118 NE 2nd St, Miami, FL 33132, United States, Miami
Founded in 1896, this parish is the oldest in South Florida & the oldest Catholic school in Miami.
Beautiful, historical, first catholic church in Miamis history. Definitely worth a visit. They have a mass everyday at Noon.
You have to attend this church, so you can experience it. May the Lord bless you and keep you.
Wonderful homily and a beautiful massThank you lord
Its beautiful and full of rich history
I love attending mass here. Im not a baptized Catholic but I always feel welcome to attend the mid-day English mass on Sundays. The art is spectacular and I love celebrating mass here as people have for over a century!
My parochy, 100 years old church, beautiful windows mosaics.
The choir should be in the choir loft! They are good but distracting.
The oldest church in Downtown Miami. Gesu Catholic Church. I met Mother Teresa there behind the building. They had her staying inside an old garden shed 10x10 with her nuns. I asked for her having read in the newspaper she was in town and there. A priest directed me to the back of the building. Sure enough, she was there.
Beautiful church!Holy Mass and confesión. Traditional Catholicism. 🙏♥️♥️♥️
The house of Gesu is so beautiful I felt in 🥰 love w it. I hope you love it too. God bless you all 🎀🙏🌻💟 n remember to be safe please.
Beautiful church and friendly people. The childrens choir was very impressive in the quality and professionalism. I was there for mothers day and the sermon was heartwarming.
Best place for a quiet prayer anytime in downtown Miami.
One of the oldest catholic churches, if not the oldest, in miami!Must see!!
The traffic is horrible but the priestess are exceptionals
One of the best churches in Miami to go mass and confess!
Beautiful church, they were praying the Stations of the Cross when we went in. The stain glass windows are gorgeous.
The most beautiful church in Miami. The father was very attentive with me. Good place for anyone who wants to feel the presence of God.
Very welcoming as a visitor. Beautiful church, outstanding organist.
Beautiful place. Rich music
One of the most beautiful churches in miami dade. God is great
All the money they collect and the sound system sounds like they are communicating through cups and a string?!?! I find it really weird that a questionable young priest is officiating a wedding. Giving away advice like it was free cheese...hells no!
Beautiful and historical Roman Catholic Church. Worth visiting. Definitely one of the must visit attraction in Miami.
this place was so cool... OLD SCHOOL church magnificent statues and building...... the mass is a typical roman catholic service not my fav but still a nice vibe... worth going just to see the building and everything else
Beautiful historical church! Built in 1896. A must see.
Amazing atmosphere. You can feel the presence of God in the air. Such a beautiful church.
A beautiful and historic catholic church. The first one in Miami. The inside is gorgeous and reminiscent of the older type of churches.
For safety.. al comulgar: priest should give it in the mouth of anyone.. with my family we havent been confortable in participating watching the priest placing it inside the mouth of dozens of individuals one after the other. We should be wearing all masks, receive it in our hand and put it in our mouths a step away facing away from the priest and his cup.It makes no sense in this pandemic scenario.. please adjust. Thanks.
Historic Catholic church but nothing much is going on. Free to pray 🙏
Gorgeous church. Attended Bilingual mass.
Beautiful historic church from 1896 with friendly and peaceful attendance every Sunday for English mass. I have started attending it very recently and love it.
An amazing historical church in downtown Miami. The outside design is normal, however what it lacks from the outside the inside make up far more. The design and feel reminds me a trip I went to Spain and visited the churchs there.
I love the church I look for God and a good preaching, but the father in charge of the Church only preached TO SAY FOR WHO TO BOOT UP, HIS POLITICAL FANATISM WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOR HIM OR SPEAKING OF GIVING MONEY FOR THE ROOF, two years ago he asked for it fixed I also gave him money but when another father gives the preaching he interrupts him to ask for money .... It is getting like the Christian churches that you have to go with half the salary of the week
A great historical site that dedicates a great deal of time to the surrounding communities. If your tight on cash or know of someone in need of a meal. They offer hot lunch bags for a dollar(consider throwing in extra $ its a generous amount of food)
It is a nice place to talk with God. I went there several time asking Him to make me see and notice the good opportunities that could show up in my life. Fortunately and as God is always wonderful, I got the best chance in my life. Now, I am very thankful for God and also this beautiful church.
