Flat Rock Tent Park - in Ballina, Australia
Flat Rock Tent Park in Ballina
Description
Terrible reception lady.Called several times, every time after saying couple details, hangs up saying shell call back in couple minutes.Ive never seen so poorly managed place.
MoreSuper chill, cheap and right on the beach!
Found this place by accident when heading to Nth Qld. What a lovely location and quiet! You can listen to the ocean waves crashing on the beach at night. Great walks and a great camp kitchen as well. 👍
MoreOur 2nd stay here and we absolutely love it!. Clean amenities, lovely hot showers, large sites with a quick stroll to the empty beach, not a soul in sight. We will definitely be back, highly recommend this place. 🙂
MoreThe 3night minimum stay is very limiting for some folks, especialy if you are just passing through and would like an opportunity of a beach stay(check google Maps for FREE CAMP AREAS AND REST STOP ~ Some allow a 24, 48 and/or 72hr stay to see a community over several days, if you want).A bit constricting/limiting*maybe something can be arranged with managers if low on holiday makers (supply and demand,peek/off peak periods etc)....Would give more stars but $43 for an unpowered site is a little overpriced, especially with rhe cost of everything rhese days (duesel~highway roberry blaming a Dake War overseas when we should have our own reserves). Will review again end of 2022, early 2023 when things change.NESARA
MoreBack to one of our favorite camp sites after COVID. The place is awesome highly recommend.
MoreCamping trip with son and 2 of his friends and their dads. Close to beach, perfecv, good facilities. Watch the female manager lady, well intended but not very tactful or welcoming
MoreNot much going on but great place to camp free hot showers and great area to wonder around between Lennox head and Ballina no power sites
MoreWell what can I say...no camp fridge, no washing machines, bush turkeys that peck or eat everything! When they temporarily lost my cash payment (in my other account!??That was the last straw. 🤔🙄
MoreGreat private camp site right at the beach. Clean showers and toilets. Great place. Will visit again.
MoreBeautiful camp site, a minutes walk to the beach. Amenities are fantastic and clean. An absolute gem of a spot. Highly recommend.
MoreVery good place to camp. And looks beautiful. Great facilities. And a nice to place fish.
MoreAmazing spot by the side of the beach. Literally 1 min walk. It’s full of sites so you’ll have close company from your neighbours. The lady in the office was extremely helpful and really nice.We had the best time exploring around, even if the camping was full the beach was peaceful and surprisingly empty, which made it look like a peace of paradise. We’ll be back!!
MoreLovely camp site. Right next to the beach, bike walking trail. Watch out for the cheeky birds... They will steal anything edible 🤣
MorePerfect spot for a weekend or longer getaway. Right on the beach and a lovely coastal path north and south for people of all abilities.
MoreA great park to stay at for a few nights, not far from Ballina and Lennox head. A fantastic camp kitchen with Cooking and washup facilities and plenty of seating. Very clean amenities. And a few shady camp sites for in summer.
MoreI booked two nights stay here and paid $88 in advance however due to the floods I was not able to come and I was told my money would not be refunded. I think this was very unfair given it was a natural disaster and out of my control and given that I cancelled 2 weeks in advance.
MoreBeautiful and relaxing, well kept surroundings. Quick beach access. Mostly flat grassy tent sites, clean toilet shower and kitchen facilities. Friendly and accommodating on site managers. Also only 10mins drive to either Ballina or Lennox so its easy to grab extra supplies and a good coffee in the morning.
MoreFlat Rock camping ground, when I stayed there was great, not only the sites, the whole around it for some way is bushland, three sides, beach on the other. The namesake of the park, been the large rocky, flat though outcrop, is very interesting, especially with hundreds of natural pools, each having their own distinct separate "Aquariums". Many varieties of birds here. Sharpes beach to the north, Shelleys beach to the South.
MoreEven though it rained the whole time it was an amazing place. The lady behind the desk was super super nice in helping me sign in. Thank you so much for an amazing time. Will 100%be coming back
Morestill one of the best camping sites on the northern nsw coast line ,beach perfect ,camp sites large and ammenities always clean ,one of the last remaining camp grounds where you can have a fire ,perfect .
MoreThe location and surrounding local areas (Ballina, Lennox, Byronare beautiful and lovely. The amenities were cleaned very thoroughly every day. Although it didnt have more than 10 minutes of visitors showering at night for them to be utterly trashed with hair, dirt, sand and mud. Its not very private, kids ran around until 10.30pm every night playing spotlight, yelling and being disruptive even though there was a 9pm lights out rule. The staff were very friendly. Its not a very private Campground and you are packed close together, you kind of feel like youre on display for everyone else to freely work through/past your tentaite very closely. Was a bit disappointed at how loud most people were at night with music playing and how they didnt try to quieten down childen or be respectful. No one in the area really had camping etiquette. But not to say that actual park grounds arent nice. Its close to a lovely dog beach and beach. If youre chasing serenity, I would give this place a miss and definitely avoid in school holidays. However if youre used to cramped suburbia and crowded campgrounds, then you will fit right in and enjoy the lovely location.
