Frank Zappa Memorial - Sculpture in Naujamiestis, Lithuania
Frank Zappa Memorial in Naujamiestis
Description
The statue of Frank Zappa is hidden away behind a small parking lot, close to one of the more central streets in Vilnius. What is there to say? It is Frank Zappa. It is surprisingly tall, but aside from that, there is nothing much to it. There was a nice mural behind it though.
MoreGreat gift to Frank Zappa memory. ORIGINAL SCULPTURE.
Worth a visit if you like his music..
This is clearly the superior Frank Zappa statue (compared to Baltimores painful excuse for a Frank Zappa statue), I love Frank Zappa and Statues, so you can imagine how excited I am about visiting this!!! (Much more excited than visiting Baltimores painful excuse for a Frank Zappa statue)
MoreNot really sure what this is all about. Zappa was American. What the what?
Definitely a statue that is worth seeking out if you have time and if you are a fan of Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention!
Morenice statue of a great man, have look and a selfie :and listen to bobby brown :)
Quite simply the best memorial to Frank Zappa I have ever visited.
For hard core Zappa fans.
Great back story as to why the memorial nestles in a Vilnius side road (google it). And the phone call from Frank, that you can get by scanning the QR code at the foot of the memorial, is both funny and poignant.
MoreMost people dont bother scanning the QR code next to it... You get a phone call from zappa and can sit and listen to it.... And found time to google more about him and his music.
MoreZappa still lives here
Epic xd
Surreal monument to the maverick mercurial musician Frank Zappa in a nondescript location in Vilnius. Although he never visited the city or indeed Lithuania the monument to him serves as a symbol of the countrys newfound freedom in the early 1990s.
MoreVery nice bronze bust of the late Frank Zappa. Wish there was more information on why its there.
MoreVisited as we were walking back to Old Town after visiting street art of Frida Kahlo. Need to read about Zappa. Some street art around memorial. If short of time, spend time elsewhere.
MoreIts a nice place for a smoko
Ok
The benches have legs. XD
Zappa
Funny to been here
Lovely spot to sit and remember the unique prog rock genius.
The memorial is a little off the main road beside a residential parking lot. The story behind the memorial is interesting and worth a photo stop.
MorePretty cool, Frank Zappas head on a pole.
Wonderful but not enough information about him and why the radio station created this memorial to Frank Z
MoreQuite boring. Dont really get the hype of the memorial.. I think its just to trick the Zappanians to come to Vilnius. Even tho its a nice city to visit, this stop is not worth it.Nice details on the facial expressions. E for Effort!
MoreJust fun to see.
You should look up the story about why this statue is here and read it when you arrive. Frank Zappa has never been here and has absolutely no connection to this place. There is a nice, small park nearby.
MoreInteresting, but a little underwhelming.
Rembering a music icon
One of tourist attraction in Vilnius.
This is cool for the sheer madness of it! Frank Zappa had no connection with Lithuania and never visited!
MoreAll the other statues get grander placements than on the edge of a car park.
Serene experience- just me and Frank having lunch with the sound of the Rolling Stones emanating from an open apartment window close by.
MoreFirst eher 3D appearance. Completes the mental collection of 2D pictures in a nice way.
MoreFantastic to see Frank honoured in this manner, was the one thing that was a priority to visit.
MoreAt last I am here
Small and coolest square about Zappa.
A legend in a wonderful place
Good and quite place, nice graffity
One of the oldest graffiti spots in town creates nice ambient for the visitors
Its not a good idea to come here at night if you dont have a good camera because the statue is about 2,5m high (about 9 feet)
MoreNice speach man. Corny.
Its a bit of nothing. If youre walking past you may as well have look.
A bizarre memorial in Vilnius. However, it is a fittingly eccentric monument for such an odd figure in music. Not a must-see but its a funny addition to any site-seeing tour of Vilnius!
MoreWas a big fan of Zappa in my youth. So I had to visit this memorial. It is not big, but definitely significant.
MoreI guess this is very special for Zappa fans, but I didnt find it that interesting. But you could have a look when passing by it
MoreWhat can I say? Its the Frank Zappa memorial. It cant be bad)
A funny little statue. Stop by if youre in the area!
Must be Lithuanian blood?
