Multiple lakes for boating, fishing & windsurfing plus multi-use woodland trails, campsites & more.
Older park. Has nice big trees. Nice to be close to Cedar Falls were all the museums are. The Sullivan brothers was great! John Deere was interesting and free! While we were in the state park for 3 days we never saw a ranger drive by and no one was at the gate entrance.
They should privatize this park.Fire the lazy over paid D and R personal.
Great camping spot. Can hear highway sound tho.
Nice, quiet place to escape. Camping was great priced and awesome sites.
Its a pleasant and quiet place to go for a slow ride or walk.
Fair fishing ,(it was super hotbut 5 or 6 lakes in 10 or so miles.
hike around, around, but water is nasty. E coli warning signs posted.
So many birds here!!! Very green and pretty paved/flat trails. Good space to stretch your legs.
The campground has clean bathroom & showers. Lots of trees for shade. A playground for kids to play in and a large open area for campers to play a variety of games. Theres also a number of lakes for boating, kayaking and fishing as well as a paved bike trail that runs throughout the park.
I loved the George Wyth beach and park when I was living in Waterloo Iowa it was fun at the park because there is a playground and you can fish there and grill out there and at the beach you could buy snacks and food and fish bait and drinks and you can rent some things to play on and you can even fish there to. I live with my fiance and our daughter her name is lily she is 3 mouths she will be 4 mouths on this Friday on the 22ed I live in Manitowoc Wisconsin now thats why if my mom and dad and brothers if they go there I am not with them when they go. This is our daughter 😊
Beautiful park
Nice place to fish and hike and to just have a picnic.
It was nice kind of loud but very big and plenty of places to be by yourself
Nice quiet campground but lots of traffic noise from the nearby freeway. Not all sites have electric so be careful when you book.
Excellent park with fishing, camping and trails. Clean with food facilities the Park Ranger and camp hosts are friendly and helpful. Very well ran- great job!!
Always something different. If I wanna run my boat at speed I head over to Brinker lake. Alice wyth has some good fishing. Always something to see. Like this alligator snapping turtle in the road today
Great bike trails and hiking. Nice camp ground. Lots of places to Kayak. If you want to just be in nature for awhile, it is a great place to go in the Cedar Valley.
Close to activities and the camp hosts are great. Only drawback, as with all places, is there always seems to be those that are pigs and believe someone else should clean up their messes.
Really nice campground. So many trees and a beautiful river. Bugs werent too bad. Flies do bite, but nice little beach area, tons of baby frogs when we went. Plenty of spots and well worth the price!! Very affordable and showers are kept up.
Favorite place to hang by the beautiful water.
Its an OK park for the area I guess. But it seems park staff do almost NOTHING about the amount of trash thats EVERYWHERE laying around in the park. Especially near shorelines. Its pretty disgusting. I was expecting the cleanliness of a park like Backbone State Park, but found the total opposite at George Wyth. George Wyth is tiny compared to Backbone so I would think it would be easier to keep it as clean as Backbone, but if you hike the woods, walk the shorelines and just generally pay attention, youll see trash and garbage everywhere laying around in George Wyth. Its really too bad.
Always beautiful nature trails the beach the campground is nice too.
Nice relaxing place to camp with few trails and fishing spots . Swimming for the kids.
Calming place to be camping, fishing, swimming, or walk. Beautiful nature and wildlife for photography too!
Great for fishing, hiking and camping. Has a lot of snakes in the spring and summer so just be careful. Watch for geese and turtles. Also deer do run across the roads in the park, so please just stop speeding in this park. Just stop speeding in general. Speed limits are limits for a reason. Dont be stupid and be responsible and respectful. CLEAN UP YOUR GARBAGE/TRASH!!! I DO NOT WORK THERE AND IM SICK OF CLEANING UP AFTER RANDOM PEOPLE.
Love George Wyth! Something new to explore every time you visit.
Great run and beautiful trail and park to run. Pretty easy course and lots of trails.
