Garnet Hill Lodge provided us with a wedding experience that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Leading up to our weekend, the venue coordinator, Jessica, was extremely responsive and helpful with answering our numerous questions, clarifying details, and guiding us along our planning process to ensure the details we had envisioned would all come together. This extended to the wedding weekend itself, when the team at GHL provided us with an outstanding experience, including (but not limited to!the venue coordinator, Jessica, the dining room captain, Lucy, the head bartender, Erin, and the caretaker/hike leader/outdoor bartender, Patrick. All of the staff at GHL were extremely positive to work with, making a weekend full of logistical hurdles feel like a team effort to throw a perfect party. Additionally, the lodge and grounds provided an unbeatable setting. The lawn, with expansive mountain and lake views, was the perfect setting for our ceremony, cocktail hour, bonfire, and mingling space for our guests to meet and enjoy each other’s company. The newly-constructed, screened in pavilion provided an incredible space to dance the night away under fairy lights hung from the wood beams. The main dining room of the lodge provided the perfect rustic and warm setting for our wedding dinner and casual hangouts with our guests. Guests enjoyed the clean and comfortable accommodations in the lodge and other on-site buildings. Last but not least, the grounds provided an unparalleled outdoor experience, with many of our guests taking advantage of the hiking trails and beach on Thirteenth Lake. The grounds also provided a variety of breathtaking backdrops for wedding photos that we will cherish forever. The rustic charm of the setting was complimented by delicious food, often incorporating an Adirondack flair into familiar favorites. Many guests commented on the quality of the meals, from morning breakfast, to the wedding night hors doeuvres and dinner, to late night pizza. The flexibility of the venue was also a huge benefit, with our questions regarding meal options, locations, and timings being met with enthusiastic solutions. We would definitely choose Garnet Hill Lodge over and over again for the wonderful experience that we had here. If you are looking for a venue that provides a warm, welcoming, and charming space to gather your loved ones for an unbeatable celebration, this is the place for you.

(Original review with images on booking.com)Liked · The view was very nice in the mornings from the dining area. We went when it was a bit chilly and the fog settled on the hilltops and that looked beautiful. The general aesthetic of the place was very cabin-like, which was charming. Their breakfast was delicious and their dinner was very tasty. The bed was soo comfortable! Paula, the lady at reception was sweet, and the young woman at the outdoor center was very helpful in printing us out hiking trails upon request. We enjoyed the kayaking a lot, very tranquil.Disliked · We got a room with very high windows. Being 50", I wasnt able to ANYTHING. With so much space, to offer a room with no view?! At least when we stayed in Taiwan, the description would say so. The pictures for this room showed windows and we didnt get any so I felt cheated. Also, we should have done our research but our room also didnt have a TV, which I get because of nature retreat, so in the future, just request a room with one. We were suggested one trail by the charming lady at the outdoor center, except it was double the projected length and we were beat and tired and all we wanted to was watch TV and could only from our tablets. The bed was comfortable if you look past the stained throw pillows. I know we didnt have to use them, but it was concerning that they wouldnt just change them. The sofas in the lobby look like they could be in those satisfying videos of the magic of powerwash. UP TO INTERPRETATION: My BF and I are clearly Hispanic, and everyone else... well isnt. Every time we would go have breakfast, dinner, or go to the private beach, which is an amenity to this stay, we were constantly being asked for our room number. MORE THAN ONCE! (Like they didnt believe it or somethingA caucasian couple came in after us at breakfast and they didnt ask them for the room number AT ALL, so Ill just leave it at that. It could have been that they had a longer stay than ours and remembered them. At our second breakfast stay, we decided to stay in a bit later than yesterday to see if they could deduct from the people already at breakfast which room we were in. A blond woman gave us a double look, asked us for the room number, again, after her colleague has already gotten ours. At the beach, the girl had asked us once, and then again 2 min after to confirm the room number, I was already fed up so we left.

