Northgate St, Chester CH1 2BY, Runcorn
Low-key, glass-roofed arcade featuring local shops, a pharmacy, a cafe & a chip shop.
Pretty damn good :)
Only went in for B&M . American candy shop is ridiculously over priced.
Very good place to visit
Really shocked by how bad this place is. Not been here for years and today was lost for words more than half the shops are boarded up looks very tired
Shame this is going to be changing, few shops, but great eco friendly store, eyebrow place and budget stores. Leads to the indoor market which is moving soon, but the veg stall, fish stall and butchers are great. There are some fantastic food places in here that are open at night too with a number of bars and general seating areas. This is a great progression that enhances the stalls and brings more footfall through. This is definately the way forward for towns and cities in my opinion to bring life back to the centre of them. Definately recommend a visit day or night.Shame the indoor Market has moved, not sure what impact that will have on the few shops that are in the forum now. Beautonics is always good for getting your eyebrows done without having to make an appointment and reasonably priced.
Expensive but some nice shops
A good place to shop, but many stalls have not returned after the Pandemic. However a new shopping centre is being constructed in the vicinity
Just a quick visit on our way back to scot
Lots of little shops all the staff serving in them were warm & friendly and helpful.
Lacking variety of shops many empty and with out p exception only one or tw major brands A former shadow of its previous self Needs major investment looking run down
Due to the place due to knocked down its starting to look like a ghost town.
Same as the other B&M Stores good for essentials.
Didnt go in just went for the historical aspects of the city
It was my first time going here and it is a great place to go shopping
Lots more shops than I have near me, great opportunity to have different food and drink options.Parking can be a nightmare though and expensive.
Love Chester, just walking around, great for people watching ❤
Losing its charm. Its very sad to see so many empty units. Years passed this used to be a bustling shopping center. Now its a little dated and run down.
What can you say. A shopping mall , kept looking nice with various shops (not all big brand names either). As shopping malls go, quite pleasant. Has an undercover "market stall" area
An enjoyable experience. Whereas most markets are overwhelmingly fruit and veg, meat and fish and clothing, this had a good second hand book section, a variety of food outlets and an excellent off license.
I can never just go to one shop theres such a good mix of shops u always browse from books clothes perfume phones you name it the forum has it and people very friendly highly recommend a visit 👍👍👍
Great shopping centre very friendly welcoming people and staff nothing was too much trouble great places to shop eat and drink clean tidy place my second time here in recent months I love chester its a lovely safe place to shop and to do sight seeing loads to see do eat drink shop I be very happy to come here again
Great selection of permanent market traders. I visited primarily to go to "That Beer Place" which was an excellent craft beer bar and shop with quality craft beers from the UK and overseas.
Love Just Footprints, B&M and everything in the market is such good value for money. The plant place has gorgeous plants and i love the pet shop too. Owner is very knowledgeable and friendly gentleman.
Its run down and a lack of toilets, dont get cut short otherwise you might be in trouble. The toilets at the very back are very poor and take a deep breath of fresh air before using them.
Travelled a long way for the best Christmas Market in Cheshire! If thats the best, it would have been worth gambling to check out the worst. Most stalls were out of stock, totally sold out, or they were simply closed. I wont bother going here again. It was a complete waste of time!
Unfortunately I think this area needs some attention after the work has been done on the new market area. I think if BnM wasnt in there, or the entrance to the market... Noone would really go in. Its a cold and unwelcoming area really since maccies at the entrance went. Shame though as I have memories of walking through the bussling shops down there after hopping of the bus with my nan and having a look around all the places then stopping for a maccies before hitting the city centre. Maybe after the reno is done?
I used to live in Chester over 12 years ago. I see the forum has changed since then and lost its appeal. It may be as a result of Covid-19 but all the same its lost its sparkle and has no Va Va Voom.
We were walking through with our dog. We did not expect to take him into the shops. A security guard came up to us and said we had to leave. Maybe there is a sign saying no dogs, but didnt see it. I did see other people with dogs so they obviously didnt know either. Therefore unable to visit any shops!
Great little Christmas Market lm afraid little is what it is but the stalls are good and there is plenty of shopping in the city
Great indoor Market, in league with the old St.Johns Market in Liverpool back before it was refurbished. Plenty of shops and cafes (including Metal themed food and drink which I think is brilliantand a really interesting plant stall with a variety of unique looking plants/flowers. That topped with retro gaming stalls makes this a definite go to on a trip shopping around Chester.
