Over hyped really. The experience and staff were good but the food was extremely below average. There’s no meat it’s only seafood and extremely low non vegetarian options. Would not recommend it.

The service & ambience is great, no complaint. Thanks for the extra exquisite banana juice! Friendly chefs came out to present a few dishes, which was nice of them. Most courses were tasty and inventive. The main course, grilled durian, was disappointing and anti-climatic. Almost a flavourless creamy paste. Lacking meat for those who are carnivores, except for a surprise lil pork belly course. Overall its good, but for sure its on the pricier side. THB4,400 + 17% tax. Glad I visited, but for a repeat visit, either the price is ard THB3,000 with fewer staff (overstaffed, and can do without the uni or caviaror throw in a better main course/good lamb/beef, or have some wow! presentation. I hope there is improvement, definitely much potential here. Chef should be more confident to push punchier, thrilling, magical Indian flavours or increase showmanship. The proudly advertised promise was "never ending flavours" and "local ingredients". Falls short. The inclusion of uni & caviar is.. as disconnective as including sushi, pasta or dimsum (unless have a crazy Indian twist). There are so many sauces, curries, spices, foods to explore but too many of them missing.

What a journey they take you on! The service, food and atmosphere 5 star! Also catered the entire night to dairy free requirements, by making the same dish but with different ingredients. Everyone there are true professionals and well priced. Cocktails made right, along with wine pairing with your meal too. Highly recommended, you need to add this place to your itinerary when you come to Bangkok.

Absolutely amazing! We went there to celebrate our anniversary and it was a mind blowing experience. The food was very well executed and the chef showed creativity throughout each dish admirably.I also love that they served Durain as the main course. The chef was very brave to elevate a thai fruit to savory with mildly sweet and creamy flavour.

A bit of a mixed bag, I really like some dishes are good — my fav was the 3 snacks, some were interesting — the durian main dish was definitely interesting not sure if I’ll have it again, but at least good to try, and some are a bit uninspiring.

We went for a birthday treat whilst visiting Bangkok, for the first time in years. We were half an hour late due to traffic and the staff were totally relaxed. The manager was waiting by the entrance when we arrived and totally charming. We had the Rasa tasting menu. It is pricey by South East Asian standards, good value by European standards. And so worth it! The food was amazing and I was totally stunned by the tandoor durian main course. As someone who avoids durian at all cost, this dish was a revelation. Combined with the accompaniments and indian style bread - it was extraordinary and so delicious. It has to be one of the most extraordinary thing I have eaten ever, in my life. The level of imagination exceeds many of the fine dining/Michelin places we have been to elsewhere in the world. The chef Garima Aurora came out a couple of times to speak to us, she was lovely, humble and authentic. Our table host was also utterly charming and her recommendation of the lychee toddy was well received. Utterly delicious and very potent. She also very kindly got the menu signed by the whole kitchen team before we left as a momento. The fact they took time out of a busy evening service to do that shows a coherent team who care about the customer experience. I liked the fact that they didnt push us on the drinks pairings (alchoholic or non-alchoholicand let us range over the drinks menus. They dont push refills either and it was a relaxed experience in a beautiful, calm dining room. As a Gaggan/Noma etc protege, Chef Garima has her own voice and this is a very different experience to those trying to compare Gaa with Gaggan. The portions are small as one would expect with this style of dining. But as you progress through the tasting menu, I guarantee you will be full. I was so full at the end of it, I couldnt quite cope with the final desserts. You are not offered digestifs or drinks after dinner - this is not needed. And yes, they do manage the sittings very promptly but despite arriving late, we did not feel rushed and no-one made us feel we had to rush through our meal or leave early. We noticed another table of diners who didnt want the tasting menu and wanted to mix and match with ala carte and share menus. The manager couldnt be more helpful in trying to accomodate these diners. But as an observation if you do go for the evening tasting menu, dont mix and match, experience the whole experience with the procession of small plates. The thoughtful and beautiful table ware, settings and the food - It is all extraordinary. This is really worth a visit if in Bangkok but allow plenty of time to arrive for evening sittings, Sukhumvit is traffic choked and walking from the BTS station is not pleasant with all the traffic fumes. So plan ahead with plenty of time for travel and definitly visit. Thank you for an amazing experience.

