GIA: Drink.Eat.Listen in Greensboro
Description
Privilege
We have always loved Gia. We eat there nearly every week and have never had a bad experience until today. In the past, the service, drinks and food have always been spot on. Today the food was as good as ever (Our thanks to the kitchen. but the service gets an F. The bartender/server was rude, never once smiled and seemed to hate his job and dealing with customers. Every time he had to interact with us seemed to be a bother. His drinks were substandard and tasted nothing like the same drinks that we had enjoyed so much in the past from Josh, Sophie and. Nate. Sadly as regular weekly customers, we will never return if he is manning the bar. Please bring back bartenders who are congenial and love working in the hospitality industry. I never complain because I want local restaurants to succeed but this needs to be corrected.
MoreI had a party of 7 people that just wanted to have a couple of drinks. There were at least 8 spots at the bar and tables available. We were told that they didn’t have a table in the restaurant or at the bar for a party of 7. We were willing to stand, or sit where ever, but again we’re told there was nothing available. I have never in my ENTIRE life been refused service somewhere. We had just spent a lot of money for dinner at Imperial Koi next door, and just wanted to have one drink. Let me be clear…. This restaurant was not packed or busy and these spots were not reserved. It was incredibly embarrassing and unprofessional the way the hostess treated us. I am not sure if this restaurant is under new ownership but they are willing to turn away a paying party if 7!! I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.Thank for your response. For the record, she never asked for our telephone number for follow up on a table.
MoreWe were here for brunch. The food was excellent and the atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming. Our server was Allison and she was top notch. She was efficient and she engaged us in conversation which was enjoyable.Of note was the amazing mushroom soup. I have not had any to compare to what I had at Gias. The soup was flavorful and quite tasty. Next time Ill order a bowl instead of a cup!We are anxious to return for dinner and we would absolutely return again for brunch! We had a pleasant, relaxing time!
MoreA group of us stopped by here Saturday early evening for a drink. There were plenty of seats available but were turned away citing they had no room. Keep in mind, we were well dressed, had just had dinner next door at Imperial Koi, had plenty of money to spend and there were multiple seats open at the bar and tables open. The hostess was extremely rude and very unprofessional. For the other employees that were working hard trying to make money I hope she is removed from greeting guests and turning away money that otherwise would have went into their pockets. What a shame as we will never attempt to go back. Don’t waste your time going!
MoreFantastic brunch! Jam and Biscuit were so yummy, and the pesto hash was particularly delicious! Thank you!
MoreWalked out!!! Would not serve Wellers Reserve for some upity reason????? They had 5 bottles in this cabinet right next to where they seated me. If it’s not for sale,………..DON’T DISPLAY IT !!!! The guy had the the gall to ask me what it wanted to spend……… I thought I was at dinner, not buying a car!!!!! Pretty sure I was driving the most expensive car in the parking lot. Not that that matters, but I’m not homeless. Worst experience ever in my 62 years. He tried to upswell me some bourbon they bought by the barrel. Management should be ashamed and fired!!!!! Check my other reviews, I’m not a complainer
MoreGreat atmosphere and vibe. Interesting menu with some dishes meant to be shared (smaller plates meant for sharing). Loved the frittes, brussell salad and cod. Fantastic drink list as well.
MoreLovely ambience, cordial staff, & wonderful selection of tapas. Highly recommend the octopus, spicy sausage flatbread, focaccia, & chicken w/ potato foam if you get to visit before the menu changes. Peach cobbler was my favorite dessert option. Definitely plan to come back for a cocktail class and/or bourbon club tasting in the future!
MoreWe celebrated our anniversary at GIA while on a road trip through Greensboro and enjoyed charcuterie, wine, burrata, frites, falafel and creme brulee. The service was fantastic, the food was excellent and the ambiance was perfect. There is something for everyone here!
MoreHad a fantastic private bridal brunch at GIA on Sunday. Every detail was perfect and Eric was so gracious and helpful. Our food was top notch and our server, Sophie, was incredible. I cannot say one negative thing about our experience. Thank you everyone for making our event so wonderful. It will always be a special memory for our family.
MoreThis is my special indulgence restaurant; I come here frequently and am never disappointed. Tonights dinner was absolutely exquisite, the ambiance perfect, and the servers/staff goes above and beyond. If I am ever able to pick my last meal, it will be from Gia!!
