Flagler Trail - Snowhill Road Trailhead in Sanford
Description
Privilege
Great trail to hike and bike. Not too long and offers a good variety of scenery. Some parts of the trail flood when it rains. Otherwise, it is well-maintained and most of the trail is shaded as well.
MoreThis is a great place to hike if you love to hike I personally trained to attend a Philmont 12 day trek on this trail. The scenery can get repetitive but for a one time hike this trail would be great. The river is only 2.5 miles down the trail from the trailhead so this would be a great hike for most ages.
MoreAlways a great walk with the dogs and Mrs
So talented. Wish we were able to preserve this section of trail better. There are lots of weeds, vines and areas are overgrown.
MoreLove this trail and the econ river
Amazing place to ride the bike o walk......
Beautiful natural area. Lots of hikers and bikers. Dirt trail. Rather wild. Definitely have seen wildlife on and near this trail. Usually pretty shaded, but best for early/late summer hikes(?), to avoid the heat of the day. Beautiful in late fall-early spring if you’re not into the heat.
MoreWhat a gorgeous trail, mostly covered which is great in the Florida heat. Lots of beautiful econ water views
MoreGreat trail! Ive seen deer up close on this trail!
This is a really beautiful place to walk but theres a guy in a neighboring farm or something that likes to fire a gun sometimes. It can be very loud.
MoreQuiet trail. Was a little water logged in a couple of spots, but my Labrador doesnt mind in the least!
MoreA nice easy trail to hike, its about 2.3 miles up to the river crossing and even during the summer the tree canopy covers the old railroad corridor to provide shade. There is one small stretch just over a mile in that is almost always muddy but can generally be avoided by carefully navigating the side of the trail. The remains of the old trestle bridge pilings for the railway can still be seen at the river. There are benches along the trail, near the 1 mile mark, and another where the mountain bike trail joins at about 1.7 miles - then some more at the river itself. You can hike all the way to Geneva Wilderness area on this path and there are also paths that follow the river to CR 426/Geneva Rd to the west and Snowhill Road to the east.
MoreGreat place to start a forest hike. 2 miles of mostly shaded trail to the river and old railroad bridge area. We especially enjoy the fall and winter hikes.
MoreEasy hike. Flooded during hurricane season. Great for kayaking.
Beautiful trail! It is perfect for walking, running or biking anytime of day or year. There is plenty of shade, nice soft ground and beautiful trees and scenery everywhere. One of the best trails in the Orlando area!
MoreIt was very nice. Halfway through our hike there were sounds of gunfire nearby in the woods from hunters, which was not very cool, so we left. But the trail is nice
MoreThis is where I park to hit the trails in Snow Hill. They put some bike tools and air pump. The parking is paved. Is shaded and good access to the rest of the trails.
MorePerfect place to hike, go birding, or search out wildflowers. The lack of restrooms at the parking lot keeps the loud and unruly masses at bay.
MoreReally fun mountain bike trail. Theres a long stretch of sand towards the end so make sure you have some good tires.
MoreIts about 2.5 miles to the river. This is an easy, flat hike overall but once you get to the econ there is some more challenging terrain.
MoreVery nice easy trail with access to many other trails.
This is a great trail for hiking and biking. Fairly little kid friendly too depending on stamina (since it’s almost endless trails). For newbies and regular visitors, please be aware that there are bears and alligators, along with other typical Florida wildlife. A mama bear & her cubs were just spotted this morning running into the trail from the road in the 9 o’clock hour. These woods is their home and they don’t care if it’s daylight when they’re hungry and exploring. Assume alligators are in every puddle of water too (we’ve seen babies and 10+ footers out there). All this said to just bring awareness...it is not a dangerous animal infested trail at all...lol...but it is Florida! Stay aware, take plenty of water and bug spray and enjoy the trail. It’s beautiful!
MoreGreat trail, portions were a bit on the muddy side, a couple areas were flooded and was not able to get to the northern side of preserve
MoreEasy access trail head, lots of parking, fairly well shaded. easy jump on point for Florida Trail or hiking into Little Big Econ.
MoreAn extremely shady, wide open trail. Great wildlife to see and many side trails to take as well.
MoreGreat trail for hiking, mountain bike and horse riding. Several entrances and many different trails once you are inside. Nice rivers bridges and trees. It is well maintained and nicely shaded for sunny and rainy days... Like today
MoreNice parking with shades. Amazing mountain bikes trails. The trail that follows the river is my favorite.
