballandean QLD 4382, Australia, Warwick
Hilly terrain with unique rock formations & hiking trails, plus picnic spots, campsites & restrooms.
Huge boulders and stunning rock formations. The pyramid is not for the faint hearted, well worth the scramble to the top for an experienced hiker, hiking boots strongly recommend. If you dont want to hike there are lots of lovely walks for most abilities. Dont forget to check out underground creek, worth the little drive from the main camping and day use area. Stop off at The chocolate shop for a treat on the way home, if chocolate is not your thing, pick up some onion jam, so yummy!
Plenty of new sites on the revamped camp grounds, van sites dont get an BBQ sites. You take your own camp Shower and hot water but they provide shower stall and a rope to lift the shower bag.Very beautiful park with loads of walks on well maintained paths.
Lots of walking trails, well maintained.
Hard walk up hill and stairsWell markedAllow 2 hoursIm 68An worth every step
Stopped here along our travels to stretch our legs so we went for one of the smaller walking tracks.Wyberba walking trailExplorer and botanist Allan Cunningham led the first European expedition into the Wyberba area on Tuesday 26th June 1827.Cunninghams party found their way to a high spot in the north eastern section of the present day Girraween only to be confronted with what seemed like a endless barrier of ridges.Vast sculptured granite landscape with craggy outcrops, huge rounded boulders poised aloft, colourful slabs and giant stone arches with meandering waterways lined with plant life that in spring bursts with flamboyant wildflowers is how its described in the billboards and I must say that it was absolutely amazing seeing the wonderful landscape and waterways along the small trail we followed plus there were plenty of interesting billboards located around the grounds. The information centre was closed when we visited but there was plenty of picnic tables, toilets and benches around the parking area.
Highly recommended hike; we walked through areas where the wildlife welcomed us. Beautiful orange-necked Wallabies didnt mind us at all. The ascent to the Pyramid was challenging and required diligence and fitness, do take care!
Such a good wee easy trek, bring some grippy shoes though if you want to get to the top of the castle. Also fun climbing spots around the sphinx. Pickle
Generally well maintained tracks with plenty of people hiking them all day.It was magical to watch sunset at the top of the pyramid... and unforgettable.
We did the junction and the granite arch walks within 2 hours and it was really fun. Easy and familial, I highly recommend it.
Amazing place, beautiful scenery and wildlife, very peaceful. Only attempt the rock climbs if you are very fit and be very careful
Girraween N/Park is so good as there is heaps of trails to go on, we went there and it was a sunny day and it was perfect. Did the Junction trail walk
Beautiful bushland combined with colossal granite boulders that have been shaped and rounded by wind and rain for thousands of years. A highlight is the "Balancing Rock" that can be found at the top of the Pyramid track. This walk has a lot of steps, and transitions to climbing a smooth rock face. A good level of fitness is required along with shoes with grip. Perhaps not for those with a fear of heights, but the summit is worth the effort. Walking tracks have easy to follow signage. Take your camera.
Spectacular view from top, only if you make it 😅.
Fantastic place to visit. The rock formations, the plants and birds are great. There is just so much to see and great walks
So peaceful and quiet. More water at the moment than I have ever seen at Girraween. Looking forward to testing the newly established campground sometime soon after many happy nights at the now decommissioned Bald Rock Creek Campground.
Castle Rock was my favourite walk.360 degree views. I was lucky to have sunshine and no wind😃
Beautiful National Park offering a great variety of walking trails, mountain bike trails, camp sites with toilet facilities & water, information centre, 4x4 track. Wonderful wildlife & native bushland.
Stunning national Park with several walk options, this is pics from the arch walk (gentle short loopand the pyramid walk (lots of stairs, some scrambling up and some butt slides down), the view from the top was just amazing!! Also some great bird life.
Walking trails galore. Easy ones, medium ones and experienced ones. Parks are so well maintained. Brilliant spot to get outdoors and enjoy nature.
Thoroughly enjoyed coming back to take a look around Girraween NP after an absence of 20 years! The hikes are lovely and parking & facilities are good and there are more being built, as Im told it gets really busy in the summer season. Wasnt so impressed with the grott who dropped their coffee cup on the track!
Great view and well maintenance camping sites. The toilet is clean and very maintenance. No bin in the day use area, please bring your garbage with you home. Went for a short walk to Granite arch and the pyramid, it is beautiful and definitely worth it.
Finally, we are in the Granite Belt region. Girraween Nation Park is beautiful and has many walks for all levels of walker. A lot of bushwalking and camping. A visitor centre is a nice setup.
Great place for hike. They had a small natural water pools for swimming. Lots of great place for kids to climb rocks. We went in our normal walking shoes so ended up slipping a lot om the gravel path. Didnt do the full hike. But they do have a lot of walking trails.
There are multiple treks in and around the park, we covered the northern walking tracks. This is a half trail walk and the reminder half a steep trek expierence. The trail walk is easy but the trek has medium difficulty. It is advised to have shoes with a good grip specially if it is raining. It took as an hour to get to complete the steps with a few breaks, followed by which there is an inclined rock climb to the top. The view is beautiful, even children can cover this trek.
Fabulous place to visit! Lots of short walks if you dont want to do a big walk. I loved going out to the granite bridge and doing the loop walk. Great and fun photo opportunities to be had. You can have a picnic, dip or just sit with your feet in the water if you have time. There are wallabies and beautiful birds, picnic tables and toilets. No cafes nearby so BYO food out. I will be coming back again and again and recommending it to others as well. Theres camping available and the campspot looked lovely.
