Stadsgårdshamnen 22, 116 45 Stockholm, Sweden, Stockholm
Museum in brick-built, former customs house, presenting contemporary photography exhibition program.
Intriguing exhibits and a great place to just absorb quietly provoking thoughts they come at you...Excellent position of the building with great sights of Stockholm islands.
The art gallery is definitely a must-go-to and to our surprise the 5 course meals became a 9 course meal instead for the same price. The staff was amazing and the food tasted great!
No visit to Stockholm would be complete without going to Fotografiska. The exhibitions are always thought out and on point. The food is also amazing.
A few floors with different themes. Not all are that interesting. In Summer of 2022 it was pretty complicated to get there because of the construction site nearby.A great café with a great view.Tickets could be cheaper.
A place where you can find very impressive and wonderful portraits. The restaurant offers a very nice view. A must-visit place for tourists visiting Stockholm.
Fotografiska is the best art gallery in Stockholm. Its not cheap to visit, but the exhibitions and artists are always way above par, everything is impeccably curated, the building is outstanding and the location is spectacular. The views from the top-floor restaurant are unbeatable. Highly recommend.
Iconic museum for photography in the world! Unique scent of the museum was so good. Take a look at the restaurant on the top floor.
Definitely a 10 out of 10.Great, interesting and very well curated exhibitions.I really appreciated how they combined different types of media in the art installations.Would highly recommend it, but make sure to buy the tickets in advance / online (its cheaper). And most important advice: Bring some time! I spent nearly 3 hours there and it could have been even longer.
Great place to visit in Stockholm! The space is original and the photo exhibitions are very well selected and arranged artfully. A lot of really nice touches. Nice bar outside and don’t miss the top floor cafe with a spectacular city view. Great place just to hang out and people watch after the show. You can go by a boat taxi for a reasonable price. Worth it!
Never disappointing!! They always have good photo exhibition. A pity that the poster which we use to by for each exhibition we visit was soldout and could not be bought online either
Absolutely amazing! The museum was filled with great photographs and had 2 floors so it wasn’t overwhelming to see everything. The exhibitions were very well organized. The museum also had an entrance floor lunch area with a very nice scenic view as well as a roof floor. Loved the building and the atmosphere of the interior as well as the view. Definitely worth a visit. The shop was also amazing with so many books and posters to buy.
Wonderful museum of photography with a lean towards celebrity based work to draw attendance. Pricey, but worth the visit.
So the exhibition and shop was fine, the view was great but I think the bar and restaurant was a tad bit overpriced even for Stockholm standards. Maybe it’s the price for the view but nothing special served there. If you have time and money to spend go for the bar and restaurant, if not just see the exhibition, it’s definitely worth it.
I had a wonderful experience in this museum. I was looking forward to seeing the NFTs exhibition and luckily it rose up to my expectations. The same refers to the photographs. The way they exhibit photographs is an absolute perfection (lighting, colours of the walls etc). I did not use their bar or restaurant, I was there just for the art.One downside is that with the massive building project ongoing on Slussen the whole area is like one huge building site. There should be more signs around showing the way to fotografiska and back to the metro station. I arrived at what later appeared to be the back of the building and I did not find any sign showing where the entrance is. Because of the works google maps often shows the wrong way around or it even showed me a non-existing bus stop to which I walked 15 minutes for nothing in the burning sun.
Caught the Terry ONeil and Andy Warhol exhibits at the Fotografiska. Fantastic art space, with the building right in the Södermalm Island. This is a treat, especially for photography fans.
Its a great place with small hidden gems. In the top floor is a cafe and pizzeria.A little pricey and not the greatest taste but also by far not a bad pizza overall. The windows are clean and huge and gives you a perfect view on the Stockholm harbor.Id consider this a secret spot not many people know about.
A lovely place filled with several art exhibitions. A contemporary art museum with a possibility to dine and buy along posters, books or other items related to the exhibitions.
One of the most beautiful museum I‘ve ever seen. O’Neill exposition magical and stunning. Super suggested
Nice photomuseum. Not too big, but very intresting. Easy to visit if you arrive by Viking Line. In the upstairs there was a nice looking restaurant
This was an incredible experience. The exhibition was very inspiring. There are so many images and installations that I would have loved to take home with me. Definitely worth checking out. Next time I’m in Stockholm I will make sure to come again.
Great place to visit in Stockholmyou would most likely get lost in the fascinating and intriguing photos. One of the renowned photography museums in the Stockholm.Nice bar outside and don’t miss the top floor cafe with a great city view.
Interesting exhibits, no doubt. But hardly the number one thing to see in Stockholm. Seems like a place which is cool but not terribly worth the visit
Loved the Terry ONeil exhibition and the first ever physical NFT exhibition was very intriguing. The veranda is very inviting for a drink and some food in the summer sun!
Some great pieces in a beautifully designed gallery, however, it did seem a little expensive for a pretty small space
Amazing gallery to visit 👌🏻👌🏻Beautiful and fun collections, both traditional and modern artwork. Interesting and education NFT exhibit as well as gorgeous print photography. The shop has a vast array of items to browse and buy for yourself or treat others.
Not a lot too look at, one floor was full of pictures by a single artist. Could have more variety and interactions or history about photography. Though the diner at the third floor is worth the visit
Impressive exhibitions from contemporary artists. Theres an exhibition for digital art and NFTs. A wonderful place to visit in Stockholm.