MoreReally cool trail with lots of different trail options for biking, hiking, running and even horseback riding. 🐎 Very clean and really beautiful Florida scenery and greenery. 😁
MoreThis is a nice trailhead for hiking / trail running / mountain biking with a good amount of shaded parking. From here, the trail starts out as a single in a narrow wooded section going north along Snow Hill Rd. for about 1/4 mile, at which point it turns into a wider trail (about the size of a one-lane roadthat goes due north for several miles. Its mostly dry and flat, though there are a few sections that were flooded even in the winter dry season. Along the way, there are several offshoots of the trail, including ones that hug the Econ River that are more technical. Personally, I prefer the narrow single-track trails, but its nice to have both options.
MoreThe trail was nice and well traveled. The parking lot was packed and there are no facilities.
MoreWow what an incredible asset to this community! First off: its free! It is not a difficult little trail. I did it with a stroller and in flipflops. It is a peacefull walk surrounded by trees. Oddly enough we did not get eaten up by bugs. And the trail was nearly a good twn degrees cooler than the neighbourhoods next to it (i switched the last bit to get to the parking lotit has clearly marked trail markers with lat and long. So it you need help you know exactly where you are. It was a great way to kill some time and get aome fresh air.
MoreBeautiful place. Nice walking trail. Keep a eye out for all Florida wild life. It has a abundance
MorePretty level hike with a defined path. There are lots of options of the main trail. We saw a snake but no gators.
MoreReally good trail for walking and great trail for biking...We really enjoyed it...Its pretty straight all the way down to the river with a few offshoots for bikers...I wouldnt recommend for beginning mountain bikers but with a little experience it looks like it would be fun. Not to many animals but still watch out for snake as the trail is surrounded by dense woods throughout...well definitely be going back.
MoreI am a beginning Trail Runner and ran down the bike path portion. Very fun and accurate signage. Minor to moderate flooding after rain in some parts.
Morecool place near to busy area
We walked the trail and it was ok. Probably better for biking. It was just a straight trail, no twist or turns.
MoreGreat place to start a scenic bike tour or walk. My dog and I walked 5 miles and back. He enjoyed the hell out of it!
MorePretty much a straight run except the beginning and the end, which consists of winding trails thru dense jungle like forest. But its great if your a beginner or seasoned trail runner like myself..
MoreIts flat, sandy and wide. Someone came through and removed all of the technical aspects of the trail and last time I was here running it, a toddler was riding a fixie bike here with his family spread out wide across the trail. Unfortunately this trail is not worth running or hiking any more, not sure who is responsible for this, but Flagler used to be a great trail. I would recommend trying Snow Hill, the next stop up if you are hiking or running - until that one is wrecked also. Also, the parking lot at Flagler is much more clear cut and paved. There are almost no more trees or shade, it looks like a regular grocery store parking lot in this forest, sadly. This is not a destination for people who like trails.
MoreDelightful in dry season, could not go past 1 mile because of flooding in summer. Great dirt trail, part of Florida trail, suitable for off road bicycling, running, hiking. The bridge over econ river seems to be permanently under repair.
MoreLots of good small trails and a quick walk from Snowhill or Geneva wilderness area. Bridges are closed, hopefully they reopen soon.
MorePark at trailhead parking lot. You will see benches and info/bulletin board. Go west and cross Jacobs trail and enter woods to trail. North is a beginners trail to the Economy bridge about 3.5 miles. The bridge is closed for repairs but planks to go arround.Going south from parking lot, takes you by the village refuse/dump site and then onto the side of Rt. 419. Not the fun direction.Multiple side routes along the Northern trail.
MoreGood hike, but there were a lot of people on there when I went (on a Saturday). I will go again on a weekday, may be better then.
MorePretty nice trail, though not much single track riding at first.
Miles of trails you can bike or hike. Swimming if you dont mind alligators. Great for kayaking and canoeing. When the water is low you can find nice beaches...PARTY TIME ! Please clean up your garbage
MoreIts a nice trial but its dangerous, i was hiking on it today and there was a giant black bear on the trail about 10 feet way from me
MoreEasily the best trail ride near Orlando. Lots of variety in terrain plus beautiful old Florida views near the river. I dont know of another place where you can see a long stretch of river and not hear cars driving nearby.
MoreGreat trail we use to live down the road from it and at one point use to frequent it a lot.
MoreGreat forest trail. The trail starts out really wide and lots of sand but once you get farther back its more narrow, packed dirt and more technical. I enjoy riding or hiking back there.