I dont write reviews but im motivated enough to write this one. Very underwhelming experience. The food is highly pretentious. Of the 12 courses on offer not one was worth remembering. In fact many courses were very amateurish in their make up. The biggest disappointment were the desserts. Oh my gosh! Absolutely unimaginative. If this restaurant should get a Michelin Im very disappointed in the entire Michelin rating! Its US$150 per meal and an absolute waste of money and time. Try Nadodi in KL, or Indian Accent. The chefs there put some thought into their menus.

I love Indian food. I’m really enjoy first 3 course but overall too simple for 1 Michelin star. Compare with other 1 star restaurant I had before. when they served the first dessert Mango with pomelo and orange. It’s similar to Chinese dessert but put coconut jelly instead sago. Unbelievable that they served like that. I’m very disappointed

Had Gaa Experience with around 12 courses. Total be 8 people. Atmosphere was good, staff are attentive and can explain the dishes quite well. The main course (grilled durianwas a bit disappointing comparing to other dishes, and Im a person who love durian. Pastry was only ok-ish. The rest were very good. Baby Corn was good but not as spectacular as the staff tried to advertise it😉

We like small dishes. The grilled Durian main dish was heavy and doesnt taste anything special. We did not like it. They didnt really have good desserts. We were excited to go there but in the end we are quite disappointed. Very expensive, not good value for your money. The chefs still need lots of improvements. Also, they really rush to clean up the plates and glasses that we did not finish eating yet. Not a good experience. We realize afterwards that they want to have the guests for second round.

Interesting experience. I liked the chaat and langoustine the most - main course was durian and it was a cool spin. Overall, personally I’m not a fine-dining person so I think it’ll be more appropriate to have this for special occasions with your loved ones. Thanks for having me 🙏🏼

Not a big fan of Indian cuisine but has been wanting to try Gaa coz of its fame. Food did not disappoint.. quite innovative and unique dining experiences to me… grilled durian was the highlight of the night given I normally don’t eat durian. They charge THB4,400++ which quite a reasonable price for the number of courses and the effort put into it.

I must say I really wanted to like this place but left not liking it at all. They tell a very nice story, the restaurant looks very nice and everything was nicely presented but there was very little that excited me in taste, creativity and execution as well as service.First I informed the restaurant in advance that I was coming alone as my girlfriend was not feeling well. They never asked how my girlfriend was feeling. There is one set menu which is fine, however, no price on the menu, so surprise till the end. At lest the wine pairing had prices on it.So I said I would likely take the wine pairing but ordered a cocktail first. Then they wanted to pour me the cremant from the wine pairing before my cocktail arrived, so from the beginning poor communication between the team.Anyway I finally got the cocktail from HERE restaurant downstairs which is the casual dining version. It was nice.I didnt like the creamant from Alsace, it tasted like very strongly fermented apple juice and was way too overpowering for the Chaat starter, which didnt taste of much at all as the pomegranate granita was so cold one could not taste anything. The three small bites next the Bombay sandwich and the uni toast were quite nice, although the "toast" was probably too strong for the uni. The Paniyaram was not great as the pastry was too thick and stogy so one could not really get much of the filling. The diy tuna was nice but difficult to eat. It looked nice but consider a different vessel. The grilled corn was good, yet very simple, without any great techniques applied. The rice, lamb, caviar dish was half nice half terrible. The rice toasty was nice on its own and the lamb could live up to it and worked well together, but the caviar really did not match with it at all, frankly I would say the caviar was just there to justify the price of the menu it was really a waste to serve it like that. The next dish was the most controversial, although the beef was very tasty this was the dish I principally complained about. It had so much sinew it was very difficult to bite especially wrapped in the malai pancake that was falling apart before even touching, so really difficult to eat. There was so much sinew which was so tough one could not eat the whole meat. Also the crispy kale was only partially crispy and had so much stalk on it that one could not eat all of it. One would really expect to be able to eat every little morsel on the plate at such a fine restaurant. The feedback from the kitchen was that chef agreed with me.The crab was quite good and nicely served. The pork belly was dry and chewy. The durian main was a revelation and very good including the sauce. Mixed feelings about the condiments and very much let down by the much hyped bread, it was stogy/chewy.The pre desert was ok.The main desert served very nicely, but the roti was very poor and here the cherry granita should have been more of and actually frozen but it was all melted. The sweet nibbles at the end were indeed all very sweet, but very poor. Bad meringue, the crispy rice in white chocolate was not crispy and so on...You see I didnt write anything about the wines since the beginning, well there is nothing much to say, very unremarkable pairing, trying too hard to be special with no obvious purpose. In conclusion form over function, poor execution and the pastry/bread station is sub par. Then when the bill came the surprise. No apology for the issues I had, not even a drink on the house. Now I dont want to get discounts at restaurants I want to pay full price for good food and service, but if the restaurant messes up they should at least try to make up for it somehow. After I had another chat with the manager she removed the drink from the bill.In any event I felt so disappointed that I thought I should share this feedback for the public.Great for Instagram but very underwhelming for the taste buds.

