Fiskekompaniet - Seafood restaurant in Tromso, Norway
Fiskekompaniet in Tromso
Description
Privilege
Incredible seafood, attentive service. I think the seafood platter would have to be a must order for seafood lovers. Evenings are set menu only I believe, so lunch will offer much greater flexibility. We liked our fixed menu dishses anyways.
MoreGreat place for fish and sea food loversBeautiful and romantic
We had the 6 course menu and it was very delicious. Perfect fish and sea food, presented with amazing sides in really creative dishes. Nice service, too. Overall a very pleasant experience and a recommendation if you want to treat yourself or others to a really nice dinner.
MoreGreat food, nice view to the harbour, currently only 4 and 7 course menu. Good atmosphere. Very good restaurant in Tromsø. Very high price level.
MoreExcellent restaurant with high quality wine pairing!!!. If you do spend some money on wine in Tromsø, you should definitely try it here: fish dishes that are combined with very surprising regional herbs, mushrooms, seaweed, miso sauces and a top wine arrangement!!!! All the wines were exclusively selected with the taste of the specific dish!We love Michelin star restaurants and I garantee you this one deserves one!
MoreIn the best neighbourhood with nice view to the sea, tasty dishes, very good service but quite expensive. 4/5 stars for the prices.
MoreSuperb food. We had the six course meal and it was amazing. The recommended wines were superb.
MoreGreat food and service--special call-out for Maria for going above and beyond with recommendations and overall niceness. Delicious and creative fish dishes.
MoreOver-the-top delicious seafood! We sampled all four oysters - delectable. We also sampled both seafood starters and main dishes. I would be hard-pressed to choose a favorite. The dishes were beautifully balanced and simply delicious. Topping it off was a nice light dessert - the perfect ending.I highly recommend Fiskekompaniet in Tromsø, Norway.
MoreSo impressed with this place! If you are a seafood lover you will absolutely love it. All kinds of fresh catch beautifully presented and blending of ingredients to perfection. We came for dinner and we loved it so much that decided to come for lunch the day after. Highly recommend.
MoreWe had the 6 course menu and although everything tasted nice it was the same thing each dish - white seafood with butter and cream. By the time we were at the main dish, we couldn’t finish it or enjoy the nuances of the taste differences. The service was okay, but we were having to pour our own wine, hail down waiters to ask to order things, etc. Overall not bad, but for the price point I walked away feeling lacking.
MoreI never have wrote a google review til today after the appalling service . My mum and I were looking forward to eat dinner here on 7/1/22 when we came to ask for a table for two the hostess turned us down since we didn’t make a reservation . We were willing to wait but she insisted that she doesn’t know when any of the guests will leave. But as soon as we were about to leave we saw guests leave and on top of that there were plenty of empty tables . I’m sure the food is amazing after all the reviews show that but the service is 0. I will never spend my money in a restaurant where the hostess is rude .
MoreVery delicious 👌🏻Fantastic food and very nice + friendly service.I really like the non alcoholic beverage recommendation suited for the menu. There are very creative creations within it. That should stick also after the current restriction. We definitely come again (but I would recommend to everyone to reserve a table in advance).
MoreNice food, environment and service
Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, quiet place, easy to talk to eachother, spacious. Waiters were nice and explained each meal. I am not a sweet tooth, but I loved the dessert, amazing combination of flavours. On the contrary, I expected a bit more from the main dish and I was not amazed by it. Overall a nice experience with good food.
MoreWe did the 6 course tasting menu - wonderful! We loved getting to try a variety of seafood and fish varieties. All dishes were superb, we would definitely go back. The non-alcoholic pairing menu was unique and fun!
More6-course menu is so delicious 🤤, everything is extraordinary! Cool staff, nice service !
MoreWe did the 6 course experience, which we highly recommend! The fish stew was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. If you are in Tromso, check this place out.
MoreWe had the 4 course dinner and we can’t speak highly enough of it. The taste was superb and the way of preparing known meals like Matjesherring in a completely different and new manner was simply amazing. Our waitress was also very helpful and did her very best to help us non-Norwegian speakers. We will come back!
MoreI called for a table very last minute and got it, luckily. As a foodie, the experience could not be better. Marvellous service, amazing food and ambience. Definitely a go if you are looking for a real nordic food experience!
MoreLiked the atmosphere , sea food platter ...not necessarily the potato waffle with fish eggs but ....service was great .
