Garlyn Zoo Wildlife Park - Zoo in Ferguson, United States
This place is awesome! If you havenβt been here, you are missing out! I spent hours here and you can tell every moment that the animals are taken care of and loved and that everyone involved is there for the animals! We will be back!!
Surprisingly large collection native and exotic animals. All animals appear to be very well nourished and taken care of.
The workers are very nice and the animals are always a joy to experience. Took my 9 month old baby and she loved the otters and chickens (she loves chickens). The animals are well cared for and feeding the goats/chickens/ostriches/emus/deer is fun and exciting for the kiddos. Location is nice as well!
We stopped and spent an hour and a half almost two hours but could have spent a lot longer lots of fun animals and nice enclosure, not over busy, went as a group and saved money on the group rate, would definitely stop again.
Great small zoo up close to animals on the way out hilarious parrot sings La Cucaracha reasonable price
Very nice little zoo with a nice variety of animals.
A great zoo well worth it and not too expensive. Get to food animals as well although it cost extra its worth it.
It was a great zoo! Loved the trio of 2 black bears and a dog who are best friends and a great story behind it!
This was a great zoo they had animals i have never seen before hyenas, singing dogs, alligators , wolfs and more. My kids loved feeding the deer and bears. Just about 30 minutes past the mackinaw bridge. Also great the let their birds run free chickens and peacocks.
One of Northern Michigans best kept secrets. This little gem is so worth the drive. Impressive animal selection and an ideal setting for young children.
Have been coming here since they opened many years ago. Very enjoyable and animals and grounds very well maintained. Each visit will bring something new. They have come very far from where they once started. Family package is very reasonable. Employees always pleasant. Highly recommend for a family as a "must" when visiting the UP.
Great zoo! It was cool to be in the U.P. and find this experience from one of the pamphlets at our hotel. You can feed some animals and you get pretty close. There are a lot of different types of birds, I noticed. My favorites were the lions and tigers. The bears have a friend (a dog!who was out, but unfortunately we didnt see the actual bears when we visited. It is definitely worth a trip if you are in the area, just be aware there is a zero food or drink policy--not even water, so make sure the kiddos are hydrated and fed before entering.
This is our favorite place in the Upper Peninsula! We make sure to visit several times each summer! The staff is wonderful, kind and caring. They love the animals and do a fabulous job keeping the zoo neat, clean and an enjoyable place to visit. This is a definite must stop when you are in the UP!
Great little zoo that is very family friendly and allows close up viewing of animals. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable about the animals they take excellent care of. Been there a few times and my daughter has loved it every time. Cant wait to go back and feed the parakeets.
We always enjoy going here on our yearly trips. The animals are well taken care of and you can feed some of them too. The bears, birds, rabbits and goats are available for feeding. Our son loves the animals.
Fun place to walk around and enjoy animals. We loved feeding the bears and the birds. The Llamas were fun as well, but their emu pin mates are a bit intimidating. HahWe will visit again!
This was a very nice smaller sized zoo. Small in area but big umbrella adventures.!
Love this place! My son is visually impaired and they gave him special treat and let him feed a baby kangaroo: My kids could spend all day feeding the goats and alpaca. Watch out for the ostrich when feeding the sweet alpaca, they are savage.
We really enjoyed the easy to walk mulched trails with the free roaming Pea fowl and beautiful chickens. Even though some of the animals were resting in their enclosures, there were still plenty of beautiful and amazing creatures to see and hear. They seemed to be well taken care of and the staff members were more than happy to answer questions. Garlyn Zoo is well worth visiting!
Awesome zoo! Got there when they opened and the animals were moving around. Max the cougar was my favorite.
Great place for family and individuals to see and feed animals, convenient restrooms and hand washing area as well as a great service gift shop, animals looked healthy and taking care of and Iβm giving 4 stars because itβs a bit pricey for individuals or family considering the size of the zoo, other than that it was great pleasure to spend sometime there
Very fun easy zoo. Got to feed animals and see some stuff I havent seen. Very shaded, only issue is be aware that no outside water is aloud and the paths are all mulch so depending on your stroller or wheel chair it might be a struggle
Lovely zoo. Not too big so you dont get tired of walking around. They have friendly animals as well who you can pet and feed. The environment is also as close to their Natural habitat for the animals. Loved the free range birds roaming around the space.