My daughter’s wedding was here, and we had the entire lodge for the weekend. Every amenity was thought out perfectly, the staff were helpful and friendly, and especially the night of the wedding , they put up with a lot -with smiles and a sense of humor. This is one of those hidden gems that encourage smiles and warm memories. You wouldnt know that its there if youre just driving through the area, but in terms of places to stay and potential venue opportunities, it really is one of the Adirondacks own special locations. Ive photographed multiple locations here and am always amazed by the setting, scenery, and service. The staff here cares about every aspect of your stay or your event (or both). Its got views, amenities, and ambiance. The wedding photography Ive produced here is amongst some of my favorites, and as a longtime Adirondack fanatic, I love coming here.

We were looking for a quiet, peaceful place surrounded by nature, and GHL was perfect. A short walk to a beautiful lake for swimming and canoeing, gorgeous mountain view from the room balcony, maps available for good nearby hikes. Complimentary breakfast was fine, and the restaurant was very good. I’ll be coming back for skiing in the winter.(Edited in laterAlso, I left some stuff in the room and didn’t notice it missing, and they were proactive about emailing me about it, and super helpful about mailing it back to me. Terrific people.

While our visit was pleasant overall, I feel as though the details were a bit embellished. Dont get me wrong, it was all accurate, but not all the info was listed. For example, although we had rights to swim, kayak, canoe or sit on the beach of Thirteenth Lake, it was a 15 minutes hike, all downhill, through a wooded area on the way there, & consequently all uphill on the way back. I mistakenly thought it was closer. Dont get me wrong, I walk about 3.5-4 miles several times a week, so Im not afraid of exercise. But not in a wet bathing suit, logging my towel, book, water bottle, sunscreen, etc. Plus being uphill meant at least a 30 minute hike.Breakfast buffet was good. Patio tables were the perfect place to eat & view the beautiful scenery. We ate dinner at the Lodge one night but it was OK. Only alcoholic beverage choice was non-flavored Seltzer. Meal was good, & service was excellent. But we decided to try other places. Our room was exactly as described & very clean. Only problem was the two interior doors that didnt close all the way. We let them know on the way out & they apologized. Said theyve been totally booked & cant get a handyman in to fix in between. I get it. Bikes we rented were good, but the one kayak was missing the cushion. Just a little uncomfortable as we paddled around the lake.Location was good to visit Gore Mtn & ride chairlift. Local tour guide Rich met us at the Saddle Lodge & we walked to the top, picking up garnet pieces & learned about the geology & history of the area. Rich was a gem & very knowledgeable! We had fun & enjoyed getting away to the Adirondacks💕

We did the mountain bike rental and trails today. Fantastic new bikes and extremely helpful people directing us to different trails that we easy enough for beginners but certainly challenging and fun. The guide who works there was especially nice and helpful. Trails are well marked and go from easy to very hard, to suit all levels. Recommended

Lovely experience here, with kind staff and good food. There were groomed trails for cross country skiing and snow shoeing. We booked late and could only book their smallest room, which is still as big as a standard hotel single and was comfortable. We were able to snow shoe down to the frozen lake. We were the only ones there, it felt like we were alone on foreign planet. Gore Mountain was an easy drive away, which had bunny hills, but was more suited to intermediate and above downhill skiers. The nearby town had some fun restaurants, a full grocery store, a liquor store, and a small Walgreens.

This is such a welcoming place: great ski center and a really relaxing and spacious lodge. Such beautiful trails for skiing. And so thought through (now with covid they have fire pits going to keep guests warm). And the lodge is just so spacious. We had dinner there with a large group that tried to still socially distance and they were able to serve us in the family room where we had room and privacy at once. Lucy, the waiter, was just impeccable. She remembered all of our orders and created such a special evening for us despite the pandemic going on. I look forward to staying there next time.

