Food City - Restaurant in Bradford, United Kingdom
Overly expensive some of the food was horrible some of it qas quite nice. The steak was nice but the lamb chops were inedible.
Shocking place and service. Food not all that. Ordered lamb chops got meat chops not lamb chops. Lamb shank wasnt lamb shank. So basically avoidAsked for water told they dont give tap water only bottle water.Food was served cold the plates were hotter than the food. No wonder the place is not busy. It was my 1st and last time I go there. Cant tell who the workers are as they wore casual clothes I thought they were customers. lassi didnt taste like Lassi it was too watered down no taste at all. Also expensive for what the quality was..... AVOID AT ALL COST
ordered donner meat and chips. loads of oil under all food on plate couldnt eat it. had to wait for the place to open 30mins late. staff had to go get ingredients from off licence to make our food. very poor wont go again
The last time i came here the food was good. Last visit there was only my table and 2 others menu was different and the food was not nice at all. Wait time was ridiculous especially for a quiet place. The boss is arrogant clearly can’t take criticism. Never will I return here it has gone way down hill.
This was the worst experience we ever had and a waste of time and money. I am only doing this review so other Muslims canbe saved from wasting money. And protected from disappointed.
Been for 3 time in this place and for the third time the service was terrible and the lady was with bad attitude. We found hair in the nans and karahi wasnt fully cooked. We not be returning.
We walked in at 7pm on a half term holiday midweek. Place was not overly busy. But Hamza the waiter already told us they are short staffed and to bear with them.We didnt mind this as he forewarned us.After waiting 10 mins, he sat us down and took our order. Said all the food will arrive within 20-25 minutes which it did.Food was lovely and spot on. From the starters to the mains. They catered for my sons Nut Allergy as well (unlike Torrosand told us everything is freshly made and nothing is pre cooked etc.Mocktails are really nice as well.
Today I visit food city , the food was really delicious and nice .. plus the staff were also soo good .. and friendly .. and the services were great ...Plus the place is really nice .. for. Couples and plus families ..
Customer service was good, décor looks lavish in places and some areas worn down.Food was very standard quality, chicken wings seemed slightly off.Toilets need maintaining more frequently.Overall a satisfactory experience.
Food was horrid overcooked grilled food. The restaurant only had about 10ppl and we waited over an hour for food Most of our food was grilled so not sure why it took so long. God knows what would happen on a busy night. Music is sooo loud we could not even think. Actually had a headache and told the staff 3 times to turn music down. Spoke to the manager n he said the volume is up.so you can not hear ppl convo in the next booth,to my response I dine out alot and i have come out with my family not to earsdrop on the next table.I think the music was use for the sheesha garden too hence how loud it was. The staff could not even hear us when we called them due to the music. And there is a very young boy at the front who looks so lost It looks like a bunch of teenagers are trying to run the restaurant. Overall the restaurant decor is nice.
Rude staff with attitude problems. They hire underage kids for running a restaurant which they haven’t got any clue how to treat customer. Went there for shisha. First we order frsh juices which they taken the order and after 10 minutes guy came and said “machine is broken” I said ok we will have bottled drink. I ordered 4 drink which they provided 2 and the rest of 2 were run out. Now come to shisha we ordered 2 shishas and again forst they taken the order and after 15 minutes oh Sorry we dont have those flavours. Specifically the teenager girl was acting like a security guard. Please don’t go there and don’t waste your money and the time. Totally unprofessional staff.
The food took about half of an hour to arrive which was a rather irritating. When it did arrive however, it tasted decent but the the portions and the actual size of the food was very small. The may have been filling if only one person was eating, but for a family, it was appaling. The food was very expensive, averaging out to about £7.50-£9.50 for a main. Everytjing was expensive, the food wasnt filling and the customer service was okay. If were you to go on your own, then it might be not too bad, however, definetly would not go with family again. The atmosphere was good and the actual place looked genuinely incredible. I would only again if I was going by myself, or maybe only with one person. The food presented very professionally and looked 10/10.
We went in for a meal and waited more than 10mins with no acknowledgement. We then ended up walking out of this place. All that was required was someone to welcome us and prepare a table for us. Not going here again.
My friend wanted to try this place and I had never been and so we decided to try it out. I had a chicken burger with masala fries and the food was quite nice and reasonably priced. The chicken burger tasted similar to a Nando’s burger and the fries were nice with plenty of masala spice on them, I also tried a lamb sheesh kebab which was quite. The service was good and the only drawback was that they took cash only and i had to go to a nearby ATM to draw cash out.
