Plaza 25 de Mayo, Sucre, Bolivia, Tarabuco
Freedom House - National museum in Tarabuco, Bolivia
The reception guy didnt let me in because I didnt have the face mask. But 90% of the guests didnt have the mask and they were allowed to visit the museum. Shame on the people working there to treat tourists in such unfair way.
The guard told us there were English tours when there were not, and then they charged us more for being foreigners, for a tour we didnt understand.
Did have to wait for a while, so buy tickets in advance. You were totally immersed in history as the meeting to found the country was held here. Incredibly important history, highly recommend the visit.
Incredibly interesting and cool. Saw Declaration of Independence!!
A great museum with a lot of Bolivias history.
A must see if youre near the square.
🤩
Very interesting, instructive guide, you can feel the history in the place and ++ for putting forward often forgotten female and indigenous heroes.
The importance itself is huge, literally this place was where Bolivia foundation took place many years ago. Therefore every detail and symbols means a lot. My issue is related how the museum is not doing effort to explain how independence got acchieved, who were the founding fathers and how Sucre were important to achieve independence. This museum must improve those issues in order to explain how freedom was acchieved. Cash only, because pandemic there are non available stuff to show, the museum is expanding. Worth to visit if you love Bolivian history. Overall 6/10, I was expecting more :(
If you want to know the history of Bolivia, you should go to this casa!!! Our guide Andrea was super good!! She explained everything so well and clearly!!!
It is OK. A place of great historical significance but with a poor exhibit. Nice that they dont stick with the prevalent medieval prohibition of photos. Kudos for that!
Amazing museum about the history of Bolivia. Our tour guide was well versed on the history and historic facts. It was both interesting and a great learning opportunity. The guide mentioned that they will be expanding the museum since they were able to purchas the house next door, so 2021 will have more exhibition rooms. This is a must visit if you want to learn more about the history of Bolivia.
Informative museum.
An interesting worthwhile visit. The guides are full of excellent information about the history of Bolivia.
Best museum to understand the complex Bolivian political history. Yours are lead in Spanish, English and French.
Let me tell you we didn’t go inside, ticket is BOB15. But you should not be indifferent to this building since it is the birthplace of the country. The independence declaration was signed here, therefore it is remarkable for Bolivian and South America’s history. Beautifully kept colonial style building like all the others around Sucre.
To be honest, the history of Bolivian independence doesn’t get me excited. Nevertheless five stars for the beautiful building and its interiors.
Worth the visit, if you speak or understand even basic Spanish I suggest to take the visit in Spanish!
Go for the guided tour and youll learn a lot about the history of Bolivia. Building itself is nice, and some of the exhibits are interesting.
A nice museum right in the main Sucre plaza. Great place to learn about Bolivias struggle for independence and about its heroes in Simon Bolivar and Sucre. It was also cool to see the Bolivian constitution up close.
The true history of the freedom of Bolivia
Good guide in English!!! Very interesting and a very nice historic place.
La casa de la libertadYou could have tours in Spanish and English. Interesting place to learn about Bolivian history, colonial style.
We went on the french guided tour (included in the 15Bs of the entrance), the guide was awesome! The tour explain the story of bolivia and of some artefacts! I can only recommend to take a guided tour!
The most cultural place in Sucre. I was able to learn more about Bolivia history thanks to the amazing guide. Full of information and cultural key point of the country (and good guides included in the ticket price)
Entrance fee only 15B I visit at 3pm on Saturday there is english tour from musuem staff included. She is very smart and nice. A huge of historical information about Bolivia. Must visit this place, I recommended
The guides are not available all the time. The rest is really interesting.
No English translation but beautiful inside if you like history and culture.
15 bolivianos for foreigners and 10 for residents. Guided tours in English, French, Spanish and more.
Interesting place but you need to be with a guided tour to understand it otherwise it is just a random collection of more or less important historical objects.
We went to tje Museum in late December. Unfortunately, after paying for our tickets, we were told that there were no English language tours (and only 2 guides were working, and we believe it was Spanish tours only). The museum is in a famous and quite attractive building. There are a number of rooms showing art, contemporary furniture and pictures, but there are very few signs in any language The church hall is the focus point, but without better signage or a guide you dont get much out of it.
Great value for 15 bolivianos pp including a guide. English tour 3pm, well worth it. A very interesting place full of Bolivian history and lots to see.
Very interesting guided tour (included in the entrance feeto learn about the troubled history of Bolivia.
I definitely recommend coming for a quick visit. The museum offers guided tours, we were lucky to go through the entire museum with an English-speaking guide. It was very interesting to learn about the history of the creation of Bolivia.
Interesting building where Bolivian independence was declared. Impressing architecture and paintings inside.
Very informative, tour with a guide is 45 mins and gives a nice overview over the history of Bolivia
Fantastic place to visit and a must see when you’re in Sucre. The exposition tells the story about Bolivia’s (fight forindependence. In the main room you will find the original version of the “Decleration of independe” plus much more interesting artifacts. We had a tour with an English speaking guide who was able to share the story with a lot of detail which was very helpful in getting a better understanding of this country’s turbulent past.
There are free guided tours every hour (if i am not mistaken). Entrance is pretty cheap. It gives you a brief story of Spaniards arrival and other cities history. If you have a few days in Sucre, it is worth to see otherwise you wont miss much by skipping it.
We had an excellent guided tour, rich in anecdotes. Writings are only in spanish but there are great furnitures and deeply symbolic rooms.
If you come here make sure you join a tour! Otherwise it is mostly portraits of national leaders from the last few centuries with Spanish descriptions.Nobody told us about a tour when we came but fortunately we found one half way through our visit...
This has been the higlights of Sucre thus far. Definitely do the tour if you want to learn about Bolivian history particularly related to its independence. The guide was very knowledgeable and the tour is included with entry.
Had a great time on the English tour today learning about the birthplace of Bolivia. Our guide, Mary, was very knowledgable and answered many questions asked by the group. Amazing you can get up close to artefacts and paintings hundreds of years old, the Act of Independence and a copy of the constitution written in stone!
Entrance fee includes and excellent 1 hour tour in English of the museum that covers the colonial period up to modern history
Sucre is a beautiful place, and is the judicial branch of Bolivia. There are a lot of Spanish Colonial buildings. The city sits on top of the Andes Mountains.
The chapel was the meeting hall where Bolivian independence was declared on 25 May 1825. A must visit place.
Historical and a must visit place in Sucre. Not signs in English so a guided tour is highly recommended. Its included in the price. Having said that, they could do a much better job in presenting their struggle for independence.
Must see, features one of the two original Flags of Argentina. Hint: it looks different. Historic place since here the independence movement of all Latin America started. Not a coincidence the City now bears the name "Sucre" after Mariscal Sucre. Older names were La Plata (due to the silver from Potosíand Chuquisaca. It is actually the Capital but seat of government is La Paz since some civil war. Only once a, erm, year? There is one session maybe it was the installation of a new president only dont remember.
Great place to come to learn a little history about Bolivia and Sucre. Casa de la Libertad is an incredibly important building, the place where Bolivias declaration of independence was signed. The document is there, as well as other pieces from Bolivias revolutionary period. Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke great English.
It was great experience to know Bolivian history and appreciate art.
Great place to learn more about the history of Bolivia, Sucre and about the independence struggle. Wait for an English speaking guide and you will have better idea about this proud people who are very friendly.
