Sushi & sashimi, plus cooked Japanese dishes such as udon & teriyaki, served in a simple setting.
The food was very good, The wait staff was friendly, but we had to ask & track them down to get utensils, something to drink, and they forgot to give me my appetizer but I did not want to track them down for another thing. I believe to be a great place to call and order and pick up but not dine in.
Excellent Sushi. Definitely fresh.
Quaint little sushi/Asian food place located in a town that is in desperate need of both cultural variety and healthy food options. Very nice hard-working staff. If they are busy, its still worth the wait. Way better than the local/typical cheese burger quesadilla option.
First time trying Fuji driving to Las Vegas on the back road. Had the best service from an awesome girl who was cooking and serving tables. She was busy but friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent (spicy chicken). Support family owned businesses like this before everything turns into boring chains. To the vegans who left a one star review below because they did not have a vegan menu - businesses are not obligated to cater to your needs. Go find a vegan restaurant, get over your self - entitlement and go f yourself.
very slow service. especially the sushi wait and everyone in there just stands around taking their time.
You will ALWAYS be greeted when walking into the restaurant, unlike most places their greeting is genuine and not bland. They wont rush you to order or huff-n-puff when youre looking at the menu. They wont talk negative about the customers while in the back. They dont have nasty attitudes like theyre miserable and dont want to be at work. The food is flavorful. Ive tried everything except the sushi. Stop by and give them a Konichiwa👋
We walked in yesterday. Two employees behind the front counter. We were not greeted or acknowledged in any way.We picked up a paper menu and looked it over.Nothing vegetarian or vegan in the place but a side of plain rice.I put back the menu and before turning to leave I said to the employee that we are vegan and there is nothing here for us. The person just looked at me like I was from another planet. I wish I was! Will never be going back. Everything was very expensive so even if the food is good, their customer service and pricing is trash.
Husband and wife are SUPER NICE and helpful. Chicken teriyaki (lunchvery tasty.Sushi was ok... fresh made was a plus.Small dining room. Beer. Dune in/Take outNo frills, nothing fancy.Good for a quick bite. 8 outta 10
Absolutely horribleOrdered a couple rolls and the tuna must have been sitting out for days because it smelt disgusting and the salmon didnt taste fresh at all probably the worst sushi i have ever had because store bought sushi is better, last time i eat dessert sushi🤮
Felt so good this place, like family owned so authentic and calm! Food was great! Thanks ✨
We love going to Fujis Restaurant, they always serve the most Delicious meals there. We always recommend Fujis to all our Friends & Family! WE LOVE FUJIS RESTAURANT IN 29PALMS California 🤙😉🌺🏝
Although the customer service was pleasant. The food quality was not so Much and the cleanliness of the restaurant was not up to par. There’s a giant A Posted in the window but that is completely misleading. We had 2 hairs in our sushi and one of the waitresses is also a cook, who sat us down and gave us our silverware wearing the dirtiest apron. I still appreciate the waitress we had because she definitely was polite and did her best to take care of us. Unfortunately we won’t be going back.
Fast and friendly with dine in available, I suggest if anyone is a shrimp lover please try the shrimp fried rice its super delicious 😋.
This tiny place was hidden in the wall behind construction cones when I visited it on a cool winter day. Chicken Katsu Curry did it for me. Near-stew consistency with veggies floating in magma of gravy underneath the crispy crust of katsu chicken was brilliant.
I don’t normally comment much but I believe I should this time cuz I just had the worst Japanese food experience ever in my life so far. The restaurant smells like traditional supermarket. The cook looks like Japanese(or Korean), but the dishes tastes like Americanized Japanese food. (I don’t even think they have ever tasted real Japanese food. The carrot’s skin was not pealed off, the bottom of broccoli was dark like they stored for many weeks. The curry was sooo wet like a soup tho at least it tastes like curry. Chicken in overall was okay but it was seasoned way too simply.. the shrimp haha… worst of the worst. Do not ever consider getting tempura shrimp or any shrimp added in there dishes. That is definitely not a tempura shrimp what the heck. The cabbage and bean sprouts were raw. Anyway, we only chose to eat here because there was nothing else to eat around here… so if u can’t find something else too like us, god bless you and expect to be disappointed.
First time eating there, very good food. Had the Beef teriyaki and Chicken teriyaki and the Chicken Fried rice. Yummy. Next time going to try some Sushi!! Ok its been 8 months and in that many months they went from an A to C grade. We ordered again tonite since I saw the A grade back...The Beef n Chicken Fried rice was terrible..Beef was tough as hell the chicken was horrible with the brown rice. The Egg Rolls were filled with grease and some veggies. Their version of Pot Stickers were cold or old not sure which. We are not going back ever again. I took back my 4 star and gave them none. But it wont let me post my review.
