My girlfriend took us here on a weeknight, and it started out slow, but ended up being really fun. Absolutely loved it. The room used space and sound really well, and it never felt redundant or obvious, but never impossible. Isaac did a great job leading us when we got a little bit stuck and made it a very positive and suspenseful experience.

First time at Fox in a Box but it will definitely not be our last! Blake, our game master, was amazing from beginning to end. We did the Zodiac room and it was phenomenal! Clever puzzles. Amazing set. Little personal touches that made the experience! Check them out!

We did the prison escape room and it was very fun! I did it with a group of six people and we all were able to be engaged. It felt very real and scary sometimes. Our game master, Steven, was very kind and helpful when we needed it. Thank you Steven! This was my first ever escape room, but I would love to do it again.

Including this escape room I’ve done a total of 21 rooms and the Zodiac game was by far my favorite. Our game keeper Holly was so incredible, friendly, and fun! And at the end of the game we got these personalized post cards which made me love this location even more. My group and I cannot wait to try all the rooms 🤓

I have been to many escape rooms but this one has to be the best. Everything was done to its utmost and the entire experience was professional and fun. The room was set up perfectly and very creative with great props and challenges that really immersed you in the game. The challenges were also diverse in nature and skill which meant that everyone on our team had something to contribute. However, the best part of the game was easily the kindness, friendliness, and professional support of the staff, Will and Isabel. From the very beginning they were so fun and nice and their enthusiasm coaxed even our most shy teammates into jumping into character and getting involved. We are SO thankful for them and their personal touch. The nudges we received were perfectly thought out to guide us to the answers without ruining the thrill of getting to solve the problems for ourselves. Thank you Will and Isabel for making this escape room our best experience yet and thank you Fox in a Box for the amazing and immersive room designs!! 10/10 recommended to anyone looking for a fun time while in Chicago :)

Had a wonderful time here. Our game masters, Will and Isabel, did a great job setting things up and making sure our experience was great, even though we had the last game of the night. The Bunker was challenging, with a unique blend of mental and physical challenges that ensured you had to use all parts of your brain to escape, but also wasn’t obtuse or frustrating. Would definitely recommend, and I’ll definitely be back here at some point.

We had the best time breaking out of prison! Jo was an amazing game master! She made it super fun and added an element of theatre. We even received hand drawn postcards after. They were very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we were having a great time. We will definitely be back on our next trip!

Did the Zodiac killer room and it was so much fun! Definitely not for people who are claustrophobic or anxious, and they made sure to let you know all that before. My husband and I have done many escape rooms and this was one of our favorites, the puzzles were challenging without being annoying, the room had plenty of objects and red herrings to keep you busy. We finished with ONE minute left! We definitely needed help to get done since there was only two of us, but the hints were not too easy (unless we askedand they were all in theme. There was only one puzzle I feel like we wouldn’t have been able to get without help, but in hindsight, the clues were there. They require masks and if you are from out of state, proof of vaccination. The time slots are pretty limited so book early.

Our group had a lot of fun with the bank heist room. Chris went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, as he shows patience and friendliness while we did the room. The facilities were clean and organized, while the people working there were super passionate about their jobs.

We loved Fox in a Box and will definitely be back! Zodiac was perfect for one half who loves puzzles and the other half who loves murder stories. Medium difficulty, definitely needed a few hints, though we were playing with just two people. Johanna was an awesome host, we want her for all our rooms!

Isabel was an amazing game master! We did the Prison room for my husband’s birthday and she made it so fun with her witty jokes as we went along. She let us try to figure things out on our own but was also so helpful when we needed hints. We had a blast! The room was just the right difficulty for the two of us, we made it out with 5 min to spare! She even made the cutest cards for us to take home :)This was my favorite experience doing an escape room by far, and mostly due to the awesome game master we had - Isabel. Can’t wait to go back!

We walked past the sign one day and kept saying we were going to try this place. Booked it randomly one night 2 hours before going and we had so much fun! Adam was our game master and he was absolutely great. Very personable and made the experience enjoyable. We even got cute little postcards at the end that he personalized to help us remember our time. Will definitely come back to do the other rooms!

Will, our game master, made this a really fun experience. It was 2 out of our 3 players first times in an escape room and I would most definitely come back and play again. The Bank room was challenging, exciting, and doable, but not too easy. At the end we got a picture with our stolen goods and collected hand drawn pictures Im assuming Will drew while we were escaping which was a very neat personal touch.