Beautiful food with a unique dining experience topped with exceptional service. What more could you ask for. Highly recommended! Will definitely be back
Food not great, bland, dull looking food. Looks nice from outside once you step in its not clean. Carpet dirty sticky looks like its never been washed. Server was friendly and engaging, hence the 1 star. But service needs much improvement. Cocktails where the only thing thats was nice, hence the 2nd star.MUCH BETTER PLACES TO EAT IN BRADFORD.
Nice ambience. Food was nice followed by a good customer service. Mocktails were spot on and complimentary starter was great. Parmesans were perfectly cooked with steak fries. I didnt realise it was cash only as i had no cash on me, they kindly offered bacs payment, bless them. You Definitely need to try it if you have not been before.I will be going back in a few weeks.
Food is below average...but the customer service is the worse I have ever experienced...
The food was good, the presentation was great and the service was excellent. Hana, our server, was very attentive and pleasant. The mocktails were very tasty. Would go again.
I absolutely loved the food. The chef called shahid has a amazing sense of flavour and the food is always made to perfection. The service of the staff is great start to finish, specially Humza he makes sure you are taken care of from the minute you walk in through the door to the second you leave. Great service and prices for food. Have and will definitely continue recommending to friends and family! 😊
Absolute gem of a restaurant! We had the tasting world kitchen menu and it was absolutely delicious. Top quality ingredients and mouth watering combinations.Service was ok.Try Pasta and Fish Parmesan..Would highly recommend!
The food wasnt amazing, I would reccomend going elsewhere for food. However the interior is nice and aesthetic, its a shame the food didnt taste as good. The pasta was too creamy and we all left with bad stomach pains. The only good thing was the mocktails which had good flavour to them and were refreshing. They also have a shisha lounge.
One star is giving a lot, horrible service two waitresses of about 16 years holding the baby from the next table in their arms. When we went to order one of them in front of us, she said take the order, I dont like these customers ... waitresses with false nails, makeup, eyelash extensions and with hair in their faces (without ponytail). between them hugging in front of me and my husband drawing attention ... unfortunately we are experts and food tasters ....
Very disappointed, got starters were dry so were the curries. The naan wasnt a naan, the only thing that was good was the deal and drinks. I have been at food city may times before COVID-19 and its was extremely good. All I got was a sorry when I told the staff about how bad the food was.
BE CAREFUL OF THIS PLACE!Glasses came with lipstick on multiple times.Asked for a steak medium rare, came grey all the way through And was told this is because it’s done as a ‘rested medium rare’.Got a replacement reluctantly which was clearly made without a care in the world and tasted horrible and was like rubber. Worst steak I have had ever. When I spoke to the manager he responded I tasted your other steak nothing was wrong (surely COVID would mean not to eat my tasted foodand then for the second steak shruggged and said what do you want me to do!A lot of the starters and other mains were decent but I would never return due to the rudeness and complete lack of hygiene.Be careful!
I came for a meal yesterday with another 8 people in our group. We were told certain meals on the menu was off ...eg Pizza, Chicken. So the majority of us bought a burger of various descriptions. However, 2 of the party wanted cheesy nachos, when they arrived, the cheese was found to be the squirty kind, very artificial. When the waitress was told, who by the way was very polite, she said she could go and put some "real" cheese on it. We refused, just put "real" cheese on in the first place. Finally, when we came to pay our bill, only cash was accepted, which I find strange and intriguing in this day and age!