The owners, managers, chef, and staff made our wedding exactly what we envisioned. Typically couples talk about "that thing that went wrong" but we can honestly say nothing went wrong. We worked with the folks at Garnet Hill Lodge for a year on our wedding, trying to keep is as simple, yet elegant, as possible with as much Adirondack spirit as we could. The owners and staff have poured a ton of resources into the Lodge in the last year to bring it up to date and provide a greater experience. Our wedding was quite large and we were concerned we were stressing the staff, but just the opposite - they embraced us like family and ensured everything went smoothly. We had guests from overseas and around the country, all in awe of how beautiful the lodge and setting were, and how accommodating and friendly the staff was.If youre looking for a true Adirondack setting this is it. Its not over designed with twiggy sculptures, animal trophies, and pine cone knick-knacks. Its the real deal. And so are the people. The location is remote, by many standards, but for us, that added to the character of the wedding we wanted. We also cross country ski at Garnet Hill Lodge in the winter as well and enjoy every opportunity to stop in for a lunch or dinner. We highly, highly recommend an over-night or two to relax and enjoy all that Garnet Hill Lodge has to offer.

Stayed here yesterday and was enamored by the beautiful, verdant premises. I took my dad here for his 73rd birthday and intended to stay in two separate rooms for two nights. However, my dad was being difficult and wanted to switch to one room as we were unaware the buildings wouldnt be adjacent to each other and he didnt want me walking around at night lest an animal maul me to death. Anyway, the staff was very understanding and accommodating. Dinner was delicious as well. This is the place to go if youre into hiking, biking, or water activities, and I would love to return with a more active Other.

Loved the location and free breakfast (which was delicious). This was a family trip for downhill skiing. I couldnt ski on this trip so I checked out the snow shoeing and cross country skiing. Trails were perfect. We stayed in a pet friendly room. My brothers family also stayed in a pet friendly room in the tea house. We each paid a $75 pet fee which covered extra cleaning. Rugs had not been vacuumed, bed spread was dirty, we found remnants of what looking like animal droppings in the bed, there was a pacifier under one of the beds. When we told them what we found, they thanked us for letting them know. You would think they would have waived the cleaning fee since it wasnt put to good use before our visit. I purchased a trail lunch for 4 and 2 of the sandwhiches were wrong. At $8 each, you would think more care would have been taken. We were too far away to return them. We purchased a container of hot chocolate from the gift shop only to find out it was expired (not that hot chocolate goes bad but still!). Food at the restaurant was delicious but they didnt have enough servers for the crowd of people in attendance. There also wasnt a bartender at the pub when we were there. Nothing was offered to us for the inconvenience.

I only visited the XC ski area and its shop and cafe, not the rented rooms. This is a top rate groomed XC ski center with many miles of trails all beautifully groomed and well marked. A skier can spend days here exploring all the terrain, which includes access to a secluded lake and a separate hill served by a shuttle bus. This area gets great snow and is just slightly north of the alpine ski resort at Gore Mountain. Garnet Hill and Gore Mountain Snow Bowl are in fact connected by backcountry trails for the most adventurous skiers.

My boyfriend and I went to Garnet Hill Lodge because it seems to be the only place in the area with bike rentals. The staff were friendly and helpful. We got there towards midday and there wasnt a huge selection of bikes left, but they were sufficient and pretty cheap to rent. The trails were fun, but a bit of a workout and somewhat buggy. So not as impressive for the price we paid in summer. In canadian rates this hurts even more. Food and breakfast included was very good but the lake is a 5min drive away or a real 30min walk hike. Missrepresented that the lake was part of the room experience so we were disappointed from the start. I would consider elsewhere unless you want a cottage b and b experience.

Beautiful rustic lodge nestled in the Adirondack Mountains. There is plenty to do here year round as there are many great attractions such as skiing and boating right down the road. The lodge itself provides a great view of thirteenth lake with the mountains behind it. There are really cool hiking and mountain biking trails too. The food is also superb. The rooms are clean and spacious and there is a game room. Garnet Hill is just a great getaway from the hectic pace of everyday life. It is probably one of the most peaceful lodges in the region.