MoreGreat service, ambience and seafood in general. Fish soup, oysters and mussels are always excellent. King crab tends to be a bit of a hit-or-miss.
MorePricey (for UKbut excellent quality. One of us had chefs 3 course menu which included wolf fish which we would not otherwise order, but was very good. Desserts OK, but less exciting than the fish courses. Service excellent, quick and knowledgeable.
MoreOkay first of all, extremely wonderful service. The staff were so attentive and friendly, and they make sure you know what youre ordering. We ordered the Chefs 3-course Meal and Seafood Platter without giving much thought, and they made sure we knew what came with each dish before confirming our order. They even refill water without prompting unlike many other restaurants.Moving on to the food, they were all very fresh. Crabs took a while to pick out from the shell but oh my the prawn shells and mussels came off so easily. The cod had a really tasty sauce and cauliflower purée, I liked it! Ended the meal with a coffee panna cotta which I felt was a great refresher after that whole mound of seafood we ordered. Overall, its a great place and worth a visit when in Tromsø.
MoreNice food and ambience but food is a little pricey. But overall good experience
This restaurant was recommended to me by a tour operator, and it definitely lived up to the recommendation. The King Crab starter was delicious, as was the pan fried Cod. I decided on a dessert as well, and picked the poached pear. Every morsel of food was a delight to savour. Yes, a little on the expensive side, but it was worth it. The staff were attentive, the ambience perfect, and the meal.delicious. Thank you.
MoreLovely service. 2 Graff beers on tap (pilsner and ipa). Baked halibut was very good. Cod was a little too salty. Overall, good experience!
MoreIt was good but nothing more. The raindeer tartar were to fridge cold and they were to quick to get the food out from the kitchen.
MoreGreat view facing the harbor, the Arctic Church, friendly and helpful staffs, decent and fresh seafood, but a bit over the top in terms of asking price, of course this is a subjective opinion though, but I have tried better seafood in either Oslo and Stockholm.
MoreThe food was great and the view is also very scenic. U had hallibut with the seashell sauce heaven! The door is after the pasta factory. A lot of place for luggage storage in the entrance at your own risk. The staff are helpful and happy. There are also few other recommendations for fish in Tromso. I only tried this one. And they didnt fail me.
MoreExcellent seafood restaurant. I have tasted some of the greatest fresh seafood in this restaurant. The price might be quite expensive, but the high quality service and food are definitely worthy for me.
MoreA superb place to eat, very cery friendly service abd they go out of their way to make you happy. What better way to eat while looking out onto the river with beautiful surroundings. Food is excellent and very well presented. The dishes are explained to you and served with pride.
MoreI was told this was one of two places to eat local/seafood on Tromso. They were right, great food. Had the catch of the day which was halibut. It was tasty.
MoreThe place is well decorated and there are many tables, but the food is not amazing. Had cod fish for both appetizer and main dish, and it was just okay. My husband had a reindeer steak and it was very good. I would say that the restaurant is a little bit overrated...
MoreOne of the better options for seafood in Tromso. The king crabs and seafood platter was fantastic. Service here is good too and not too expensive for Tromso prices.Highly recommended.
MoreWe went here on a sleepy Sunday in Tromso without having booked anything for dinner. Fiskekompaniet took us in and what a great decision it was. The fish was so fresh and delicious. Langoustines were absolutely sublime. Great waiting staff who were friendly and knowledgeable. I didn’t actually think it was too bad price wise, especially considering how good the food quality was!
