German Doner Kebab in Reading

Been ordering from GDK for a while now, always been great. Had some bad chicken once or twice but we are super super picky with meat, so could have been just that.Last time we ordered large beef doner box with chips. normally portions are massive and we love it but they were tiny this time. looked like either they messed up our orders and gave us regular or they made their portions smaller. either way im a lil dissapointed and after seeing some of the recent reviews here i probably wont be back.

Are the kebabs supposed to be served cold?? I’ve had about 5 different orders now and each one was stone cold. I’ve tracked my deliveries each time and none of them have been delayed nor far away from my home. The kebabs are awesome but I want a warm one!!! It seems like I’m being sent kebabs made earlier in the day which haven’t been bought.

Hunted this place out!Food was actually good, although suspiciously quick... A waffle stacked with meat, hiding a thwack of heat from a dose of chilli (comes as standard).No salad, staff were really really bad. Ive had better acknowledgement from a turnstile. Oh well. Would go again after 10 pints, not before 9 though.

This place was upmarket. The food was outstanding!! Staff very happy . Can wait for my next visit .

Always dry. No option to add sauce in the kebab.. "melted cheese" addition wasnt a noticeable addition. Also their app sucks considering how big this chain is.

First time I have tried a chicken doner from German doner it was dry chicken no test at all and never gona be back again it’s just the name it’s waste of money

I’ve been ordering from here for months,it’s our favourite takeaway however I’ve noticed that you have upped your prices and cut down on the portions which I think it’s very unfair! I’m happy to pay the amount but still get the same portion as before

Chips were disgusting and the meat was luke warm. It tasted like the next day warmed up. Leave the kebabs to the Turkish because when I eventually get off the toilet, I will be reporting you to Environmental Health!!!!!!!!

They gave us our food cold, I told then they took it away within 2mins they brought it back cold again the 3rd time I asked to take it away in a box they took removed some of the meat guessing out of spite they are rude and clearly incapable of knowing how to produce food at an expected standard of heat, I didnt even want to give them a stae but you have to in order to post

Delivered 30,000 meals over the pandaemic. Should be nominated for community champion, flaming and curry fries are really tasty, cherry tango ice blast is also really yummy. Staff are plentiful and always nice.

I have changed my review as I have discovered GDK takes feedback very seriously. As a loyal customer I was in store and I rudely interrupted a managers meeting and I told them that the salad is never placed evenly throughout the kebab but only at the back of the kebab. Literally the week after every kebab I had had the salad evenly spread. Well done for listening to your customers

German kebab nice sandwich served in waffle bread. Sometimes not enough sauce and salad and the salad is stuffed down the bottom of the sandwich so you eat all the meat and you end with a load of salad at the bottom.

Ordered from this place last night for dinner. And was excited to try it for the first time but unfortunately mine doner didn’t come with any sauce which was mentioned on the ubereats info when i ordered it .. the doner i choose in the info it says this one comes with 3sauces but it didn’t come with any sauce at all and was a bit disppointed and was so dry :( i did put 3sauce in my list before but when i saw the info on the doner i choose it says the doner comes with 3special sauce so i delete my sauce from the list as obviously if it already comes with the doner why should i buy extras as i’m not gonna have 6sauces for one doner ughh either the info is wrong or they forgot to put sauce in my bag :( it’s okay mistake can happens but please if it doesn’t come with the sauce remove the info on ubereats as it says it does come with the doner. Overall it was good because it was so dry without the sauce i had to make sauce myself mixing spicy chilli sauce and mayo together. Also i bought that cheesy fries which i paid £2.99 lol at the portion it was little portion and 1-2 little drops of cheese on the fries. I think for that portion it’s unacceptable to charge £2.99 because u can get the fries for £1 or £1.99 with big portion somewhere else. So i would recon to not buy fries from this place but try the doner and make sure u get the sauce for better taste maybe.