It is a good place for authentic food. The waitress was personable and sweet. Order early it gets busy.
Fuji Restaurant, at 73603 Twentynine Palms Highway in Twentynine Palms, was inspected Sept. 28 in response to a complaint about unsanitary conditions. It received a grade of 77/C with one critical violation. The owner didn’t wash hands, and when told to, washed incorrectly, twice. Among the 13 other violations, imitation crab was at an unsafe temperature in a cooler that wasn’t keeping cold, cooked rice was sitting out at room temperature, a large container of raw cabbage was sitting on the floor across from the cook line, and surfaces throughout the kitchen were heavily soiled with grease, food debris and “black, viscous matter.” The restaurant has now received B or C grades on five consecutive inspections, and seven of eight conducted since 2018, records show.
If you are a Door Dasher, you will wait FOREVER to pick up an order from here. On top of that, the restaurant interior is always filthy, humid, and plagued with flies everywhere. Lastly, there needs to be more staff in order to meet the demands of the customers in this area.
Just tried here again after a few years. Ordered the spicy chicken and the beef and I’m disappointed. They have changed cooks or recipes since then. The meat in both barely had any flavor. 4 stars for friendly quick service.
I wanted some sushi really bad so I went inside to order some food. I looked up at the ceiling and notice all the dirt then it was thick grime on some wires. I was so disappointed because post coronavirus this place was my go to. I had to cancel my order and I just left. ☹️
Used doordash to place my delivery order.I ordered a roll, katsu chicken combo (comes with soup and saladand shrimp tempura. All came out to $41.Its not the best to say the least. Lived out here for 5 years. Sorry to say this is the first ans last time I try this place. Dont waste your money
This was some of the best food and sushi we could find out here! Definitely going to be ordering from here from now on. The wait was a-little long but completely worth it!!
$17 for 2 cali rolls. It honestly tasted like gas station sushi. No taste or flavor. The only thing that was true and tasted good was the ginger but it was warm not cold. Very disappointed in this place. What made it worse was that there was a coach roach in the restroom and only made me feel uncomfortable about this place even more. I trusted the ratings! For those who love sushi and are coming to visit Joshua tree do not go here. Better off getting Jack n the box tacos.
been here 4 times, never disappointed. the rice surrounding the sushi is so fresh all the time. and the deluxe eel roll is to die for i love the sweet sauce.
They were definitely busy and looking for help. The gentleman was very kind and the food was a hit with my son and his girlfriend. We will go again. Well worth the wait.
I’ve been there multiple times and every time I go it gets worse. I ordered over the phone and the lady said “20-25 mins.” Which is normal so I show up and the dude that owns the place didn’t even start making the sushi and the nice lady at the register is trying to tell him it’s been 30 mins sense ive called and all he does is tells her to go away and he remains in the dinning room on his phone while people are waiting on there food. That’s a terrible way to treat your employees and customers!
Took a while to get food. The hand roll and veggie roll were good, and they were accommodating to make them without egg and krabmeat for us. We also ordered kim bop but did not know it comes with sauce (was not mentioned in the menu). Although it looked good unfortunately we could not try it:( (sauce looked like mayo based and we can’t have mayo).
I wish I could give this place zero stars. I ordered $50 of food and every dish was bad. The Spider roll and California roll both smelt awful, and both tasted rancid! The tonkatsu was extremely dry and bland. My brother and I still tried to eat it (we did spend $50 dollars after all), and neither one of us could finish the food. We both ended up getting sick :( NEVER RETURNING HERE
So happy to have found this place. Awesome food and excellent service. The owners are very friendly. I can highly recommend the Teriyaki Chicken and Shrimp Fried Rice. We will definitely be back.
Ordered for take out but waited an hour and a half for my order of food that they still messed up. They didnt take part of my order. Prior to the completion of my order a family of four and a couple walked in for dine in service sat down and before my food was even made the cook took care of both of the other dine in tables. Priorities were all over the place. I also saw the lady cooking went from raw meat to veggies while she was cooking and didnt see her wash her hands once. Definitely will never go here again. I will drive to Aki Sushi in Yucca Valley everytime. Thank you for losing a customer.
I really liked that the stove is at the front. We sat at the little bar waiting for our takeout and I could see our food being cooked. The sushi was delicious and chicken yakisoba was good. The portion was large and worth the money.
Disappointing food quality and a dull atmosphere. Why they include ketchup with shrimp tempura is beyond me. We were the only ones there and the waiter still managed to forget about us for about 15 minutes. Nothing about this place says quality.
