Bibimbop, bulgogi & other traditional Korean entrees round out the menu at this informal restaurant.
I ordered a take out bulgogi. The meat was ok but the rice was so overcooked and mushy. I was very disappointed 😞
from someone whos from south korea- not bad and not good
Bulgogi bibimbap lunch special was delicious. I’d suggest getting 2x bulgogi!
i don’t remember going here but here’s a good rating
Not the most upscale Korean restaurant in Huntsville, BUT this family owned business is a gem! It has plenty of parking, a great menu, and authentic Korean cuisine. We ordered the Army Stew, corn pancake, spicy pork, and BiBimBap. The entrees come with rice and two sides and can be a bit spicy. All in all a great little spot for Korean food. If you are in Huntsville and want a good little place for Korean food, give them a shot!
Pork chop was very tasty although the meat can be more lean. Lunch box has a good portion for the price.
First time eating Korean food and we loved it. We tried four different appetizers and they were delicious. Our favorite was the dumplings and then the Kimchi pancake came in a close second. We will definitely come back!
Dont let the outside deter you, this is a little gem! The inside is well done lovely decorated, clean and friendly staff! I got spicy bimimbop! Ill definitely be back!
Bulgogi was delicious 😋
Very disappointed. Service was terrible. Took almost an hour to receive our food. Several tables that came in after us were served and finished eating before we received our food. Dumplings were burned and served anyway. I felt it was very pricey for the servings. Will not be back.
The Kalbi is really good here and its cooked fresh.
As of August 2022, Garam serves delicious Korean classics at a great price. They have had new management since May 2022 and are still under the radar. The menu is simple to order from and the food comes pretty quick. I look forward to more visits and eventually trying their tofu soups!
Good but a little pricy for the portion sizes
After living in Korea for a few years, my husband and I were really craving something good. This place was great, nice staff, absolutely delicious food. We both left very full and happy and plan to return very regularly.
The food is amazing and I would recommend to others. The only reason I give it 3 stars and not more, is because I invited a large group of friends to dine here, and we were asked to keep our voices down even thou we were not being extremely loud or disrupting the business. If I can’t have a fun conversation with friends at a restaurant, then they should state a policy saying they require for their customers to dine quietly. Also, one of the waitress is not very friendly.
I’m Korean-American, and I’ve had Korean food all my life in many parts of the U.S. and the world. This Deonjangjigae (Soybean Soupis definitely restaurant quality stuff. You would pay $18 for this in NYC. And it might not even have beef. Real props here. To get it for $11 is a steal.
My first time here, paid $23. and some change, when I got home I only had fat meat and bones. Never Never Again
Got their bulgogi box. Wow. Lots of different flavors, really freaking tasty
Food and service was great! Hope to try more items soon!
July 2022 update - It appears that the owner has changed. Food is good but different from before. So four stars instead of five.
I recently discovered that I love Korean food, so my fiancé and I tried out Garam. SO GOOD. When we left we were already discussing when we would come back.
First they me eating here. It is owned by a very sweet and hard working family. We had the dumplings, Miso soup, Bulgogi, and Kalbi. It was all very good. The food came out fresh and hot. Our server gave us all very good food recommendations. If you have not been here before, give it a try.
Really good food! I was a bit timid at first, not being familiar with the cuisine, but everything I tasted was delicious!
Excellent spicy pork and chicken bibimbap, dumplings were superb. Sides were tasty as well and complemented the meal nicely. Our entrees were around the $14 mark and were well priced for the serving size. We will definitely be ordering from here again.
I went for lunch and had the spicy chicken lunch box special. Everything was very delicious and well prepared. I felt that the price was reasonable for the portion size and the quality of the food. Service was a little slow but I was there for a lunch rush, And I was in no hurry, so I dont have any complaints there. My only complaint is that while I was there, the dining area smelled very heavily of a cheap air freshener. Im not sure what the air freshener was trying to cover up, but it made it worse rather than better. The smell of their delicious food would have been far preferable to an air freshener.