More3 nights at the awesome Flat Rock Tent Park. Couldnt be happier. Tracy the manager was so welcoming and friendly. The amenities are spotless and the general energy at the park is a relaxed one with lots of friendly guests. Easy beach access lovely trees and lots of cheeky turkeys and ibis around too! 10 out of 10!
MoreA truly great place. Well positioned by the beach and beautiful surroundings. The camp sites are a little tight but adequate. Brilliant kitchen area. All very neat and tidy.Be warned tho,the bush Turkeys will steal whatever they can get their beaks on.
MoreIt’s a beautiful clean park, the facilities are very clean. The place is right by the beach, very convenient for families and kids.Unfortunately I ended up having an argument being the lady at the counter during the check out because the night before someone gave us a fire pit. I returned the fire pit to the office, she said it’s not in the register did you sign for it?I said no someone drop it off for us to use. She said well that’s $12. I asked if it was including the timber as after I got the fire Pit I came back to the front office to buy some timber she said no that would be extra. I was a a bit surprised that a fire pit that is rusted and the bottom is barely hanging on without any timber would cost $12 for a night, I said that’s a bit steep for a fire pit.She got very defensive and said it’s in the contract here that you have to have signed, I said no I didn’t someone gave it to us and I am returning it.He response was very aggressive and responded by saying NO this costs us $240 and they would have signed for it and paid for.I was like look I am not worried about paying the $12 I can afford I just think it’s a bit steep and surprising for a fire pit without any firewood that someone dropped off and I am returning it to you. I could have left it there and said nothing, I am giving some feedback but I think you missed the point...I paid for the fire pit I think she charged me $10. But the. She then cried and said:”we are a small business we have lost so much this is not how I wanted to end this conversation” then slammed door shut on my face.On the way out I said to her, I am sorry you got upset that was not my intention. My advice to her would be to please listen to your customers, if they are giving you feedback it’s not a complain, it’s feedback. I am well aware of the situation that small businesses are in and always, always, always happy to help any small business in need.So please be humble, I didn’t deserve to be spoke to in that manger either, where I have paid for the service. Up until that experience I was planning to give the pace a 5 star rating but sadly our stay there was overshadowed by poor behaviour from management...
MoreGreat park. So clean and peaceful i booked last minute for 1 night and they were great put my right at the front of angels beach lucky me, the toilets were spotless wow. Camp kitchen was great too and soo clean. Would stay again for sure!!!
MoreWell maintained property, especially the amenities. Some sites are packed in like sardines particularly if two large setups side by side. I struggled with somewhere to park my 4wd as I was set in behind other campers.Location is amazing access to two beautiful beaches, bike paths both north and south.I’d come back, just in off peak time.
MoreAbsolutely awesome place, great clean facilities and a nice atmosphere. Nice beach access. The owners are really friendly and have a great place as well as the cutest rabbit in the world!
MoreTotally love coming here and have enjoyed doing so for a long time now. Children have grown up with our extended camping familyThe facilities are great and always kept in top shape, and extra touches like father xmas on the golf cart and the friendly chats make it special.
MoreI was turned away with my girlfriend at 7pm when we had nowhere else to stay. If this had been done in a polite manner that would have been ok, but the woman living in residence was unbelievably rude. I would not have expected to be treated in such a way at any camp ground in Australia.
MoreMosquitoes, absolutely horrendous, 24/7, due to neighbouring wetlands, worst we have ever experienced in all our years of ongoing travel not to mention large numbers of scrub turkeys causing ongoing havoc.Being a Council Park this issue needs to be urgently addressed with regular spraying.Spectacular coastal location with magnificent surf beaches, bike and walking tracks, fabulous.Park itself very ordinary, in particular uneven camp sites with very limited shade, however lovely clean shower/bathroom ammenities.PLEASE NOTE THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED VIA TEXT FROM KELLI HALL LATE LAST NIGHT(Park Management)She also decided to ‘black list’ other members of our group simply by association - peculiar behaviour indeed.Below is their response to constructive criticism. ⤵️Permanently black listed from Flat Rock Tent Park due to bad review.Management
MoreFantastic Camping spot right on the beach just north of Ballina.Pretty good facilities and great access to a bike path that goes south to Ballina and north to Lennox Heads (although this is a tough ride). The beach has a life guard on duty (no flags thoughand is popular with the learn to surf school. Will be going here again if we can get a spot!
MoreThe lady in the office was extremely helpful and polite. The facilities were clean and the grounds seem to be well looked after for the amount of traffic they suffer. Decent size camping area. Heaps to do and close to everything you need
MoreI only stayed for 2nights as they are fully booked. This is the greatest and fantastic place to camp!! Spacious site, flat ground and thick turf. Super friendly and nice staff and super clean and tidy tidy place as facilities are very well maintained. You will find comfort, excitement and cozyness there. I am 100% going back for next holiday. Book in advance!!!!