MoreFood that actually makes you say WOW! Bevs and staff are phenomenal. Make sure you save room for desert. This is a gem in Greensboro for sure!
MoreThe soup was very good but the rest of the food wasn’t. The bean burger taste horrible, the glaze chicken was very rubbery, The cauliflower was smothered in sweet sauce and tasted like dessert. Basically you pay for the atmosphere, but if your hungry go elsewhere.
Moregreat food and drink. love the bourbon flights. interested in the bourbon pairing dinner. how does one book this?
MoreOne of the best places in the area if you want an atmosphere with rustic character and an aesthetically pleasing menu. This is my favorite spot for a date night hands down.
MoreThis place should be 5 stars but the ribeye was cooked medium. (I even asked about temp to make sure it was medium rare). The Pork Belly was bland, and our creme brulee custard was liquid. 150$ dinner between 2 people should be close to perfect imo and this was far from it.
MoreMy wife and I frequent at Gia and decided to have them throw my wife’s 40th birthday bash (Christmas in July). Nino, Eric, and the rest of the Gia crew did an amazing job making sure that everything was perfect. Drinks, food, and customer service was impeccable as always. Thanks for being awesome guys!
MoreOur service was amazing!!the food was delicious & our drinks paired perfectly with entrees and GIA is also are apart of the bourbon club!!!
MoreThis was the 2nd time I had been to GIA and it was a great experience. Everyone was very friendly, excellent customer service. The cocktails and good were delicious and we had a nice private-ish table off by itself for my wife to enjoy 🍾 her birthday in peace.
MoreAttended a rehearsal dinner here last week! Loved the pizza appetizers, the main course with chicken, mashed potatoes, etc. was good but not super flavorful. A great space for hosting events overall
MoreHad lunch at Gia today. We are new to town and this was our first time eating there. We loved everything! The vibe, the service, the drinks and the food were all excellent. We look forward to returning for our next meal.
MoreWe had a great experience hosting an open bar graduation cocktail party at GIA. The food was great, the staff was welcoming and very accommodating, and the cost very reasonable. We actually had planned to host our party at a VRBO that canceled on us last minute. GIA really saved the day; we should have planned to host there in the first place. Thanks Eric for a perfect evening!
MoreWent for a Lunch and Learn event sponsored by TCS. The private room was great. Service was attentive without being disruptive. And the food was very tasty. I was shocked by their Whiskey and Whisky selection. I definitely will be going back on my own time.
MoreTried for the second time to eat here and left again - just a miserable place. Made reservations earlier in the week to find our table moved up and literally at the bar. When we asked if we can have a normal table (there were at least 3 empty to choosewe were told special tables need to be requested - 5 years here and never knew - kinda thought thats what you make a reservation). Prices are high, parking terrible. Thought we would give second chance - will pass over in future.
Morewe had a lovely time. Our server was attentive, professional and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and the servings were enough that we didnt leave hungry. They had a nice selection of beer and wine (although the bartender seemed a little too busy or too distracted to offer any insight into the whiskey selections that my husband asked about). Other than that, we had a wonderful evening.
MoreWhat a awesome restaurant. If you are looking for great food and a wonderful atmosphere this is the place. Everyone from the owner to the staff are the best. They will do everything possible to make your dining experience perfect. Truly the best restaurant in Greensboro NC!!!
MoreDrinks were good, food was meh. Fried artichoke was soggy and bland. Flatbread was alright, but something about the mozzarella was off it was kind of rubbery. Avoid the pork belly at all costs..sooo soggy, not enough of a sear to really break down the fat and give it the crispy, crunchy crust it needs. If you want a good pork belly hit up Machete.
