Gateway Motel Carnarvon in Carnarvon

Dont get me started!!!......out front ...in HUGE lit up signage....CHINESE BUFFET.....what a joke !!.....the folks who run this place need to get out and GO to a REAL Chinese BUFFET!!!.....I feel incredibly let down on my birthday to have food straight from ...pre cooked..bulk purchased stuff ...that they try to pass off as Chinese food......

For a Motel not bad at all. Room was clean and great packed lunch. I didnt eat here so no idea about their restaurant.

We had 3 stops to make it to Coral Bay. This hotel was the least in price but surprisingly the cleanest with the most friendliest staff who went above and beyond for us. Rooms had everything you needed for a comfortable stay.Food was also great.Would choose here again on our way through any day.

Lamp had wiring exposed on bed , other lamp no globe , curtains mismatched and tucked over curtain rod and not attached , food crumbs between mattress and base , was told by other traveller to make sure nothing in car as had things stolen before . Saw management next morning but couldn’t care less said will speak to the cleaners and your room must have had a fight in it . Asked for a discount but no , next time you stay here mention it ! For $140. Your dreaming mate !

We broke down in Carnarvon and needed to find accommodation last minute. The team were very helpful and provided great services. The rooms are basic but had exactly what we needed for a single night. They even had a buffet dinner on site that meant we didnt need to walk anywherefor meals. Thanks very much for all your help.

Friendly, helpful staff. Room clean. Food adequate. Lovely to have live piano music throughout dinner.

Sheets are dirty, mattress and protector are filthy. Bed is broken and wheels are left lying under bed. Rubbish left under beds. Carpet is filthy. Nothing has been wiped down. Shower has hair on the floor. Towels look unclean. Pool is closed because it is not up to standard!

Thanks to the staff that looked after all 15 of us FIFO workers at very short notice. So friendly and accommodating! They even packed us all a delicious lunch bag for the road after a nice breakfast. Would recommend 👌

Expect to treat your palate to NOTHING! I don’t know how you can take the seafood out of seafood. No way of making past the front line to check it out until you’ve paid the bucks. I have never had a blue swimmer that had zero seafood flavour. Couldn’t get through a half & I had 2 on my plate. Prawns were the same disappointment that they’ve been throughput WA. Poorly thawed frozen chewy lumps . The oysters were actually lovely in flavour but prepare yourself for the size. Huge. They were the pick of the seafood. The rest of the buffet was ordinary. Our favourite thing of the night was a green jelly topped desert and a bake at home roll. Trust me, I’m being generous in my review. I think a can of braised steak and onions would have disappointed less.

It’s adequate, some rooms are much better than others!

Dirty windows, dirty sheets ,dirty towels dried blood on the table,chair carpet and even a foot print on the wall ,the curtains where thrown over the top rail no hook in sight needed a chair to keep them closed absolutely disgusting never again

Checked into number 3. Left the key card in the room as soon we walked in. The smell of room when you walk in was disgraceful, do you even use cleaning products? Judging by the state of the reception you do not.The bathroom was absolutely filthy and the towel on the bed had stains on it (not that I would’ve even stayed to take a shower there). How disgusting…

At first the place seemed a little funky but by the late arvo we had some nice interactions with the staff. The rooms are clean and the sheets are very soft.If youre looking for a nice motel, this is cosy.

Staff were very friendly. Was slightly disappointed with the buffet as we arrived at 730 and there was minimal food to choose from especially for the price. So if going for dinner go early or its not worth it

We went for a meal tonight, we had roast, with 3 varieties of meat and all the trimmings. There was also prawns and a variety of salads. Oh and also desserts, well I over ate but I didnt worry about that as the food was so delicious. Thank you Gateway Motel for your awesome food. 👍👍👍👏👏👏😋😋😋.

Had a meal only, buffet seafood at $40, great value, good selection of freshly cooked food. the staff were great and helpful.

Self contained and not but has nice food available from restaurant its quiet and relaxing

Our car broke down near Carnarvon and we needed a place to stay overnight. We were recommended the Gateway Motel in Carnarvon and we were very lucky to get the accommodation on such short notice. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and allowed us to do a late check out (at no extra cost). The place was tidy, the king bed and pillows were very comfortable and the towels were new and soft. The motel owners even drove us to the airport as our car was getting repaired. Thanks Cindy and Kevin, much appreciated!

Went there for the buffet meal and was completely satisfied. The food was fresh and tasty. You can start with entrees, have as much as you want and finish with a great desert.