I found hair in my food. When confronting the clown behind the counter I was told its my hair. Explain this Im a black guy how did I have straight brown very much Asian hair? I let that slide threw my food in the bin said thank you and left. Thought Id give em another go this time whilst waiting I saw what looked like a mice or a baby rat Im not sure as it looked really small but could clearly see it rummaging around the chips bag on the floor. I told the guy and he abused me and told me to leave. The problem here is its run by money hungry clowns who dont want to provide a decent service but take your money. Firstly health and safety need to review this place asap secondly those who run this franchise need to be reported to someone in a higher position. They dont care when you as a customer brings something as disgusting as hair in food or rats in a kitchen to their attention. Honestly avoid this place and report it god knows what youre putting in your body

Doner full of salad mostly lettuce prices are twice than a very good lamb kofta burger in another shop around corner full meal deal.Not happy with price and product received.

Ordered beef, received chicken. No apologies, no refund given. Staff claimed chicken is beef. Avoid if you can.

Been better but still very good. In the past boxes with chilli or garlic sos was always full, not really same now- but staff and food good

Food hygiene very low. Boy who is packing the food sneezing in his hands and touching peoples food without washing his hands. Someone need to give them proper infection prevention training.

DO NOT ORDER A TAKEAWAY.I have ordered many times TAKEAWAY and dine in and it is completely definite. I have ordered I doner kebab takeaway literally just one bit from the top and the meet is gone all left was just salad. So disappointed

It was the best donner in Reading, sadly since they increased the price also reduced the portion size, ordered mixed donner kebab and there was literally 1 slice of lamb inside so tiny, definitely will not come again.

Kebabs are different but very tasty and loads of fillings. Loads of options to chose from. Can highly recommend.

Hands down the best kebab in town; specializes in chicken or beef with a variety of sauces. Not quite the Gemuse Kebab experience but consistently good, high quality meat. Bit pricy, but the quality keeps me coming back. I do wish they would extend the closing time at weekends ( closed midnight, variable after 2300 when eating in is available). Do try it.

Stylish with a modern simple twist. Tasty enough menu without kebab feeling which is associated with alcohol. Would recommend as a place to stop whilst on your way about the day.

Second time but now definitely the last - if youre after fast food takeaway avoid this place. 35 minutes wait for a diner and a coke - it wasnt busy so no idea why it takes so long. Was same problem on 2 visits ...there are other kebab places thatll serve you in 5 mins so I suggest going there

DO NOT order a takeaway from this place. I ordered a large chicken durum wrap recently with salad on the side. No salad was present and the extra large wrap was pathetic in size and tasted just as poor.And for a cost of over £7 50. Criminal.I complained and got completely dismissed with some standard response from the GDK customer service team.You have been warned!!!!!

Good food when you actually get to taste it, twice I have ordered from this place and both times its like where is wally with the meat 😂. Ordered a mixed kebab with extra meat but got one slither of beef kebab with 4 pieces of chicken. But it did come with loads of salad . Sometimes you get lucky with this place to get what you paid for other times you do feel like you been cheated out of a meal. I gave it 1 stars as quality and quantity needs to be improved. By quality the food was ice cold to the point I could use it as an ice pack.

Friendly staff, easy access near Reading Station and bus stops. This premise has good simple comfort food. Drinks come in cans. Good portion. Overall very good.

Pros and cons here...Presentation was good, the box is a nice touch. Good job corporate 👌Kebab itself was really nice, a bit greasy (but it is a kebab, so thats fine, dont get me wrong). Packed full of meat and prepared perfectly with the additions I ordered (not skimpy on the meat either if you go large!And the signature sauces are top-notch.Two reasons why I didnt give five stars:Chips: I upgraded my regular chips to cheesy ones. The sauce reminds me of something that you get in America, cheese out of a can. (I realise this isnt what they actually use but its the only comparison I could make). I thought it was rancid, so I didnt even eat a quarter of them. If you look on the photo, you can sorta see cheese seeping through the bag with the chips in 😷Chilli Cheese bites: although they were nice, I think the portion size - four - isnt really a portion, in my opinion. If I was to buy it seperately for £4 (deliveroo priceand received four, id be fuming. Theyre nice, but theyre not worth £1 each.All in all, would return.

