52 Hopton St, London SE1 9JH, San Miguel Papasquiaro
Glass-fronted pub with a large, heated patio overlooking the River Thames and St Paul's.
A but expensive but come here for a great night view it the thames.Unlike other pubs this one feels much more modern. The burgers are pretty good.
The highlight of thi place is definitely the view! Its great to see London skyline throughout afternoon, sunset and dark to appreciate all the different lights effects.
Superb restaurant, visited many times and have a great memories!👍😁 Very nice atmosphere, great staff, good beer and perfect food, especially one of the best Fish and Chips I have ever tasted in the UK!✌️🍺🍔🥓🦪🍟 And finally the view is spectacular, contrast of Liverpool Street Towers and St. Pauls is just amazing!👏😉
Actually I dont know about the exact price level of the UK. But I think it is unrealistic that this food price is 18 GBP.
Ordered food had to pay for it first to find the prawns were off. Asked for vinegar and the management three times. Both arrived at the same time when we finished the other meals. Servers very poor and not interested in customer service. Gluten free menu very sparse. Will not be going back to this overpriced venue.
Very busy but good spot. Outside heating good selection of drinks. I would recommend for a private hire. Event days can be a lot busy. Nice spot in the evening after work with the views on the Thames. You can never get bored of those views.
Great pub! Friendly staff and great food!
Stopped in while walking from Waterloo Bridge to London Bridge. Good beer selection, very nice G&Ts and a great view. All 4 of us enjoyed it very much. Excellent bar/wait staff as well
Great place and have been several times previously however this time we decided to eat.Food took far too long to arrive, when it did it was stone cold. Sausages were burnt, mash was cold, fish was old, chips were rock hard.Upon asking for some salt and pepper I was directed to three different people then was told "Im busy, youll have to do without!"Not exactly a welcoming response! Would go again but for drinks only, and for those wishing to dine- bring your own salt and pepper!!
Nice big pub that overlooks the water. Decent Sunday roast and dessert except Sunday roast didn’t come out very hot. Came out almost room temperature. Other than that, good pub to hang out.
Ambient atmosphere indoors combined with the most splendid uninterrupted views of St.Pauls Cathedral and the City of London from the South Bank of the iconic River Thames! One of my favourite gems for a drink at a picturesque location in this city!
Great location especially in the warmer months when the sun shines on the outside seating. Good service from friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. Food is especially good and with generous portions is quite reasonable by London standards. Great views of the Thames which you can never tire of sitting and watching the world go by. Highly recommended for a place to go and lunch in the summer and overlook the river in all its glory....
Founders arms has long been a special place for me and is the pub I will invariably bring special guests or friends visiting London to. It is very well situated, has incredible views of South Bank, St Pauls, The Millenium Bridge and the Tate Modern and generally has very nice ambience. While the food is generally also pretty good, I have knocked off a star as the speed of the waiting staff is not the quickest, and hasnt been over the past few years that Ive returned to it. Its not so terrible as to ruin your experience, but if youre in a rush you may get served and be able to pay up quicker elsewhere. Still, its well worth the wait if you can spare the time!
Nice location and great riverside views. But the food is almost below average. We’ve had the burger and sriracha chicken thighs - both were edible but don’t taste great. So, would recommend going for a couple of drinks with friends but keep your hunger for some place else.
As other people have already said, its in the right place over looking the Thames. Food and drink maybe a little expensive, but thats to be expected because of where it is.There is just one fault I feel I must point out, and that is the disabled toilet, and the tiled flooring which I found very slippery, and not being very stable on my feet these days, I nearly fell over when my walking stick lost its grip and slid away. Luckily I was able to grab one of the rails and save myself from going down.I think it would be better if the tiles were taken up and replaced with non-slip covering, but apart from that it was perfect.
