Fortress Kaštel - Historical landmark in Pula, Croatia
Very informative, but some parts were not in English. Already closed at 5 pm. Didnt gave a warning about the times beforehand. They just push you to the exit agressively. Very unfriendly staff.
Unbelievable abandoned fortress and you get great views climbing up to the top. I wouldnt take kids there...a bit dangerous.
Beautiful views of the city, 360 degrees, the Arena can be seen too, well kept with access to zerostrasse, so two fascinating historical things to experience
80 kn for ticket allowing to enter the castle, tower and underground shelter. 2-3 hours is enough to see it all.
Well worth a visit and the entrance fee - fantastic view of the city and its surroundings.
Absolutely worth seeing! The castle looks lovely and the tickets arent too pricey. You can also buy the zerostrasse ticket here and go to the tunnels. Dont miss out on the tunnel just underneath the castle though, it has some really cool fun facts about the history of Pula.
that the hills have a beautiful view of the bay and the city. the castle itself is nothing interesting but the views compensate for a lot
🏰
Beautiful fortress. It is an adventure to climb up to see it. Check also the museum if possible.
A must if you are visiting Pula ;even if the place is on a small hill the access is quite good, and you can also go by car , as there is a small parking place just across the fortress entry. If you go in the summer, in the peak season, try to go as early as possible as is getting quite hot and crowded .
Great panoramic views of Pula from this timeless fortified hilltop with layer upon layers of conquerors and history. They also throw social events and concerts there. If youre in Pula, take the 10 minute hike to the top!
Nice place to see the city of Pula. It is well preserved, although small, and at the time had some interesting exibits to add to better understanding of Pulas history.
Great place to visit. The views from the top are amazing. Also the WWI and WWII tunnels are really interesting
Nice view of Pula. Amphitheatre can be seen. Great chilling/reading spot. Easy and short walk to get up there
Well worth seeing if youre visiting Pula. Walk through the tunnels is nice and refreshing and theres an elevator thatll take you up to the castle.
Impressive fortress! Should visit when youre in the vicinity. Also included in the ticket when you visit ZeroStrasse
Fantastic, info in four languages, very interesting morning and easy to access almost all parts of the site. Fascinating history, thoughtfully curated.
Great place with bunch of historic information and cool paths through tunnels. Totally worth the ticket cost as you can also go to the castle directly via elevator in the tunnel. Beautiful panorama view from to of castle. Middle level in elevator also did through other part of tunnel which served as prison during world war.
Old fortress with small museum inside. Good view of city front walls. Also can visit tunels under fortress.
Nice views, but you can pass the fortress walls in a few minutes. It is really very hot here on a sunny summer day.
Beautiful view of the city and the sea.
Very Nice Castle
Amazing scenery. It’s a small steep walk but you can also enter from the Zero Strasse tunnels and take the elevator. You need to buy a family ticket for both the tunnel and castle. It was around €11. The tunnels are amazingly created and chill. Nice to hide during the summer.
You can enter the castle through the underground catacombs or through the traditional main gate above. The catacombs are very atmospheric, with contemporary pictures. The view from the castle is wonderful and you can see various exhibitions inside.
Its a really nice place for admiring the sunsent and the panoramic view of the city. Go there during sunset tims and we will not regret. Perfect place for smoking a joint
There was no castle museum at the time of my visit, just a small one from museum of castle pharmacy and unrelated gift shop. Walking around the castle is fun and provides amazing views of entire town. Best part was the system of WWII tunnels from the castle to 5 different parts of the town. You can re-enter the tunnels by using the same tunnel tickets. The tunnels are clean and cool which makes it a perfect shortcut for a hot summer day.
We arrived in Pula very early in the morning so the fortress was not open. We visited it outside. The view over the city is really nice.
A beautiful view of the city, red roofs and the sea. I advise you to come at sunset, the colors are incredible
Excellent view over the bay area of Pula and the Colosseum. The outdoor areas of this venetian fortress are freely accessible, if you want to go inside, there is an entrance fee. The museum describes the history of Pula from its ancient origins.
One of the highest spots in Pula and therefore providing a good view around the city. You can walk the outside if the fortress without going inside and still get a good view.
Nice views but nothing spectacular, waited to see more military stuff but there were almost none.
Popped in thinking it would show some historical facts. Inside the castle was little information other than the 360 tower we were out in 10 minutes. The tunnels were no better. Lacked quality information. Definitely not worth the money. No photos to share as I didnt take any . 😔😔😔
Beautiful view around the fortress to Pula and Arena.
Adult tickets (2022 June):Fortress Kastel 20knFortress Kastel + Zerostrasse 40knBeautiful view!
Worth to see.If You dont have time to go in- its still really worth it to go there to see beutifull view for the town and port. You can reach it with the car if You dont have time, energy or You just lazy 😉
Every now and then they host parties of various genres here. I was at a House party here on the 30th of April. Big spacious fort, great sound, lot of history between those walls. Would recommend looking into the events being hosted here. You wont be disappointed.
The view from the Castle extends to the whole of Pula. You can walk around the wall, take pictures with cannons, climb the tower, walk through history with the gallery of paintings in the museum. And finally take the elevator down to Zerostrasse. We definitely recommend.
Paid entrance of 70kn, the views from outside the castle are as good as inside + the view isn’t that great as you will see the port infrastructure behind the nice house rooftop of Pula… If you want to discover more about the culture and history on the castle, that would be the reason to pay for the fee.
Great attraction! It is worth paying for the tickets that include the tunnels. Nice views of the city and interesting information all around.
This is a fortress in the middle of old town up a steep hill. The entrance fee is 20 Kuna but you get almost nothing for it. There are a minor photo exibition and some old cannon inside but nothing more. This place is to be visited solely for its breathtaking views. You can take lifelong pictures of this city as you can see all around every part.
Beautiful views, about all of the Amphitheatre.Didnt have time to enjoy the museums, though, but they look like interesting. Next time!
You can climb up with an elevator from Zerostrasse. Amazing view of Pula Amfiteatar and port.
Nice view. That‘s it. No museum, no explanations. Not one plate. Museum shop was closed. Coffee bar was closed. Two stars as the entry is not expensive.
Cool view, probably will be closed if you come during the corona
The fortress currently only has one exhibit open due to construction, but it is free to visit. You can also walk around the perimeter which provides a nice view of the city.
Entrance for adults is 20Kn, Students 10Kn, Children 5Kn, view is great from there, free toilets are also located in the fortress.
A quiet nice place to relax and have an amazing panoramic view of Pula. Is the ideal place for coffee (but you have to bring it with youbefore your exploration of Pula.
A very strong grey stone forte on a hill in Pola city. The sightseeing is at 360° to the city. You can see the commercial haven and the turistic one, but also a Roman site just a few meters down. Here you can also find the entrance to Zerosstrasse, the underground street system of Pola. You have to pay to enter. Here is also the Naval Museum.I walked all around the exterior walls and enjoyed my visit here very much.
Great place to check out! Though most of the best parts are outside the walls and are accessible to the public whenever you like. You can walk around, over ruins and through what used to be a moat. There is also a ruin of a small Roman theatre next to it.To go inside is 20kn and its probably only the view from the tower that makes it worthwhile. The exhibits are few and theres nothing about the history of the castle/fortress and not much to see inside.
Amazing views of Pula and the harbour from here. If you leave by walk down the path at the back, you get to another ampitheatre!
