Galeri Perbandaran Taiping in Taiping

A good place to visit before you start exploring Taiping town. Friendly staff and you can get good informative brochures to plan your Taiping Heritage Walk as well as other places of interest. The building itself is a restored former government office and don’t forget to see the Strong Room built in 1891. Park at the side of the Galeri.

This Taiping Town Gallery acts as a tourist information center with some interesting exhibits. A strong room with antique safe boxes is one of the attractions. There, according to the helpful staff, the strong room was used to keep maps and important documents during the colonial era. Come here and get more information of Taiping before exploring the town. Entrance free.

来到这里，感觉有点荒凉，除了火车头，行人天桥和站牌，好像没什么好看！但这里绝对是值得来看看的，就冲着那座从大山脚旧火车站搬过来而拥有百年历史(建于1899年)的维多利亚式行人天桥，就值回一切了！

I came here Saturday 10 am but it was closed.

Bandar Taiping amat sinonim digelar bandar orang pencen kerana suasananya yang tenang,nyaman dan jauh sekali untuk melihat kesesakan jalan raya..disamping bangunan2 lama mcm orang pencen gak..hahaha...banyak aktiviti outdoor yang boleh dilakukan disini...antaranya daki bukit Larut..mandi air terjun di Burmise pool..melawat zoo Taiping sambil beri makan haiwan...pilihan makanan juga menarik mengikut selera masing2...sama ada lepak di stesen lama KTM Taiping,perkena keenakan Ayam panggang Dindings,lepak sambik mencuba yong tau foo melayu kat balai bomba,laksa buyong bukit gantang yg mavelos dan juga pekena koey tiaw goreng udang sham di medan selera simpang.

One of must-go places for train manias. You can see old diesel locomotive and footbridge without entering the building. Very impressive.

An informative one stop centre for any enquiries about Taiping

Just open to public for visit. The place will be a tourist information centre. You also can enter the vault inside the building with original box still attached to the wall. Friendly staff, nice architecture, please help us to make it better.

14.4.2018 kesini. Sgt2 menyedihkan. Kawasan sekitar sgt daif. Galeri ditutup tetapi tiada notis dibuat. Ada penjaga tetapi beliau sedang cuci baju mcm berada di rumah dlm galeri..seram plak.

Beautiful historical building but lack artifacts and poor guest relation.

The building itself holds a lot of history..and in good condition..but sadly..not much is made use out of it..should have been made as a museum or something.

We went there 3 years ago. Scrolling through other reviews, i found out that they are under renovation. They also changed from first galleria to galeri perbandaran taiping. However, im just going to write my review based on what my friends and i remembered. We went there with zero expectation. However when were there , we were given a guide (a practical student who took tourism courseto show us around. I forgot his name but he was so passionate in telling us the history and things that were displayed in the galleria. To be honest, we were completely impressed. He was able to answer our questions and even shared certain rumors about certain places in Taiping. To cut short, we still remembered how delightful our trip turned out that evening.

It was closed when we were there. Used to be named First Galeria. The British colonial building was completed in 1891