MoreHeavenly restaurant with outstanding atmosphere full of extremely helpful and friendly staff. The entire place is bright, relaxing, and spacious. We went in as a group of three without reservation, and we still got seat with a nice comfy couch. The house special brewed beer was light, taste like blonde beer you can get just in any regular bar. Fish soup were amazing, very rich and flavorful, but a little bit too salty. Oysters were very fresh and delicious. The fish steak was above average but not outstanding. Also, ordering reindeer steak may not seem to be the smartest idea in a seafood expert restaurant, but it turned out to be quite delicious(just the smells was a bit strong when it was served). Blood orange cheesecake was good too. Notably, the best thing about this place was it staff, our waiter was the star who made our dinner super enjoyable. Whatever question you asked him, he has the answer, or he will find out an answer for you. He was also very helpful, friendly, and always kept a big smile on the face. And don’t forget to grab some free little treats from the bowl which is full of candies on your way out. After all, a nice pricy and fancy restaurant with great staff. Perfect place for a date!!! (Prob not the best if you want the best food)
MoreWe were told that this is one of the finest restaurants in tromso which is probably true but having been to many upscale restaurants, I guess my expectations were set too high.Heres my restaurant experience last night:Great first impression - nice spacious seating; friendly and helpful staff; relaxing comfortable dinning ambience.Food - good overall but some dishes were slightly too salty (eg. The complimentary bread and butter and the shellfish soup which was the first course of the 3-course chefs menu).I loved the fish soup - you can get it as a starter or main. There were plenty of fish chunks in the creamy soup, unlike most other fish soup Ive had in any other European restaurants. The main course for the chefs 3-course menu was a ward fish fillet served with roast potatoes, creamy squash and Brussels sprouts. It was a tender piece of fish but I guess I prefer the taste and texture of other white fish like halibut and cod more.Another main shared between the three of us was the reindeer steak with hollandaise sauce and some sort of reindeer jus mix soy sauce. The waiter was very honest about it being the first day they started serving this dish, instead of their usual lamb shank, and that he had no idea how the dish could be best served. Having confirmed with the chef, however, he recommended medium slightly red (so somewhere between medium and medium rare).Back to the reindeer meat - it did have a very distinctive smell but the taste wasnt too different from beef. I have to admit that the tenderness was still incomparable to beef steak - I guess its mainly down to the leaner type of meat (as apparently all reindeers in Norway grow up in the wild, only those owned by the Sami people are farmed). I personally think it goes really well with the red Berry sauce but therere two other sauces on the side so why not give them all a try! Finally we shared the last course menu - mandarin orange cheesecake. I liked the refreshing cheesecake with a gingerbread cookie crumb base but not so much the sorbet.Overall I think it holds the reputation of being one of the finest restaurants in Tromso. One last thing, be expected to pay at least 400nok pp.
MoreThe best dinner I had in Tromso. Amazing fish soup and halibut, delicious oysters
MoreSuper fresh king crab I took in Europe and amazing banked cod I love it sooo much! Lamb was juicy and delicious with creamy smash potatoes, dessert was lovely with cloudberries (first time tried it). Staffs are super nice we had a happy talk:Thank you for this restaurant I really my time here!
MoreFreshest sea food Ive ever had! We had the seafood platter and the fish soup. Both were too good. Also the dessert was soul filling. Expensive but worth the money spent!
MoreOur waiter was extremely friendly and competent and provided is with a great evening at this nice place. His wine recommendations were on point. The interior is simple in a classy way. The presentation and the quality of the food were great.
MoreSoooooo good!!! Phillip was our culinary guide and seafood expert. 🎣 He suggested the monk fish, and it was super tasty! 😋 The shell fish soup was a great starter. Finished things off with a delicious lime curd. A must go when in Tromsø!
MoreThe best ever, strongly recommended to all. Beautiful view, kind staff, the fabulous food. Will come back tomorrow.
MoreWe came back for the oysters. They are even better today than a year and a half ago. The oysters are from British Columbia... sand then they soak in the North Sea for at least a week. Best oysters we have ever had! And our server was delightful. Be sure to go.
MoreModern interior, tasty and fresh-made seafood! Do make reservation before you come. And do pay attention to the sign in case you cannot find the entrance:)
MorePerfect Food and good service! Price level: Norwegian.
The food was really good! Seafood was fresh and the taste was nice! I felt very relax and enjoyed their view. Its a nice restaurant! Though its quite hard to find their door...haha. We walked around the circle and finally found its door. I didnt take a pic of its door but I saw other people uploaded it. If you see a grey door which looks like a door of an apartment, dont doubt it. Just open it! Apart from these, the price was quite...surprising! We ordered two appetizers, four main courses and four soups. The total cost was up to 250 pounds. But...its Norway!
MoreYou cant give lobster soup then halibut with lobster bisque in a course you organised. The brownie a la carte was good.
MoreMake sure you book early to get a nice table - I was fortunate to get a harbor view and it helps to round out a fine dining experience. Service and food are excellent (and expensive but you already knew that!I had the chefs 3 course which included beet-cured salmon, and a pan fried halibut main. Overall a great treat for a meal in Tromso!