The visit to Gaa was entirely serendipitous after we were denied boarding on our flight home. We decided to make full use of our extra night and spent the evening indulging in the delectable Indian-fusion menu curated by Chef Garima Arora, the first Indian woman to earn a Michelin Star. Our gastronome journey was nothing short of breathtaking as our tastebuds were tantalized by Indian flavors coupled with interesting use of local Thai spices. The experience was further enhanced by Chef Garima’s personal introduction to some of the dishes and assisted by sommelier Maria who patiently guided us through each course. 2.5 hours and 14 courses later, we’ve concluded that it was possibly the best Michelin Star experience we’ve had so far.

This was definitely an experience well worth the price. We are vegetarian and they set up a vegetarian menu for us that exceeded all of our expectations. Mind you that my husband mentioned it was our honeymoon and they congratulated us on the menu. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and the service was on point. You see how they all work as a team to creat this perfect experience and make it seem so easy and seamless when it’s actually very very hard to accomplish. Every single detail of the experience is perfect, the presentation, the food, the way they place the dishes at the exact same time on the table, the way they anticipate your needs so you never really need to ask for anything, etc.The chef comes out to explain most of the dishes and asks for feedback on the food afterwards, she does this with every table, manages somehow to look relaxed and makes conversation, while she has a full house, and is obviously under tons of stress behinds the scenes to make sure everything comes out perfect. The staff is A++ and trained to explain all of the dishes as well, this takes tons of preparation so I was definitely impressed. This experience is about trying new things, new flavors, and experiencing dishes you will not have anywhere else. You may love some flavors more than others but every single dish was unique and a piece of art and an explosion of amazing flavors and tastes. My personal favorite was the Durian and the eggplant and the second courseMy only advice is to make sure that you arrive really hungry so don’t eat a lot during the day and avoid late lunch because it is a TON of food. We weren’t able to finish the main course and the last courses even though they were great and even though we ate way past our limit, this was mostly because we had a late lunch. Also, we went on our first night in Bangkok after arriving late the night before from a long flight, jet lagged hit us halfway through dinner and it was a struggle to stay focused and awake. It’s such a nice experience that we would have enjoyed it even more if we had waited to do it on another night or for lunch the following day.

Amazing dining experience at GAA! The food was 10/10, I would 100% recommend! Truly outstanding- what a talented chef! The chef even came out to serve some of the dishes herself. My husband and I both have food allergies (seafood, nuts, gluten freeand we were not disappointed. Sometimes eating at tasting menus is tough because of the changes that need to be made in recipes but not at GAA. Very friendly servers and of course the presentation of the courses was so impressive. I live in NYC and can say that the food and service was well worth the price. In NYC this meal would have cost $1000. I will go back for sure!

Can’t express how excited I am about this experience! The chef did beautiful work with Indian and local flavors. Most of the ingredients are simple yet have very complex layers of tastes. I had lots of fun with the dishes and they all tasted amazing. My favorites are the duck doughnuts, the betel leaf, crayfish and the pork dish. Wine pairing was delicious. Sometimes fine dining could be a miss but Gaa is no such place. I was wowed. Overall highly recommend!