I am leaving 3 stars because the service was ok but when it comes to food the place is rubbish. I should have trusted the ratings read reviews before wasting money there. Prawns were like they are fresh out of sea, not cooked and steak was served with butter knifes and even with steak knives it was a mission to cut it. Food quality and standard is zero
Disgraceful service, after placing a booking to open fast the information given was to arrive 30-35 mins before so that our order could be processed and ready on time. We arrived at 8:15. Prior to coming we had planned on the menu what we would order and that we would stay for shisha after our meal. We arrived to tables that had not been set and an ‘iftari menu’ was placed in front of us. This menu was £20 per person included 3 courses and had a selection of around 7 mains to choose from. We were left until 8:30pm whilst the staff remained inside the restaurant walking around talking between themselves instead of taking orders of people waiting. When approached by the member of staff we explained that we were not made aware of the set menus when we had been the day before for shisha and asked about iftari bookings. She asked what off the menu we had planned on ordering to see if she could get it for us but told us that it wouldn’t be possible. We then explained that we do not eat enough to be able to finish the food on the menu if we ordered per head as they required and did not want to waste food especially in Ramadan. She said it would be fine for us to order one meal off the iftar menu between the two of us.At this point the table was still not set, none of the other customers tables around us were set and us nor anyone else had been provided with dates or water to open fast. At 8:45 the same member of staff returned to us to inform us that the manager had said we could not share one meal and we would have to order another. Iftar is at 8:47 so they had left us with 2 minutes to spare (still not provided anything to open fast withand then decided to tell us we would not be able to go ahead with our order. We requested to speak to the manager who then took a further few minutes to come and speak to us (he wasn’t busy as we watched him standing around before coming to ushe approached us and asked what the problem was. At this point we were ready to leave and extremely angry because fast had already opened and we had no drinks or food to open fast with but instead were being confronted by a manager trying to make us order more food. The manager knew exactly what the issue was and yet still left us to explain everything again. He told me that he did not like how I spoke to him and told me to leave and told my mum to continue explaining herself but every time she tried he would speak over her. He insisted that we order another meal and that if we didn’t want to we were more than welcome to leave. After explaining to him we are fasting and he should be ashamed of his behaviour for not allowing us to open our fast here because of his mistake we got up and started walking out, he then began telling us in a very condescending manner that we are more than welcome to open fast here!!!!Side note: during the confrontation with the manager he explained to us that he was checking the orders people had placed and saw that table number 7 had 1 order, he then called his member of staff and asked if there was one person sitting at table 7. When she said no, this is when he decided to send her back telling us we must order more.At no point did he apologise for their misinformation on multiple occasions. As a Muslim eating at another Muslims establishment this is disgraceful behaviour on his part.
Came back for breakfast Sehri, much better than previous visit, had full English, very nice, top service, sausages were a little blame but overall very niceDessert was OK, a little hard
We booked a table for a party of 12 today for our iftar, and unfortunately it was a very unsatisfactory experience.so after our initial order it took a good hour for our food to start arriving.however it was all lukewarm at best and not all our meals arrived together. some of our party was still waiting whilst the rest were finishing and even when their food arrived it too was cold. it was a shame because the food was decent tasting and would have been enjoyable warm. another point worth mentioning was that some starters which were meant to be included in my main course were missing.included in the iftar menu was dessert which took a good hour to arrive after our meal. during this time not a single used plate was removed from our table so when it did arrive there was nowhere to put them and we had to help the waiters clear the table before we could eat. and they were below par.i could go on but it was just a poor underwhelming experience . would not reccommend
Went today to food City- with my brothers family. Expecting a really good service & good food but service & food was a let down. Tasted better food than What we had today. & when one of the Staff Bought out our first plates they were all wet and a few marks on them they had to take them back and re-clean them Apart from that the Place was nice & that. Last but not least. This was our first time and it will be our last time.We got mango Lassie It was tasteful
After deep thought I am giving this restaurant 3stars. Visited this evening (20/9). The restaurant was nicely presented, nice prayer room and the food was spot on. But the waitresses were so miserable, not a single smile or any emotion whatsoever. I almost felt like I was in prison with them watching over me. They either need to smile a little bit more or being employed in the hospitality sector maybe not for them?
Walked in and booked a table at 6:55pm yesterday and they said it will be approx 1hr 30 mins. We eventually sat down at 9:10pm with no menus on the table, luckily we had already checked the menu online and knew what to order, after 15 mins of waiting we had to get a waiters attention to place my order. Starters and 2 mains with mocktails. Within 15mins one of the mains arrived and the mocktails. Had to ask for serviettes and cutlery. (This should’ve been put down without askingAfter a further 40mins the starters arrived and the 2nd mains which was pointless having starters mid way. Absolutely disappointed with the service provided, slow and just taking bookings when they cant cope properly. Was definitely not worth waiting for and wont be coming back to this place either. Pathetic! And its left me with nasty stomach pains
WORST RESTAURANT EVER!Waited over 2 hours for a table. Finally got a table and had to wait ages before someone took out order, even though we called for someone many times. The service was horrendous. The waitress seemed like she didnt want to be there and had a right attitude.Once food was ordered, we waited a long time again and got 1 of seven starters. No drinks yet! I had to ask again for drinks. They brought all the drinks, finally, but no glasses for the water. They then brought 2 more starters with 2 mains?!?!?! Still no glasses. Then some of the decoration, held up by cellotape fell on two guests. Still no more food or glasses. I spoke to the manager and he reassured me the food would be out. They brought the wrong food and 4 glasses, there were 7 of us!We left without eating out drinking. Service was non-existent throughout.STAY AWAY.... THEY WILL RUN YOUR EVENING!