MoreReally loved it here! Was well looked after grounds and amenities were clean. Right next to beach but nice and sheltered so was just a pleasant breeze blowing. Big sites too. Will definitely be back.
MoreBeautiful spot right on the beach and surrounded by bushland. Camping facilities are excellent. Tent sites are big so you dont feel like you are cramped in. We are definitely booking here again.
MoreUnfortunately we choose the worst weekend of the winter with heavy rains and large storms. However, it is a fantastic location and good facilities with hot water. Lots of space and you dont feel too packed in.They sell nicely cut firewood, but you must rent a pit for $4 a night.
MoreVery nice camp spot, large camp sites well dispersed lots of shady spots. Great bike path that goes all the way to boulders and Ballina. Throwing distance from beach, surf, fishing and rock pools.
More$51 for three. Beautiful location, quiet for NSW school hols. Few minutes walk to beach and on bike path to Ballina. Great clean facy, no washing machines but tubs. Grass flat sites and most with light tree cover.
MoreAwesome... this was our second year there for the Easter break, we love it.The camp grounds are very clean and well maintained, nice grassy camp sites, clean showers, lots of trees and an abundance of bird life. All this only a couple of minutes walk to the beach..We will be backNathalie & Greg
MoreGreat facilities, clean and well maintained. This is a council owned, privately managed campground very close the the beach but sheltered from the wind behind the dunes. There are showers, electric bbqs, several toilet blocks and lots of drinking water taps located around the campground.Sites can be a little small if in a busy period, but Ive not seen it fully booked yet.The road in and out can be busy during the warmer months with locals and tourists parking for the surf.Good surfing and fishing options on the beach, with a large flat rock feature packed with tide pools to explore. We even found some starfish! There is also a bike path along the headland into Ballina, bu be prepared for a few hills along the way!
MoreGood amenities. Cycle track that goes into town. Very close to beach. Sites not huge but pk if you are camping with a group and can pitch together. Open fires were allowed with fire pit. These can be hired if you dont have one.
MoreFirst time at Flat Rock. Amenities are very clean, hot showers are great. Staff are all helpful and very friendly. Location is brilliant with direct access to a beautiful beach and rock pools (which kids love to explore). Decent pathways surrounding campsite which is handy for bikes/scooters/skateboards/walking. Chilled relaxed atmosphere. Great spot. We have already booked our next stay. 👍🌅😁
MoreGreat spot, would definitely go again. Sites were a bit on the small side but still reasonable. Some sites I wouldnt want to camp on due to the steep slopes, however the ones towards the east of the park were all fairly flat. Always be sure to lock up your valuables though. Person next to me had their bikes stolen while we were there, and I heard from another camper who has been coming for years that theft is an issue at the park due to how close it is to a main walking track and the beach. But security is always an issue when camping and shouldnt stop you from getting out there!
MoreNice spot and a beautiful beach. Super chill guy at reception and reasonably priced. Showers are good. The camp area is not flat, which is a bummer. I came for the shower and free wifi... but the wifi is gahhbage. They need to evenly distribute packets of data to users, otherwise one person torrents and all the data goes to them.Wifi and angled camp site aside, this is a really nice place and I would come back.
MoreAmazing time :great staff friendly and very accomodating ! 5 star cleanliness in all bathrooms showers toilets and camp kitchen! close to the beach just an all round amazing park to stay in :stayed for 3 days over the long weekend with our family and our near 2 year old she had a ball :)
MoreDecent campground next to the beach. Not much privacy though. Camping area just feels like a clearing with a bunch of campers set up. Personally I prefer more seclusion. Nice facilities so you didnt feel like you were roughing it.
MoreGreat place to camp. Very friendly managers who help out to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Plenty of clean and spacious amenities, even in peak periods. The best park to kick back and relax.
MoreFlat Rock Tent Park... Amazing place to stay. The lady at reception was amazing and so accommodating, and the gentleman made amazing cappuccinos.Amenities were fantastic, with everything you could need. Clean camp kitchen with hot water to wash dishes, BBQ, showers and toilets that were all clean and convenient. Thanks Flat Rock Tent Park... Youll be seeing us again for sure.Jane and Jeff Kelly xox
MoreYay!!!!! its that time of the year once again when we head to Flat Rock Tent part for our yearly camping holiday. Weve been going to Flat Rock for over 12 years now, we never tire of this beautiful, back to nature, sanctuary. Where can you find a camp ground thats right on the beach that allows open fires so close to town (with all the amenities of a city, large supermarkets, Cinemas etc, great if its raining let me tell youthat feels like your in the middle of nowhere??? We love that the Management stick to their campground rules, which in turn gives us a trouble free and safe holiday. Not like some campgrounds where you are kept awake till 3 in the morning with drunken idiots doing what ever they like and so many cars you cant move let alone drive to your site. The count down is on and we cant wait to get there, set up and then open our first cool drink and kick back by the fire, Natures very own Television!!!.....Bring it on!!!