Amazing landscape, incredible granite boulders .. worth a look .. 👀
Girraween is an amazing wilderness place to explore. The granite rocks are huge and imposing with sooo much character it makes you feel respect for them as they dominate the landscape. I loved climbing and hiking and just sitting atop them to view the beautiful scenery. 100% energising. Go and do it! 👍🙂
Lovely spot for a walk. Various degrees of difficulty. Many easy walks. Bald Rock more challenging, but fun. Take plenty of water. Flies can be bad in summer. Nice picnic grounds.
Did "the junction" 5km round trip bushwalk leaving from Bald Rock carpark, it was a lovely walk, not strenuous, our group had small children with us as well.It was totally worth the trip, the junction where two creeks meet is gorgeous, and we all enjoyed swimming in the natural pools too.
What an amazing national park with plenty of lovely walks with huge rocky, granite rocks. The wildflowers are really lovely there at the moment.
It’s an amazing place to explore. My husband and I tried to walk Granite Arch circuit and Bald Rock Creek circuit this time. Beautiful nature flowers are blooming, grasses are green, birds are singing sweetly and rock formations are dynamic and very interesting to see.🪨 We really want to try to go up to The Pyramid and Castle Rock next time!
Girraween National Park is beautiful. I’d suggest getting there early and doing the main Pyramid walk first as it will take the longest and can be quite difficult for younger or the elderly as it gets really steep on the Granite. “Do not walk, when it’s raining” it will become really slippery and get shoes with lots of grip.Once you reach the top. All I can say is it is beautiful and pack a snack and enjoy the view. Photo’s of the view have been added.I haven’t included a photo of the big rock as you will need to do it yourself to be amazed. Well worth the walk.
Great national park for bushwalking, exploring rocks and hidden caves.
Loved it! Really nice granite rocks and many walks for all levels of Walker. Recommend to anyone looking for a nice family camping holiday. Drive from Brisbane is nice with a lot of good views.
Absolutely stunning national park. Heaps of beautiful waterways and walking tracks for all different skill levels. Also great for kids.
Great afternoon out. Walked up the pyramid which was very steep and was definitely a workout with good grippy shoes a necessity. Awesome views from the top. Be great to spend a few days at one of the many forms of accommodation available to explore more of the national park and surrounding area.
Beautiful walks through enormous granite boulders. Late winter is choice as the flowers are coming out and its still quite cold. Some of the walks are steep and take your breath away. Well worth the effort.A great day can be had by walking in the morning, a lunch bbq at the day use area (its excellentand the call in at some wineries on the way home.
A simply beautiful part of the world.Clean air, clear blue sky, warm sunshine and outside in nature. Girraween is so quiet and peaceful and offers a diverse array of different scenery offering all nature lovers something to enjoy. There is such an abundance of flaura on display, especially during flowering season. The walking tracks are well maintained and signposted (for the most part). There is a small kiosk, but we brought supplies just in case which is a recommendation whenever you go bushwalking. Enclosed footwear is a must, but depending on the track youre doing, everyday trainers would most likely see you through.
A fine National Park with interesting scenery, a selection of walks from easy to challenging and you can still risk your life on the Pyramid without the nanny state stopping you.
Has to be one of the best National Parks I’ve been to. Totally different to the rainforest parks like Border Ranges & Springbrook etc. Alot of trails to suit all. The Pyramid walk was spectacular with a steep climb to the top where you’re among massive granite boulders and a special one which is basically balancing by itself. Very grippy so don’t worry about sliding! So cool, we’ll be back for some more exploration.
This place is awesome for Bush walking, camping and getting away from everything. Well maintained tracks, a good road in (go via the Highway, good challenges at the end of the walks (the pyramid, the castle, mt Norman). Beware the extreme temperatures, it was sub zero driving rain the first day we were there, about ten to twelve the next. See attached photos.
See the gems of the Granite Belt as its best, a must see destination for all ages and set your expectations to remarkable, as this is what the Girraween National Park is.
The pyramid track was closed, but park itself is amazing and there is still lot of tracks different grades you can do.Campsites require booking, but spots are nice and big and amenities clean.
Girraween national park is one of the most beautiful parks in South East Queensland. There is a great selection of walks with dramatic scenery consisting of striking granite boulders mixed in with Australian Bush. Recent rains have made it amazingly green with lots of new growth amongst the trees and boulders. The park is a family favourite and will likely stay that way well into our next generation.
Great shorter walks and challenging scrambles rewarded with amazing views.Go early in summer to beat the heat and you get bonus Kangaroos on sunrise everywhere. Do be careful on pyramid Rd driving in.
Wonderful place for a quick walk or a full multi day trip! Great camp grounds and well maintained walking trails. The granite in the park is one of the big attractions with lots of balanced rocks and arches! At the right time or year there are also lots of beautiful flowers. Make sure you book if wanting to camp as it can get very busy. Also remember that even in summer it can get very cold after dark so be prepared!
I had an awesome time.. Amazing hike, would be back soon. One thing I would recommend is to wear good grip shoes if you wish to go to the top. At times the top gets too steep and slippery.
WOW... just wow! Balancing Rock is out of this world and I highly recommend walking passed the Sphinx and ascending Turtle Rock between the extremely narrow cliff walls (its certainly a tight experience)... but once youre at the top the view is top-notch! Came to T-rock at midday but Im imagining sunset would be superb. That being said if you only have 1 sunset at Girraween NP - definitely go to Balancing Rock/The Pyramid!
Great camping grounds, when we visited water restrictions so no showers available at the moment but flush toilets available. You can see the fire damage throughout some of the trails but the area is springing back to life. We really enjoyed our 5 day stay.
The long walk/ scramble up the side of the pyramid. The view is the reward for getting to the top. There is an information building. Plenty of band and seating and toilets are there as well as plenty of camping sites for caravans, tents and camper trailers. A must see. Go today !
