Very hysterical building. Worth visiting
Loved it. The mosque has a beautiful fountain inside and a inside garden.
Beautiful Mosque. A must see if in Sarajevo mash Allah
It was my first experience to offer my Maghreb’s prayer here. I loved this location, and the environment cozy .
They have place for Wudu ( Prayer washing), men and women
A must visit, a must sit and a must pray (if you are a muslim)
Beautiful historic mosque from the Ottaman era. Very well preserved with a lovely courtyard.
Its worth a visit, but first dress properly - you have to cover your shoulders and knees to enter the mosque, just like other sacred buildings and churches everywhere. it has a beautiful courtyard with a fountain and a shade tree, and there is also a small bookstore next to it. Opposite is a cultural center with a school and a museum, once a madrasah. It is part of Baščaršija, where it is essential to sit down for a Bosnian coffee, eat čevapčiče or burek (pie, cheese cakeand treat yourself to baklava, the base of which is thinly stretched dough, butter, honey and nuts, my favorites are pistachios, pine nuts and sesame. If you add sweetened orange juice to it, its absolutely perfect.Persimmons, roses, halva, rahatlokum are also known, but for me personally, baklava is the best.
In the heart of bascarsija. Every masjid holds its own light but this one carries a lot of history
Do I really need to say something about this place? By far the most unique place in the whole Sarajevo. All the ancient ottoman area is simply stunning. You can walk around this tiny streets and just when you expect to turn the corner into another tiny street the square with the mosque pops out. Beautiful
Nice small mosque, across the street there is also a nice small musuem.
A beautiful džamija in the heart of Sarajevo, where you can make your prayer or just relax from the bustle of the town in the beautiful courtyard.
Interesting and beautiful architecture.
Old school ottoman mosque. Peaceful and full of history.
Very nice spot. Spiritual and peaceful.
Beautiful historical mosque
Well worth a visit and the staff at the info desk/office are very knowledgeable and genuinely friendly and helpful. They also speak great English. Can’t describe the tranquility you feel the moment you are inside the yard of this mosque! A very special place!
Best place in town. I am a big fan of Salih Halilovic.
Most famous bosnian mosque built by Gazi Husrev Bey. Very nice, clean and comfortable place to perform salah, especially jummah.
Beautiful mosque. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to enter it, because the visiting hours stated by the door of the mosque and at the entrance differ. I was unlucky to look at the „wrong” tourist information.
One of the most beautiful Mosques in the old town with a great history
A big scenic mosque. Just walked around the courtyard a bit so cant comment on what the inside was like.
Came here because the famous movie "Valter". Walked in the courtyard but couldnt go inside. So just some photos in the courtyard.
Peaceful place to be and the recitation of Imam is Amazing

Must visit place in Sarajevo :)If you are a muslim you can pray in the peace :)
Built in the 16th century, it is the largest historical mosque in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the most representative Ottoman structures in the Balkans. Being the central Sarajevos mosque since the days of its construction, today it also serves as the main congregational mosque of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in the Baščaršija neighborhood in the Stari Grad municipality and, being one of the main architectural monuments in the town, is regularly visited by tourists.
Gazi Husrev-beg (Ottoman Turkish: غازى خسرو بك, Gāzī Ḫusrev Beğ; Modern Turkish: Gazi Hüsrev Bey; 1480–1541was a Bosniak Ottoman sanjak-bey (governorof the Sanjak of Bosnia in 1521–1525, 1526–1534, and 1536–1541. He was known for his major contribution to the improvement of the structural development of Sarajevo urban area and his construction of many important buildings there, such as the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque or the medresa Kuršumlija, as well as for his successful conquests and for the launching of further Ottoman expansion into Croatia.
Wonderful masjid. Well kept. Visit is a-must if you are in the city.
Its worth going inside this mosque to view the beautiful ceiling. The is a courtyard outside with traditional Muslim wash-house as well as mausoleum and lunar clock tower which establishes the correct time for prayer.
Peaceful mosque to pray.. toilets are available just nearby..
Beautiful interior of the mosque. Closes 10mins after the final prayer ends.I was here for Juma prayer and it was very hot, it would be great to get AC installed.
Really fascinating place.I personally dont believe in any sort of God, but I think that anyone must have respect both in the approach then in the "dress code" but it worth it.
Very impressive XVIc. mosque. One of the biggest in BalkAn region during Ottoman governance...
Beautiful and old masjid. Probably the Sarajevo top 1 landmark.
A mosque in the old town of sarajevo, built in the Ottoman Era, open to visit.if you are a muslim you can pray inside it... the architecture and islamic designs are amazing, the Imam voice is so calming.
Such a great experience. Got a tour from an imam and he even recited a prayer for us.
One of the oldest Masajid of Sarajevo. It has a beautiful library accompanying it.
Really old mosque. Very nice to go here. There is even a school in the opposite of the mosque.A big square in for the of the mosque.Separete woman and men entrance.Build by the ottoman empire.Classic build. When the imam prays, because of the structure you can hear his voice clear and there is a natural echo.
What a beautiful Mosque, you can see the influence of the Ottoman rule in this country when you visit the mosques, from architecture to the way people dress. The water fountain in the courtyard to perform ablution is also very pretty.
Very pleasant, historic mosque complex. The mosque itself can be visited. The interior is bright and airy and elaborately decorated. The complex also has a small cemetery, historic ablution fountain and 2 mausoleums. The first and still free public toilet is just outside the complex. As of this writing, the entry fee is 3KM or 5KM for a combo ticket (mosque + school or library)If this review was helpful, please click Like!
Beautiful mosque in the heart of the Sarajevo. Always open for praying which is really great and useful.
That is historical and beautiful mosques just love it
Very beautiful to pass by in the evening and witness the harmonious ambience of prayers, naturally integrated in the landscape of a busy street of shops, coffee houses etc.
Its the finest example of Ottoman Islamic architecture on the Balkan Peninsula. The original mosque was built in 1530 but was destroyed in 1697, and restored in 1762, and destroyed again in 1879. The last reconstruction was in 1886, but during the last war 1992-1995, it was damaged again, but most of its oriental design survived unscathed. It is the main mosque in the city
Gorgeous mosque, worth a visit regardless of your beliefs. Tourist friendly, but, come ON people, have some respect! Women, wear long pants/skirt and men no tank tops. Bring a scarf or shawl if you want to enter or borrow one from outside. I saw some pretty rude looking people wandering around inside.
Beautiful mosque with a good place to make wudu (clean oneself before prayeras well as toilets nearby
