Flourishing Cafe 食中天 - Chinese restaurant in Waitakere, New Zealand
Best Chinese in the area imo. HUGE serving sizes so good for a crowd. Fun on a busy night.
Food was okService was horrible
Yuck atmosphere with no music, old carpet, just overall a dirty feeling. The worst part of it was the absolutely horrible rude lady serving. She would not even give me an itemised receipt. She ruined the whole experience for our group with her attitude . The men cooking were nice even if they’re back of house. Will never come back.
Completely disappointed for all the dishes l ordered. Not only the quality of the foods, even the ways of cooking was really bad. The only acceptable food was the rice.
Im not keen on bakery food, but this little place was great, good was very tasty and fresh even at 3.30pm when we stopped in. Recommend to any one
Really disappointed with the food , atmosphere and overall presentation of the place! Heard so many good things about this restaurant, but was really let down . Food was bland , was like sitting in a big empty warehouse. Such a shame. Lady who looked after us was nice , but thats where it ends. Definitely wont be back .
Could not eat 2 boxes of $60 worth of takeaway food as it was given in a very thin cheap paper box and it broke and had to throw it away.Other 2 boxes of food were given in plastic containers and was very good and tasty. The lady at the counter was very rude as well.So I have to give one star.
Fast efficient service easy access in and out
Great Chinese meal, very delicious and moderate prices.
Excellent, reasonably priced food. Very friendly staff. Will be back again. 👍
Went with a group of friends. Food was average but the customer service is shocking. When we went to pay the girl who had been on her phone all night at the till was so rude to us, she told us cash only and wanted us all to leave and go to atm to get cash out. We told her to take our eftpos payment or we would leave without paying. Wont be going back.
Authentic Cantonese food without the frills. Delicious vegan options (salt and pepper tofu, green beans, eggplant, rice noodles and more). Generous portions and good value. Super fast service in a very laid back environment.
In Henderson-Rosedale area, this restaurant has existed for over a decade, old China fashion style, quite friendly host. Food are good, from ordering to serving they are reasonably quick. Good foodie experience.
The best Chinese food I’ve had outside of China! Huge portions, food comes out fast.Excellent vegan options. The salt and pepper tofu is a must. I won’t go to any other Chinese restaurants as this place is head and shoulders above the rest. Very casual and down to earth environment with delicious food.
Authentic Chinese food at reasonable prices. The wontons are highly recommended. The place is getting somewhat dated but the food will bring you back.
What a hidden Gem. This restaurant is A1 premium Chinese restaurant. The best Chinese food we had ever tasted inNZ. The service was told the food delicious, and there were 8 of us dining. My wife is Chinese, and she managed a top Chinese restaurant for more than 6 years and even she agreed it was super good and forgot one thing the size and quantity is way over the top.
Awesome food. Ordered one entree hot & spicy tiger prawns & a main dish chicken black bean sauce which was more than enough to be shared between three of us. Oh my god check out how they serve tasty steamed rice. Excellent place to eat Chinese food. If you havent been here, guys you for sure missing something!
Came here for a birthday celebration. Excellent 👌👍 Service. Very friendly and cheerful staff. Great quality food.
If I could give zero stars then i would.the food is good but the service is horrible, staff are rude even though the sign on the door says they close at 11pm we felt like we had been rushed out at 10:15pm, one of their staff sat down at a near by table and stared us down for what felt like a good 20 mins and then another lady started clearing our table and slamming plates and glasses around before we were even done.will never return to this place again, no matter how good the food is the service is just one of the worst ive ever come across
Opening hours on the door and online say they close at 11pm but we were rushed out at 10pm, horrible service one lady started up her vacuum and started cleaning right next to us as were had just started to eat and then later walked over with a container and slamming glasses and plates around. As we went to pay the guy at the counter tried to over charge us, this used to be one of our favourite places but will never return to this place again, there are plenty other places that do the same type of food and are a lot friendlier canton cafe kingsland or Hongs Kitchen Westgate
First experience was good quality food at reasonable prices. Car parking was hard to find but a nearby business was also having a Christmas function.
Internet and sign on shop says closes at 11pm we got kicked out after 10pm. Staff had yelling fits at eachother. Accused us of being late for our booking claimed we booked for 530pm not 830pm. Which we definitely did not book then as we had my childs performance and dinner was for afterwards. When paying lady was shaking her head, throwing pens around the desk and slamming the calculator down. The most unprofessional service Ive ever encountered in my life!!! It ruined my birthday dinner. Food is yum but due to service I will never be going back. Go to canton cafe in kingsland ... Same food with great service!!!
Food was good. Slightly overpriced. Portions r good. Fried vegetables r jus some rice dough around. Not good. They need to have photos of most dishes. The server couldnt understand. Also no hard drinks. Only beer
My favourites were the fried wontons and the lunch special Roast Duck noodle soup. Such good value for the noodles and very hearty servings. The fried wontons were a bit different to what I was expecting, in fact much better. I only wish there was more filling to get better value. The other dishes we had were cooked so perfectly, even the prawns. The only thing I disliked was that there was a lot of fried onions and not many other vegetables to fill up the prawn and pork dishes. Other than that, 5 stars for quality and value of food, service was decent and fast on a Monday for lunch. Just wish I ordered more fried wontons to take home lol
Went there last Friday with my partner, there was a big party of people there who were making a huge amount of noise as they were celebrating something. What I couldn’t understand was if they were a big party of people celebrating whatever why didn’t they find a venue and book the whole place out.ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND COULDNT EVEN HEAR WHAT EACH OTHER WAS SAYING DUE TO THE RACKET....we asked the waitress to see if she could ask them to tone down the noise abit but she rolled her eyes at us as if we were making an alien request.DEFINITELY WOULDNT RECOMMEND
We had lunch and dinner at this restaurant serveral times. We came back for dinner recently. On arrival, we found that the restraurant was pretty crowded and of course noicy. However we were not disappointed. The service was still good and friendly. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and helpful. As for the food they still maintain the same quality of taste. If you are keen to try some Chinese dishes, this will be a good place to start with.No language and parking problem.
