Galindo in Santiago
Description
Privilege
Great food and experience. Got to know Carlos and Mauricio. Its better if you go on a work day (little less crowdedbetter than on a weekend. This place its a must go in Santiago
MoreThis is a good restaurant to try different chilean food at an affordable price. I tried their pastel de choclo and it was so good! Though I have a feeling that “Chef Mike” has a hand in cooking it, as the heat is not consistent. Anyways I still give them 5stars because they were very attentive.
MoreGood grill place for authentic Chilean food. Works for both lunch and late night beer induced hunger 😁
MoreVery average food - ordered the chorillana but zero seasoning, zero taste. Sad as really wanted to try local Chilean food and it was recommended.
MoreLarge variety and delicious food.
Excellent food and friendly service!Highly recomended if you look for typical chilean food
MoreThe pastel de choclo wasnt great, the quality of the meat seemed very low
So far, the best place we’ve found in Santiago to enjoy some traditional Chilean food and enjoy some craft beers. Amazing dishes, great service, and Bella Vista is a great artistic/bohemian neighbourhood to spend some time in.There might be a queue to get a table at peak lunch time, but it was pretty quick. Generous portions, no frills, but well worth a visit.
MoreReally tasty traditional Chilean food, and Pisco sours to wash it down (careful with these if you cant handle your booze!). We had a bean stew with beef brisket (cant remember the name), and the pastel de choclo, both recommended by the waiter and very tasty. Ate with a Mexican busker keeping us entertained outside and friendly locals chatting with us.
MoreGreat food and beers!
A perfect place in Bella Vista for authentic Chilean food. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and a wide selection of dishes to choose from. This is a no thrills restaurant serving up home cooked food and drinks.
MoreThe waitress laughed at my confusion with the Spanish menu but we had the pastel de choclo, lomito and terremoto. All were delicious and felt authentic, I would recommend.
MoreExcellent restaurant for seafoods. Very friendly place. We got a very good service from Raul. Highly recommended.
MoreHad the most incredible salmon dish I have ever eaten! Crispy crust and perfectly cooked with tasty rice. Other than the odd burst of mace/tear gas that causes a sneezing fit if sitting outside due to the recent demonstrations, its a must visit.
MoreFriendly service. Good food - I tried the chicken soup - with huge portions. Their pisco sour is strong! Craft beer was pretty good too.
MoreGreat food, wine and service. The Santa Ema Camenere was particularly good. Also the staff could not be any better.
MoreIve been going to Galindo for many years. Unfortunately, it has become quite the tourist trap and the quality has been decaying steadily. Although the service is decent, the last three times I went there the food was consistently mediocre, dry, and stale. Please, please look elsewhere if youd like good Chilean food.
MoreTried this place on recommendation of a local. I had my third meal there tonight- bistec a lo pobre, pastel de choclo and chicken cazuela. All very fresh and tasty meals. Service was good everytime and I didnt wait long at all. Portions are generous. Im sure there is cheaper food around if you look but other resturants sell fast food for the same price. I recommend this place :)
MoreGreat food and great atmosphere. Airline crew on a layover and let me tell you we had a great time. The food does take a little bit of time but thats ok because we enjoyed the wait talking and trying a couple of their beer options. The dessert was delicious and their entrees options are plenty to choose from. Also their entradas or appetizer empanadas are great as well *pic not included lol.. try it its in a great location and great atmosphere to spend a great night out..
MoreReally had high expectations from this location as locals and tour guides were giving high reviews but I think it really was a little disappointed. Came during a popular dinner time and it was packed. Restaurant itself had quite a bit of seating and our party of 2 didnt have to wait long although they stuck us in a corner table that was extremely packed for space. Decor is non-existent, service was quick and friendly however. Looking at the food, the free bread rolls were quite disappointing, cold and hard. Ordered the sea bass which should be an outstanding piece of fish but was met with a grilled/deep fried fish which had the taste of old oil. The soup was pretty good and I would highly recommend that. Mashed potatoes were not that great, quite gritty and not creamy or rich.
MoreI went on a Sunday at 2pm and there was a crowd of people waiting outside. However, since I was only 1 person, I only waited 10 min. I ordered and also only waited 5 minutes for the food to come. I got the pastel de choclo. It was pretty good.
MoreOrder food name”pastel de choclo” it is the best food i have in Chile. Highly recommend.
MoreI dont know. After hearing so much about this place, both from the locals and the tourists I really was expecting to find the ultimate Chilean cuisine. Much better and cheaper experiences can be found just walking around. Still, a fair place, highly overpriced.