Great pub, fantastic riverside location, wonderful selection of well kept beers and really nice food. Thoroughly recommended. These photos were taken from my table outside the pub
Nice little pub on the river front, perfect for an after work drink with friends. App makes it easy to order and service was quick! No problem I’m finding a table facing the Thames when we went
The service is quick in this popular riverside pub, but in the summer every table outside usually seems to be reserved in the early evening. So I usually walk past however recently I had to meet people so I went inside. The beer was well kept, but the brutalist building design made it uncomfortable in the heatwave
Nice pub by the Thames. Cocktails are good.A lot of tables are pre booked in the evening and hard to get a table outside on a nice day unless early but the staff are friendly and helpful. Gets very busy as near to Blackfriars station and a handy spot for an after work drink.
Great service, friendly and pretty staff, nice panorama, good food, affordable prices
Management handled themselves very poorly and lost a loyal customer of three years. They removed me from a free table by adding a paper with a reservation while I was sitting at that table. That paper was in another table 5 min before which they removed for another walk in customer. There was plenty of room at the bar and other tables and standing outside. They could have created options for me and my friends and instead decided to kick us out.
Wonderful riverside view! And the bar staff are all very friendly & funny! The burgers are nice as well. The only thing that bothered us was the ppl standing beside the outdoor tables. It was nice sitting there with beer but we always found ppl left their empty glasses on our table and very quickly it becomes quite messy. The bar staff were too busy to clean them so we had to sit there with a dozen dirty glasses around.
The arms has an awkward seating situation without much clear direction but once seating and waiting for service the food was good. We had the share seafood platter, a burger, chicken salad, and a meat pie. All were good and the menu was reasonably price the facility was not the cleanest and I dont believe we are very picky either. Sticky tables and rough rest rooms.
I have been here multiple times, for drinks and now for a work lunch. Service is very polite and they are obviously working hard. The food was good pub lunch, I had buttermilk chicken sandwich and chips which was very tasty. Would definitely go back for a work lunch or just with friends.
Went on a sunday as a group of four. We all had drinks and Sunday roast. The food and the drinks were good. Nice service but be prepared to pay alot. Not overly expensive for central London but still quite pricey.
Loved this place! Had the best chicken and ham pie I’ve ever tasted. My husband had fish and it was so big it hung over each end of the plate. Friendly staff and good service and we ate on the outside terrace overlooking the Thames and St Paul’s Cathedral. Highly recommended for the amazing food
Venue is fantastic, especially on a sunny day and theres a great atmosphere. Unfortunately the food didnt match. My main was fine but Ive had better pies and the cheesecake dessert had a rubbery texture. So if just drinking and some bar snacks Id give it a 5 but less if dining also.
Nice vibe and great views.Beware: We had an outdoor terrace booking and they couldn’d guarantee chairs for the number of people in the booking, so we had to hunt them from other tables. The food is all right (though a bit priceyand the portions are big.
From the limited time we were there, 1 round of drinks🍹, Id say it was a cool place to get drinks. Really busy around 7pm on a Tuesday night. Had a double-shot of Jameson, and my wife had a martini 🍸. Sat outside to enjoy the 🌞
The main appeal here is clearly a table outside in the sun, given the wonderful views over the river. Make sure you get here early because in the prime location its certainly popular and there’s great service when you are settled. The large number of visitors are managed well, the prices are sensible considering the location and there’s just a great atmosphere. For a drink with friends it’s a great choice.
Went on a work dinner and despite the absolute mob of customers they did a great job of service. Food was very good too. Perfect spot along the river for a couple drinks on a nice evening.
Nice place to have a drink, located near the London Bridge Underground, and with a front view of the Thamesis, the staff is friendly, the pints have a standard price. They offer a large variety of beers, like Peroni, Estrella and Guinness. Pet friendly. The have a menu with the standard burgers.
We popped in on the spur of the moment and managed to get a seat outside overlooking the river Thames. The main courses are good. The starter snd desserts are okay, they need improvement. If you order mains and drinks you will enjoy. Great views. Busy pub. Our server was nice. You order via your phone.
