Mozambique, Pemba
Fortaleza de Sao Sebastao - Fortress in Pemba, Mozambique
With the right tour guide you can get a wide glimpse into Portuguese history. Remains of some strong walls and bits of subtle architecture techniques
Ruina
Convido as pessoas a visitarem
Lugares interessantes a serem visitados
Lovely History here, but disappointing about the condition of the outside of the property. Garden is not maintained and weeds all over.
For a UNESCO world heritage site, it should be much more well preserved, however its still a landmark and should definitely be visited. Pricing is well within reach (100 meticals for nationals and residents and 200 for foreigner tourists), be weary of local guides, they can be helpful and friendly but might try to scam.
InterestingWhere the story begins
Part of the history of Portugal and Mozambique. A place to visit while in Ilha de Moçambique.
Historic location.
Amazing historical location, hopefully they preserve it more in the future
Place is pretty big, not that many activities inside. They are renovating it.
Beautiful view
Unique place, on the most unique and amazing Island! Mythical, magical! Need to know its History to fully appreciate it! Visited two time, 1985, absolutely closed, and in 1991, abandoned, and only used by locals natives to collect water from the Cistern.
Nice
Interesting to visit, nice views. Would be nicer if it had some information boards or something around to give some background.
Needs some major TLC like has been done to the forts in Ghana. Still, its interesting. Over 20 canons from 1823. Pretty spooky in some rooms.
It was great! Ask for James for a tour guide! He was very knowledgeable and interesting!
Beautiful and unforgettable. Will definitely go back one day.
Wonderful piece of history, a must see if you are interested in discovering portuguese colonial heritage in Mozambique.
Great place, well preserved and beautiful to see both from the island and from the sea.
Fantastic
Rich in history, pity not much is happening. It needs to be given a new life and a new meaning. Lots of battles were fought in this place and no one is really telling the stories properly, there are reports of a 6 months siege!
Nice place,friendly guide
Good experience. Everyone needs to visit this nice historic place.
Really interesting and huge fortress. Unfortunately no authentic interiors left (part of it is in the museum). The fortress is victim of the tooth of time and thus youll find a lot of vegetation, which has its very own charm. Dont expect too many information from the tour guides but still they provide interesting facts. If you are on ilha, dont miss visiting the fortress but keep expectations not too high (:
Lugar degradado e não pelo tempo. Cheiro forte de urina e fezes humanas pelo lugar. Alta vegetação, maquete vandalizada. Nada para ver a não ser ruínas com odor de urina.
Its convenient
Lovely
Good place without universal acessibility..
Amazing place to visit, historical place
Every soul deserves to visit this spectacular sanctuary in a lifetime. With me, the entire escape was spiritual. The environment was tranquil and beautiful. The rich history for the place cant be said better without a proper sight visit. The locals are exceptionally friendly. So much that the entire place provides the ambiance of the weight it truly is. If you are a collector of art, their are very beautiful artifacts handmade at very reasonable prices. This is a visit of a lifetime.
A gripping and well preserved relic of Mozambiques past thats interesting to visit with friends and family.
nice.
Quiet piece of the past in a great location.
Not restored to the best shape but definitely worth seeing, along with the museum.
Loved the history surroinding the fort and Ilha do Mozambique
Interesting but mainly because there isnt anything else to see on the island.
The fort is Amazing. The tour guide was well informed. Sadly the state of things are going downhill and the area has fallen to neglect. But still a very nice walkthrough for the imaginative.
Fantastic to review our history.
Good
Good place but not accessible. Only outside view
Amazing place
100mts for locals 200mts for everyone else. The fort is impressive with lots of rooms and places inside to look at. The view from the top was amazing so take your camera. The tour guide was helpful and eager to answer questions.
Impressive
Ancient fortress, very beautiful