I have always had a great experience here. The staff are very respectful and aim to please. They also have a couple of off menu items that are each unique and great. This is a true hidden gem in twentynine palms.
This restaurant used to be a decent place to eat but no longer. The sushi rolls were truly awful. The ginger was briny not pickled. The restrooms were disgusting. To make it even worse,. Bad C&W music playing too loud.
The food is good. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I ordered stir fried rice and expecting vegetables with my rice, it looked like all they did was add soy sauce to white rice and charged more. Next time I go there, I will make sure to tell them the rice with vegetables.
Certainly the worst experience of service Ive had in a long time. The restaurant only has six tables total and still it seemed the server forgot about us. We were at the restaurant for a about three hours and at least two of that was waiting to order after being seated and waiting for the food after we finally ordered. My wife and I ordered sushi. The food was good but when we left we were still considering getting something from Jack in the Box. The only upside to having terrible service is that we had a nice long conversation with our friends.
Loved it, not your usual place to go and find Korean food but yes you can. The owners now and of the past are Korean. Fuji is the only one of its kind in the high desert. A hole in the wall with very limited seating. Dont get frustrated at the service, chill out and take a deep breath. Call ahead and place your order. If you are in Joshua Tree, after a day of great climbs, take the short drive and enjoy some good food at Fuji.
Been a local favorite for over 15 years. Main staff are always great and friendly. Additional hires are hit or miss as with most places. Everything I have ever ordered from here has been satisfying. Not 5 stars due to limited seating, food wait times(mostly not badand restrooms are in need of a touch up.
Quiet, inexpensive restaurant on the side of the highway. Great place to eat if youre looking for something quick and delicious. The employees are all very friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend if you need a quick bite, or if youre looking for an affordable yet cozy dinner date.
One of those little spots that doesnt look like much, but they make good food. Also, their health grade is an A, so they are serving you clean food. I like it here. The owner is super nice. He makes the sushi himself, and he knows my face now, so he gets my order out pretty quick. I appreciate that local business feel and I just really like good sushi. Tip: try the edamame! Really good.
overcrowded and poor service. Waited almost an hour and wasnt served my food but others who came after my group were severed theres. All I ordered was sushi and it took them an hour to make it. Then when we tried to leave we were still being ignored when trying to pay. The cashier looked right at us and then proceeded to service everyone in line but us. Took 15 min. Just to pay. The food here is good but considering both times Ive ordered and actually gotten my food after a LONG wait its never been what I ordered but I still ate it and it was decent, but not worth the shity service. The only thing that keeps this place busy is all the boot Marines that go there to drink. I hope this place gets better or just closes .
I would give 0 stars if possible. My friend and I came in and each ordered 2 rolls and first they messed up the orders. Then 55 minutes later I got 1 roll and my friend got one that he didnt order. Then we asked how long it would take before we got our correct order and the worker said 10 more minutes so we left. And they still charged me 15 dollars for the one roll that took them an hour to give me. Horrible place. Horrible service. Poorly staffed. Cramped. No leg room
The people that work here are very friendly and kind especially the older man and woman (the owners, I assume). The food is good. A good place to eat in Twentynine. There can be a wait sometimes. I like to call my order in ahead of time. Also, sometimes they do delivery.
Run by both Japanese and Korean native so the food are authentic while adapted to US culture considering the portion!Friendly, polite and respectful people, advise anyone to stop here for the taste of Japanese and Korean food.
This place is not the best Japanese place for sure! However considering it location and everything else around this place is a welcoming addition to the town of Twentynine Palms! It tasted alright to me and no much if any other like this in area fish is farmed but still taste good!
Good: Didnt die of food poisoning (yet)Bad: ordered ahead and was told 20 minutes. Heard they usually are slow so arrived almost 40 minutes later. They hadnt even started my order. Was told to come back in 20 min. Came back in 30 and still had to wait about 10 minutes.Food was meh. Kids liked the fried rice. Sushi was ok. Curry was bleh. Not worth waiting over an hour and multiple trips for one order. Venue its self is almost gross. And I like holes in the wall, but this place just screams food inspection failure.
Lemme say i love the food here. Not only is it a nice breath of fresh air in the desert to have seafood but the freshness is definitely tasted and appreciated. The friendly staff always makes my visit pleasant and expeditious. Also coming from being stationed in Okinawa, this is the closest it get to Japan.... enjoy!!
Well usually Id not post reviews, but Im doing now.bast place too eat. I just ate this restaurant, I really enjoyable spent time :D also they make feel happy I will come back too eat a soon ! Thanks !
I have been coming here over 20 years and crave it when Im gone. I drove over an hour to get here... it is that good