Booked dinner at 7pm for the seafood buffet.. only to find curried eggs, pineapple fritters and prawns left.. best thing about the seafood night was the carrot cake👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

Dont recommend.Roof of the hotel rooms is asbestos, and made worse due to the ceiling in our living area being cracked open by 2cm from end to end of room. Most of the ceilings were sagging and need repairing.Carpets stained. Shower and curtain very tired. Table not at all clean.Sheets hadnt been changed so had to ask reception to remake all the beds.All decor in room and reception looked like someone was giving it away and the hotel said Ill take it.

Booked accommodation for 1 night online, declared that there would be 2 adults and 3 children and was quoted a price of $166 for a 2 bedroom self contained apartment, so we accepted and confirmed the booking. A few days later I get a call from the Carnarvon Visitor Centre telling me that the Gateway Motel were putting the price up to $215 because of the 3rd child. Even though in the online booking I had clearly stated there were 3 children, I even received an email with booking itinerary which states 2 adults and 3 children. They stated they were not willing to honour the original quote and if I was not willing to accept them charging the extra $49 then they would cancel the booking.Extremely poor customer service.

We were lucky to get in to accoms at this time of year at short notice so very grateful. Cleaning not great. Hair throughout the bathroom, exhaust fan not working so bathroom constantly wet, bedroom ceiling fan coated in thick dust. Not great value for a couple hundred bucks per night. Just needs a little maintenance. Requirement to clean your dishes before leaving or incurr extra charges. Bring the sanitizer...

Worse service n disgusting room we were put in...number 32 ..bed bugz n curtainz so old...i tryd getting upgraded room but they wouldnt now they refusing 2 pay all our bond ... we had 4 roomz ... not 2 mention midgies n mosquitos from room 28....never again will i stay there...

Place need upgrading asap..I stayed few days few weeks back I got biten by mosquitos so badly I left an booked a air bnb flys everywhere place is dirty never staying again..they even said I damaged a spoon to use as a hanger as if...staff manager nicky is racist needs to be sacked. Place is so badd dont stay there.

We didnt stay here but found the seafood buffet amazing. Very reasonably priced and top selection. The desserts topped it off nicely. Totally recommend

The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. The office staff extremely friendly and helpful. We had the all you can eat seafood buffet on Saturday night, yum, and we were looked after by Brian who was an amazing and efficient worker who made ouexperience dining there a pleasure . Actually all the staff seemed happy to be there, would definately recommend this hotel and restaurant.

Im a contractor form Geraldton and was very disappointed , food great 10/10 but my clothes got stolen from my room, they said send us a bill, cut lunch is soggy sandwich un-ripe fruit, the bottled water was the best part. stay else ware if you want to take care of your team! rooms are tided every day but paint peeling on walls bathroom fan is stuffed . and they dont change the linen very much as i could smell body odour on pillow case and looked stained,

If i could do half stars i would vote 2.5 but i cant so ill give it the bemefit of the doubt and give it three. The aircon is only in two rooms that are basically mext to each other. The shower lets you water the wall behind it as well. There were some friends to say hello in the bathroom. Frogs but thats expected considering my mum used to get them in gove.

Super friendly staff all round, great seafood buffet and just great, going out of their way service! We paid for a couple of rooms but didn’t make it until 8am so they let us stay the next night, which is great and they didn’t have to do that, thank you Cindy. The food is awesome and the chef, all restaurant staff, reception, to the cleaners are super friendly as well. Can highly recommend, we will come back for our next stop over trip here. Just the extra kind of service you’re looking for after long days of travelling with kids.

Its alright if you wanted the buffet but my husband and I wanted something else. Husband ordered chicken parmigiana which came out over cooked. I ordered the caesar salad it was rubbish to much salty bacon that looked like it was pre cut up from the shops and to many croutons. It also took fourty five mins for them to bring it out. It was a waste of money. Got told that there was only one chief. Looked like that the chief was only interested in doing the food for the Fish buffet.

Great service from the moment we arrived late in the evening. First class buffet breakfast , clean spacious tidy rooms offering coffee tea milk water and a toaster . Lovely gardens with a pool . Will definitely recommend Cindy and her team to anyone who is heading to Carnavon and next time were this way will definitely be staying here. First class hospitality all round. Excellent service and a great variety of breakfast( continental and English breakfast. Amazing stay and clean large room (Queen size bed and an extra single bedwith TV, fridge and free room buffet coffee for the morning.We came in the night as our car broke and Cindy the owner beautifully booked us in and offering foods and refreshments as manager courtesy. Set price buffet although plentiful was very much like a mess offering. Actually mining camp messes are much better and very much cheaper. A lot of very ordinary food is disappointing. One would think an Aussie night would have some nice grilled steak and sausages, alas no. Room for big improvement in the offerings.

