Fondouk El Attarine - Restaurant in Tunis, Tunisia
Today we tried to get some lunch here and waited for 15 minutes to be approached by a waiter. Then they said there’s no more food… but Google says they are open until 6pm. Very bad service - can’t recommend this restaurant.
Amazing restaurant/gallery hidden down a little alleyway in the Medina of Tunis. Delicious food and lovely decor. There are also beautiful items from local craftsmanship on sale in the surrounding gallery. Definitely recommend if visiting the old town in Tunis 😀
Whilst the place is absolutely beautiful, and we could have had a beautiful lunch, we were seated at a dirty table, despite multiple requests for a clean tablecloth we waited. After being barked at to order 1 second after the menu had been presented to us. Food arrived after a long wait and it was disappointing, greasy and frankly not fresh, we came towards the end of service which was maybe our mistake but the service itself was overall rude, unhelpful and mainly unfortunate.
Clean, delicious, great food and service and suoer service ❤️🇹🇳🇹🇳
Arrived at 16:00 and was not allowed in (with loads of people still inside)…a day before when we asked we were told opened untill 18:00
A beautiful restaurant, nice workers and really tasty food fell in love with the place i highly recommend ✨
They close 3 hours earlier than what google says. Waiters not friendly at all with tourists.
reasonably priced food, great setting, and A/C. the restaurant sometimes has a wait so plan ahead
Perfect place to buy authentic textiles
They put in internet they close at 6:00 pm and you go at 4:00 and they say Its closed! Is very bad because you are going from very far and when you arrive they tell you this!
Good food, great atmosphere.
It was my sort of place, a treasure cove. Such lovely artsy jewellery pieces.
Well over an hour and still waiting to be seated. Not solo traveller friendly as preference given 2 people and above.
Great fast service wonderful unique dishes.
A family friend invited us to this place. I consider it a hidden jewel in the middle of downtown. A beautiful restaurant from the inside. From the outside you probably wouldnt know it exists. The food was delicious. The service was quick. I would recommend eating here in a heartbeat.
Lovely dishes for vegetarians. We had a fruit salad and the vegetable couscous. Great atmosphere. 40 dinars for two people. Would recommend!
Very good food, attention and atmosphere
The restaurant is super clean and beautiful, the food is also good if you want to try typical tunisian dishes. However, I dont encourage people to go there during the weekend because it can get super crowded and the service becomes bad.
Hidden gem in the middle of the souqLovely food and atmosphere
Probably one of the best restaurants in Tunis. Top class service and fresh and clean restroom.
Oasis in the midst of bustling souk - serenaded by an ancient string instrument whilst sipping thé de menthe.
Very nice environment and tasty authentic foodI like the place
Fantastic service by friendly staff. The food is good and the toilets are apparently the cleanest in the whole Medina.
The best, I always take my mom on dates there . The food is good , The service is excellent and the whole atmosphere is just amazing, a sweet mix of nostalgia. Last time ,there was even a live performance, looking forward to my next visit for sure.
We were served quickly and the food was really good
The servers were somewhat friendly. My food took 45 minutes, and when it came out it was just rice with beef and melted cheese slices on top. I asked the waiter for the best thing on the menu. The food doesnt really match the atmosphere, I was hoping for a nice experience and I left pretty dissipointed. I tend to try to dress down so that I dont get harassed on the street and instead I felt judged and unwelcomed.
Beautiful restaurant, attentive staff, and delicious food at a reasonable price.
Very attentive service, friendly and efficient staff. Excellent food quality. Very well presented. Very affordable prices.
Nice spot ! Nice food !
Unique place, friendly stuff, beautiful atmosphere and great food. Nothing to say more 👌I totally recommend this place for lunch and romantic meetings.
Food was great, service was pretty terrible even in off-season. The gift shop is THE place to get high-end souvenirs, especially the slippers.
Excellent food. The set menu was 👌🏼35 dinars for three courses tea and deserts.
Came here to have lunch with my gf and after sitting down and being served for starters, only then we were told we have to wait because that table was reserved already. If that was the case they should of told us that from the beginning and not let us sit, served us water and appetizer or whatver then kick us to the curve.
This was my favourite place to eat in Tunis!Such a professional operation with impeccable service and outstanding food. The daily specials are brought to your table written up on a chalkboard. Amazing quality and the best brik that I ate in Tunisia 💫
Great spot for lunch in the medina! Tasty couscous dishes and very good service. Popular with locals and tourists. Good value. Classic interior. Recommended!
Only open for lunch. Amazing courtyard setting. Just stunning. Food is very average and overpriced. Just have desserts and coffee.
Decent traditional food in the middle of the Arabic market...
Ety nice and refeeshing zriga, balouza and assida. Excellent ambient.
Open air, great ambience and vibes, cool, even though its in open space...liked the food, loved the service..i will definitely recommend it!!
Wonderful experience overall! The food was nice and the staff very friendly, they do speak english to help with the menu! I love it!
Great food along with a nice traditional Tunisian folklore. The set menu offers you great choices at a reasonable price.I will definitely go back next time in town
Unique Tunisian restaurant with an authentic design, great food, very friendly staff, very well located in the old town not far from Tunis city hall. Worth trying this place for a memorable Tunisian culinary experience :)
Excellent place to have authentic Tunisian food. Great ambience. Well refurbished but maintains the authentic heritage look.
Very beautiful restaurant nice place, back ground music, good for stop to have lunch and dinner or dessert 🍨
A very elegant traditional house and now a restaurant
A really lovely setting and a place to find a bit of calm in the busy Medina. The menu has good local choices made from fresh ingredients and the staff can help explain some of the dishes you may not have heard of.It gets three stars as we ordered a veggie dish and it came with meat in it. 2 staff argued that we were wrong before one admitted we were right. We said we didn’t want anything to replace it but were brought something anyway, and charged for it.Not great.
It is the brother restaurant of Dar El Jeld, I was too stuffed from the delicious breakfast that I only strolled inside. Well not only it is a feast for the eye, but it also has a display of handmade jewelry and souvenirs in very affordable prices. Make sure to buy their perfumes with arabian scents (Misk, Anbar, Oud...or check the collection of rugs and vintage clothes.
Stunning decor in the middle of the Medina. Decently price menu for amazing food. If i lived in Tunis id be there very often!
One of the best eating experiences I have had in Tunis. Service is attentive but not intrusive. The place is well decorated, clean, and welcoming, such an escape from the surrounding souks. The cous-cous with fish was delicious and so was the creme tunisienne (dessert). A bit disappointing that you couldnt pair it with a glass of wine but the freshly squeezed lemonade wasnt bad either. Overall, very good value for money as well.
Very nice traditional place, its a really peaceful Oasis from the Medina
