Frenchie Café - Restaurant in Curepipe, Mauritius
The setting is tranquil. The food is well presented and of good quality. The service was very slow on the day we went and we had to approach the waiter to get menus. He apologised for not assisting us and said he was on duty alone.
As a vegan I didnt expect much when I looked at the menu. But the one vegetarian option, a vegetable curry, was really excellent. With a few more choices for vegans, which the very friendly manager Christoph reassured us will be available soon, it would be five stars!
Nice food and welcome.
Always good service and excellent food. One of the best beef burgers
Great coffee shop and restaurantCoffee is very goodDesserts are also deliciousNice outdoor seating areaRecommended if you’re nearby
Great and welcoming staff, warm hideaway french cafe
Great food and service
Cute little restaurant tucked away from the main road. Friendly staff and nice food, would recommend it for lunch 👍🏻
Wonderful breakfast, well priced, very friendly
This has always been one of my favourite places to go for a meal in Mauritius. Friendly staff, beer on tap and very decent food. The steaks are normally awesome a d so are the burgers. Pricing is fair so you dont feel that you are getting ripped off like some other restaurants. Alcohol like most restaurants in Mauritius can be expensive so bring your own wine and pay corkage. Buy the large draft beers, best value for money.
Fillet steak was awesome 9/10Service 10/10
Delicious, tasty, juicy rotisserie roast chicken with thyme roasted potatoes as a takeaway for Saturday lunch. Well wrapped and packed and still warm when we arrived home. Great value at Rs600. Only a 4* as the potatoes werent crunchy at all.
A nice place with good atmosphere and very pleasant staff. We had evening drinks there and my only complaint was that the assortment of hot ‘snacks’ they served us felt and tasted like they were bought frozen and cooked in the oven. Nothing wrong with that of course but they weren’t cheap.
Cozy place & good food.
Great place to have a drink with good food and relax
Had an awesome time. Friendly staff tasty food and nice setting
Nice place, best service feel like home
Cozy place.. Cool ambiance and friendly staff👌❤️.. Delicious 😋 fresh food🤤❤️
Food was delicious ( Angus steak 😱)..Friendly staff, neat place and easy to locate..
The Burger is among the best in the region. A bit pricey but its worth it
Changed owners, feel tricked as still using old menus online and in the restaurant when multiple food choices arent available (but arent stated anywhere or by anyone until you ask to order itand nightly drinks specials arent either.Went 2 years ago and had an awesome time. Great snack plates, well made drinks and good vibe of an evening. Went last night (fri nightafter looking on their fb page and arrived earlier than our group as we wanted to participate in happy hour drinks as per their menus for viewing on Facebook. Told no happy hour, change in ownership a few months prior and theyre still rearranging things. Wt? Shouldve been our first alarm hell. Drinks took forever, like as in about 20 minutes for 2 drinks, food was slow. Waiter provided menus when our friends arrived and no mention of special plates though there was a board on the other side of the dining area.we arranged our meals but when ordering were advised most of the tapas were unavailable (only 3 could be chosen). It was laughable. As some people at the table were pescatarian, this left 1 choice for tapas and restricted our main choice so much that my husband and I ended up just sharing the one salad we could eat. The chilli cakes were the tiniest Ive ever seen, overcooked and had no chilli taste at all. Overall so disappointing. Cocktails just overly sweet, couldnt taste the alcohol in either the mojito passion or the Le Monet drinks.I feel the Venue is aware people would be using their still active Facebook page to see there specials like happy hours and their food menu and should be sharing the information so people can make an informed choice before they arrive. There were multiple points where we couldve been informed of the changes so we could go elsewhere for dinner but by the time we were told we were stuck because we had a child with us who had to eat too.Last time there, waste of money, try le bon chute, verandah tamarin, jade pavillion, kiosk or saline cafeteria instead. Actually just get some takeaway at London way and youll still be more satisfied.
Theres live music on week-ends, and the people are very welcoming. And when the food comes...Ah, people, the food!Memorable from starters to dessert, non-stop feasting and relishing on the flavourful and generous portions they serve! Youll feel compelled to go and congratulate the youngsters (yes!who cook and prepare these delicacies...Worth every effort you make to go to this place...
Nice and cosy place very quiet. The food is awesome but the price range is a bit expensive
Food was ok, friendly staff and nice ambiance
Great spot and food. Highly recommended.
Service slow, but beers cold and food priced right for what you get. Overall, average. I will be back when in the area.
Very slow... but I guess this is island culture. I was the only person in the restaurant and it took one hour to make one egg bacon and toast.
Nice place.Very friendly Service.The Food!!!
I really wanted to try real French croissants in Mauritius for my morning coffee. I visited this place in the morning, bought a croissant, but, it was not fresh. It was dry like it was cooked yesterday or the day before yesterday. I was dissapointed. At the supermarket on the Flic and Flac corner, the croissants are freshier, tastier and cheaper.
Lovely quaint restaurant with delicious foods. A wide variety of foods are available, catering for everyones needs.
During our 2 weeks stay in Mauritius my boyfriend and I were 3 times at Frenchies for dinner. Each time it was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive without being pushy or annoying. We always felt in good hands. Our food was excellent as well. Cooked to the point and very tasty. I had the Chicken and Prawn Cari (Mauritian word for curryas well as the Vegetables Cari and the Fish Cari - all of them delicious.Plus, it is a beautiful setting outdoors with a calming atmosphere. It was a pleasure and wed definitely recommend Frenchie.Note: Prices are rather European niveau but this is the case with most restaurants in Mauritius.
Nice place. The food is nice and the service was good. Try the burger! And the jackito! :)
Superb food and service was fantastic!!
Food was tasty but the service was very poor. No smiles at all on the day we came despite that being their big selling point on their signs when walking in. Waiter stood in one place when taking the order and therefore got it wrong no communication at all, a very different experience to all the other times we have been.
Waited for one hour for a burger which is overpriced. But tastewise it was good.
Cozy place with nice meals. Especially they have delicious snacks for "in between". Great carpaccio, nice french fries!
Not on the menu but a ti punch is certainly possible. Had a frenchees burger, which was very good. Sorry I ate it before I could show you. 😋
Food ok. Service very slow, one hour to receive food after ordering. Same goes for dessert.
What a nice surprise...tucked away but a beautiful gem to discover. Went on a quiet night and had a wonderful tuna dish, but will definitely be back for some live music!
The cocktails they serve are excellent. The food was of a high quality. Very pleasant experience.
Great food and service, really good price too, have been twice in recent days and impressed each time
Great rib eye steaks
Good food. Good people.
A great little find. Off a side road you wouldnt normally take, but the food was great and the atmosphere was nice and chilled. We liked it so much, we went back for lunch the next day. Good variety of food options and definitely somewhere wed come back to when we return to Mauritius for our next break.
Good food... nice service... Relaxed
The food was good and the price was affordable!
Great steak. Kids eat for free
Very beautiful dinner
Stopped for lunch - the coffee was excellent, the last cation was calm in a beautiful garden setting with really cool decor. The carpaccio salad was delicious and light but my partners creole selection was a touch over fried and therefore dry. I would come back for cocktails and tapas.
Decently priced, over rated and, in my personal opinion, and mine only I find the management very superficial. The menu is very limited as is the wine card. Generally for 10 Euro per person for the main course. Deserts over priced in comparison to main course.