Admittedly we’ve lost count of how many times we’ve visited Food City for Parties, Meetings, family meals and it has to be said it is the finest eatery not just in Bradford but the UK!The customer service is profound (especially Hamzaand every restaurant needs to learn from Food City. The food is fresh and hot with a lively atmosphere, making for an awesome time out. If the dishes below don’t persuade you enough, wait till you see the desserts!! ...(ok I’ve shown you two but I can’t give everything away now can I?😉Once visited, you won’t try anywhere else again!
Very nice service 1st time for us, loved the kindness, atmosphere was nice, deco great got some privacy in the booth which is great 👍 food was nice the Royal Thaal and Queen thal scrumptious. Most of all the young men were very polite, very hard working and worked on a extremely busy night absolutely flawless!!!! Will definitely go again! Hard to get happy people being lovely providing their services in the most busiest times, Well done kids were also very happy and thankful for your "excellent customer service".
Went to Food City on the 11th of August and the food took over 40 minutes to arrive. I thought it would be OK but my burger and onion rings were completely cold so I sent it back. They warmed it up so much that I burnt my tongue and couldnt take another bite. The drinks were overpriced as they cost £2.95 when they would normally be a pound. Terrible. Never going back.
Service was good. They where pretty quiet so we did get a lot of attention.Ordered a mixed variety of food. Took around 20 minutes to come to the table which was not too bad.Chicken variation was pretty good.Lamb chops were good.Steak was cooked perfectly, could have done with a bit more salt and pepper.Sweet potato fries were amazing.Lahori fish was good but I did find 4 bones on my second bite which put me off eating it further. This would be a 5* review how ever the bones in the fish let the place down. When you pay decent prices and food is that well presented you expect 0 amateur mistakes.
Went for the buffet and was a little reluctant after reading the reviews however the food was very nice and fresh and was topped up as soon it finished. The live noodle kitchen was great and the service was brilliant.Only thing was the deserts could be better for the kids. I had to order and pay for extra ice cream for the kids. Would definitely go back again.
Reason for 3 🌟:Was in for the buffet only.Decor was on point & the staff were friendly. No water was offered, as Im guessing they were trying to push their drink sales. Drinks were slightly pricey but not overly pricey. The buffet its self lacked umph!, The options were very limited & most of the food was slightly under seasoned. With it being a Asian run restaurant in the heart of a Asian area i was expecting some heat in the dishes, only to find they were very mild.Need to have more options or lower the price in my opinion. I wouldnt personally recommend the buffet.
Service initially was very good, attentive waitress who came over to give some suggestions as we hadnt been before. We had the mixed tai/Chinese starter which was nice so it was a good start to the meal. However it all went downhill from there.Mains arrived and the Mongolian beef was the first thing we tried. As soon as me and my wife took the first bite we both knew the meat was off, as it smelt and tasted rancid. I advised the waitress of this, she took it away and returned by telling us it was the spices they use, which didnt make sense. Ive tried many Asian dishes and its never caused the meat to taste off, and we were both confident it was indeed off.Anyways, they still charged me for it on the bill until I asked them to remove it. There was no apology, or acknowledgment of the issue. The manager was walking around like the Boss, but when it came to this issue a simple apology would have gone along way, which he didnt do.The staff did not seem to be bothered and even allowed us to eventually leave when we were done without a sorry or a goodbye. Will not be returning.
Our first visit and wont be the last. The food was amazing, as was the service.
Great service and so was the food. We got the Royal Thaali and chocolate fudge cake to share.
One of the best Asian restaurants I have visited in Bradford. The Staff were on point, providing great hospitality and made sure I enjoyed my visit. The ambiance at the venue was something special and the layout of the place was fantastic giving you the full dining experience.Theres a great variety to choose from.Starters were served with home made chillies, which were a delightful touch. I highly recommend the chicken liver!Main course: Each dish had its own unique flavouring, made to your choice of spices.Deserts: I was spoilt for choice. Forget the calories for one night, indulge and let yourself go!Drinks: Mouth watering drinks to choose from to accompany the delights of the food served. It was worth a visit from Birmingham. Ill be planning my return visit soon.
The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. As you can see from the pics we went all out and we weren’t disappointed, they were exquisite. The main course consisted of a variety of freshly cooked dishes, fish, meat and veg, my favourite was the sea bass which really thrilled us. It all was followed by a delicious array of desserts with a scoop of ice cream as an accompaniment. The service was first class and we had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason I highly recommend going to the Food City restaurant.
