Loved this area! Pula is very friendly and not too big or too touristy, at least when we were there in mid to late June.

Great little area to hang out in an old historic part of Pula. The temple of Augustus is here and several places to relax and have some food and drink and people watch. One of several areas in Pula to enjoy and observe ancient history

Unknown named italian style resto. To be absolutely avoided. Not only a cash only tourist trap, but also zero hygenia. Do not use their infectious looking toilet. The chicken tortellini was made of stinky meat. When we raised the issue, we received rejection and we were wrong. Left without touching. A disgrace in the city center.

This is the ancient square of this city in old town near the sea. There are Mayors office, tourist information point, a minor museum and lots of very good restaurant and coffee. This is very crowded during the day especially after 5, because people are eating there. I recommend to visit this square. If you dont like crowed you should go there in the morning.

The Temple of Augustus (Croatian: Augustov hram)[a] is a well-preserved[4] Roman temple in the city of Pula, Croatia (known in Roman times as Pola). Dedicated to the first Roman emperor, Augustus, it was probably built during the emperors lifetime at some point between 27 BC and his death in AD 14.[5] It was built on a podium with a tetrastyle prostyle porch of Corinthian columns and measures about 8 by 17.3 m (26 by 57 ft), and 14 m (46 fthigh.[6] The richly decorated frieze is similar to that of a somewhat larger and more recent temple, the Maison Carrée in Nîmes, France.[7] These two temples are considered the two best complete Roman monuments outside Italy.[8]

We love this part of Pula because it is special, because it is full of beautiful historic buildings and because the atmosphere is always, but always, extremely good. Piazza Foro has been the central town square since the founding of the Roman colony of Pole. The center of Roman cities consisted of forums dominated by temples and basilicas, and were the most important urban social space, a gathering place for citizens. The forum is located between the sea coast and the western slopes of the central city hill, on which Kaštel was later built. Its present appearance has been considerably altered, and only the Temple of Augustus bears witness to the squares ancient past. Originally, there were three temples on the Forum, the Temple of Augustus, the Temple of Diana, the Capitol and the Basilica, but today only one remains - the Temple of Augustus. It was built during the reign of Emperor Augustus between the ages of 4 and 14. The remains of the second temple are not visible today at all, while part of Dianas temple was used in the 13th century during the construction of the City Hall and can be seen from its rear. In addition to being religious, the Forum also served as an administrative center, with judicial and administrative offices. The tradition continued in the Middle Ages, when the City Hall was built, an excellent example of a mixture of architectural styles, primarily Romanesque and Renaissance, for the needs of the Venetian prince and providor. Today, the Forum is also a significant and lively space. Apart from being the seat of the administration, many guests gather here in catering facilities, but only during the summer, they are closed afterwards. Various concerts and other public performances are often held in the square.

Great square where you can enjoy coffee and historical ancient buildings. Some weekends in the morning there is also a car show which has some pretty cool vehicles to check out. The prices in general for the surrounding shops and cafes are extremely reasonable and you should not hesitate to have a coffee and a good conversation.
