Fort Klamath Museum - Museum in Klamath Falls, United States
Infested with flies. Stayed less than 2 minutes.
Very interesting place. Lots of information. Man on staff was very friendly. He had a lot to say and was enthusiastic. His delivery was scattered and hard to follow, and a bit loud, lol. Nice displays and signs. A lot of the artifacts were in boxes being packed to go to a different museum.
Very informative of the history. Glad I made the stop to get a little history lesson
Highly recommend stopping at this little museum if youre in the area. The man working there was very friendly and told us all about the history of the area. Very informative!
Pretty cool olde fort, the guide is dressed like a union soldier and has no problem telling you the history. Cool road side stop.
Gentlemen working the museum today was very enjoyable le to talk Oregon history.
Wow how cool!A little place that reminds of Fort Klamath not too far out from Klamath Falls, OR. The Museum employee was dressed up in old fashioned Military Uniform and was a well of information. Very interesting and worth a stop.
What a great guide. Full of knowledge and very friendly.
Great host with great knowledge. Enjoyed our time there. Thank you.
This is a little gem of Oregon history - a great place to learn about the role of the US Army in the early days of the state. The docent has a world of information to share as you browse Oregons past. Its a great "side quest" to add to a visit to Crater Lake.
This place is awesome, I appreciate the dedication and patience of everyone here not to mention friendliness. My family and I attended as part of my childs school field trip and everything was so organized even with 6 or so elementary schools visiting. The Presenters were patient with the children, they made it fun and educational looked to enjoy being there. I would definitely go back.
This museum and park showcases the history of Southern Oregon. It was an important center of defense, commerce and communications. Army troops stationed here were involved in skirmishes with the Modoc. Dioramas, photographs, and period artifacts are displayed in the museum. A short flat trail passes a grave site, jail, wagon, and post office. Perfect spot for reenactments and old timey photo shoots!
Very cool old Calvary fort location museum!
Very informative. Small museum with many historical object used by colonizer, soldiers and native people. The guide and host, dressed as a soldier, was extremely knowledgeable and works as a volunteer. A must stop for any traveler who wants to see and learn history of the land.
good little local museum and great mountain views
Cute quick little stop, friendly museum staff, very little for sure, still worth it to stretch your legs. Clean restrooms!Donation only, no fee.
It was closed after driving two hours. Web site said they were open.
Very interesting. Captain Jack and his cohorts are buried there. Many interesting artifacts on display.
Very interesting and the host was VERY FRIENDLY and KNOWLEDGABLE.
The caretaker was very informative and very kind.
Very interesting place. The gentleman working is super friendly and very knowledgeable.
This was an interesting historical site, well maintained and worth a tour.
Great little slice of history. Best part was learning about Captain Jack.
Helpful staff, good view, interesting museum. Doesnt take too long to go through but worth a stop.
I went to the heritage event that they had here a few months ago. It is a wonderful place to visit and learn some history of our community.
Very interesting unknown history. Very informative host.
Anyone traveling through the area should stop here, lots of history about this area.
Super cool old fort in a gorgeous setting with lots of local history south of Crater Lake. Visit replica post office, covered wagons and jail. Well curated museum with resources about the happenings back in the day. Great for kids to run around as well. No amenities. Bring snacks and beverages. Remote location.
Really nice place to learn some local history and get to know how the area came to be
Very quiet and peaceful place. Museum is very small but full of memorabilia. Summer has many living history events.
Very informative with plenty of great pictures.
Nicely displayed, informative and educational. I learned a lot, but I wish the curator could have kept his opinions about "environmentalists" to himself. He was a gentleman and obviously very knowledgeable about the white mans take on the series of events that historically took place in the region but he kind of spoiled the experience for me when he began spreading misinformation and hyperbole about wildlife in the region and current wildlife reintroduction projects. He is a valuable resource when it comes to local history, but dont attempt to engage him on wildlife issues!
Visited this place for the frontier days event. It was very educational and fun, I wish more people would participate.
Great learning experience.
Great history lesson
Great historical experience
Very interesting History here.
Closed in winter. Looks like a cool place though
Awesome history and artifacts! Took our grand daughter there and we all enjoyed reading and seeing the history & historical artifacts!
A nice little historical museum with a friendly staff (volunteer?). Free. Donations accepted.
I have to admit this I am the museum curator and I will do my utmost to give the history abou Fort Klamath as historically accurate as I can and to keep the history alive for everyone plus I will dress in the uniform of the time period too.
Great tribute to a little remembered episode in American history
Small, but interesting. Docent was super friendly and knowledgeable. Was really neat to learn the connection between an Alaskan glacier and Fort Klamath!
Only a museum there. But is interesting. Can have picknic there. Some times they have intertainment there.
The Annual Civil War Re-enactment at Fort Klamath, wife firing her first canon!
Fun place for family.
Great place to visit before going up mountain to CRATER LAKE. Calvert stationed here during Modoc Indian wars
Great little museum. Curators are very knowledgeable in local history.
I enjoy getting to know the history of the area we just moved to recently. So, Ft Klamath was on our list to visit. They held an event where members of the Cascades Civil War Society came and setup various displays, an encampment, and were doing cannon demonstrations. The museum is small, but fun to see what has been curated over the years. The more you talk with the volunteers, the more you will get from your visit. A great way to spend an afternoon and go back in time to understand what our ancestors were like and what they went through to settle in this country.
Quiet and super clean. Nice place to stop, take in some history, and a gorgeous view.