MoreThis is a good place to eat chilean traditional food. My husband and I loved this place ❤️
MoreWe visited the restaurant with in total 5 persons. Although the food was good, we had a very bad experience as we were robbed and we did not notice anything unfortunately. When we asked for the camera pictures, which was located very close to where we were sitting, they would only be available in 2 days which sounded strange to me. This was too late for us anyway, as we were travelling back in 2 days early in the morning. When we were at the police station in the neighborhood for drawing up the police report, they told us that 2 days before us another foreigner was robbed in the same way as well in this restaurant..So therefore I would not recommend to visit this place.
MoreGreat place for Chilean food!
Good portions, decent prices, English menus, and Credence Clearwater playing in the background.
MoreThe experience was great for those interested in typical Chilean food!!! (A Most!)
MoreAuthentic Chilian food at very reasonable prices
Really nice example of Chilean food. Empanadas are terrific, & the Pastel de Choclo is not to be missed! They also have their own beer which was quite tasty. I would definitely return next time Im in Santiago.
MoreOrdered the pork but it was not good. Chewy and dry. Left half of it unfinished.
I definitely recommend this restaurant. All the dishes, among others, we tried were recommended by our tour guide. This is a place where you can definitely try Chilean food. We had the empanadas de Pino, the chicken soup and one sandwich. It was a lot of food but we were able to try from everything. The empanada was really tasty, as well as the soup. I have to say the sandwich need a bit more salt and maybe a bit more spicy chili. The waitress was really nice and friendly. When we asked to pay in usd, she recommended not to do it as it would not be in our advantage.
MoreGreat food and atmosphere. Inexpensive.
Delicious food, attentive staff. Split a bottle of wine and enjoy the atmosphere.
MoreGreat food in good portions.Authentic Ambiente and really fast and friendly staff.
MoreWe took the "beef a lo pobre" and some plate with smashed corn. Both were very tasty. I loved the beef. Very good quality beef. I leave some photos for your consideration.
MoreService is very pushy. The food is average. You see a combination of tourists and locals. I ordered a sort of corn casserole, here called pastel de choclo. The flavor was absent.I also ordered a glass of house wine and the waiter tried to convince me for a pricier one but I wanted to try the house one, and I felt he didn’t like that.I also ordered a glass of water which never arrived to my table. Service is fast but that’s about it. When I payed they didn’t even asked if I wanted to include the suggested tip, they just charged it. 👎🏼👎🏼
MoreGood portions and nice service
The service here was great and the quality of the food matched that. Great selection of wines too.
MoreThe worst steak ever. I went to this restaurant after saw ratings here. Order tender lions steak but I believe they served me with piece of meat like shoulder steak instead of tender lions. It was very hard to cut and eat and chew the meat. We just eat half and left the restaurant.
MoreGood local fare with a variety of choices. We went there twice to try out different dishes and we liked lomo pil-pil, arrollado al plato con agregado, and caldillo del congrio. Pastel de choclo and cazuela de vacuno were average. Service was good and they spoke English.
MoreHave eaten here numerous times and continue to return. Traditional Chilean food at great prices. Its a good indicator of a restaraunt when its full of locals and not just tourists. Didnt disappoint.
MoreA tourist trap with some overpriced food. But the food was decent and they are very nice and tourist friendly.
MoreCant beat Galindo for some tasty, good value Chilean food to go with a beer or two.. Try the caldillo de congrio.
MoreThis is your stop for a good quality Chilean food. Excellent service, fresh vegetables and tasty food. You should try Pastel de choclo, it is really delicious. Good environment, fast service. No crazy wait time. Highly recommended. Their desserts look awesome but I didn’t have any space to try them.
MoreThis was not a place to go for a fancy dinner or anything light/fancy, but if youre in the mood for grease and alcohol this is an excellent excellent choice. A group of three of us ordered the chorillana and a $6000 "jug" of house wine, which turned out to be a generous pitcher of sangria and it was perfect. We were full and satisfied after just that. To be fair though, I dont know that we would have been as happy if we had ordered anything else from the menu.
MoreGood place for a quick bite of traditional Chilean food. Efficient and friendly service.
MoreWhere : Galindo restaurant – Santiago - ChileTitle: Great Chilean taste !Galindo’s restaurant was recommended by our guide from the Free walking tour to have a taste of the Chilean traditional food without spend a fortune. The place is located in Providencia neighbourhood that is really nice place to stay around. It’s a real traditional Chilean restaurant, it’s not fancy but cozy and the service is great and fast. We had tried “Pastel de Choclo”, that is a corn pie made of mashed corn, grounded beef, onions, egg, chicken, black olives and raisins. Different good.Grade: Eli = 5, Serge = 5Recommend: Yes we totally recommend.
MoreTendered rolled pork, okay priceWas recommended to come here by the free tour Santiago guide to try the fish fish. But the price is over a 7100 minimum and I heard that this roll pork with pork skin is good. Good choice over the fish. The staff is very attentive and great atmosphere
MoreGood place, good food, reasonable price!! Missing something spectacular, but then... only very very few places have it. Maybe I just did not feel it this first time.