I have attended this church on numerous occasions over the last 15 years. The art and glasswork tells a great story and well worth visiting. Introduced to me by my mother a faithful child of God. It was with great pleasure to have celebrated my aunt and uncle‘s 50th anniversary my renewing their vows.
I was visiting the area and went to 1:00 pm mass based on the reviews. Was quite disappointed by a priest, in his words, relaying a message from the Archbishop telling me who to vote for “If” I am a good catholic.Sickening
** Very nice old world styled church **.... with wonderful pictorial colored glass windows, plenty of statues of favorite Saints and large altar. Church seems like something you would see in Southern Italy or Spain.
Amazing church. Full of old world charm with a youthful priest who gets it. Hes teamed up with a great mentor priest. The place is teeming with enthusiasm and fire for Christ and the people of Miami.
Love the Historic Churches.Wish I could have went inside, maybe attend a mass.It was Christmas and closed.
Hidden gem in the middle of downtown Miami! When you walk in the smell of wood takes you back.
Beautiful church. I love visiting this church during lunch time when I need a moment of peace, meditation, and ofcourse a nice talk with the Lord.Even if you are not catholic, take a moment, walk in and look at the beautiful painting on the roof.
Its the only place left that is open I think 7 days a week to allow one to enter a place of worship. Has many real good church services and allows you to sit and pray, light candles and purchase roseries with baby Jesus. So even If you are not Catholic and wish to have a rosery without Jesus on the cross. Because as a Presbyterian my cross is without Jesus because we believe on the 3rd day he arose and ascended into heaven. Thus we dont were the crucifix bearing him as I forementioned. The priests Ive encountered there. I think everyone loves that Church I have a freind in her seventies who has fond memories of her mother taking them to that Church to pray and light a candle and they were Pentecostle. My freind now attends the Methodist Church. I leave my Church service on Sundays and go there to commune with the holy spirit. The service at that time is in Spanish not my language. Its always well attended. Cant say the same for the early service at my Church. Gesu Church is truely the house of the Lord and welcomes everyone. I love that Church! No other Church I know offers so much time to worship!
Beautiful church! They have several masses in English and Spanish. It was within walking distance of our hotel. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Brickell Area.
This is an historic church over 100 years old. This church was establish when Florida was a Spanish Colony. If you into history this is a church you should visit. I know the parking is free on Sunday for services. During the week I am not sure, so I suggest you call the rectory for further information on parking. Beside that its a beautiful church run by the Jesuit sect.
Beautiful catholic church . From outside looks like a normal building but when you come in side take your breath away. .Worth it to visit . Come earlier before english mass week days 12.30 and Sunday 11.30 , and enjoy the present of the Lord 😍
I called to hear the schedule for Ash Wednesday services.I was surprised to hear a recording that has not been revised, I have not been this this beautiful landmark, and in my humble opinion it deserves a well put together introduction.I can’t wait to walk through it’s door.s and listen to the mass even if I may not get. my ash cross this morning.
After 1 year of looking for a church to baptize my daughter I knew I found the one when I came to Gesu for the parent/godparent class. The father was amazing he was real and down to earth (he wasnt there to drill religion down your throat but to help you learn how to keep an eye on your growing child in the world). I had been to many other churches and the stained glass was the detail that won me over. A beautiful church to remember a beautiful day!Might I add that this church also gives back tremendously to the community by feeding the less fortunate real plates of food not just a yogurt or a sandwich.
Best place for prayer. #pray4us #godhavemercy
This is the first Church I visited when I came from Cuba in the 1960s . This Church is the Spiritual inspiration for me. My moral and spiritual support in the absence of both my Parents whom I loved so dearly!! I come to Mass every Sunday and I feel the presence of God in my Soul.
I was born in Miami my grandma went to Mass most every day. I would go downtown sometimes and attend mass in this beautiful Church I always felt close to God Im very spiritual I wanted to see if it was still there. Im in California now and I miss Miami Im very glad this beautiful church is still there
