Fortaleza San Fernando - Museum in San Pedro Sula, Honduras
Very interesting. Well maintained.
Thats a nice place to visit but I would expect more than the building, there almost nothing there, just a tiny museum
Nice!!
Nice place to visit and exploring about historical place.
Interesting, worth a visit if youre in the area
Maybe my favorite thing Ive done in Honduras. If you like history or museums, this is a must see. There was even someone on staff offering tours.
Great!
Great tourist place. Interesting history and a cool structure to explore. There are pretty trees and foliage and shade can be found throughout the property. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. Grab a coconut to enjoy after the walk around the fort to top off a nice experience
Excellent place with great history. The most exciting is walking around the Fortaleza walls. What I do not agree is that America was „discovered” because it existed before! For that reason the descriptions in museum are deeply colonialistic.
I think its a great place and peoples very nice the trip was well worth it
Historic place to visit in Omoa. A must visit in the area.
Great place to explore with the family. Love the museum a lot of history about Honduras.
Excellent place to be visited while In Honduras.
It is definitely worth hiring a tour guide. There is a lot of history behind the fort that it makes you want to learn more about the history of the fort. The tour is about 1 hour long. I would say record what the guide says, if you can, so you can go back and listen to it again once he is done with the history. You can stay there as long as you want so you can then enjoy the place.
This place is so full of history, culture. Entrance is 40L about $2.00. It includes access to the museum and the fortress. However there are some local guides that offer tours and provide detailed information about all the place and guide you through the entire site for 40L. The installations are well kept. Have been renovated in some parts to preserve the whole scheme. The entire place is clean and neat. Had a really nice experience learning about the history of it.
I had seen several Fortalezas ( The Philippines, Spain, Puerto Rico & Hondurasyou will see the true Spanish history of colonization. I strongly recommend this location
Nice
Make sure you lay on the sunblock thick!Beautiful green grass and trees are a wonderful contrast to the brick, stone, and coral construction.Aside from the cannons and cannonballs in the fort, there is a tiny museum where you can learn about the fort and see certain items up close (swords, anchors, cannon, etc).Great place for photos, with bright blue skies, bright green grass to contrast against your subjects of choice.
Beautiful historic place terrible group keeping and building preservation is a shame of how keeper management its letting that historic building/ and cemetery take over by vegetation theres a room full with bat dropping and no one is doing anything to clean it up and preserve that wing of the building graffiti on some areas and no cameras to catch and persecuted bandals
The fort remains almost intact and the beach it’s near.
Well kept Spaniard Fortress, short tour taken , interesting facts and history.
Beautiful! So much history!
Great place!! Very clean and not to crowded.
Beautiful place, awesome scenery.
This place looks amazing 👏 😍 Im really glad that i went there. Beautiful pictures i took ❤ Lugar muy hermoso me enamorè de omoa Honduras 🇭🇳 ♥
Wonderful place for the family, show our children the story
The staff are very friendly and professional. The area is clean and family friendly. Great place for a field trip or tourist to come and get a first look on how ancient past still roams the forts walls. I encourage anyone to come visit this beautiful place in Honduras, Omoa. Maybe you can find my mark. Good luck.
An ancient marvel in Honduras
This place has a lot to do with the story of Honduras, its an amazing experience and if have a chance to go, dont even think about it, just go and pay for the guy, so he can tell you a more detail information.
Historic and beautiful place.
I visited this place on a Tuesday with my boyfriend and my mom. We had a tour guide who made this trip 10X better. He was super knowledgeable and speaks English so my boyfriend could understand. His name is Isain Caballero. GRACIAS ISAIN!!
A good place to observe the past. Pirates enviromente? Recommended
Very good explanation of every detail of the fort
This was a great place to visit! Honduras is an excellent place to visit!
Intresting enough to pay a visit. The muesum area was not so good, it was minimal, only limited text was translated from Spanish to English(Spanish is the native tongue so I can not mark down the place for that). A few intresting artifacts, but not too many, and alot were kept in a large room with a glass wall you were able to peer into and no name tags available. Personally couldnt find any information regarding the battle of San Fernando but thst may have been in Spanish! The fort itself is in very good condition considering its age. Not too much actually going on inside the fort and the spaces within ans could be better used/propped for educational purposes. The gardens are kept in pristine condition.Quite a few people selling "souveniers", or tat if I was to use a better word nearby. Mainly generic Honduras items rather than the fort itself.$4 entry because I wasnt a local. 40HNL otherwise which I would say is worth it. $4 however, maybe not.Something to do to kill 1/1.5 hours, no regrets.
It was a good experience, in the main door you can get a tourist guide who explain perfect about history, architecture and also tell you about where you should take pictures to pic the best results. 😎
Great Historical landmark/site this Fort was built by slaves and served as a holding station for Gold under the Spanish Empire. One interesting fact is that coral is stronger that concrete of that period. So when visiting youll notice that coral is a main product in the construction of this Fort. NOTE: On the coat of arms statue, youll find a sheep bent over under the priest this sheep represents the slaves upon whos backs lay the burden of constructing this military fort.
Wonderful place to visit with family and spend a lovely time.
Historic place to know more about the spanish fortresses and colonization in the West Indies. The Museum should have more efficient staff and manage correctly their collection.
Its a very cultural place that you must visit to embrace Honduran culture and history. Even though I suggest that they should invest a little bit more of monetarism resources to the exhibition.
A real Majestic Fortess from Spanish
