Gippsland Vehicle Collection - Museum in Sale, Australia
Very quiet, history there is wonderful. They change vehicles every 4 months.
Awesome display of cars and motorcycles recommended everyone go and see this
Great collection! Took our young boys down, they loved looking at the HUGE collection of model cars
For a small town. This place was excellent, a good collection of Cars, Bikes & Models.
Fabulous collection, historic venue & tremendously energetic volunteer team. Love it!
Great, well worth the visit.
A stunning and well maintained display thats regularly changed and reshuffled.Well worth a repeat visit.
Been here 4 times, very enjoyable each time.
Loved this museum. Beautiful vintage cars and motorbikes
Swap meet 1st of may 2022
Have followed and read a lot about this museum on Facebook. A great collection of vehicles, motorcycles and supporting material that is well laid, interesting and informative. Staff well very helpful and enthusiastic and it was well worth the visit. A must see if you are in the area.
This is a great car museum because they change their displays constantly, the current display of British sports cars and Italian Cars has some real jems in it. Come back in 6 months and it will be a completely different display. Run by very friendly volunteers, worth a stop.
I think the $15 entry fee per person is expensive , especially when you pay for 2 people. One gentleman was very knowledgeable and spent a bit of time talking to us. Might be worth a visit when the Italian cars go on display though.
Well worth a look, ever changing display, every 3 months they change the theme so it never gets stale, the volunteers are very knowledgeable as well.
Very enjoyable. It would have been 5-Stars if there was some type of hand-out as a guide.
Everyone MUST see this! Like cars or loath then, these displays change and draw in historical significance of different importance every 4 months; thats a huge display that changes 3 times a year! The volunteers are lovely and the tea and coffee are FREE!
Had a great time here. Our car loving family really enjoyed the various types of cars on display. We will 100% be back again for the future displays and will continue to support such a great museum.
Amazing collection and space. Such warm and welcoming staff. We will be back! Andy and Alex :)
$15 entry goes a long way to help support this place so was happy to pay it, great reminder of how hard it was back in the day to maintain cars, display vehicles changes every 4 months so the owners really do make an effort to provide something for everyone and give you reason to come back, thanks for the day out, my kids loved it and we will see you again in easter
Very good museum with changing displays through the year. Well wortha visit.
Another interesting place that I visited yesterday. Welcoming and friendly staff.Cars from 1920s. Can buy model cars at reasonable cost.Id definitely visit the place again.
We decided to visit with the kids, not disappointed at all!! They had so much fun looking at everything, and even enjoyed the colouring table for a few minutes. We will be back!!
Well worth a visit, great displays
Wow what a gem great atmosphere and always changing - great model car collection as well.
Amazing my husband loved it ππ
This place is a hidden gem in Victoria. An unassuming warehouse on the outskirts of a tiny town in eastern Gippsland hides a constantly rotating collection of rare and exciting historical and exciting vehicles. The warehouse holds a staggering array of cars, motorbikes, utes, first assembly and last from Australia and wagons, and a massive collection of miniature trains, cars, truck and more. Vehicle enthusiasts - this place is for you, it even has a pitt stop cafΓ© and gift shop on the way out (and youll feel great knowing that youll be supporting local)
Awesome collection of automotive history.
Great idea. Rotating collection of interesting car subjects. Currently a collection of first&last vintage cars. Next time Hot Rods! Plus a permanent miniature collection.. You should definitely check this out if you love cars!
This vehicle collection is superbly laid out and educational as well. It totally changes three times a year and each time it is set up on a particular theme. At the moment it is the first and the last vehicle of its kind built or assembled in Australia. So interesting. If you are in Maffra DONT miss it.
Great display of a range of cars from the early 1900s thru to 2020.All have some significance to Australian motoring history.
