This place is a high end oasis in Nouakchott. Look for the blue doors. On my initial visit, a nice young local man showed me around the property and let me know there is a Saturday "farmers market." I returned on Saturday and found some really fresh produce AND I treated myself to lemon tarts and mini-quiches. Nothing was cheap, but everything was delicious! I also saw that people were buying coffee and drinking it at tables in the courtyard.I also treated myself to some silver earrings and a nifty keychain.

Galerie Zeinart is an oasis of peace and good taste in a dusty and sometimes overwhelming Nouakchott. Its Portuguese owner, Isabel, is warm and engaging and a great source of local knowledge. The art on display is curated with great care and offers a good insight into Mauritanian and regional art scene.