This is by far the best Korean food in Huntsville, and the only local place that serves corn cheese! Garam reminds me of a Korean restaurant that would be on Buford Highway in Atlanta.Great service and every item Ive had from the menu, including all of the Banchans are incredible and freshly made. Highly recommend the dinner box specials as you get a large assortment of foods to try.
Finally found a decent Korean restaurant in town.Heard its under new management. Pretty good.mi nuevo favorito coreano restaurante en huntsville !
Bulgogi / Kalbi were delicious.Service was great as well.Definitely will be back !
Cute little cafe with great prices! The interior of the restaurant was well decorated and super clean and the food was delicious! I highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking for a quick lunch stop! They even have plenty of nonspicy options for whimps like me!
Good quality food and friendly service. I lived in Korea for 6 years and I would say its the most authentic Korean restaurant in Huntsville.
Absolutely perfect. This is the most authentic Korean cuisine you can find in Huntsville. The service was phenomenal and the Bulgogi was just perfect. I can’t wait to go back, and if you haven’t been - give them a try. Such good prices too.
Stopped by for dinner with my boyfriend and friend. This marks me eating at every Korean joint in Huntsville (as far as Im aware). Garam is easily now one of my favorites, though I had good experiences at pretty much all of them except for I Love Korea, which was just adequate. At any rate, Garam is fairly spacious and nicely decorated, a bit more of a luxurious feel than its competition. Thats a plus, and hopefully to be expected, as I do feel the prices are a bit high for the portion sizes at Garam -- and therefore something must even that out!The menu is of average size, but it has more "adventurous" options than many of the other Korean restaurants in town. I stuck with my favorite, dolsot bibimbap, with beef. My friend had the dupbap, which seemed similar to the dolsot bibimbap, but without the hot stone bowl and with slightly more of a soupy texture. I tried it, and it was very tasty! A bit sweeter than bibimbap. On my end of things, the bibimbap was also delicious. Very tender beef, and I liked all the veggies: bean sprouts, cucumber, and carrots. The rice all got super crispy (yay!); my only complaint was that there wasnt quite enough. The egg on top was delightfully runny, and there were two red sauces to choose from. I dont know enough about Korean food to say definitively what they were. They both could have been gochujang, or perhaps only one; they were similar in color and texture but one came in a dish with the banchan and the other came in a bottle. The bottled one was slightly thinner and spicier. I added both to my bibimbap and loved it!While Im thinking about the banchan (small plates- not as many were given to us as you typically receive at other places in town, but they were all enjoyable. Kimchi was cool and crunchy, fish cakes were spongy and savory, seaweed was salty and sweet and flaky, and then the final dish...I couldnt identify the veggie, but it was definitely pickled, slightly spicy, and also quite tasty.Lastly, my boyfriend had bulgogi, which he devoured and pronounced amazing. We were also all served a cup of tofu soup, which was mild, warm, and enjoyable.Service was a bit lukewarm; she wasnt super friendly or welcoming when we came in, but seemed to warm to us over the course of the meal. Forks were offered, rather than me having to ask, which makes this anxious and incredibly unskilled chopstick non-user happy. My only complaints are the sort of cool service and the smaller portion sizes that come with a higher price. Still, the food was so tasty and flavorful Ill absolutely return; just maybe get an appetizer next time, and/or go at lunch!
I liked almost everything I had here. The server was not that friendly but nice.
The food was very good, the restaurant was very clean, and our server was attentive, helpful, and friendly. I would have been happier if there had been more Korean side dishes included.
We paid 45 dollars for bland food, a can of soda,a bottle of tea,and "tofu" that tasted like rank egg whites covered in a sweet sauce. The sides were better than the main meals. Also our drinks were 2.50 each which was already an upcharge but on out receipt they charged and extra 2 dollars for our drinks. Furthermore they told us they do not serve hot tea but gave old customers who spoke in Korean hot tea. I DO NOT RECOMMEND JUST GO TO I LOVE KOREA IN HUNTSVILLE.
