Highly recommend this for anyone and everyone. Even if you are not a gluten free fanatic or vegan you wont be disappointed! It shows what amazing things can be done to our food in a creative way that is whole and healthy for our bodies!

Amazing plant based food!

It is such a treat to find an organic cafe. The food is delicious and the proprietor is a delight to talk with. Food is prepared with skill and devotion.

I ordered some tomato soup, cornbread, mousse, and apple donuts. Sent my husband to get the order. He came back with enchiladas, macaroni & cheese, and chili in addition to our order! The owner was so nice and welcoming! The enchiladas are pictured. They had a kick but we’re absolutely delicious!! I will for sure be back for more!!

Although you have to order a few days ahead for weekend pickup, the menu is always creative and changes which keeps things interesting. A fantastic place for individuals who have food based allergies or are vegans. Super friendly staff.

Best vegan food around the area!! Things are different now, you do have to pre-order and pick up on specific days....but remember this is a small family owned restaurant trying to recover from a major global pandemic like everyone else. This type of ordering garuntees no waste! And keeps this beautiful cafe in business! Support local!

I’ve been trying to try this place for months now, can never figure out their hours/ordering schedule. I don’t understand why it’s so complicated. I have called and the way they explain it makes it sound like a scam. Plus no website? I’m so confused. Is this not a restaurant/cafe?

I would love to have tried this place but unfortunately they are only open on Saturdays for pick up for orders made in advance by Thursday at noon. I want to be supportive but I didnt see that info anywhere. I went on their Facebook page and didnt see it also their website link is not working. I want to support small businesses but I drove up here because nothing stated their policy except for a sign on the door...

Delicious vegan options! So many choices with a rotating menu each week. The walnut chocolate cake is one of the best cakes I have eaten since becoming vegan.

I really want to like this place. I really do. The people are fantastic. Food is really not great. I’ve tried it multiple times and it doesn’t really have flavor. They are trying to be GF, vegan, and a bunch of other things, and it really limits what they can use for flavor. Disappointed.

Vegan cheese very flavorful and satisfying!!

Such a cute spot for dine in. I love thier food and I am not vegan. I especially love thier vegan deluxe grilled cheese. I dont know how they make thier vegan cheese but it is magical. My only complaint is that the meal isnt the most filling option. Also, thier vegan dessert options have never disappointed.

I wish this cafe was open on Sundays. Weekends is the only time I can get there with their hours. I have attempted to go there on 4 different occasions before being reminded its closed. I dont think Im the only one. I would prefer Mon/Tues closed to a weekend day.

Still Good, clean, organic, delicious plant based food. The juices and smoothies are divine and the quiche is fabulous! It is not cheap but neither is it expensive. It is fresh, clean, organic food. It is nourishing and healing to your body and beautifully presented.

A gem of a place. Truly fresh, delicious, quality food. This is not a fast service cafe. If you want food done right, you have to wait. And the wait is worth it. The smoothies are amazing. Best in the area! The sweet potatoe hash with avocado platter is delicious, cooked just right, preserving the true taste of ingredients, not masked by spices or sauce. Thanks, Kelley, for bringing fresh food to town. We keep coming back!

Some of the only REAL ORGANIC food youll find in Mundelein. Homemade by some of the best & professional staff. I always get the juice!

Absolutely amazing. Vegan, gluten-free. They even had vegan, gluten free mac and cheese, which was my favorite food. It looks like a little mom and pop family restaurant. The smoothies were awesome. Ill take all of my friends there.

I stopped here on a whim. This place is very cute and clean.The food:It took a long time for the food to come. Everything is prepared fresh so it makes sense. I just wasn’t expecting to wait that long. If you’re in a rush or need to be out quickly this isn’t the place to come. The food was tasty, and I enjoyed it. I would be interested in trying more items on their menu.The drinks:What made me want to come here was the drink selection. I was expecting a cold fresh juice. Instead, my juice was room temperature. That was a little disappointing after waiting I was essentially given a warm green juice. Other than that, the coffee was amazing! The make it using a French press.The service:Everyone here was very nice and friendly. I really enjoyed myself.

Visited Fresh Cafe for the first time and was really impressed....great tasting vegan, gluten-free comfort food.For anyone whos looking at the website, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of specials offered in addition to the standard menu.Some items where very creative and unique, like artichoke lemon soup -- yum!The homemade desserts also looked amazing; Ill be back to try several.Finally, the team was very friendly.Im excited to have found Fresh Cafe!

tl/dr summary: great food, great staff, long wait, often no seating.Food: 5 Stars - I go here for my comfort food. I highly suggest the mac & cheese AND the Grilled Cheese Deluxe with Bacon - all vegan <3. THe mushroom soup was also delicious.Service: 5 Stars - Always helpful, welcoming, and informative. Please know this going in: the food is worth the wait. They make everything per order, so sometimes youll wait a while. IT IS SO WORTH IT.Seating: 4 Stars - I love the atmosphere and the aesthetic, but with so few tables/chairs, each time I have been recently I end up on the couch or waiting for a seat. This not a huge problem, but as they get more popular (which I so hope they do, we need them to stay!), this will be tough.

I recently went here and I loved it. The staff were all friendly and the smoothie I got was delicious. I am not vegan but I do plan to come back to have The Iris smoothie again.

Portion sizes need to be bigger. Its good and healthy, but i dont like paying 30 dollars for a meal that i can eat in 7 bites

PROS:-We need more places like these that offer vegan and allergy friendly food,- The staff was nice and seemed to really enjoy their job and serving their customers-Its a very nice, well kept space that is inviting and a cool place to "chill"-Food was tasty-I had a Ruby Slipper juice which was really delicious, definitely my highlight which makes me think that juice and smoothies is their strong point.CONS:-Quite pricy- They put essential oils in their smoothies!!?? To avoid writing too much on here anyone can research the great controversy on ingesting essential oils. I think its best to err on the side of caution and NOT serve it to the public.-Their table book on the use of essential oils with animals includes and encourages their use with cats. Again- please research why cats should not be exposed to most essential oils.

Loved my experience here! The food was delicious, and the smoothie I had was also very very good! The staff members were very helpful and informative as well as asking for feedback from the meal. I had the Grilled Cheez Deluxe which came with chips, Mac n Cheez, and the Orange Juliana smoothie and I have no complaints! I cannot eat gluten and usually that makes me feel like a black sheep when I try to eat out. But today, it was sooo refreshing to look at a menu and be able to eat anything on it, especially in a smaller town such as Mundelein! Thank you!

I absolutely love these people! Ive never been disappointed with anything I have ever eaten from Fresh Café. The food is still good the next day!I attended their Thanksgiving dinner last week (pictures attachedand even though I am not a vegan, the food was so good that I wish they were doing the same meal for my family dinner this week.The people are awesome too! The family who owns and operates the restaurant have always been kind and seem to really believe in the vision that birthed Fresh Café.I will continue to frequent them as my vegan Café of choice for as long as I can imagine.

A little on the expensive side but the food is awesome and worth it- my daughter is vegan so to have a full vegan menu is phenomenal and so close to home.

If you are into eating this way, then this is your restaurant and it will be delicious for you! I personally didnt like the food choices, texture or taste. If I ate vegan than I know Id love this place.

Delicious food for those with food sensitivities this place takes the concerns away from the restaurant eating experience. You are paying for quality not quantity which is great because less food waste is great. The space is very inviting, clean and has a great area for little ones. I will recommend this to friends and family and will visit again

I’m not a vegan, or even vegetarian for that matter, but everything was delicious! Their grilled “cheez” and a cup of soup filled me up. Worth every penny.