We had so much fun!!! From the booking process, to check in, to instructions on playing.....everything was a breeze! Steven was our guide and clue helper (we needed every clue he had to offer), and he was so friendly!! I would highly recommend this to players of all ages! We played the bank room, and will definitely go back to try another room. Thank You

I went to Fox in a Box last week with a couple of friends. We tried the Prison cell room and it was amazing. The entire experience was very different from other rooms I have tried and was so much fun! The puzzles were pretty intuitive and it was fun to go through them. The game master, Isaac was very helpful and knew exactly when to give clues. We definitely used up all of our clues! It was so much fun throughout the whole experience and we didnt notice the hour going by.One major advantage was that we got a private room for us which made us feel safer considering the pandemic. When we escaped the room, Isaac was waiting for us outside with cute personalized postcards which was the highlight! Would definitely recommend to everyone who likes escape rooms and want a more "immersive" experience. We will be back to try out all the other rooms!

This was my first escape room experience, and our game master Will made it a fantastic one. We attempted the bank heist and the puzzles were challenging but a lot of fun to solve, and Will did an amazing job of dropping in time to time to help us make it through. Im definitely intending on coming back!

We had a wonderful experience with our kids. We did the bunker challenge. Joana was our Master and she was awesome! She jumped in when we needed help. They were very responsive when we had questions. Definitely try any of the games. It’s a a fun way to spend with the family.

We had a great time in The Prison with Isabel!! There were moments where we were wasting our time in a certain area or had said something useful but dismissed it, and she made sure to give us minimal but helpful pushes. It was my preferred birthday activity and it was extremely worth it :This room in particular is very immersive and I love the emphasis on cooperation (dont want to give anything away). Cant wait to test my luck at the others!!

This was our best escape room experience! We did the zodiac room and were entertained from start to finish. Great story and creative clues. Holly was a great game master, never overstepping but was available to clue us if we asked for help. We would definitely go back and ask for Holly!

A great experience. We went there with a very moody 13 year old nephew, and he loved both the atmosphere and the puzzles. We had a lot of help from Will, who ran the room for use (we haven’t done many escape rooms previouslybut still managed to beat the clock (barely!). Completely worth it.

Came here super last minute and our group of 4 snagged the last game time for The Prison with game master Adam. Without spoiling anything the atmosphere from start to finish was awesome and a lot was really in part to Adams enthusiastic energy. The puzzles themselves were super engaging and incorporated some techniques Ive never seen before in other escape rooms Ive done. I will for sure come back to try the other rooms they have to offer!

What an amazing experience! I took my nephew and my children here for my nephew’s 13th birthday and they absolutely loved it! I was slightly worried it would be over their head but they were so excited and it certainly wasnt. The host Ben mightve accommodated our [younger] crowd with a few pointers 😉. Well worth it. The decor and clues were well thought out and felt very authentic. I highly recommend. We had a great time and will definitely visit again.

My group of four played the prison room on 07/09/2022. It was a lot of fun and Ben was enthusiastic! He made the experience very enjoyable. The reason for four stars instead of five is because my group completed something correctly but because of a technological issue, we wasted time trying to see what the problem was when it didnt have anything to do with us. Overall, fun experience! We made it out!

This was my second experience at the Fox In A Box location, and the Zodiac room was absolutely amazing. Very detailed, intricate puzzles and clue locations, and the overall design of the room and experience was exceptional. I have to give credit to Josh as Game Master for organizing in such a professional, clear, friendly, and purely outgoing way, and he deserves all the credit for hosting such a great game. Id recommend to anyone looking for an hour of fun that cant be had in any other way!

It says its the "#1 in the US", which at first glance seems hard to believe, but after two escape rooms here I dont doubt it. Super duper fun rooms, challenging puzzles, and a staff that really makes the immersion in the story feel real. The two rooms I did both had secret doors/extra rooms you unlocked that kept the element of novelty going for the entire hour. The props and the setup for the story are phenomenal, and the puzzles are really diverse. Happy to say we managed to escape!!

Excellent experience, first time doing an escape room and Ben made it a great one! Absolutely loved his Warburton impression as our "warden" for The Prison escape. The puzzles themselves were all creative without feeling "unfair" at any point, and definitely an experience Id like to repeat some time!

This review is a little late because I lost the card where our Game Master had written their name but now that Ive found it...I want to thank Steven for the amazing experience my friends and I had playing the Zodiac room. Right away from the start, the enthusiasm we were greeted with from Steven let us know that wed made a good choice of escape room company. The whole game was very fun and even though we wanted to do it on our own at first (and quickly failed because 10 minutes went by and we handt discovered anythingSteven was very graceful in helping us out when we finally gave up. HIGHLY recommend this experience.

