Classic dishes and banquets served in an easygoing, long-running dining room with Chinese decor.
Wonderful food friendly staff would definitely recommend.
First time coming here. Enjoyed the food. The chicken curry was my favourite. Thank you for delicious food and a nice dinner out with my family. Will be returning!
Good food friendly service...
Wonderful dining experience. Food was exceptional with a delicious fresh flavour. Vegetable Spring Rolls were devine. Each staff member showed enthusiasm and a flair for making us feel welcome and comfortable. Will definitely be making a return visit if the opportunity arises.
Love the food! Staff friendly and helpful.Fresh and delicious food, as always!Easy to customise for fussy eaters.
Always a good time and great food.Staff very helpful and courteous.Been going there for many years and love it.
Friendly staff, generous meal portions, lots of meat and tasty food 👍👍
Always delicious. Well priced.
Third time trying Gawler palace but unfortunately the last two time the staff have gotten my order wrong and don’t find out till getting home, you shouldn’t have to check. My partner and I have decided to just go back to our usual Chinese place.
Always good food and friendly staff.
Best restaurant, best food, best service. If you are looking for a friendly place, with great quality food, you will always be satisfied. We have been coming here for years and will continue for many years to come. Thanks to Kim and all the staff.
Great food cooked fresh and friendly staff, highly recommend 👌
Service was great but unfortunately food was a let down :( curry was watery and flavourless, noodles were dry and flavourless, chips seemed as though they were reheated from the day before and the vegetables were almost completely raw (I like crunchy veggies but big slabs of raw celery and cabbage isnt very enjoyable to eat. Unfortunately none of it was enjoyable and we wont be returning.
Good food and good service. Excellent value.
Not a very good place dont expect to buy off menu as they dont have it.. munno para Chinese palace is way much better and you can get everything off the menu! Never coming back. Your a joke
Best Chinese restaurant around, the service is fantastic!Owner is lovely and takes so much pride in her establishment. Will definitely be returning
Food and service was good, Cantonese duck and honey chicken, entrees and fried rice. Prices reasonable.Staff prompt and friendly, If i have to say anything negative they may have been a little too attentive!Definitely worth supporting this long standing gawler establishment. Covid has caused them to stop banquets but hopefully they come back.
Always friendly! Food is always cooked perfectly. Wouldn’t go anywhere else
We had a pleasant family evening out. The duck with mushrooms was particularly good. The service was adequate and friendly. Recommended
This business has been going for years and I know why great food every time guaranteed I have been going there ocassionly for ten or more years of anyone were wanting to start a food business that is how you do it !!!
Have been a happy customer for many years. Typically take away order $70-$85.Rang 8 times over 20 minutes tonight and the phone was answered, but then they would hung up.If you dont want our business take the phone off the hook. Not happy Jan !!!/EditIt clearly says in your google detailsTakeawayMonday 4–8pmSo it seems you are open :)
Great tasting food, Good service, Kim the owner is a lovely lady and always talks to us at some point during our meal.
When I walked in, it was beautiful aroma of Jasmin rice, love it. Food was very tasty & quantity is great.Value for money. Definately will go back to eat some delicious food.
Fantastic place to eat and pleasant customer service. We go regulary and just love the meals
Our favourite Chinese takeaway spot in gawler. Just quality, old school, Chinese food. All the favourites appear, and the food tastes great, quick service and super friendly staff.
Great little restaurant. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Food was delicious really enjoyed the seshwan beef. Free prawn crackers always seal the deal. Thank you Gawler palace will be returning in the future. Great addition to a town with very little take away options. 😁👍
This restaurant has been such a great place to have so many occasions and celebrations. The staff are so friendly so accommodating and welcoming. The servings are generous and the food is always top class.
Ordered takeaway, not expensive and tasted great. They checked our order to make sure that everything was correct. The staff were friendly and even gave my daughter a lollipop while we waited all of 5 minutes for our order. Have been here several times now and will be back again.
Weve been ordering here for years and have never had a horrible meal, owner always looks after us and is a lovely lady, all the staff are always friendly too in turn makes for a great atmosphere to dine in. Would highly recommend 😊
Freshly cooked meals at good prices very tasty and colorful. Gluten free options highly recomend singapore noodles. The special fryed rice is spectacular, I ordered with no soy sauce, the best Ive tasted. Could easily eat on its own as a meal. All the other meals that were ordered at our table looked great. The Spring rolls my Aunty ordered were huge and cripsy with fresh ingredients. Everyone at our table was satisfied with their meals and impressed with seeing other meals looking deliciouse carryed out to other customers.Very good service, friendly staff. They do take away and if you cant eat all your meal you can get containers to take home and experience their lovely cooking. I will be back very soon.Best place I have been to for a long time. Xxx
Great food always. Friendly staff and service. No sicial distancing, less than 30cm from next person on over table on Mon. Seemed very crowded for a small area.