The personnel were friendly and courteous, and they all spoke English. The facility was elegant and spacious. It is not accessible: there are multiple short staircases for various levels of the building. The meal was chosen for us by the chef and the menu presented at the end (its a Michelin star restaurant). We had Indian cuisine paired with non-alcoholic drinks. It wasnt too spicy at all! Food allergy was accommodated because we called ahead of time, during our appointment booking.

Indian food with Thai sourced ingredients. Delicious, I recommend this restaurant. The waiter explains each course but his accent was so thick I often had no idea what I was eating. Many small courses. The menu is set, the only decision you make is whether to pair with wine or a series of delicious non-alcoholic drinks.12,711 baht with non-alcoholic pairings, or 15,211 baht with wines. Although it was a delicious meal I’m not sure it was worth this price considering all the other wonderful restaurants you could go to.

Firstly, it’s not 100% veg. The entire experience is worthy of 5/5. Service and food is excellent. The place is opposite the old Gaggan. The entire experience is about 2 hours.Food: 5/5Not your spicy Indian reconstruction type and it goes really well. From start to last dish, which dish have character and carries its own flavours. You don’t get a dull dish!Non-alcoholic pairing: 3/5It’s nice but I feel it’s a bit expensive at 1400 THB.Explanation of food: 4/5The fish dish where they introduce a lot of element is great but I feel the staff can explain a bit more so that we save the “pancakes” for all the other side dishes. Ended up finishing the pancake with the strawberries and not too sure should I wait till the last for the caviar.

Surprisingly it was easy to book. We booked at noon for the same evening. In overall it was a great experience, food was creative and well executed. I particularly like the fact it was informal and not too pompous. Hospitality was great also. Staff will first explain the concept of the restaurant and that you won’t know in advance what you will eat which add a little bit of surprise.

The best Indian meal Ive ever had. Really shows what can be done with a cuisine thats often not elevated well. The menu all seemed unique and interesting without feeling like it had to force fine dining Indian by just using more expensive ingredients to refine the food which is often what you see.Every dishwash was quite simple which really allowed the creativity and technique to shine.Just go, it will not disappoint

Enjoyed my experience in Gaa. There are some dishes that wasnt for my taste buds like the cold soup for instance. But besides that the other dishes were just amazing. The chef really brought out the full flavours of the ingredients. Pure artistry was put into making and designing those dishes. I loved the caviar combined with the banana drink and the prawn dish was simply perfect. The fat on leave was also amazing. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back! 🤣 I got the chance to experience both the non alcohol pairing and the wine pairing. For me the wine pairing was much better for me. But thats my opinion. The staff especially Carry was very attentive. Most of the staff members were very welcoming and friendly. Overall enjoyed my time here. Would definitely dine here again! Hopefully I get the chance to meet the chef on my next visit.

+ Staff were incredibly attentive+chefs made the food delicious+ creative menu- for the price the downstairs dining area is almost TOO casual, like you’re eating in your friend’s living room because they don’t want you to make a mess in their dining room....+ Some dishes were delicious and creative, but those usually were the dishes with 1 tiny bite.- All the larger dishes were the cold, bland dishes.- There was ALOT of pork, I’d like to see them expand more on meats you don’t typically see in every food stall

We were so lucky to get a table at night by booking at noon... it is totally AMAZING! Chefs are really creative with the new dishes which you can’t taste anywhere else in the world. The highlight of the night wasn’t food though... it is the non-alcohol drinks pairing - yes non-alcohol ones... All created and made in the restaurant... just unbelievably delicious. Actually by end of the night we wished to order some of the drinks for home:-Their staff are very nice and asked for feedback on everything... you do feel that you are well looked after here.PS. Another lovely thing is that different chefs will come out to introduce the dish they prepare for you... so you get to talk to them... nice touch!PS2. The meal wasn’t the cheapest one but think about the quality in food, drinks and their service... great value!

