Genting Thai Restaurant - Thai restaurant in Cill Airne, Ireland
Probably one of the best restaurants in Killarney, consistently good, never had a bad meal here, staff are always friendly, the menu has great variety and the turn around from ordering to eating is always prompt, highly recommended it.
Eating here is like being on a movie set! Youre waiting for some one to say "Action"! Food is very good and quick! Staff are great!
My husband and I have had Thai Food all over, and this location had some of the best sampler/lemongrass soup weve ever had.
Service was poor was nt offered tea or coffee or dessert felt rushed the waiter wearing woolly hat I know its part of his image but not proper head wear for where food being served
Im a long time customer of this restaurant, before this restaurant located in the Innisfallen Shopping Complex. This restaurant is now located on Beech Road. What makes this restaurant standout is the atmosphere within the restaurant and the hospitality of its employees. The settings inside are attractive, cutleries, furniture, feels like you are in the restaurant in a five stars hotel. Outdoor sittings also available but limited. Among all the Asian restaurants in Killarney, only this restaurant maintains its food consistency. This is why Im still their customer. The lunch set menu is very cheap and offers great options. Its only € 17 per person (noodles extra € 1). Available on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Why stress out of shopping, cooking and cleaning on the weekends while you can enjoy affordable delicious foods in relaxing atmosphere? The Lunch Menu offers three courses that includes starter, main course, fruit salad with ice-cream and tea or coffee. Coffee was nice. Ive never tried the tea. Here are the foods Ive eaten here that meet my five stars standard. The starters are tom kha, tom yum, gai satay, spring rolls, crispy golden wontons, sesame chicken, nua satay, duck spring rolls and tempura prawns with plum sauce. The main courses are crispy roast duck with a dressing of crispy noodles and tamarind sauce, beef with cashew nuts and chilli oil, tiger prawns with mixed vegetables in oyster sauce, pad thai, genting special fried rice, chicken massaman curry and beef in red curry . Should be note: curries are nicer to go with meats from the land. e.g chicken and beef.I strongly encourage you to dine in the restaurant rather than take-away. This is because the take-away container can slightly change the taste of your food. Unless it doesnt bother you, take-away would be the option for you.See also their set menu of two and four. Once you split your bills, you found it is value for money. For example set menu of four will cost you only € 37.47 per person. They also offers massive alcohol drinks selection. They have a full licence bar.
Good vegan options. The restaurant is stylish and very clean. Staff was quick and friendly. I had the vegan pad Thai and I loved it so much that I got it to takeaway later that week. Wish there was more tofu in the dish, but overall very tasty.
Good service but food was not very good. The tasting sampler for apps was very greasy and all tasted the same/had the same texture. Pad Thai was very basic, not anything special or memorable.
We enjoyed a delicious meal here on Saturday evening, despite being really busy we had fantastic, attentive service. Thank you for a great evening.
Went for dinner here last Sunday evening. First impressions were positive but deteriorated rapidly. Service was brutal, we seemed to have been forgotten about constantly, even after reminding staff. Starters were OK, but the mains when they finally arrived were awful. My wife and I had chicken, which was tasteless and tough and which we left largely uneaten. My wifes mother had beef which was completely inedible. When we spoke to the manager the best I can say is he was completely unhelpful, such was his disinterest. Suffice it to say that the next time we are in Killarney we will NOT be darkening their door. Unfortunately I cant award zero stars. A thoroughly unpleasant experience.
I have eaten there a lot but my last visit i was a little taken aback, normally im with adults but this time i was with a group that happened to have two buggies with two sleeping babies. You swear it was the end of the world and made a bit of a big deal by huffing and puffing. Apparently he doesnt like buggies even tho these were not on the walkway. The supervisor or Manager as i dont know what he is (fella in a grey shirtbadly needs a people management course as far as families are concerned, i wouldnt mind but it was said on the phone there was 12 adults, 4 kids and 2 buggies and it was booked for 6pm so there was hardy anyone there. The rest of the staff are lovely and the food was as good as always just a pity about his attitude
Starter was raw but was rectified when brought to managers attention.prawn and pork so not a good combination if not fully cooked. Main course was decent. Service was good
Excellent food despite waiting over a hour for our mains. Lovely resturant but seems a bit understaffed in the kitchen. The quality of the food made up for it. I recommend the beef with chilly oil.
Great food and staff served very quickly and it was very busy big portions and good prices.
The food was nice but servings were pretty small. Service was fast but I thought those serving us were not particularly friendly.