Had an awesome experience here! Blake was the Game Master for my group and he did a fantastic job setting up the story and just making it feel immersive overall. Ive done multiple escape rooms in the past and I can confidently say that hes been the most attentive GM that Ive worked with. I did the Zodiac room and I appreciated the variety of puzzles - I can tell that they put a lot of effort into making the room. My friends and I went here because of the good reviews and it definitely lives up to the hype. Check it out if youre around!

Our game master, Isabel, was what made our experience here at Fox in a Box so memorable. It was our first time in an escape room, but she helped us overcome those worries and was super friendly throughout the whole thing. We did the prison escape room and used Bob’s Burger characters as our code names because of one of the episodes, and Isabel even drew the characters for us to customize the experience for us. COVID policies made us feel safe, the staff were very friendly and patient with us, and the prison escape room was very well done.Overall, we had an amazing time, and will definitely plan on coming back here again.

First time doing an escape room but after this one. I have a high standard. I couldn’t have had more fun and would highly recommend the room I did to any of my friends. It was some of the most fun I’ve had in a while and that also wouldn’t be possible without the staff on shift. Isaac who was our game master was great and really made it that much more of an experience. So thank you to Issac and Fox In A Box for a wonderful night and an experience I won’t forget.

Had a great time with my first escape room experience here! We did "The Prison", and Id highly recommend it. Our gamemaster Ben gave us a great mix of immersion, comedy ( great Patrick Warburton impression), and good guidance throughout. We needed just a couple hints, and he knew how to be pretty hands off until needed. If youre looking for something different and exciting to try with your friends, this is the place

We LOVED the prison escape room at Fox in a Box! Ben was an amazing Game Manager. He played a great prison warden and provided just enough info in the hints to nudge us in the right direction. The pacing was perfect thanks to his hints - we escaped the prison with just 22 second to spare! And we were all delighted to receive prison postcards with Ben’s clever and creative cartoons. We look forward to our next visit!

My family of 4, husband and 2 sons (13 and 15successfully robbed the bank of their diamonds. I have done a lot of escape rooms and this one was SO well done. I really wish we weren’t leaving tomorrow so I could do them all. Our game master, Will, was great and fun! And Will or whoever made our little cards for us is a total genius. I had never done an escape room before, so I was unsure what to expect. I like puzzles, but doing so with a friend (or a group of friendsis so much fun. We had a great host, Blake, who gave us clues when we asked (we tried not to ask too much), and he was very friendly and kind. I would do more of these rooms in a heartbeat!

Had a really great time at Fox in a Box. Very well organized game experience and the puzzles and clues were very fair yet still challenging. Our gamemaster, Will, was amazing and so friendly. He even wrote us little thank you notes with personalized drawings in the end which made us feel so special. They offered us water at the end of the game after we escaped. Holly, our Game Master, made our experience great! We were greeted at the stairs and escorted to the room. She was thorough in explaining safety, procedures, and what to expect. After we watched the safety video, she returned in character! She was dressed as a warden and had the attitude of a drill sergeant! So fun! My kids got such a kick out of that! The room had a lot of fun puzzles. We broke out of prison! (Even though we were overthinking the most basic thing that took us 10 mins 🤦🏻‍♀️😆)

My family went and played the bunker option and it was a blast. The employees were great. Joanna was our game master and drew us all great pictures of us while we played, which added the nicest touch. We’ve been to this Fox In a Box twice and enjoyed it both times.

This was my first escape room and it was AWESOME! I did the zodiac with three of my friends and we all had a great time. Plus, Steven really made our experience extra fun! He was attentive, kind, and enthusiastic! It really made all the difference. Highly recommend.

5 of us went as part of a birthday weekend celebration to do the Zodiac room!Isaac was an awesome game master! They explained things clearly, prepared us for the mission, and guided us at a comfortable pace when we requested clues. They even specialized my friends (and birthday gals!souvenir card with a cute, personalized picture!I enjoyed the quality of the room as well as how they give clues. The quality of the room we were in, the Zodiac, was great with more to it than just finding locks to open (I dont want to spoil anything so I wont give more away). I was very pleasantly surprised with the variety of engaging aspects to the puzzles and the room. Having a video screen with visual clues, a cool down period for opportunities for clue help, and an option for type of game play made us feel at ease for a good time.It was my first time at this particular escape room experience, though I have been to other escape rooms in different states. I will definitely go again and am I am already looking forward to returning for another escape room here! I definitely recommend!!!