I agree, the office ladies including the older one are the sweetest people. I payed 180 but it was worth it. We had a great sleep, it was clean (it is an older establishment with water stains but clean and old doesnt worry meThe restaurant was relaxed with a lovely atmosphere and the food was great.It is not close to the beach, but has a pool and we were passing through anyway.

Rang up to find out about seafood buffet and man that answered the phone today needs to learn about communication and customer service. I stated that I had dietary requirements and his answers where there is plenty to choose from, again I asked what food was gluten free and said that $40 was a lot of money to pay if I can only eat a few things, he then very rudely to me not to pay or eat any at all and hung up. Well you lost a booking for 8 people due to your rudeness. You work in hospitality and if you cant provide good service on the phone then heaven help your business.

Cindy and the team are amazing. Very friendly and welcoming, Cindy was kind enough to let my son have his birthday party there and the use of their pool. I would most definitely recommend this lovely establishment for your stay or even just a meal. Thanks heaps Cindy you are amazing🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I stayed there for two nights with my son and my granddaughters I had moved from Carnarvon after 48 yrs as a local went back to visit my father and mothers grave.Unfortunately I don’t think the family rooms were worth the $352 for the two night.The shower/bath recess had rubbish in it when I went to give my granddaughter a bath the single beds are very small ideal for kids but not an adultWouldn’t stay again for that price

We like dining at the restaurant here when we are too tired or lazy to cook. The buffet theme is different for each day of the week and there is also an a la carte menu too. This is a proper restaurant, not a fast food place, with nice ambience/decor and often live music. We dont go for all you can eat but the buffet allows a good choice of very nice dishes.

Amazing owners and staff who went out of their way to accommodate us. There was a real home-like feel here. Our room was tidy and functional. Breakfast was amazing. Add this place to your list when visiting Carnarvon. 👍👍

This may not be the 5-star motel with all things modern chick or shiny. But this place definitely has 5-star GREAT HOSPITALITY - from those working in the office, restaurant, even the Cleaner Man who worked on EASTER MONDAY still all smile checking if we needed anything. Its heart-warming. Our late-check-in: fast with no fuss :my husband said the old lady in the office (receptionwas the sweetest person. After a very long drive (Perth, Geraldton, Kalbarri, Carnorvan), we received a very warm welcome from her. She even asked if our family (esp. Kidsre hungry that they could prepare something for us. Its a very kind & nice gesture. The unit we stayed had everything we needed. Its a bit cramped but were pleasantly surprised that its equipped with hotplates, frying pan, pots, kettle, basic kitchen utensils, good size fridge, microwave, toaster and complimentary teas/coffee. The rooms clean, neat and & tidy. The decors nicely done too. Our beds are comfy. Bedsheets and blankets clean and fresh. Everything worked fine. Airconditioner worked great too. The bathroom however need a good scrub or at least spray the yellowish wall with good bleach to make it at least fresh clean white. Coin Washing machine & dryersre available too. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Amazing !! Both friendly and helpful staff, rooms are comfortable and spotless, food is to die for!! This is the second time Ive stayed here and not the last, after a long drive who could ask for more!!

Nice Motel.Always have something fun going on for dinner.Rooms are nice and clean.Breakfast from 6am so you can hit the road early.The shower is a bit annoying, but I get that pretty often being tall.Beds are comfy, staff are nice and welcoming.I had to wait to get my room key for minute as my booking was mixed up, which was my fault as it was a last minute booking. The staff member behind the counter fixed up my booking, gave me the room I wanted at the agreed price, and managed to serve some other people all while not neglecting me, which is a hard skill to master.

This is s very nice motel rooms are basic but also very clean they have everything in the room you need the receptionist was very nice and aslo very help full....cannot wait to try there seafood buffet tonight.

We paid $140 for one night (breakfast was also not included). Towel should had been trown away probably a few year ago. Worn out, threaded. Not suitable for human use. I think it was way too expensive for the quality and service.

Have stayed twice now and it did not improve the second time. Towels completely worn out and should be thrown out. Threadbare and raggedy. Linen on beds very old and covers also worn out. Room furnishings very tired and look like they have had a hard life. Plumbing and tap issues with taps and toilets flushing correctly. Booked a family room for 5 that only had three chairs at the table. Requested more from reception and was told "Ill see what I can do". The extra chairs did not arrive. Our stay was survivable but not pleasant.

Room was very clean and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced as well really happy with the service we received. Have stayed in this hotel several times over the years and this time its in the best condition Ive seen it.