Really great Chinese food, top service, totally compliant to covid-19 laws.
Great food and service. Never had a bad meal here, always recommend!
The worst place to have Chinese food. We never had such bad experience with Chinese food. Firstly the soup was terrible. It was damn sweet and could not finish... and the chowmine was just some fried flat noodles and the taste was flat. I felt like having some boiled meat an veggie... the chopsuey and the chowine both taste the same, a simple boiled dish of meat and veggies... dnt waste your money on this... we have had far better meals than this with this amount we had spent...
Excellent food, fantastic & friendly staff.Highly recommend this place to everyone
Great tasting food with generous serves. Started with spring rolls. Nicely sized and packed full of filling, with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce. Next was the satay beef. Beef was tender and the sauce had much more flavour and smoother texture than standard satay sauce. Mains were crispy beef in Mongolian sauce, and honey chicken. The meat in both of these were tender and tasty. The sauces were not too sweet or salty and were plentiful. Mains were accompanied by fried rice, and vegetables. Both perfect accompaniment for the mains. Will be back!
We have had many a dinner here at Gawler Palace, and not once have we had a bad meal. Staff are always fantastic and nice, place has a awesome vibe to it and an awesome atmosphere.Food is always really good, super well priced and always serves enough to take home leftovers!Cant go wrong
This is by far the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. Ive been going for almost 3 years and have tried other places but nothing compares to the Gawler Palace Chinese food and the lovely staff. Always friendly and prompt service and the food is always fresh and hot. Keep up the fantastic work all of you! Im ordering take away tonight cant wait! :)
Good food! Great service!!
Clean. Waiters were polite and efficient. We had the banquet for 2 to 3 people and still came home with some leftovers. There were 3 of us plus a toddler. An enjoyable meal.
Never had a bad meal here. Atmosphere is also very nice
Our family have been eating here for over 30 years and highly recommend until now. The staff are lovely but the food is absolutely disgusting. What a shame. We will never return. After one night of terrible meals we thought we would return hoping the cook was just having a bad night, but second time was even worst. A great atmosphere, lovely staff but DISGUSTING FOOD!
Honestly the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. All the dishes are the same, with a different frozen meat and vegetable combination before being popped in the microwave. Staff are friendly, but I don’t know who’s cooking this stuff.
Good old fashion Chinese. Have dine in and take away options. Staff are friendly. Dishes are decent but not amazing. Vegan options available.
I was recommended to this place and was very much looking forward to going. Its a lovely restaurant and the staff are fantastic and very friendly, and the meals were very reasonably pricedBut the food wasnt the best Ive eaten. Its was a very popular place for take away as there were plenty of people walking in and out, So Im hoping it was just a once off..I may go again but probably wont go out of my way.
The service was excellent. The food was absolutely delicious. No complaints what so ever. Recommend it to all.😁😁😁
We enjoyed the freshness of the food & friendly service. I recommend the crispy steak - delicious.Unfortunately it was unpleasantly hot in the restaurant & service was a bit muddled but it was very busy so it was understandable.Drinks were average prices & wine list is small but sufficient.Altogether a nice place for big groups who like banquets or for smaller tables needing a quick dinner.
Service was friendly. The food was disappointing.Entree of Satay Beef was tough (I had to ask for a knife to cut it into edible pieces).Main of Lemon King Prawns (batteredwas a good sized serving but tasted of artificial lemon flavouring.Special fried rice was quite good.I note that both dishes were cooked separately from the sauce, with that being poured over after.Entree of Spring Rolls was a little overcooked.Main of Sweet & Sour Pork was good, quite tasty. The clearing of empty plates was slow, leaving me feeling a little uncomfortable. The pricing is quite reasonable, however the quality is lacking.Wheelchair ♿ access only from Murray Street entrance. No designated Wheelchair ♿ parking.
We came here based on a recommendation from Spirit Magazine, the magazine distributed on QantasLink flights. It’s so nice to see a traditional Chinese restaurant that hasn’t conformed to the pressures of modernity, and has instead opted to keep with tradition. Even more amazing was the food, which was absolutely terrific! I’ll definitely be back for more!
The foods nice. However the waitors always approach you asking if you are ready to order when youve just sat down and havent had a chance to look at the menu. When asked if they can come back in 5 minutes allowing time to decide they dont inform their colleagues that a specific table is wanting to take time to read through the menu this causing each waiter to approach making it feel as though Im dining in at a fast food joint and not a restaurant. Has happened more then once when dining there and have heard the same feedback from friends whove dined in.