MoreA unique and always exciting dining experience. You would expect to only be able to get this type of food in much bigger cities.(Valentines day 2022 - Update:)In 8 years, Nino (the ownerhas taken his unique and progressive restaurant to a well polished, acutely refined, and utterly impressive level. His staff is professional, naturally friendly, and dynamically adaptable to make you, and your party feel welcome and comfortable. The kitchen staff is packed, with diverse and masterful chefs, absolutely deserving of world class awards and commendations, IMHO. Nino has a real talent, for finding the best restaurant staff for every position, in the house. He has created an environment, where practitioners of the culinary arts, can shine with a passion that shows in every dish. Our waitress, Emily, was intuitive, attentive, and comprehensive of all the offerings available. Hannah, while preparing food in front of us, provided excellent consultation of menu choices, and even prepared a special sample dish (not "yet" on the menu), that was to die for. Every plate set in front of us was culinary bliss, to put it mildly. The highest quality ingredients, structurally encouraged creativity, and top tier service, made for one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Justin and Hannah (chefsmade sure our plates were perfect, in every way. Emily made sure we stayed extremely comfortable, and was attentive (even perceptiveto all our needs. Nino, well done my friend! I could not possibly articulate how great this establishment is or recommend it higher. Anyone who loves food MUST experience Gias. 5 stars in all categories. The one thing I must mention, is that you need more parking spaces.
MoreThis review is for GIA Brunch:Ive had the pleasure of dining at GIA for dinner service several times now and each time has been a great experience. This Sunday was my 1st time joining them for brunch. My wife and I started with a French Press and the Bacon board. Coffee was spot on, and youll never hear me complain about a plank piled with bacon! My wife ordered the Sunday French Toast, which I believe changes each week. It was topped with spiced apples, arils, praline, and a sweet cream. (forgive my descriptors, GIAs make its sound much more elegantFor my entrée, I went with the biscuits and gravy, a southern staple. GIA played it safe with this dish. Keeping to the traditional B&G blueprint, while also managing to give it their own spin. Id gladly order again! We also ordered a side of pesto hash, which paired well with the remaining gravy. This next section is for the Sunday bottle warriors or the early bird cocktail fan. Youll be happy to know that GIAs mixologists have curated a must try brunch drink menu. Creative cocktails and a robust list of mocktails for those not willing to partake in the morning festivities. Ill end this review with 1/2 priced bottles of bubbly. The guys and gals at GIA are doing big things, I cant wait to see what comes out of the kitchen next.Boom, reviewed!
MoreHad a wonderful small wedding reception in a private room at Gias this past weekend. We came all the way from New Hampshire to see our daughter marry our son in law and had to find a venue that could accommodate up to 16 people. Eric worked with me over the phone and email to select the menu. He was VERY helpful and understanding. Emily our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. All in all, I was thoroughly impressed by the WHOLE experience, and the chicken confit was delicious. By the way, the pictures online do not do Gias justice. Simply lovely inside! Thank you again
MoreGia is always a good time and the brunch did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious as expected. Highly recommend.
MoreThird time here. First time for lunch. Came with my coworkers and we had a great time.I didn’t realize they closed midday but they still took our 1:45 reservation and we didn’t feel rushed at all. That speaks volume!I’ll be sure to be mindful of operating times going forward. The food was great and the drinks we lovely 👌🏽
MoreBrunch at GIA is fantastic. Weve done that twice and the food and drinks were on point. Stopped in for a late lunch today. Interesting take in a Ceasars salad using shaved Brussel sprouts instead of romaine lettuce. I added the salmon cake. It was okay. Would not order again though. Todays service just okay to. Love the bar. Best bourbon collection Ive seen in GSO.
MoreThis is the second time my wife and I have been here and we thoroughly enjoyed both times. The atmosphere is nice, the service is polite, and the food is really good. The first time I got a cauliflower crust flatbread that was so delicious and I intended to get that again, but they were out of cauliflower crust. I did get the brussel sprout Caesar salad, which is SO good, and the pork belly. My wife got the salmon and heirloom tomato and enjoyed both. Our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. I look forward to going back and hope next time they have cauliflower crust.
MoreI love GIA. I have now been for brunch, lunch, and dinner service and each experience has been great! Their cocktails are EXCELLENT. Their dinner style is more like shared small plates, while our lunches included a sandwich and a side. I also ordered a flatbread for takeout once and that experience was stellar as well! They let me place an order outside their typical order timeframe, which I was thankful for. They have specialty burgers on Fridays for lunch, we tried one today and it was great! Definitely will be back soon.
MoreWhy this place’s brunch rules.- Rosemary scones. Never tried a scone, but now I’m afraid I can’t live without them- Bacon board. I ton of crispy bacon served on a fancy board. How can you go wrong?Americano coffee - Taste just like the delicious coffee I had in Europe.- Our server Nate. Friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable on all the different aspects of the menu.Yes, this will be our new brunch spot for the foreseeable future.
