Naypyitaw, Myanmar (Burma), Magway
4-level facility with a museum showcasing Burmese jewels, plus 3 floors of shops for rubies & more.
Basically no visitors there. During our visit, we are the only visitors in the museum. The 2 stars is rated for the friendly staff.
Precious stones and any others minerals.
Unfortunately its is closed because of COVID..
It is surreal ! Rubies and Sapphires.wonderful!
Interesting Myanmar Gems
Nice place to know Myanmar jewelry
Stall keepers harass you a bit making for a less pleasant visit but some bargains to be found.
Good collection. You can bargain also.
The museum has good history and relevant knowledge about gems in the country. If you are looking for shopping take cheap stones from ground floor. Avoid the costlier ones if you dont have good knowledge of the quality.
You will why we called Golden Land Myanmar after visiting this place.
It is held gem stone exhibition at Gem Museum. At that time there is crowded. There are many visitors of local and international. mostly are Chinese. When there is gem museum, the taxi drivers are happy very much because they have a chance to send somewhere. Please be in mind, there are a lot of Chinese smoking at public place.
Myanmar is famous for its precious stones such as ruby, diamond, jade etc. Every stone has a story to tell and it begins here. . .Its a good place to start to understand the origin of these gem stones, the amount of efforts put into it to make it to the final stage where they find their ultimate destiny with some adorning the necks of royalty.Below the museum is the emporium where visitors can buy whats within their budget. You can rest assured that they are of quality made and genuine unlike those sold outside.
A good place to learn about Myanmar, and many unique precious minerals.
You should visit to there. There are many gems shops.
So much for you to learn and see. If you are really into gems, dedicate more than 2 hours to your visit. Labels are in English and Burmese. I had a staff member, a geology graduate go around and explain some things that were not clear to me and she went above and beyond. I dont know how well English is spoken in general, but they used geological/gemmological terms in English while explaining in Burmese which was extra helpful. They feature a large array of stones in their native and natural forms as well as polished, faceted and for some in their set versions. They have some carvings and decorative pieces and jewellery from as far back as the 1800s but that was limited. Jadeite is what they showcase most. Strictly no photography but they will permit you to enter with your phone (I used mine for research). Really impressive place. Closes 4:20pm; 7000ks/2000ks entrance. I must return.
Gem Museum supervised and controlled by Ministry of Mines before and now under Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Ministry. Most of valuable Gem ( Ruby Saphire could be located Mogok Township Northern Myanmar collected from White Marble.Ruby Saphire Jade and various kinds of not much valuable Gem also shown overthere. When you enter the building you can see Myanmar King going to sell Highest valuable Ruby to one of foreigner. The foreigner so amazing the price of The Kings Ruby because cant able to fix the price. He surrender to buy that Ruby because of the price . We expect that Ruby could be located the hat of Queen England. You better visit to Gem Museum.
Museum has 2 floor. First floor is store, sells jewelry and souvenirs. There are lots of thing with different prices from cheap to expensive. Second floor is museum display gems and jewelry. The museum is displayed quite nice and interesting.
Museum is very good. Be careful about the shops below it. They are exorbitantly costly and there is absolutely no guarantee about the quality of material sold there. The people who sell their are neither authorized by the Government nor are they in any way controlled for their material quality by the Government of Myanmar.
Nice building, good location, many kinds of mind stone and gems, well train staff.
Great collection of gems found in Myanmar. Gem shops are plenty.
Amazing gem and precious stones
Very informative and polite staff there, you can buy gems and jewelry at the basement shops.
Fair price and good quality
The show room is at the 1st floor. Very huge hall with varieties of gems available. There are gems market store at the ground floor. Can bargain for the best price.
A really interesting museum to visit, it will occupy probably half a day, with half of that spent on looking at all those jade, gems, and other stone - and the other on shopping for them. The cost of the ticket which I forget is well worth it. You will need to place your belongings in a locker, understandably, before entering the museum. The jade and precious stones are a wonder to behold. There are English speaker assistants around to explain to you the display but if you are in a hurry it can become a hindrance but if you have time its really best to learn from them. You cant take pictures in the museum! Equally awesome is the shopping part. You can spend anywhere from 1USD to 100USD to 1000USD depending on what you buy. I usually buy the USD1 jade bracelets or the tigers eye for I think 3 for USD5. You can buy elephant figurines too in jade! Pay in USD because you get a better price. Best to buy whatever you want and to as much your budget will allow - squeeze every dollar, you will regret it if you dont! Enjoy!
In Gems Museum. precious jewels such as ruby and sapphire. quality jade lots and the largest pearl in Myanmar are put on display.
Lovely place with a lot of gems and a great place to buy gems.
This museum showcases the prosperity of natural resources Myanmar has been endowed with. Just incredible.

Not really a proper museum but simply a collection of different types of stones. Cost USD7.00 entry fee. Not really worth it.But the market place with stalls selling gem stones are worth buying from. Friends say they bought genuine stones at very good prices. I didnt buy any.
Myanma Gems Museum (NPT)
Incredible collection and a free personal English tour (after paying the 5USD admission). Artifacts are well labeled with facts about the minerals, as well as what they are used for in Myanmar and the world.
The best gems museum in myanmar
Fabulous museum, I have been there dozens of times and still love it. The souvenir shops are very nice with honest professional staff offering everything from jade and rubies to cretaceous Amber with and without inclusions.
Impressive yet uninteresting.Theres no information boards explaining the stories behind the pieces (just maybe the dimensions and place of origin).Would be better if there were bilingual signs explaining interesting information about the items.

Photos not allowed inside as far as we were informed. Not much educational info provided. Jewellery store first floor, huge. No AC in the store.