Food City Review**UPDATE** New Ni Hao Indo Chinese restaurant is opening on 1st August.Located in a popular Bradford Street, Food City is a new restaurant we saw driving past, and being HMC we decided to pay them a visit. The deco and feel of the restaurant is modern and welcoming with a nice waterfall in the entrance. The restaurant is laid out over two floors, but the upper floor doesn’t seem to be in use. It wasn’t busy when we went but there are some seats for waiting. A staff member greeted us and showed us to our table.Food City aims to offer a World of culinary under one roof. The detailed menu reflected that with lots of options from burgers to pizzas & pastas to Indian Cuisine. We were spoilt for choice! For the starters, we ended up ordering:Assortment of Poppadoms - A unique variety of poppadums with 4 home made dips. Great to begin with. The dips were amazing.Arabic Meze - Hummus, mutable & tabouleh accompanied with fresh naan, selected prime olives & jalapeños. The naan was served hot and fresh.Chicken Wings - Seasoned triple wings crisp fried, tossed in Jamaican spice. You can also choose a BBQ flavour. Tasty, but the wings were small and seemed a little overpriced for what you were served. For the mains we chose The Royal Thaal as we can try out the best of Food City. This included Fish tikka, Chandni Tikka and single Lamb Chop. Chicken, Lamb & veg curries as the mains and Pulao, Naan, salad, raita for the sides & Gulab Jamun for dessert. It is described as a complete meal fit for royals and a great way to try out many items. We loved all the items on this platter.Being a new restaurant, service was just on par, with some young inexperienced staff serving.Food City have a prayer room upstairs. There is no car park, but you can park on the street. Food City is HMC Approved. Our Rating: 7/10
Long story short ... absolutely incredible food. The entire staff is friendly, amazing, on time, and very humorous, that is sure to put a smile on your face. The food was very delicious and exceeded my expectations. The mock-tails were stunning and the taste was out of this world, and i loved the fact that the owner greeted me and my mates with a smile on arrival, on order and on paying.Would honestly recommend this restaurant to everyone!!!
What a wonderful restaurantFantastic family atmosphereBeautifully decoratedFantastic musicAnd WOW what an amazing menuHad the Sea bass was out of this worldLots of desserts to choose fromHad the ghulab Janat, heavenlyApparently they are opening an Indo Chinese and Thai section in AugustCan’t wait to try thatWill be going again soon!
Does Bradford really need another restaurant ?Its a question I asked myself as we visited Food City on Great Horton Road in Bradford. The exterior was like a jewel with a stunning glass front. The interior was even more exceptional. Lots of space between tables and booths for families perfectly placed to watch the world passing by.The image of the restaurant was only enhanced by the effort and warmth of the amazing staff.Dont think I have ever seen an owner in a restaurant before. He visited us at our table and said "Hello".His passion to deliver the perfect experience for all his customers was an unusual and very pleasant thing to witness.Once you review the menu you realise Its appropriately named "Food City"There were burgers of all types and you could spend the whole day trying to choose one. There were pizzas, steaks, and curries to mention a few others.Perfect for typical families where no one ever agrees what they want to eat. Our kids are no exception. The drinks menu had a selection of wonderfully named mocktails and the dessert menu had an amazing selection of my favourite kind of food. I have a sweet tooth! Or should I say teeth! We ordered a mixture of steaks, burgers and curries. I did tell you we dont agree on what to eat.To say the food was out of this world would be an understatement.Wonderful and tender steaks. The burgers were the best I have ever eaten and I have eaten lots of burgers. The curry was exceptional and the naan was perfect.I was blown away by the "Hurricane". Sorry forgot to mention that was my mocktail. The desserts were something else. Freshly made and unbelievably tasty. I dont normally eat Asian sweets, but the Ghulab jaman was to die for.The experienced enhanced by the reasonably priced bill.Apparently they will be adding a Chinese menu to the list as well.Thats not going to help to decide what to eatCant wait to go again. To answer my question ....Yes Bradford does need a restaurant of this quality and selection of food.
Spoilt for restaurant choice in Bradford, thought we would give Food City a try as it had recently opened (April 2019). Went there with the family (group of 6), the food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. The menu was varied and so much to choose from (I have very fussy kids and every one managed to order something they wanted). We especially enjoyed the special grill, the chef prepared the curry based on our selection on a hot plate (not seen that done before).Big thanks to the manager (didn’t catch his nameand the waiting staff who were all warm and welcoming, had a great evening. Seriously worth a visit!