Amazing park for being in the middle of town! Great trails for hiking and biking. Biking trails can be hard to navigate but the trails are on a few mountain biking apps. The lake is always packed in the summer with boats. I would highly recommend renting a kayak and exploring some of the lakes!
Overall an awesome park, lots of river access and several lakes. Great bike paths, very scenic. As for camping, the campground is rather small and tight. However, there are a few sites along the river that can accommodate a small camper. No electricity, but the view is awesome! We had site 18, loved it. Fished right behind the camper and caught a few walleye. A pair of bald eagles were right across from us and even came down to bathe in the river.Be aware, the park, and especially the campground map, is WAY off for scale, everything is a lot closer than shown.
I live near George Wyth and were there so often that the Grandkids think its "my" park. We love it.
We had a pretty good experience the one night we stayed. $18 for electric and really close to the river. It was pretty quiet in our site. All sites seem quite level.
The park is a beautiful exsamle of native Iowa nature. It also features some playgrounds, fishing spots and water access for kayaks and such. If your looking for a place to get lost in nature then this is a natural choice!
On the way back to cedar rapids we took a pit stop here, I really enjoyed the place. Nice windy atmosphere with quite good scenic view… the only disturbance is the vehicle sound.. it view is near to a highway.
Best place to spend time with family 👪. Nice lake views. Multiple shelters available
Had a beautiful day kayaking. Rented our kayaks from Maxx Rentals. Great price for the quality of our kayaks and the experience we had.
Love George wyth. Multiple lakes to kayak or fish or just take a boat out. Alot of spots to grill and hangout or use playground. Also theres a free beach with kayak, paddleboard rentals.
Love Maxx Rentals. Great deals on boat rentals and the best snacks
Ahhh the great outdoors. Camping season is in its beginning of the season stages. Not too many people out as of now. Quite a few open spots for tents, campers. Electric/nonelectric for those of us who can handle roughing it. But if you need electricity and water they have that too. $6 tent camp, $13 for electric and $18 full service water and electricity. Friendly people. Good clean camping fun!
The trails were well maintained, but there isnt much for scenery and you can hear the traffic from the interstate throughout the entire park.
It is nice that the roads are plowed, so we have a place to walk outside!
Great winter camping! But being winter, less trees and foliage to block the sounds of the local freeways. Not a deal breaker by any means. Cant wait till there is ice so I can camp and fish some hard water
I went here a few times to grill out and be outside while I was visiting family. They have some really nice picnicking spots and the split pavilion is super cool. The park is located right by a highway though so youll hear some traffic from time to time depending on where you are at. The grounds are very well maintained and there are several places to dump your trash.
I loved all.the water including a lily pond and marshy areas as well as a beach. There are many little booms and crannies of picnic areas that you can still enjoy some social distance and just privacy.
Love this place. Nice bicycle trails and also lot of water based activities. Cedar river flows through this park and tends to flood when it rains too much or the snow melts in early spring.
I love it here. There is lots to do, from having a picnic, swimming and fishing areas, boat docks if you have your own, or a rental place if you dont. The playground areas are well maintained and the bathrooms arent bad either. In the current climate it is easy to keep your distance, while still being outdoors. It can be a bit confusing the first few times so I would recommend a map or navigation aid until you are familiar with the area.
Beautiful park, multiple trails and they do a well job of keeping the paths clear
Great place to kayak or walk around and enjoy the park.
Nice park and campground. Sites are spaced well. If you dont want electric hookup, there are some beautiful spots on the river! Shower house is clean and private stalls. Could use more room for changing, but just fine. There is a potable water faucet at the dump station. GREAT bike trails and well maintained hiking trails., too. There is a near-by airport, highway and railroad so occasionally there is noise but nothing too bad. Oh, and Cedar Falls downtown is just 5 mins from the park entrance. Good fun there too. A couple tasty breweries and restaurants. Pics are from around the park mid-July.
This is a beautiful park. There are a couple camping areas, several playgrounds for kids, a beach for swimming, several boat ramps, and some nice trails throughout.
Excellent view.... Really nice setup.... Lots of bike/hiking trails. There is a canoe/kayak rentals. Nice camping area. Just plain gorgeous....