A decent chinese restaurant - the duck is good and the other dishes are quite tasty and good portion size. Also if you can not finish your meal they offer takeaway.
The "Special tofu" is very nice but you have to ask for it - it is not on the menu. The Singaporean noodles are good too.
Foods good, love the sizzling plate, quanity is gigantic for a human like me thats usually tough to measure, the one star down is only service but that depends on what time in day your there.. all in all good chinese(i thinkfood
Just had an awesome big family dinner here. Everything we ordered was delicious from the Sizzling Beef with Sichuan sauce to the Spicy Spare Ribs, Roast Duck, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Seafood & Tofu Hotpot, Mixed Veges and Young Chow fried rice! While we ordered far too much we ate the lot, no need for a doggy bag. Nice, friendly staff. Will definitely be back again next month.
The clay pot and sweet n sour pork is yum!! My favorite Chinese restaurant. Their peeking duck is a must!
Four of us went for dinner tonight and we were seated and ordered on tray and mains .We requested fork as we don’t use chopsticks. The girl just told us in a very rude manner that you go and get it and we did. Then we requested bigger plate as we always do.She brings 4 plates all wet with water dripping so I told her we can’t eat in wet plate so she just brought some tissues and left it on the table and walked away. Then I told another lady that that is not good service so she dried the plates.I asked for the manager or owner and I was told they don’t come to the restaurant for very long time.We just had enough so we paid and requested receipt and was told it was in Chinese and said just take the picture if you want.So no receipt was issued in English.Very rude and very very poor service. No need to go there any more.Plenty other places with friendly service.
Realised that owner is changed when 1st dish was bought in. Very poor n cheap quality. Its a aweful day to book our lunch table today. It was beautiful cooking n delicious meal before. What a shame that the resturant still keeps the same name but its completely different things at all.
Great quantity of food that was tasty and the service was very quick. The man working there was very friendly and genuine. He quickly found and got us an ice pack as soon as my brother got a nose bleed.
The food was great yum. They were able to serve food quick enough on a big order of 8 dishes. Although we ordered peking duck, it came a bit later than we expected but the wait was worth it. It was soo good! Overall big servings and a hearty meal. Great for sharing. I think they need more fans in there though for summer.
Nice clean environment and friendly prompt service. Dont order the wontons as they are oily and paper thin with the tiniest smear of filling. Hot pot was tasty with a good variety of meat and seafood but more than half tofu and just a few veges on top. Fried tofu with Maggi sauce was yummy and a huge portion. Both these meals suffered from a lack of seasoning however. Vermicelli noodles were a lot drier than we expected but tasty and pleasantly spicy with plenty of meat and shrimp. Glad we had so much leftover as otherwise this would have been a very pricy meal.
Food here is great I like the bbq pork and beef vege fried noodles. A bit pricey though.overall clean tidy place
My first visit here and it wont be my lastI ordered the wontons chicken ginger with rice amazing dish just tasty and delicious.Seating and tables are close to each other it is a medium large place. It has a toilet which is convenient. It is a popular placeI noticed that customers can call and make orders on the phone. As there was a few people coming inside the restaurant and picking up there orders.
Disappointed tonight. Usually outstanding but one of our dishes was just awful. Did say .....but didnt get a response that remotely cared. Live over South Auckland way so wont make the effort to go there again.
Awful. the ribs I purchased were undercooked, tough, inedible. Dont bother with this place. Its a shame as it used to be good. $25 for deep fried bones is a rip off.
One of the tastiest places I have ever eaten at! I ordered a seafood meal and was pleasantly surprised by the generosity of the seafood portion which tasted absolutely fantastic!
Yum. You need at least 4 people or you cant try many dishes! Staff are great! Family friendly.
AWESOME FOOD. Staff dont know too much English. Super affordable!
Sometimes the food is really good sometimes it’s really bad. They last time I went made me decide never to go again. Staff should be able to describe dishes to customers. Utensils where properly washed and looked old and all scratched up. The soup was really nice but I have never seen wontons like the ones they serve in my life.
ok food relative to price. But the sevice was so poor that I will never come back here.
Food is good. Atmosphere could be better. Food is very cheap for what you get. $130 fed up to 8 of us so good value for money.
ive came here a couple times with family its the bestnice big tables with lazy susan which i love so works for our large numbersgreen tea as table drink rather than water is the best thing everpour their wine glasses very generously 10/10
Food is tasty, value for money, and nice embient.
Our favourite place to have Dinner with coworker & friends. Nice food & affordable. Easy to get reservations.I also had my Baby Baptismal lunch here in 2016. weve been going here since year 2011.
A good place to have a quality Chinese food. Compared to other Chinese restaurants I tried around new Lynn , this place is great in terms of food and service. Loved the sizzling beef and chicken. Better to order steam rice which is 1.50$ and go ahead with different dishes. Better to book in advance as it tend to get busy in the evening. As it doesnt have much space , restaurant tend to be noisy when crowded.