We had a great meal with really nice views. The angus was delicious! They are also per friendly 👏🏽
Had a lovely drink by the river side, however after leaving realised that I had left my handbag. I was in luck however as the wonderful waitress Virginia found it and kept it safe behind the bar for me. All the staff were super friendly and reunited me with my lost bag.
first time visitor to this great pub with a wonderful bar team, stay here long enough and you will meet most of them. A stand out drink for me is the passion fruit martini its made absolutely perfectly, a Peroni and the Founders beef burger were just delicious. A shout out to the server with fabulous nails you werent wrong about the burger
Very busy but still found a table outside. Good selection of beers on tap and a cracking view to go with it. Couldve been a bit more on top of clearing tables but it was just after the lunch rush.
I had the most amazing passion fruit drink here and I totally forgot the name of it! I have to come back! Great place! If you made this drink please let me know what it is!
A lovely outdoor space overlooking the Thames and this alone earns them 5 stars. The service wasnt great- our particular waitress was quite surly. The bar food/snack menu leaves a lot to be desired however there are so many eateries around locally that you can enjoy drinks here and eat elsewhere. There were a few people who brought their dogs with them so the venue is dog friendly too
• A note on grades, a rate outwards from three stars. *Popular pub with draft and bottled beer and cocktails on the south bank of the Thames. Good views & efficient service.
Great food and drinks at a great location! Excellent, tasty roasts and good selection of beers and ales. You can walk in, no bookings, order via the app and all these by river Thames. Perfect for a beautiful day in central London.
Came here for a late lunch as it is one of the only pubs on the river in the spring sun.It has a wonderful location with outside seating in the sun and next to the river.Mid afternoon and virtually all the tables were taken. It was surprisingly easy to get both a drink and order our food, despite the numbers of customers, because of the numbers of service staff. They had a good selection of Youngs beers and food choice on their menu.We chose to have a seafood selection which wasn’t cheap but was for 2 and at £27 was cheaper per person than nearly all the other main dishes. The total cost was about £40 for 4 beers and 1 dish which is expectedly expensive, but you do pay for the position and service. Fully recommend
We visit this bar every time were in London. Great position, bustling and friendly staff. Not eat here yet but will try to in the future. Fantastic place to sit and have a drink whilst taking in the views.
You can see from my previous reviews that I am on the whole pretty positive about a place. Founders Arms today was legitimately taking the mick. They had sub par food and portions served today, I paid £16 for the amount of mussels pictured, and everyone elses food was very poor considering a considerable price point. They have lovely views and accessible alcohol but I would implore no one to bother eating here, there is a rugby match on but that does not excuse terrible food and portions. If you cant facilitate the food, dont have it available to order. Will not bother to be back, theres a coop just down the road you can buy some cans and snacks from and sit on the green infront of the tate modern. Do that instead
The view from the table looking towards St Pauls was great. The food delicious but expensive. I enjoyed the wine
Whats cool about the spot -When you overlook the Thames and have a drink with your friends and family, what else do you need for a good time in London. We totally loved this place. With a good variety of drinks and food, this pub is a good choice. Locality is a plus with a great view of St Pauls if you walk down a few mins. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Recommended. Will visit again. If you found my review useful, please do give it a 👍 and follow me on Google Maps for more useful tips around the world.
Loved this place. Great view of Thames. Friendly staff. Amazing food and drinks, quantity and quality. Definitely recommend this place and will go again. Recommend their Mac and cheese, and Filthy Fries.
Every time a good place to come, before visiting Tate modern museum. Great and simple food. And staff are everytime nicely. And this place have amazing view on millennium bridge! I recommend you ;)
Always a great place to visit for a drink or meal. Wonderful location which makes it generally very busy and difficult to find a seat. Patience and a watchful eye for seats about to become vacant pays dividends.London prices naturally but the view across the Thames makes it worth while what ever time of day it is. The atmosphere us friendly and easy going. With the train station next door its also useful for those wanting to travel south (like usafter a day out.
Easy table service via app.If youre male with a slight disability then you may well find the toilet a struggle up steep stairs. Use Radar key for accessible facilities next to the Ladies.Peanuts overpriced.Handy for the beach when the tide is out.
