Great historical site to visit in Uruguay. First built by the Portuguese in 1762 before being taken by the Spanish.Very well kept up and is located in a beautiful natinal park run by the military.

Excelente parada pra quem volta para o Brasil , que fica entre punta del leste e chui de onde estávamos voltando o local tem história...vale a pena conhecer vc tem que pagar o ingresso de 50 pesos fica aberto de terça a domingo.

Built in 1762 by Portugal and later on conquered and expanded by Spain in a forgotten yet strategic part of their empires and one of the oldest borders in the Americas. Is like going back in time and living in the XVIII century again!

Lugar histórico lindo, palco de muitas batalhas e disputas, muito bem preservado !!!

La entrada es gratuita, a pesar de ello prácticamente te obligan a pagar lo que claramente es un "Bono colaboración" voluntario. Un cartel indica Boletería y otro en la boletería marca "Precio de entrada" menores de 12 y mayores de 65 gratis pero es un engaño, siempre es gratis y el bono colaboración es voluntario. Y valdría la pena pagarlo si sirviese para una buena conservación, pero evidentemente está a cargo de personal no apto para conservacion patrimonial. Los muros han sido intervenidos con instalación de CCTV y hay tomacorrientes embutidos, las juntas entre piedras ha sido rellenada con una muy mala ejecución de morteros de cemento, la oficina de monitoreo (al lado de la cocinaha sido impermeabilizada con membrana aluminizada vista y el acceso a dicha azotea restringido con unos pilaretes improvisados sobre caños de PVC adosados a los muros patrimoniales que ademas soportan un tanque de plástico de agua que por estar a la vista se ha quemado por el sol. El Ministerio de Defensa cuenta con Arquitectos para conservar adecuadamente un edificio de este tipo.

Espectacular!!!!!! La fortaleza está cuidadosamente preservada y hermosa! Todo debidamente identificado además!Consejo: llevar agua porque tiene varias subidas y colinas dentro del fuerte que cansan un poco.

Local muito bem conservado. Vale a pena a visita. Edificações e peças de museu bem identificados e autoexplicativos. Belas vistas através das muralhas. Muita história preservada.

Una fortificación antigua que vale la pena visitar. Forma parte del Parque con el mismo nombre. Para visitar todo el parque sin andar a las apuradas se requiere más de un día, sobre todo porque hay que caminar si no se tiene vehículo.A tener en cuenta que se solicita vacunas contra covid, 2 dosis + 14 días.

Local bem legal para conhecer, para quem já está visitando o parque.

Hermoso lugar, un parque maravilloso.Sugiero colocar más papeleras , arreglar las calles están en muy mal estado, más baños y lugares donde lavarse las manos.cuidemos lo nuestro.

Local muito interessante, há uma taxa de 50 pesos para entrar. Lá há exposição de armas antigas, maquetes dos diferentes fortes do Uruguai, além da recriação de alguns ambientes como enfermaria, ferragem e cozinha com objetos de época.

Hermoso lugar para disfrutar y aprender en familia. Muy cuidado, limpio, con sombra donde puedes descansar luego o durante el recorrido.

Una hermosura de lugar, rico en historia de lo que allí pasó, más alla de eso es una pena que tanto milico al pedo no lo mantengan con detalles que son fácil de atender.....

Expectacular

Nice piece of history. Highly preserved. Explained nice and with archeologist pieces, cannons, high walls, worth a visit for the fortress itself, but mainly due to the eautiful national park. Clean partial asphalt other sandy roads. Beautiful wild animal area safari style which many of the animals walk freely between the visitors.

Wonderful park for camping e enjoying nature and the sea (there are plenty of beach along the park shores). Just fantastic!

An absolute must for those interested in Latin American history.

Great live museum. Very well kept

Restaured portuguese/spanish fortress from the 1700s. Currently a museum.Very accesible entry fee (less than USD 2).

Wonderful place to camp, trekking and surf. Best place to play with your kids! Good houses and shacks for rent.

Santa Teresa park is beautiful and totally worth the journey. If you have been to other fortress this one is not super impressive but if you are not on a tight budget and time is not an issue, i would still say it is worth it to check out. Though for back packers on a tight budget, the pary is %100 worth visiting, though you might skip the fortress or just check it out from the outside.

The fortress is still owned/run by the military. Small entrance fee. Well maintained. Plenty of information signs, all in Spanish. The views all around are a nice bonus.

Very nice green national park next to the ocean. We took a bus from Punta del Diablo bus terminal and walked all the way back alongside the beaches.

Amazing place, beautiful views, safe, definitely a place to stay and enjoy camping. I would give a better rating than 3 stars, however theres is only few bathrooms working properly, and those wich are open, usually are very dirty.

Its splendid, beautilful place that hasnt been known as much as the historic and esthetic value for the public. Therefore you can still enjoy this quite and really peaceful place so far.
