The site of a 1754 French fort is marked by a granite outline in a grassy area in Point State Park.
Interesting fort history. There is lot of scope to make this place more attractive as lot of people are coming to see the beautiful fountain and river view
A good place to reflect and imagine French, British, colonial, and indigenous perspectives from the French and Indian War.
Nice little museum
Nice clean beautiful area
A beautiful and clean park with a gorgeous fountain. The gentle meeting point of three rivers in Pittsburgh. The park is very clean, green, and fresh.
Quiet place to take a walk
Very Good Place To Go If You Visit Pittsburgh. Only Bad Thing Is Parking.
Amazing views. Pittsburgh has so much to offer. Fireworks were pretty nice. Nice place to walk around.
Interesting fort history. Free to visit and walk around. Pleasant area.
What a nice historical place to view 3 rivers in the open air.
The Preservation of Fort Duquesne as a physical structure has been long since past, rather, youre left with a plaque in the center of a concrete outline that marks the area in which the walls once stood.Theres little information, to even note what youre looking at, to me, it looked like there might be lights or reflectors to lighten it at night time.Itll take some reading, and imagination, to truly grasp the idea of this French Fort once sitting in the center of this grassy point, but, its neat that theyve kept the area cleansed for memory purposes and its in what I would consider the nicest area in Pittsburgh, close enough to the historical walls of Fort Pitt, the block house, and an incredible fountain and river front.Come for the rest of what I mentioned, but, enjoy and dont forget to recollect and pay respects when you walk the outline.
Nice clean park on the edge of downtown. Space to spread out, great energy in the area. Love the history.
Excellent!! I love Colonial American History...
Lovely place, especially around Christmas time. Im one of the lucky ones to experience it all the time due to being on the river..
Who wouldn’t love this place! When the weather is nice I spend my lunch break over here and soak up the sun and the pretty views of Pittsburgh.
Once upon a time fort...It’s destroyed long back... now it’s a memory and part of history
Best views of downtown here. Plus the history of the area is pivotal to US History overall.
I mean, its literally a concrete outline on the grassy lawn. Take it as you wish, but the surrounding park especially near the waterfront is beautiful.
This is a lovely park, just steps away from downtown Pittsburgh. There are walking and biking paths, shady places to sit and enjoy the views and a vendor to buy drinks and snacks.
French had a great defense
This is a very nice area, especially in the summer for walking your dog or exercise during lunch breaks.
Found the landmark! Easy to get to. The park is even better. Parking on the street -so can be difficult.
Very nice location
Lovely harmony park
I like it
Fortnite
I thought this place has great energy. It’s the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers that starts the mighty Ohio River. It’s vastly a historical site with its ties to the very beginnings of the French and Indian War. It offers a great view of Pittsburgh and all its glory. Many walking paths that offer nice benches everywhere. Offers some stadium style seating along the rivers too.
Very nice place to go ❤️😍
Very cool park, great history.................................................................................................................................................................................................
Interesting history of early western Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh. Close to the historic Block House.
One of the "required" stops when visiting Pittsburgh.
wOw i had much fun here
Amazing I just got back from there to the place I live now this morning and it was a wonderful experience 😁 You need to check it out! 😱
Took my daughter here and rode rented bikes it was fun and reasonably priced.
Not much here except the outline of the old fort in the grass.
Check out the history blurbs placed about. Awesome a stuff!
Very historical and family friendly.
Amazing history lesson.
Beautiful historic area.
Best park in the city. Great historical location.
Fun and interesting.
Bear in mind there is absolutely no physical structure here, just a very large, empty, grassy field with trees on either side. There is absolutely no museum here either at the site of where Fort Duquesne once stood. There is only a large marker in the ground (see my pictureand the outline of the fort laid out in the middle of the field. The fort itself was destroyed by the French in 1758 before the advancing British General Forbes arrived. The closest museum is the Fort Pitt Museum, detailing the fort that was built just to the east after Fort Duquesne was razed, the founding of Pittsburgh, and the wars that enveloped the area afterwards.
This historical site offers more depth to the traditional colonial history of Pittsburgh. The location also provides a good launching point for more site seeing in the area.
Nice little historical site
A wonderful historical site and museum located in one of the nicest parks in Pittsburgh.
Right near the three rivers, quick historical stop while in Pittsburgh.
Nice slice of history.
An awesome place to learn about the history of Pittsburgh.
Fabulous to see where so much of our history took place.
A beautiful landmark along the Pittsburgh skyline!