Very nice interactive zoo. We can pet and feed the rabbit, deer, and parakeets. Small and needs to be upgraded to paved walkways since it is hard for stroller and wheel chairs. The lions, tigers and bears are all there. The place looks like it has room to grow and we look forward to seeing how it does in the future. Maybe a few more local animals, like bald eagle, moose. We did watch the zoo keeper petting the cougar and the smaller cat next to it. Which was a high light. The reptile house was poorly ventilated and eventhough it has warning signs would take your breath away due to the smell. Overall the zoo was very nice and liked the place and will come back in years to come.
Zoo was cool. They dont allow food or drinks including water. I have never been someplace that doesnt allow water and would not recommend for families or anyone who dehydrates easily. There were a few options for feeding various animals which was cool, but not worth the cost of not being able to take a water bottle.
I LOVE the variety of animals at this zoo! Not the typical ones that you would see! The animals look healthy and well taken care of. Their habitats are natural and are well maintained as well! We had a GREAT time!!
It was a fun with quite a few animals. We went on Fathers Day so all dads got in free which was a nice little surprise. We had a group still, so the rest of the group was $8.50/person. The animals were pretty active and viewable. It took us a couple hours to get thru, so a perfect little stop off when heading to our cabin for the week. Definitely a good place to visit when up in the U.P.
I loved that everything was in close proximity to each other so wasnt to much walking for my kids. Lots of cool different animals to see!
The Garlyn Zoo was definitely worth visiting! For being such a small zoo, they pack quite a bit in there while still giving the animals a decent amount of room. The bears were my favorite animals there. You can buy food to feed certain animals and it was fun feeding the bears apples. Make sure to support this zoo if youre in the area! Extremely family friendly.
Great family fun, wide variety of animals, clean, friendly and great staff! Love going here and will definitely do it again!
We brought our almost 2 year old and we absolutely loved it! Great place to visit!
Always a wonderful time. This zoo is a wonderful family destination. The variety of well maintained enclosures highlight animals and their unique attributes. Hand feeding of parakeets, (check if openis a pure delight as they light on you to enjoy a treat. Youβll not be disappointed in the variety of animals to see. A covered eating area is available. Clean restrooms, too. Sometime a good truck with barbecue is on site. A gift shop with items at any price range is there too. No outside food or water is allowed inside the zoo. Enjoy your visit. Our family got the very reasonably priced annual pass. Now we stop whenever we can!
Didnt expect that this wild life zoo was awesome... You get to experience wild life.. actual wild life.... Even though its small tour its worth it.... if you a have a big family theirs a great deal package.... Plus u will get to feed the animals also...
They also have a family ticket option. It was definitely worth it. Lots of fun.
An inexpensive zoo with amazing experiences. You can walk through the whole zoo at a leisurely pace in about 2 hours so it is a great stop if driving to a different destination. They have many animals you can feed. The animals all seem happy and well fed/taken care of. I will go back again and again every time I am up that way just to say hi to Vern (male lion)
A great zoo for the animal lovers and kids. You can feed the deers, alpaca, bears etc. What caught my attention most was the bond between the bears and the dog.
Its a nice zoo. Most of the animals are well cared for...but there are a few that are in enclosures way too small. The price is.. high compared to regular zoos. The staff seemed nice enough i never ran into any staffembers that were rude. Some of the guests though...thats another story, especially the ones that let their children run like maniacs, pushing and screaming as they run through people. Some of said people were elderly and had stability issues. If you are one of those parents than keep your brats on a leash as it seems you are an ineffective parent.