My family and I used to go here when I was young and I have very fond memories. I just returned for the first time in at least 15 years and it is just as great as I remember. Though it is cross country skiing, the difficulty of the trails varies greatly, and the advanced trails feel very much like downhill for a fraction of the price (which is excellent for seasoned skiers). They offer bus rides so that you can take a mostly downhill run and then get picked up at the bottom of the hill and brought back up to the lodge. These runs take between 40-60 minutes. It also has very gentle trails which are good for beginners and children. I would highly recommend a visit for a couples getaway or for family fun. You can also snow shoe on the trails (which we did as wellif some in your group would prefer that to skiing. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. When we went, there was freezing rain one night and the driveway of the house that we rented was impossible to traverse the next morning (it was 150 yards long, steep, and winding). When we foolishly attempted to drive down it, we got stuck in a snow bank. The staff at the ski lodge offered to come get us unstuck and even sand down the driveway so we had no more problems going up and down it. They were lovely and did a great job pulling us out with a winch. Shout out to Adam in the ski lodge for offering help and setting us up with the maintenance folks.

Our family wedding at Garnet Hill Lodge could not have been any better. Family and friends stayed in all available rooms including the Loghouse, the Birches and Teahouse for the extended weekend. There was a rehearsal night bonfire and party for all followed by the wedding ceremony and reception. Were grateful to the staff, all of whom were accommodating every step of the way. The food and all services were exceptional and they transitioned seamlessly from one event to the next. We were fortunate to enjoy unseasonably warm and dry conditions which made for excellent hiking; foliage was at peak. Garnet Hill has gorgeous views and surroundings, there is so much to enjoy and its all worth the trip. Thanks to all staff for making it wonderful from beginning to end.

The location and view at Garnet Hill Lodge were spectacular.I was so excited to be staying at a mountain lidge, and unfortunately I was extremely disappointed, as were my husband and two children. Our room was not clean. Dead and live bugs were all over the carpet. There were live bugs in the shower. There was also hair on the shower wall that did not belong to any of us. Long hair was wrapped around the complimentary shampoo. The toilet did not flush easily, and with four people in the room it was used often. We were the only people on our section of the property, and it looked like no one had been in it for months. We were required to make reservations for dinner in the lodge restaurant, which was a bit silly as there were only 3 or 4 other tables being used by guests. You would think that would mean quick service, but alas it did not. Service was beyond slow, and the food was mediocre at best. Way overpriced. Breakfast was worse. Complimentary breakfast only from 8:00 - 10:00. We waited. 1 1/2 hours for our food after it was ordered, and were told it took longer to serve us because a larger group had a raft reserved for the morning and couldnt be late, so apparantly our time was not important. When the food finally arrived, it was awful. My sons pancakes were inedible. You couldnt even cut them with the knife. My husband french toast was possibly made from bricks instead of bread. My biscuits and gravy tasted like sawdust and salt.I would not stay at this lodge again. Spending $270 for a roon FOR ONE NIGHT should have guaranteed my family a great mountain lodge experience, and we got a dirty, bug ridden room, awful service, and terrible food. Definitely would not recommend staying at this lodge. Not worth the ridiculous price.

We stayed at Garnet Hill Lodge 2/17 and 2/18 2017. We arrived and were told we would be staying at an alternate building, about 200 feet down the road from the lodge. The cost would be the same, about 420.00 per night since we had 3 children. There would be no view, no fireplace, no phone and no walking to dinner in slippers...The alternate lodge, called Birch, was clean but was no different than any motel you would find anywhere for $100.00 night, including right down the road from Gore Mountain. We were pretty upset, given the price. The saving grace of the situation was Dwayne Spitzer, the general manager, who was very nice and understanding. He reduced the price to 250/night, which honestly is still twice what they should charge for this kind of room. No amenities, no phone, no tell-motel bathroom. I will say, as a positive, that while the food was pricey, it was very good, not disappointing at all. The second night they tried to seat us in a table by the doorway, which was weird considering there were very few people in the restaurant, but again Dwayne intervened. This is the kind of manager every hotel should have. He turned a bad situation into a tolerable one.