Amazing first experience the food was amazing and very delicious and unique and the service at the restaurant was great the food arrived very quickly❕The interior is beautiful!! Very contemporary rustic and cozy atmosphere🤍 the vibes are cool and there are many seating options which accommodate for groups or individuals! This makes it a great place for friends night out.Also the seats are very comfortable and the place in general is very clean and tidy!The food is reasonably priced and is very delicious (i don’t usually like meat but the way it’s prepared here become one of my favourites)The only missing thing is dessert options I think this what was missing but overall it’s great and the staff are very accommodating and helpful❕

I ordered the mix doner kebab to eat in. Thumbs up to the food which was tasty & arrived quickly, place was also clean, thumbs down to only getting the one miserly napkin & no fork!! Definitely better then the Ilford branch!

Absolutely furious ! I have used this place a few times and had not one complaint , up until tonight I ordered two kebabs ! One with NO salad NO sauce and extra meat ! I got less meat then when I normally order extra and onions sauce and salad in it !!!! Straight into bin as son will not touch salad or sauce hence i removed all items !!! Second kebab all salad all sauce extra meat , with tomatoe removed !! I got a not only once again complete messed up order of dry bread , all red cabbage and two mouthfuls of meat no sauce no salad and dry that I could not eat it but apart to pick out the so little meat it had !!! £22 pound wasted tried to get refund with delivery but only gave me not even half the money back !!! So may as threw the money done the toilet !!! Will not be back and now as I once did will not be recommending this place ever again ! One expensive waste of time !

Oh wow. The good is amazing. We ate in and the service was fast and the place was clean. I would love a chain like this in Northern Ireland.

O M G this is a premium kebab place that I would recommend to everyone! High quality food, vegetarian options, speedy service with a smile, covid rules observed. Portions are humongous and I think that £9.99 for the take away meal box like the pic attached is a steal! Will be going back, thanks

This takes kebabs to next level. They know how to treat customers. Fast efficient service. Food is always warm and same taste and quality every time. Went there with friends and they absolutely loved it. Now regular customers. Brilliant addition to what’s normally boring reading town centre.

Ordered Doner Quesadilla, even paid for "Go Large". I dont think that my was "Large", maybe not even medium. Missing meat and all vegetables and sauces. This costs 8£. Shame on you bois!!

The best kebabs Ive ever had. This place takes your average street food and knocks it up a notch with huge portion sizes and great prices. Its cheaper than most other kebab places and 10 times the quality.Their Doner or chicken find it into pretty much every menu item and that is not a bad thing. Even the look of the restaurant is clean, professional and pretty.

Used to be best service. It now cashier knows who to argue. Poor customer service and less portion. Maria the cashier told this is the right amount of chips inside.👎👎👎👎

Great place for a tasty gourmet doner kebab meal (which included the special handmade toasted bread, chips with three dips and a drink - good value ratio of £7.49 for a tasty meal). Went when it was less busy and service was good; meal arrived in 5 mins after placing the order. Staff are friendly and welcoming.The place is clean, spacious, and wheelchair accessible (as per the photo). Furthermore, the meals are halal certified. Overall great addition to the area and would recommend people try the place once.

The portions are massive, very meety but they should be more generous with sauces. The taste is good but not mind blowing. The fries quite rehash and drinks at room temperature, we didnt get a glass with it and of course no ice. The place looks good and clean. The staff are quite slow, they dont seem to be trained, the place was almost empty and we had to wait at least 15 min.

Firstly, the food was good and reasonably priced, which is why everything else was such a shame. Kebabs are tasty and good portion size. Fries are standard. Chilli cheese bites are not at all chili, and well overpriced. They forgot to give us sauce with the chill cheese bites.Queued 40 minutes just to place the order. Teething problems for a new place are totally understandable, but when the one guy on the till is spending time showing customer all the types of sauces they have in the kitchen, and 20 people are queuing to the door, its ridiculous. The whole place is overstaffed, undertrained and underprepared. He then messed up the order of the guy in front of me which caused a delay - but after waiting 30 minutes, whats another 10 minutes? I guess the debacle with the other customers order upset him, because he wasnt particularly friendly, and was quite abrupt and rude to me. He didnt give me a receipt or even ask me if I wanted one.No option of salt or cutlery. Sauces are in very small portions. Drinks served in bottles, but no straws - I dont want to drink from a bottle that I dont know where its been. Music too loud. Door is left open by 50% of people that enter/leave - get a door that doesnt stay open.