Mary and the young ladies caring for the animals were very friendly and personable. Our large family was well accommodated with a group rate. We loved watching the animals in a more natural habitat. The large animals are actually quite interactive with guests... the bear seemed to understand that we were in search of apples for her. Definitely worth the stop.
It was a good day today at the zoo. Although the humidity added to the stench it was a nice visit. My only negative comment is that you could definagely tell the tigers were and large predator animals were very very stressed. Very stressed and pacing, I cant think of any zoo Ive ever visited that puts the wolf enclosure so close to the big cats it definitely creates a conflict when it comes to larger predators and their territorial instincts I hope someone can donate to them to help them expand to rebuild some nicer enclosures and clear some the pine trees.... Most the animals seemed fairly old and somewhat miserable besides the bears who were no doubt loving the Apple buffet the tourists were providing.
What a awesome facility! I never thought Id be going to a zoo in the UP! They had a huge variety of animals from birds to big cats and everything in between. We seen some beautiful lions, tigers and bears... Oh my! Lol. There was a separate building on site for reptiles, small primates and big scary bugs! What a great place to stop and what a wonderful surprise to find in the UP! Thank you Garlyn Zoo for having us and well definitely be back in the future! Come on through and help support these guys in everything they do! These animals need as much support as we can give them as well as the business itself. πΊπ¦π΅π―π¦π»π¦¨π¦₯πΈ
What an awesome place to visit in the UP!! Great place to take the family and spend the afternoon!! My boyfriend and I visited while vacationing to Mackinaw and I must say what a great jem to find!! They have a variety of animals, including lions, tigers, bears (oh my!π wolves, hyenas, foxes, a wolverine, capybaras, porcupine, kangaroo, alligators and the list goes on! You can feed the goats, feed the deer vegetable sticks and you can also feed the bears apples!! There is also a separate cage where you can feed birds such as parakeets and finches!! There is a separate building on site that houses smaller primates, nocturnal animals, large snakes, bugs, frogs and turtles! Then youll end your animal adventure through the gift shop, so make sure to grab a souvenir and support the zoo! Thanks Garlyn for a wonderful afternoon and well see you all again soon!
We brought our son and his family this week and we absolutely loved it so up close and personal with all the animals it was awesome. We were there at the perfect time it was around feeding time 3pm so all the animals were active such a great place to take your family every worker we talked to was very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. We are already planing to go back next year.
What a beautiful little zoo. They have come a long way since my first time visitng there and everytime info back it gets bigger and better. I love to visit this zoo every time I get to the U.P.
I would say this is the David in David vs Goliath of Zoos. Its small but mighty and hands down one of the best zoos Ive been to.The enclosures felt more natural than most and the animals were closer and more interactive.Great variety and friendly knowledgeable staff. We live five hours away and well definitely be back.
My first time here with all of the kids and we had such a blast! I loved that it was relatively simple with location of the animals. They even give you a map which was helpful too! So many animals to see too which was just as awesome! We even got to Fred many animals. Ill definitely take them again in the future!
Amazing is all I can say. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a variety of animals and they have little plaques of info hanging around. If you have not gone, what are you waiting for?! Absolutely love this zoo. Cannot wait to go back next year.
Great place to take the kids and I enjoyed it myself. Those are some beautiful animals! Lots of different habitats with some being interactive. You can feed apples and grains to bears and deer/alpaca! So cool to show the kids and let them feel it.
We had 3 adults and 6 children, we all had a blast!! The bird enclosure and bunny π° enclosure were new this year and our kids spent a lot of time feeding the birds. Good well done from the staff who made this happen, thank you for a great experience.
I live in Saint Ignace and it was my First time there. We Took my grandson and he loved it so much he wants to go back π€π₯°. Not a huge Zoo, but just right. Very clean grounds, animals very healthy looking and the employees are very helpful and nice. We wish to thank you and we will see you again. Just a few of so many photos π₯°
Had a great time today. Never boring going to the zoo with my kids. We were super excited seeing the kangaroos this trip. A nice surprise was that all moms got in free because of mothers day. We visit this zoo a couple times a year and it never disappoints!