Took the SHORT trip (about 800m from the front doorto the Gippsland Car Museum in MAFFRA today.OMG...if you love cars, youll love it.If you love a great collection, thats well displayed...youll love it.The current display is "Racing" with car on offer for all sorts of racing classes and years. The model car display is the biggest in Australia and has to be seen to be appreciated.Displays change every few months with the next change due to 2 weeks.
What a great place to stop by. So much to see and so much history. The staff are extremely knowledgeable. And the complimentary tea coffee and biscuits were a bonus. Well worth a stop.
Absolutely wonderful. The racing car theme was great. Best small car collection that I have ever seen. This is a must see destination.
Amazing place!!! You need to come and have a look at the history, i just loved it!
Very friendly staff and they really take pride in what they do fantastic old cars and great model car collection when we get their they told us everything what we were going to see very clean as well little cafe will be back sometime
A lot of love has clearly gone into building this place, their vast model car collection is well worth a see.
Maffra, just up the road from Sale, has a special motoring history reaching back more than a century.A historic hill climb continues to be maintained by the Maffra and District Car Club, and thereβs a motocross track run by the local motorcycle club. Also in Maffra, a massive WWII-era building constructed for vegetable dehydration has been repurposed as an exhibition space for the Gippsland Vehicle Collection. This fleet of carriages, motorbikes, trucks, cars, engines and motoring memorabilia is equally enormous, and is rotated every few weeks to stay fresh.Youβll see everything from 19th-century horsedrawn carriages to state-of-the-art race cars. Also here is one of Australiaβs largest displays of model cars, counting more than 3,500 pieces.
Great collection of significant and rare vehicles. Bring a jacket in winter though π
A quick preface to the review; I didnt get a chance to go inside. After a long day in the road, I had to pull over and get the kids to bed in the van. Caravan parks tend to send their staff home after business hours, but the Gippsland Vehicle Collection leave out a donation box and let you bunk down in their yard at your own convenience. Saved me a great deal of hassle having a dump point at one end of the yard and a hose full of potable (I assume, still standing after drinking itwater over by the camp kitchen. The sign in the camp kitchen said to speak to the staff at the reception box to have the electric barbecues fired up, so be warned that youll not be able to use them if you rock up in the evening and leave early in the morning like I did.
Love this place. AKA The Maffra Shed there is always something new to see here. Displays change regularly, open days where you have collections of cars from groups, 1000s of Matchbox cars etc, and my main love, the velocette venom bikes!Well worth a couple of hours trip from Melbourne :)If you love vintage or quirky collections of anything that moves, this is your place to visit.
First time visitor but have known the existence of the museum for sometime. Fantastic display. Far better than I expected and spent a good couple of hours checking it out. Some exceptional vehicles and exhibits here.
Even better than expected, they also have the best collection of model cars I have ever seen
A must visit in East Gippsland for any vehicle-lover. The cars are absolutely beautiful, and are displayed in an uncluttered manner with lots of info on each car available as you walk past. There are seats available around the museum for the mobility impaired, and also wheelchair access is available to the entire museum.
A must visit place when in Maffra. My boyfriend and I both loved it π
Absolutely terrific well presented well done to all concerned. Volunteers all.
Fantastic collection with a community focus, run by volunteers. Do plan your trip for a cooler day though as it is stored in a building with a tin roof "the shed", and is not air-conditioned. Also allocate at least an hour as there is so much to see.
Came to the Museum with a few friends last week. Well worth a visit. It is the second time my husband has been. Good displays and wonderful cars. Thanks for the coffee and biscuits. ps. Thanks to the wonderful staff there to help and give lots of information.
Amazing collection! They change it every four monthes its not big place but I left very satisfied, very nice and wolcaming people, good explenations on each vaichel and not expensive at all.
I decided to visit this car museum, hoping to see some nice cars belonging to Peter Brock or other well known drivers, all I saw was some old American cars, 2 military vehicles and old British motor bikes, nothing of any interest at all, very boring, definitely not worth the $10 entry fee, had I have known what was on offer I wouldnt have wasted my time
Great price. Amazing cars. kind staff.
