Fort Duvernette - Castle in Kingstown Park, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Awesome!
Visit Fort duvernette for stunning views and the sunset. Not a hard climb up. Needs a taxi boat which can be hired
Go get high
Beautiful views and easy climb.Make sure you hire Kevin’s water taxi( you can find him near the pier - not far from the Mangoz restaurant).4 stars for the large amount of litter all over the place. Why no one is responsible for that is beyond me.
Fort Duvernette has beautiful views of St. Vincent and its surroundings. The hike is steep and lasts about 8-10 mins. There are some stops as you get closer to the summit, where you can take excellent pictures. The boat ride to the fort is one of the best experiences 👌
This is such a beautiful place to see.It is worth hiring a water taxi, where you go past Young Island. It is a steep climb, but the view is absolutely wonderful.
Excellent place to experience nature.
Beautiful fort… small climb to the top.
Boring.
Beautiful views. Nature unspoilt (for the most partSteps are a bit much if youre unfit but well worth it.
What a gorgeous place! A fun hike to the top but the best views are on the stairs along the way. You can see a gorgeous view of Young Island plus the mainland. Ask around at the Young Island docks for someone to drop you off and pick you up—Sparrow took us. For two people it should be about 30 EC. You can also jump off the little dock and into the clear blue water. Just a beautiful little island and a delightful experience.
Very easy hike with excellent views! Found a local fare to take us to the island m quick climb and the effort is very much worth it.Cool thing to do while youre in town!
View from the top is Amazing
Great views
It gives you such a beautiful view of the main land & quite an exercise to get that beautiful view but i love it in the end.
This is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Truly encapsulates what you imagine the Caribbean to be and the fort paints an incredible picture of history. What a hidden gem!!!
It’s an easy hop over by boat, probably 10 minutes. The water taxi will drop you off and come back to get you when you want. There are a lot stairs to get to the top but if you’re in decent shape it’ll be no problem. The view is definitely worth it. If you have someone in your group that can’t do stairs bring them anyway, there’s a great place to sit at the bottom and hang out. It’d be a great picnic spot too. Outstanding view. Also, bring your snorkel and mask, great snorkeling.
Historic site
This is definitely a place to really run from the daily hustle of life. The path is very much cleared just needs upkeep and a few repairs but other than that I enjoyed it.
Short trek up the stairs and fantastic views.
Historical site in St. Vincent. The climb up takes about 5 minutes. The views from the top are spectacular.
Worth a visit on a clear and sunny day. Not that difficult a climb. Water taxis along the shoreline should be able to take you over there for a fee. I travelled with Iroy and he was courteous, honest and helpful. Some renovation should be done on the arrival point and the hut at the top of the fort!
The steps are uneven so this isnt a great place to explore if you cannot climb stairs or get sea sick as you need to take a boat to get to the fort. The top has a beautiful view with a covered picnic table so bring a lunch. There are many cannons left from when the fort was in action. You can explore the island but be on the lookout because there are natural cacti all over the island but have been removed from the main path
Its was a beautiful experience
Great historic site...shame its deteriorating.
Its a short boat ride over from Villa wharf to the fort, the journey is very picturesque. Alot of steps before you reach the top but its worth the walk up those steps. Very nice and peaceful.
Very nice view
Cool experience going up this fort. New prepared for 255 stairs that are inconsistent is size and depth. It could use a bit more maintenance but in all worth the wonderful views. You can ask the front desk at Blue Lagoon for a shirt ferry ride over.
Beautiful rock with tiny fort and an awesome view.
A waterfall hike to see the country with Rich history
Its a really beautiful place to take ur family and spend the day on a family picnic
Worth the climb,SVG is such a beautiful paradise.
A beautiful place, rich in history with an exceptional view
Amazing Views
Great view
Great views of St. Vincent. Easy but long walk up windy stairs to the viewing deck. Need to access by boat, but if youre adventurous you can swim over from the west side of young island
It is a beautiful site and great view from on top where Canon are on bout side of this memorial site is.
Ask around the pier that connects the main island with Young Island to take the water taxi. After a 10-15 minute hike to the top, enjoy the views and the laid back atmosphere. Depending whether you want to take a swim, two to three hours should be more than enough.
Really amazing hike that has a beautiful veiw of the harbour, lagoon, and the nearby Grenadines. The fee wasnt great, but the hike was well worth the 255 massive steps.
Located on an island just a short boat ride away from mainland. Splendid views while ascending up to the fort. Wouldnt call it a fort though.
Dis fort is duvenrnette its been there forever and very beautiful place for a party and wen you get and the top you will seegrenadines lsland you can see bequis andmustique
This place is so nice a little get away from the main land... So calm nice view too
The feels I got after visiting Fort Duvernette was indescribable but left me feeling euphoric! This tiny island is only accessible via water taxi which you can hire near the boardwalk at the Leeward Highway. Immediately after arriving (if not beforea sense of excitement will engulf you. Trust me! It takes about 20 - 25 mins to get to the top ( thats of course if you stop to take a few pics). Once at the top, youll find the cannons and some breathtaking views. You dont want to miss this and wont ever regret it! Enjoy
Great place and the view is to die for.
Amazing... Breathtaking views
Swimming from the island to here is quite hard.
Cool location just some repairs are required.
Nice look out. Best done early morning or late afternoon as you need to hike up some steps.
Good adventure good view from the top