A bit unfair to rate this on this my first visit. It was cold, crowded and the weather was awful. I can see its well worth a visit but under better conditions.
Old school market with lots of quirky little stores. A couple of amazing butchers, fantastic cheese shop amazing coffee beer and homemade bread, well worth a visit
Lovely place, thank you Council for the sensible car park fees, and not frightening people away, we will be back soon😊
Has a hand made leather belt stall called The Belt Man also sells bags & wallets. Bought myself an excellent top quality full grain saddle leather belt. Very happy with it. Will be buying more for Xmas presents.
Difficult one, the Forum is not good but the market is in the Forum and its great in here on a Fri and Sat night! Great atmosphere and the food and drink is well worth a visit....try the Thai and definitely "That Beer Place"
Fairly good. Gone down hill since covid but as has many places. Selection comes up short, when more shops open the better
Chesters old market hall is way past its best before date. Its getting demolished and rebuilt soon (no bad thing), but dont be put off by the exterior, there are some exceptional independent food retailers/restaurants inside.Go visit and buy your coffee and something to eat from the Market !!! You might be surprised in a very good way.
Love this place. The street food is amazing and the people who have the stalls are fantastic, pity most of them arent going in the new market.
Brilliant little market, lively bright and friendly, just like the good old days. Well worth a visit just to eat but bound to pull you in for a little wander and explore.
The Forum Shopping Centre is as dead as a dodo and needs putting out of its misery. Most of the positive reviews posted here are of the indoor market next door, which has its own listing on Google Maps, so dont be mislead into thinking this ghostly corridor is worth visiting!
Friday food at the market is on again. Theres a open courtyard with some shelter available in which you can enjoy your favourite market food stalls! Food stopped taking orders ar97nd 7pm
Forum shopping centre and Chester market. Full of wonderful friendly vendors. Highly recommend the market butchers and fresh fruit and veg stall and dont miss out on the cheese stall with a great variety of cheeses to choose from. Looking for an unusual outfit there is a fantastic fancy dress outlet. All of these places get to know you by name and offer a great service xx
Its sad that theres not much there nowadays. Obviously the entrance to the market but only a clothes shop, sweet shop and the odd strange store. With it being the entrance to the car park, youd think it would be a great place to have a shop especially with the footfall there. For distancing though, they have clearly marked walkways for people even if theyre not being followed as strictly as they should be.
Good range of shops, I prefer it at quieter times, it can get very busy, five stars if you dont mind crowds and noise. Very light and open in main central area. Has great play areas for kids and displays around Christmas. Access to all of Chester easy from here. Parking available, but pricey!!!
While there are several drinking and eating venues here there are several excellent stalls. Three proper butchers, a fruit and veg place, a gents hairdresser, a sweet shop, fishmonger; so forget your supermarket for meat, fish and veg. There are also a bookshop, vinyl record dealer, specialist leather goods, specialist cheese stall, a stall with pies, cooked meats on and off the bone, pickles, savvy ducks and cheeses. Fancy dress outlets, a couple of electrical shops, and more ! Well worth a visit
Its a shame because there is not a lot here now, quite a few empty shops,B&M,Boots only shops we use other than the Footprints shop (plastic freebrilliant, the way forward! Market is pretty good though.
The plan is for the Forum to close and be knocked down eventually as there are plans for the area to be regenerated. There are a number of shops empty now because of this. However, the market is situated here and has turned itself round incredibly over the past year, to the point where it has been named third best in the country. Well worth a visit, especially for all the independent food outlets there now.
First time Id been here for years, and it was slightly depressing. Many shop fronts boarded up, and a general sense of tattiness. The indoor market was still reasonably busy, although there is a disproportionate number of quick bite and coffee shop types of stall. On the positive side the stalls that were actually there for the purposes of selling produce looked professional and well kept, and the meats and other produce all looked good quality.
Nice clean place. Good market with plenty of full stalls which is a surprisingly endearing in this time. The shops are my type of shops. Cheap and full of stock. Also good place to sit down and rest for a few minutes. So many places don’t have seats anymore. Toilets there too. We didn’t use them but nice to know there are there. All in all a good place. Now is the McDonald’s shutting down or just being refitted? Because we have used that place far more than the larger one on the other road. I guess we will find out next time we are in town.
Come and check out the hand bag shop. Prices are amazing and the boy that works in it is smoking hot.