I have read other review about rude staff in this restaurant and unfortunately it happened to us.Our waiter seemed to be in a rush and we were having difficulties to understand him due to his thick chinese accent and limited English, he was visibly annoyed and started explaining in very unpleasant tones. When we asked him to repeat our order just to make sure there was no misunderstanding, he got offended, start shouting at us and stormed away.Another waitress come over to take our order, she was very nice, and it takes her less than 1 minutes to get everything noted down. The food was dissapointing and it cannot compensate the unpleasantness we have experienced earlier. At a chinese takeaway you can get better food with half the price cheaper minus the restaurant athmosphere.
Very nice ❤
Not authentic thai food and Super tiny portion of sauce and lacking any authentic taste And extremely long wait when the place is not packed with customers. After we finished our starter plates were placed on table and we expected our main course to arrive but unfortunately after 20 mins nothing arrive. They should invest in taste and staff not on aesthetic of the place.
Nicest Thai in Killarney. Best place for a take away too. Loads of options and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Always visit when in Killarney :)
The waitress, Ciara or Cara not sure what her name was exactly . She was very rude and unfortunately ruined our whole experience she was unprofessional chewing gum loudly in our face and had a very bad attitude turned me and my partner completely off our food. It really is a pity because the food was delicious and well presented!! It’s unfortunate that the service we received wasn’t the same. It’s such a shame that me and my wife’s night was completely ruined because of it, We would not recommend here to family or friends because the service was that poor unfortunately we will not return to this establishment again.
Beautiful place. Very nice staff. Food delicious. Definitely visit here again.
Before ordering I asked the manager if I could order from the early bird section and swap in a vegetarian option, as there was nothing on the early bird menu to accommodate vegetarians. He said, yes, that this would be fine. I assumed that his staff would know that vegetarian options can be swapped in on the early bird too. However, when the bill came I had been charged for each item individually. When this was queried and the manager called, he said that it was my fault, as I had not told the server, is that my responsibility as a paying customer? He told me that he would not be covering that and that I would have to pay what was stated on the bill. His whole attitude towards the matter was disagreeable and frankly, quite rude. This really tainted what had been up until that point a pleasant evening. Wouldnt go back.
Friendly staff. Beautifully decorated restaurant. The food is so delicious.Quite a variety of dishes to choose from.I will definitely be returning to this restaurant again.
Extremely disappointed. Firstly noodles came out ice cold. Straight from the fridge. Crispy chicken was luke warm, not crispy and tasted like left overs. When I sent it back a few minutes later it came back crispy but tasted awful. Obviously throw into fryer and slapped back. Service was not up to standard whatsoever. Couldnt care less. Very disappointing. Never again.
Everything perfect 👏Staff so friendly welcome us 😊food also delicious 😋Especially my favorite 😍 "tomyum gung"and pad thai chicken. We so enjoyed .😘Thanks all staff and chef genting thai restaurant .🤝🤝🤝We will come back again😃🤗🥳🤠😎🥳
The fact that you have to pay additionally for rice to go with a curry is just silly - and at almost four euro for a tiny cup of rice it’s practically offensive. The food was not bad, but nothing to write home about. This is Thai food for British folk, and everyone knows the reputation their palettes have. Good Thai places will thinly slice the chili in their curries - here they just appear as chunks in the curry and aren’t even spicy. I believe that’s a larger symptom of the UK where none of the food here has real spice. Staff also could be more attentive. Had my food cleared and had finished my meal, and was basically ignored for 20 minutes when I was asked by someone who wasn’t even my server if I wanted anything else. Meanwhile multiple staff glanced my way and went to arrange cutlery on empty tables - and it’s not like there was a line out the door.
Come here often with the family. The food is fantastic and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. The staff are friendly and it generally has a good atmosphere.
Excellent Menu... Food always consistently of a very high standard. Restaurant is very clean and spacious, very Friendly Staff. Always look forward to dining there when I visit Killarney.👍😀
Unbelievable food and atmosphere, customer service is top class. I really enjoy having food at Genting, you will be surprised how well everything works in there. A1😍
That food is soooo good and the staff is efficient and lovely.
Very disappointing. Cold welcoming , waiting a bit for table as place was nearly empty. Staff engaged mostly with take-away orders. Main dish was good but came with extremely small PAID side rice , absolutely unacceptable , disgraceful. €4 for literally 3 table spoons of cooked rice .... cant believe it , are for real Genting Thai ???
Definitely recommend. Friendly staff and good food.
