Visitors can tour a general store, school & church depicting local history since the 19th century.
Update to a previous review that ended up being deleted(?). Visited the Williston area on 17 September 2022. Google search, Facebook and city recommendations yielded the Frontier Museum as a place to visit. At the time of my search, two to three days prior to arriving in ND, there was NO visible indications that their tour season had ended, NO signage (per the owners responsethat indicated otherwise. When I arrived the second entrance was open (first property sign directed to second entranceand their was a group from Canada that were walking about. We were all confused about the area being closed down. Clearer signage and updates to search engines to include the city website, museum website and coordinating social media sites, would help visitors to steer clear during off season. Til next time to the museum and to my new found Canadian friends. Better luck next time, I guess.
Closed 11:00 on a Thursday, couldnt even walk around gate was shut.
Great place wonderful tour ,staff are super knowledgeable about local history.if your interested in the area and north Dakota history its a must see.if your a railroad enthusiast def go.added bonus theres bounce houses for the kids and great parking go visit its worth your time
Hours of operation need to be update more frequently.
It was closed for the season despite their hours listed online stating they were open.
A great little museum! Off the main path but well worth the short side trip. Museum comes with a great tour guide. I highly recommend this place!
An awesome place to go see! Loved it all especially, the judges home. Just gorgeous. I have two nieces that work there also. Alot more people should go and see this place, they would not regret it!!
I took my kids here while waiting for my boyfriend to get off hitch. The tour guide, I believe his name is Darren, was super friendly, amazing with my kids and full of knowledge and interesting facts. It is an awesome way to pass some time in a not so awesome town. I was very impressed and happy with our expierence! I highly recommend going if youre in Williston with some time to kill! Thank you again for an enjoyable afternoon and memories my kids and I will never forget!
Best kept secret in Williston! Run by volunteers, so call ahead if you are a large group (5+and they will do their best to have someone there to open up and guide you through it! Worth the fore-thought!BTW, If you just want to stop and peek through windows, be prepared to have someone stop by and ask what you are up to, as these buildings, grounds and items are treasured by MANY people.
Its always fun to go to this museum. Very relaxed and informational. A wonderful experience.
This place is a hidden gem. Tons of awesome things inside the historical buildings! Love the place. Very relaxed and not all uppity. It was clean, well put together, and you were never stuck behind a rope. You, quite literally, walk right in to history. Visited 9/25/15.
Door is open, but no one is here. Dead flies cover the floor. Not worth the drive out. :(