I have been a dozen times and only ordered the Bibimbap, but it is the best in town, and that is saying something because there are at least three other Korean restaurants in the area. It comes out in a searing hot clay or metal pot with the rice sizzling on the bottom. If you like Bibimbap, this is a must try.
Good, reasonably priced food. Not a lot of my typical dishes on the menu. Forced me to eat something other than kimchichigae. I loved it. They also sell side dishes and alcohol.
I went to Garam Restaurant at the recommendation of my mother, who is Korean and a great cook herself. She recommended the Jampbong, which is a spicy seafood noodle dish with lots of vegetables. Its nice and cool in Alabama in December, and I do love me a good Jampbong to warm me up, so I thought I would give it a shot. It was excellent! The ingredients were fresh, the vegetables were perfectly bite sized, and the broth was not overly spicy. I saw other customers order other authentic Korean dishes and they, too, looked delicious.Update, 02 OCT 18: Went back again. Ordered 2 more bowls of legend. Again was not disappointed.
I have eaten here once before and had the Bibimbap and loved it. We could not wait to get back to try the Budae jjigae. I was hesitant about the spam becuase I did not like it as a child. This dish changed my mind. The atmosphere was quaint and the resturant was clean. Will be back for more.
The food was very tasty, a little too sweet for my taste, and the udon noodles were not as hot (temperatureas it should have been. With that said, it was still very delicious. The pot stickers were very hot and cooked to perfection. The kimchi was also very well prepared with just the right about spice.
The food was AMAZING! The hot stone bowl was simple but that allowed each item to keep its individual flavor and they balanced so well. The side dishes were flavorful. Definitely will ho back again.
The employees are always super sweet and understanding when we go. Its also not too busy during the afternoon. And I like how the food comes with different sides to add into your meals. Their Dolsot Bibimbap is wonderful and stays warm for a long time!
Delicious food, friendly service! Come hwere for a cozy cool little place! Perfect for a lunch meeting!
Awesome time meeting with Nikkia Dollar of Keller Williams Real Estate. We experienced kind and attentive service. I had very tasty short ribs, #18 on the menu. Great prices. Definitely going to eating here more often!
Food was pretty good. We had the jaeyook duruchigi and gumandu. There were minimal sides. The kimchi didnt seem fermented at all, so if you like really fresh kimchi you may like it. It seemed overpriced for both the portion and quality of food. The service was standard. Our waitress was a little offputting, and when we asked about the wine she said to look at the bottles on display and then quickly listed a bunch of beers, both import and domestic. If I wasnt familiar with popular Korean brands I wouldnt know what was available. They do have soju which was a plus. They have asahi, cass, and hite beer. A lot of favorites were missing from the menu (no kimchi jigae, bibimbap or Korean bbq of any sort to include bulgogi)and everything has a slightly different name than what is typical.
Really good bibimbap, pickled and spicy additional sides. Spicy sauce comes on the side so you can choose how you like yours. Highly recommended. You get to watch fantastic Korean TV while you eat. The menu is full of many interesting dishes to try. I hope to be back soon
Garam has authentic Korean food served by a knowledgable and courteous staff. It is my preferred Korean restuarant since The Korea House was bought out and closed by another competitor (not Garam). If you want to step out of your culinary comfort zone this is the place to experience another culture. I doubt that youll be disappointed. Try it, youll like it!
I had been craving Korean food since I moved to AL 4 months ago and Garam hit the spot! Its authentic because I could hear Korean spoken by the staff. Our host/server was very attentive and I enjoyed being able to watch a Korean program while eating my meal. I definitely want to go back!
Food was delicious, great service, good prices. Pot stickers are delicious.
This was my first visit to a Korean Restaurant. It was decorated very nice but most of all it was very clean. The atmosphere was fun. The food was served on a rolling tray with our main dish and six sides of food. The food was served hot and was very good and tasty. The server, Lee, was very helpful in helping us chose our food. She was also very attentive to us while serving us. It was a positive new experience and I plan to go back and take other friends to have this wonderful dining experience.