Can’t say I was impressed. From a vegan point of view I‘d actually give it two stars, but my omnivore brother and his wife like the food so I‘ll try to be fair. The waiter was rather inexperienced I think, we ordered jasmine tea and got black tea (with the bag already/still in the pot, not knowing how long it has already been in there). They have an extra menu for vegetarian/vegan dishes but don’t actually specifiy which is vegan. No prices on there either. The waiter asked if vegan means „no animal products at all“. As a side dish I was offered steamed rice, fried rice and noodles and I chose the noodles ending up with eggfried noodles which I had so send back. A different waiter treated me like I was supposed to know the noodles had eggs. The food was ok, my peanut satay sauce barely tasted peanuty and wasn’t as creamy as I am used to it. The vegetables were tasty and cooked on point, the tofu rather dull.On the plus side: we had a dog with us and one of the waiters offered a bowl of water for him, very attentive.
Myself and my husband had a meal here last night while on a staycation in Kerry. We could not recommend the place more! Staff and the atmosphere were lovely! The food & cocktails were delicious! We were both absolutely stuffed leaving. The only thing we were disappointed by was leaving this meal for our last day of our trip so we could not visit it again! We will definitely be going again, the next time we are in Killarney!!
Excellent experience, so professional even though its outdoor dining and it was lashing rain you wouldnt know it here, staff was very polite and friendly and couldnt do enough. 1st of a few nights in killarney and Im looking forward to going back. Well done all 💯👌
Me and my husband were accommodated even if we booked right on the spot. The food is delicious.
Great food, friendly staff reasonable price and great food. Clean plates all round. Yummy.
A nice and authentic Thai restaurant. The food was amazing, with genuine presentation and Thai flavor. The stuff was attentive and quick. The restaurant itself has beautiful adornments that definitely contribute to a nice experience
Very nice place. Food was delicious. Service impeccable.
Fantastic ambience, top quality service, delicious food.
Loved this place,Good stafs, great blend of spicy, sweet and other spices, if you are in killarney, do visit this restaurant, would suggest to pre book your table to avoid long wait.Negative: might need to wait for some time for main course..
Good sized portions but taste had been modified to suit the Western palate. Otherwise, nice restaurant!
Well laid out restaurant. Good service. Very expensive for what it is. Main dish with fried rice and a starter was €34 for 1 person, no drinks or drsserry. Starter was lovely. Main course was bland. No heat despite having 2 chillis beside on the menu. Prawns in the main were tasteless lumps of rubber. Portion size was generous. Unfortunately for the price you expect a lot better.
You can always trust Genting Thai for a delicious meal. Elegant decor and friendly staff at this lovely restaurant. A very good menu and the food is plentiful and tasty. We (two of ushad ordered:Starters:Chicken Spring role and chicken creamy soup.Main course:Special Thai Fried rice and Crispy Creamy Duck Roast.Overall, it was a wonderful experience in Genting Thai and by the end of the meal we were already planning our next visit here!
We regularly drive from an hour away to have their Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups that almost seem like they’re shipped from home. Be sure to try one of these soups with plain rice for an authentic experienceOther dishes are authentically southeast asian but cannot compare to their awesome soups.
Delicious food, very friendly and patieng personnel. In stead of 21A I ordered by mistake 21. In less than 5 minutes I got the meal I like to have. Well done!!!Various prices depending on the day or time of dining.
Good food and service at this spot. This is authentic Thai cuisine in Killarney, which isn’t something I expected to find. I highly recommend the platter option as your starter as it lets you try a number of different options (all of which were really good). We had mixed reviews regarding the Pad Thai; some people really enjoyed it and others felt it was only okay. There was consensus that the number 45 (duck dishis amazing.
We ordered sizzling crispy chicken and crispy chicken with sauce, neither dish was crispy or sizzling. In fact both dishes were soggy and luke warm. The sizzling crispy chicken tasted like it had been microwaved. Each dish was a little more than €13 and neither came with rice, you have to pay an additional €3.90 for rice, and its not a lot of rice. Ive had better repared meals from Aldi.
The service and food are amazing!!! Loved the pad Thai and Tom Ka soup! Highly recommend!!!
Very good. Decent food thats well prepared by chefs who clearly know what theyre doing and actually give a damn about the end product. It may be the more expensive Asian restaurant and take out in Killarney but its very much worth the few extra Euros for the superior difference in the quality of the meats, sauces, vegetables and preparation. They dont deliver but to order over the phone and then collect is not a problem when youre guaranteed a good meal. Very happy with both the polite and helpful staff and the tasty dinner we enjoyed. Well recommended.
Amazing Thai restaurant. The food was delicious and we had a great time. Will definitely come back here again.
