Vey interesting exhibits. Well worth the time. We only spent a few hour there but you could easily stay 4-6 hours. I especially liked the collection of timepieces, astrolabs, sundial, etc.

Fantastic museum with a huge, well curated and varied collection. Explanations in writing in both German and English and audio guides are available. You could spend a whole day here. Like most things in Nuremberg this museum well and truly exceeded my expectations.

As a History A-Level Student I am a bit picky with museums but I loved the entire museum . They had an exhibition to about everything that I enjoy about history. Some exhibitions were sadly closed ( due to a staff shortage I believebut it was so worth it. And if youre a student, you pay a smaller entry fee sooooo

A great museum to the history of "Germanhood" covering from pre-history to the 20th century. It is quite big, so if you want to see everything you have to spend the day. Theres a cafe at the museum for food but I cannot comment on the possibility of leaving for a bite and returning to the exhibitions. There ar archaeological artifacts, art, Material culture from different periods and a section dedicated to musical instruments. Unfortunately one of the buildings was closed the day I visited due to the heat (summerand the absence of air conditioning. Prices are very affordable for entrance and totally worth it. I recommend to anyone visiting Nuremberg.

Loved it! So much to see but just enough in every subject/time period to keep it interesting. Some exhibits were closed but still plenty to fill our afternoon.Very creative how the museum wraps around and through the church and old abbey structures. The old world globes were the highlight for us!A must visit when in Nuremberg!

The museum is beautiful but every exhibition room gets closed at 17.30/40 even if the closing time should be 18.00. In the end I got out at 17.50 because it was impossible to visit anything, even if you wanted to just have a very quick look at some specific item.

If youre interested in the history of humankind even a bit, which you should be, this is a must place to visit. The biggest German history museum with extensive collection ranging from prehistory to this 20th century. And its not restricted to Germany alone but the history of whole Europe: stone age, metal ages, Roman kingdom, the spread of christianity etc. If youre really into it, you can easily spend there the whole day by enjoying a lunch in the courtyard cafe.

Extremely huge museum with lots of artifacts and explanations in English that’s free to visit on Wednesday evenings. There’s also a free bag storage area that requires a 1 EUR coin to use. Don’t miss this museum when visiting Nuremberg!

This museum is huge. Use your plan to find the way and to choose what you really want to see, otherwise you might get lost in the middle ages. Lots of great pieces on display. Maybe the disadvantage of this museum is, that it is just to big and has a bit of chaotic set up. My favorite part of the museum was the area with 20th century art that has a good set up and collection.

The presentation of the art and history of Nuremburg is beautiful. Im disappointed I didnt come here sooner. Recommend watching Rick Steves video on this museum and other videos to get acquainted first to make sense of it. My favorite is the folk art area, as it has great home decors! So underrated!

Visited here on Wednesday and surprisingly discovered that it’s free for Wednesday night. But the musical instruments part will be closed at night, I didn’t check the time so I missed it ><Before we talk about the museum ——— you need to know that this museum has a FANTASTIC shop. If you’re a tourist like me, you can find everything you need here —— they have a lot of interesting toys, stationeries, cards and souvenir. Another fantastic thing is they also sell vintage postcards!I want to send my big thank you to the museum shop lady! She’s super friendly and professional, I didn’t get a chance to ask her her name, or I would like to write a thank you letter to the museum for their amazing staff:)I spent a decade there to go through all these interesting cards. She replied all my questions and even shared some fun fact about German culture with me! I kind of feel I’m also in an exhibition of the museum haha. Highly recommend to visit the shop! For the museum itself ——It’s 10 mins walk from the main train station, super convenient! There’re a lot of food near by.All staffs are super friendly.Toilets are clean, the cafe is adorable. The museum has a lot of interesting thing! My favorite part will be the memorial shield… the design of Nuremberg’s memorial shield is so different from other parts of Europe. The museum building is also super cool, I took tons of photos on my Instagram.

I had very low expectations when I entered the museum, thinking it might be just boring and dull. But I was happy to admit I was wrong and was positively surprised. The museum exhibits so many great items and you don’t even need to try construct a narrative in order to enjoy them. Instead you will be deeply moved by the beauty of the ancient sculptures, classic and modern paintings, and all the historical artefacts, as if they were objects with lives and they’re still alive, telling you stories of their lives. The museum cafe was very nice. Clean and tidy and the staff very nice and professional. I had a cup of tea and it was very nice. As an added bonus, they even have edurom WiFi in the museum.Things couldn’t be better.

Germanisches National Museum is one of the best historical museums in Germany. It represented thousands of artifacts telling you story of German lands since Ancient times till XIX century. Collection of medieval art, arms and armor is splendid. This museum is "must see" place in Nuremberg. Visitors are allowed to take non-commercial photos without flash light and tripod.

This museum is so huge that almost lost in this labyrinth. It took me at least 3 hours to quickly glimpse through the whole exhibits. Really regretted not going a little earlier before it close. Just the building itself is magnificent. Do not miss out this one. IMPORTANT NOTE: there is another section of this museum about Toys in another building included in the ticket.

Very beautiful place with a mixture of ancient, contemporary and prehistoric arts and handicrafts. You will not get bored visiting the museum halls enriched with vast knowledge in the field of arts. The regular visitor fee is 8 euros and is to be paid at the front desk. No bags are allowed inside and if you have any then it has to be kept in a separate locker room. The staff was friendly and informative. This is a highly recommended place to visit in my opinion.

Nothing to write home about. A bit of everything, i guess it was a mistake to visit without the use of a guide... Lack of organization doesnt help also.Nevertheless, I found the museum shop very well stocked and interesting. Lots of history and art books, but also novels and best sellers.

I absolutely loved this place. It is an art and history universe with lot of exhibits from whole Europe as well as Nürenberg. Easily it takes 4-5 hours of your visit time. You first walk into Museum, buy your ticket and if you have any luggage, use a refunded Euro coin to use locker. Museum also has two exhibition halls. So dont forget to checkout them before leaving. There is a cafeteria available too.Dont forget to take your earphones, as there is an audio guide system. You can reach museum by catching U2 Bahn from Nürenberg central station and getting down at Opernhaus station. The museum is located between mediaeval walls so it is a nice feeling to walk there.

An outstanding museum. I never tire of it. Staff are helpful and friendly. The audio tour can be heard in English, and most of the exhibit descriptions have English translations. Wear comfortable shoes as you’ll likely be there for several hours. There is a full cafe if you need a break.

The building is light and airy and, on the day I visited, not at all busy. The amount of material on display is huge and the two hours I spent here only enabled me to dip into what was available. I kept on entering the rooms from the wrong direction and ending up seeing the displays in completely the wrong order. It might help to have some means of showing visitors a preferred route through the building. Displays were in German and English, so an English speaker needs no audio guide. I found it an exceptionally informative visit.

Amasing modern museum in the walls of old monastery. Highly recomended to join regular guuded group (timetable could be found on oficial site). Could satisfy the tastes of everybody: pictures (original Durrer and Rembrandt), a great collection of music instrumenrs, statues, clothe, plates and furniture, globuses and clocks, and so on and so on... Must visit in Nuremberg