This place more than earns all of these stellar reviews. Our team has done dozens of escape rooms around the country, and this has got to be one of the best. We showed up to try our hand at The Bank with game master Adam, who showed us such a spectacular time that we pleaded with the manager to let us stick around and try out The Bunker with game master Louis. Both of our game masters were witty and amiable, and were skilled at catering our experience to our style. Things like how many clues you want and when are very personal - we’ve had more than our share of game masters at other facilities that interjected too often, or had clearly walked away and left us to fend for ourselves. The rooms themselves are designed well and have clever puzzles with a clear trajectory. I highly recommend Fox in a Box!

Weve done almost 80 rooms and this one ranks as excellent! We did the Bank room, hosted by Adam, who was fun, hilarious, and the right amount of helpful. We booked Bank first because they said it was the hardest; it was a great challenge, but never felt obtuse or frustrating. We escaped and had so much fun that we booked a second room for an hour later. Our second room was Bunker, hosted by Louis, who was also so much fun. Now my team just has to make our way back to Chicago so we can do the other two rooms! I also really appreciated the easy online booking, ability to sign waivers in advance, ability to text instead of call, and their very clear and thorough covid policies.

Having been to MANY escape rooms this was by far one of my favorites. My boyfriend and I did Prison room which was so well thought out and fun! Ben, our Game master, was exceptional. He brought so much more to the table and made us feel completely immersed in the game/ room. He made our experience SO much better. This place is a must!

With a few helpful helpful hints from our awesome host Ryan, we were able to escape with just a few minutes to spare! The puzzles were very tricky and there were a couple of big surprise twists. No spoilers - but they integrated technology into the puzzles in ways that I definitely wasnt expecting. All around it was a fantastic experience.

Fun, different and cool all in one! The room felt real. Sound effects felt real. Clues & hints were well thought out. Challenged our brains for sure. Zach our host was awesome. She made the experience feel complete! Definitely going back to try out the other rooms.

My team and I did Fox in a box in Chicago and it was probably the highlight of our trip. Even though our reservation was at 8:40pm, our game master Ryan had the energy and enthusiasm as if it was early morning. We completed the Zodiac escape room with less than a minute to spare and the eeriness of the set definitely made it more fun. Although this was my first escape room, the puzzles weren’t too difficult and everything tied in together really nicely. Definitely recommend checking out fox in a box, and I would definitely try another room with them again!

Best escape room I’ve ever done and the most amazing game master! We did the Zodiac and from the moment it began to the surprises throughout - we had so much fun that we burned through an hour so quickly. Ryan had the perfect balance of dropping the subtlest nudges when we were spending too much time on the wrong area. We definitely used up our three hints. Ryan did a fantastic job ensuring we had a great time. Thank you!!!

Where to begin. My group did the Zodiac room and this location set it up really well. No spoilers but their overall design was intuitive while also having a good deal of surprises. The location itself is also awesome. Most of their rooms are in the basement of a multi-use office building, which sets the vibe real well. Also, shout out to Joanna, our guide/game lead, who was the absolute best! My recommendation, dont be afraid to ask for hints if you go, especially if your group is not veteran escape artists. Its worth it to experience the whole room IMO. Wish you luck!

This was my mother & I’s first escape room for my birthday — it was so much fun. We decided to take on the Zodiac escape room! Not only was the story / props / room set up & scenario on point. A LOT of kudos goes to our Game Master Steven! He made the experience very enjoyable! We decided we will surely be back for more as we escape the Zodiac with 1m 9s left on the clock! The Prison is next 😍 thank you again for making such an awesome night for us to have !

My group of 5 friends and I had a blast at Fox In A Box! The Prison room was a fun challenge, I dont think we stopped smiling the entire 56 minutes it took for us to escape. It was most of our first times doing an escape room, and game-masters Louis and Ben made sure that we didnt get too stuck on a puzzle or clue (we chose the "accommodating/hints given" version). They also were so funny and made this experience personalized and fun for everyone. Cannot recommend enough!

It was our first time in this escape room and Joanna made sure our experience was of highest excellence. Joanna welcomed us and played an amazing role as the officer (in relevance to the Prison room). We were greeted with kindness and the assistance provided during the game was ultimately interactive and integrative but at the same time, subtle, so it does not give away the entirety of the task. Overall, I am definitely coming back (already booked another room for next weekand am highly excited to complete all four of the rooms.