To be honest, quite disappointed. The foods somehow lacked of complexity, and they don’t even taste that nice. I was so excited and even booked the restaurant one month ago, but the result turned out to be quite sad. Basically there’s not much food is well-executed. This time I won’t recommend it to anyone. Garima Arora, 32-year-old Mumbai-bred chef and luminary of Gaa, in the news since mid-November 2018 as Indias first woman to win the coveted Michelin star, isnt making a big deal about it. At Gaa, its business as usual. The decor has been uncharitably called confusing or Nordic but to my peasant mind its one of the most unostentatious restaurants Ive eaten at in a while. The sliding door lets you into a somber, minimally prettified place, more repurposed house than star-rated restaurant, with dim areas broken by bright halogen-lit zones, the secrecy of a taverna with the promise of a members-only banquet. Small flights of stairs lead away at different angles into basements and mezzanines, creating the alternative reality of an MC Escher painting.Garima might be seen bustling about with her army of multinational chefs, who will also personally introduce and serve you the dishes they have created. Working in pairs at brightly lit stations, they craft the meticulous culinary masterpieces that have made Gaa an overnight sensation in the brutally competitive, male-dominated world of international cuisine. The single Michelin star is given to "a very good restaurant in its category".You can indeed detect influences both Indian and Thai within Gaas fixed 10-course or 14-course menus with wine pairing options. The overall effect, however, is of being joyously ambushed by unexpected flavor fairies, textures and colors. For instance, betel leaves, a post-prandial chew in India and an active ingredient in Thai cooking, are served both at the top and the bottom of the menu. A single green, betel leaf thinner than a khakra, crisped in a film of duck stock seasoned with herb salts is served within a potted shrub of straw branches. The betel leaf at the end has a dual personality, half chocolate and half ethereal fennel powder. I thought I had crushed a sweet rose petal and I had. The leaf is dotted with rose chutney and silvered cardamom.Three other dishes stood out — the chilled soup of raw guava, roselle and fermented mulberries that started our evening. Guavas are a national snack in Thailand but you dont often see the pink-cored ones common in India. The soup sets a high bar for the rest of the evening. The sixth menu item, simply called Corn, brings you roasted baby corns, kept piping hot within a swaddle of green husks and kernels rubbed with lemon, chilly powder and black salt, exactly as sold on the streets of Delhi and Mumbai. A clever cut around the base lets you slide the husk off, drawing the corn out like a sword from a scabbard. The indubitable show-stealer is the unripe jackfruit served with dime-sized rotis and pickles. Sweet yellow jackfruit flowers are popular snacks in Thailand but several Indian states put the unripe jackfruit to creative use. Its robust, meaty taste makes it a popular vegetarian alternative to mutton in biryanis. If the starting dishes were airy super-bites, this one is a main course.Making experimental food taste as good as it looks is a balancing feat few modern chefs master. Garimas intense, single-minded focus on whats plated at Gaa puts her on a culinary high-wire. The result is food that bewitches your eyes first, and then utterly seduces your tongue.

This two michelin star restaurant in bangkok serves superb dishes and mainly focuses on creative Indian-Thai dishes. The ingerdients used here are fresh and high quality. This restaurant also has a unique "Juice pairing" which is about 1,248 Baht(38USDand serves the same purpose as your usually wine pairing but with non-alchoholic drinks. The dishes served here are indeed creative! For example, Ice cream topped with pork floss. Furthermore, staffs were very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy.

The food is yumms but the restaurant setting is a small house converted to restaurant. The dining areas are small rooms with 4 to 6 tables set, the servers eagle over you and is uncomfortably intense, especially when I ate at an earlier time. Location is hard to find, in a small alleyway. I am a fan of the friendliness of Thai service with no judgemental looks, but I couldnt help feel overly watched by the crowd of waiters hanging over my meal. And the tea coffee after meal does cost extra, waiters didnt mention that. Food I recommend is the frozen chicken liver and the burnt coconut ice cream.

Ate the set menu for New Years. Food was in general good! Expect fine dining and experimentation. For a restaurant focusing on local, it would’ve been nice to see more regional food and drink combinations, rather than mainly European pairings. Ambiance was great and staff extremely friendly. Tasting menu with wines was a pricier combo. Cocktails were superb!