MoreReally cool tapas restaurant in Greensboro. We recently went as a family and had a blast. The servers are very knowledgeable, the vibe is very cool. I really enjoy the open kitchen and the pizza oven. There are plenty of gluten free options. The flatbreads are out of this world.
MoreLove the place... really phenomenal food and service... will definitely try again...
MoreWow! Wonderful celebration at Gia! The cocktails were fun n and many gluten free options.
MoreMy husband has been dying to come here so we went for his birthday brunch. Vibe is chill, servers were nice, drinks were good but the food was not for my palate. It was simply not my cup of tea and I left hungry. I tried a variety of things but its a no for food, yes for drinks.
MoreFor my work, I do business lunches quiet often. Always had couple of places to go, but now I just found out that Gia is open for lunch on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.So we came to check it out... I was actually surprised with the variety of dishes they offer for lunch. As always, the Service was Outstanding and the Food was Amazing. We had the Compressed Pork Belly Sandwich and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Both were absolutely delicious, however the Pork Belly was out of this world! At lunch, plenty of parking spots. The prices are very good when you consider you are eating in one of the coolest restaurant with the best vibe of Greensboro. If you havent had lunch at Gia, you must try it, 100% recommended. We are definitely coming back!
MoreMy husband and I attended the Chefs Table experience Sept. 2020. We werent sure what exactly it was, but were very pleased. The servers were very knowledgeable and incredibly pleasant. Chef Anders and his team made extraordinary food. They were very careful and had substitution entrees for me because I am dairy free. The drinks they paired with each entree were great. I honestly cannot wait for another one.
MoreAmazing food and I loved the education included eith it! I attended the cocktail class and learned a lot of cool history.
MoreMy husband and I went on a date while visiting family in North Carolina. We found GIA thanks to Google Maps. It’s a nice bar & restaurant with an elegant, yet rustic atmosphere. I like that there is a balcony with outdoor seating. Looking out over the trees across the street was a pretty view. And the bar was really beautiful to look at. We had a few of their signature cocktails and split the full charcuterie board. Everything was delicious. The only thing I wish were different were the cheese offerings. The three cheeses offered were all hard. It would’ve been nice to have one soft cheese in the mix.Other than that, everything was great. Our server was super kind and helpful. Everything was really clean. We are still in the middle of the COVID pandemic, so we really appreciated that GIA made every effort possible to keep their customers and staff safe.My husband and I look forward to going back the next time we are in town.
Moremy friend and I went here June 7th for brunch. it was AMAZING! we got one dish from each section of the food menu. we also got mimosas with pomegranate juice. the bottles of sparking wine are half off on Sundays 😊!the food was great. our favorite dish was the smoked salmon. it was so tender and the cream cheese was so good too.the picture is of the Shatuku eggs (I think i spelled it rightand the chicken hash. these were good but not as great as the biscuits and jam and the scones 😫.Allison was a great server! Well be back!
MoreExcellent service and the food was delicious. Perfectly cooked. Half off mimosas on sunday brunch were amazing.
MoreWe came for drinks and appetizers. Great service and fantastic drinks. The grilled octopus was AMAZING! $$$$, recommend reservations, date night, special occasions or just wanting to spoil yourself.
MoreGetting to this place can be bit challenging if you are new... You have to follow signs for "Upper Level" to get to the restaurant parking. Highly recommend making reservations. Thumbs up to thought of having Chefs menu that changes monthly and it based on local ingredients.Loved the white bean risotto and also the cauliflower (where the Chef showcases three different way of cooking/serving cauliflowerand the texture of the margherita pizza/flat bread. Didnt like the fried asparagus.. it was a bit confusing on what the expected outcome was. Better half loved their cocktail concoction and I would have liked a bit more IPA choices on their beer menu.Service was good. Wish we have one like Gia in the triangle.
MoreGreat atmosphere and wonderful staff. Olivia is very attentive but also make you feel comfortable. She is very knowledgeable of the menu and she provided the best service! The food was amazing and great wine choices! We will definitely be back!
MoreTalented young chef offering amazing food found no where else around here. The bartender was friendly and attentive.