The most impressive museum I have ever been to (and I am not a big fan of museums): lighting, interior, atmosphere, art - everything. Theres photography, light-art, video art and all of it is in its finest form. Theres a restaurant at the final floor and its hipster. (Even toilets have towels instead of paper towels! The waiters will sit you, offer you to taste wine before they poor more, bring you a piece of bread... A high-class restaurant. The menu is small but great, as it should be. Small portions yet unexpected flavours. Zara Larsson approves this restaurant too. Its more than a museum, its an experience.
Amazing! Plant based food leading the way foe future..great ambience, great food, and afternoon well spend ! Will come back soon
I love this place! They always have different artists and experience! The view from de restaurant is 100% recommended!
One of my favourite art galleries in Europe. I went there to see Helmut Newtons photos in summer of 2013 and I still get goosebumps while recalling the exhibition, absolutely loved the experience.
One of the best galleries you can go to, always superb exhibitions, and fantastic views from the top floor.
The gallery was beautiful and had many pieces that were very thought provoking. I would have thought for some of the more graphic pictures there should be a warning before going into the room (although there could have been one in Swedish). The cafe upstairs is very trendy. I wouldnt recommend it for young children.
Very interesting and really beautifully thought out. A must-see museum when in Stockholm! We bought our tickets in advance, which I would recommend. You can even visit late at night (up until 23h00!).
Love this place. This is how the art gallery should be operating. The art here is vivid and everything is set up in a way that you can enjoy the pieces.
One of my favourite museums in Stockholm for sure, especially for photography enthusiasts like myself. The exhibits changes through the year, making the museum an attraction to visit multiple times a year. They also boast to have a great cafe and restaurant which I cannot comment much for I have yet to judge them for myself. Soon, maybe?
Both museum, personnel and the restaurant are amazing! Beautiful photographs and very very tasty food with amazing view ❤️
The photos exhibitions are amazing. The experience on the restaurant was interesting but isnt breathtaking or amazingly good. The good side was the wine menu that has the perfect combination with the served dishes. Beside that is just overpriced food.
Please remember to buy the tickets online in advance. The drop in price is about 50kr more expensive. Your feelings will mostly rely on the quality of exhibitions at the time you visit. For me, 2022 March is only three stars out of five. Maybe the expectation should not be too high.
A nice experience and a very nice exhibition with several artists. You need atleast 2-3 hours to see all the exhibition. About 7 minute walk from Slussen. They have exhibitions with different artists at different times. Definitely recommend buying the annual pass if you live in Stockholm.
One of the renowned photography museums in the port/Södermalm area of Stockholm. The museum was currently exhibiting 4 exhibitions which we took roughly an hour to go through. I really enjoyed the Pet Show exhibition.Make sure to check out the photo booth on Level 1.The museum also houses a Michelin star restaurant - unfortunately did not have a chance to experience it this time.
Awesome expositions. Not to miss when in Stockholm. The tickets are cheaper in the evening. They also have a cool bar and restaurant.
Very interesting place with unique exhibitions. Expect to spend at least 2 hours in there since you would most likely get lost in the fascinating and intriguing photos. The gift shop is also filled with interesting and fashionable memorabilia. However, it is a bit difficult to get there since there seems to be construction going on nearby so it is slightly inaccessible compared to the other museums. However, it is definitely worth visiting, especially at night since there are sometimes events going on. Crowds usually start to build up after lunch so if you want some time alone in the museum, it would be good to go early in the morning.
An unavoidable place upon arrival to Stockholm. With authors such as Helen Van Meene, Pixy Liao, Cooper & Gorfer, and the other wont miss it. The Pet Show is default subject of the exhibition at the Floor 1. A must see exhibition of photographers whom found a way to capture valuable moments on camera and presented it to public. Youll be thrilled with the results of their work. Personally, paintings and frescoes are archaic expressions of the past. A photography has become the main artistic tool of shaping the personality in particular lifetime cycle. And yet, it should become a mass medium of artistic expression, seen in each family. Every parent should become an artist catching a smile and satisfaction of his/her child and partner, or a pet. Truly inspirational moments, worth of seeing again.
It seemed to be a bit over hyped to us. We were looking forward to visiting and I somehow had the impression that there would be information on the history of photography, like a museum on the development of photography. I was totally wrong about that—this museum was simply three different exhibits featuring about four photographers’ works prominently in well-curated exhibits. The exhibitions rotate and there didn’t seem to be any permanent exhibitions that we could find. The museum is a bit smaller in scope than I anticipated looking at the building. We visited on Christmas Day and the price was 255 SEK per person, making it one of the most expensive museums during our visit. We enjoyed the museum and respected the work that went into each exhibition, but we were a little underwhelmed.
Love this museum! You must visit this place when you are in Stockholm! Very friendly staff at the restaurant on the top floor!! And of course the view from the restaurant is also fantastic!
Love to spend time at this place, either just to stroll and allow myself to get lost in random images, or to focus on fully taking in exhibitions. End the visit with food in the bistro or restaurant. A great place for family, friends, a date or a business lunch/dinner.
Great museum, including a great restaurant with an awesome view. The exposition (December 2021was various and inspiring. We loved it.
Its true - this museum is open until... 11pm! And surprisingly still busy when I visited at 10pm on a winter Sunday. Purchase tickets in advance online to save some $. Great selection of rotating galleries; particularly enjoyed the Pets exhibit. FYI, its a 10+-min walk to nearest bus stop; a bit of a remote location for Stockholm; so dress accordingly (i.e., warm clothesif youre not arriving by car!
This is a must do spot in Stockholm. I have been here twice to see the exhibits, and to enjoy a glass of wine and another time for brunch. Both times were excellent and one of my favourite memories of visiting the city. Photography exhibits are always a wide range of styles so that there’s something for everyone. Fotografiska is a relaxing spot in the city.
