Fish Company - Seafood restaurant in Reykjavik, Iceland
Most delicious food in Iceland! This restaurant was such a treat to have been to. The food was outstanding and the service was great too! A very home like vibe with very knowledgeable and fun to talk to staff. Would highly recommend!
Amazing fish! The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was nice. 10/10. Make reservations ahead of time. It’s worth it.
Arctic char was excellent, but the fish pan of the day (which was 3 types of pan-fried fish (ling, cod, plaice?with bok choy and artichoke leaveswas very salty. The Arctic char was perfect so it’s not like everything is over salted here, which made it just a bit disappointing.
This place was truly an amazing place. I had the 5 course meal paired with 5 wines. I have been to places where they never paired the right wines totally. This place was Nail on. Plus the wait staff and chef were so nice and friendly. From start to finish I was so pleased with everything and would go back again and again.
Every starter was pristine and the fish of the day melted in your mouth like butter. The best fish I had in my life! Whenever you are in Reykjavik, be sure to put in a reservation because their quality is fantastic and they stay busy. Trust me... You will NOT be disappointed!
Great atmosphere and music, great service and food 👍👍 the truffle egg and the 3 course fish meal were top notch
Absolutely fantastic! Not one complaint. Seafood was superb and portions were perfect. Can’t wait to dine in again. Indoor/outdoor seating both have great different vibes. Fairly priced.
Fabulous meal, excellent service. Highly recommend!
Sushi was fresh and nice but not exceptional. I found a disconnect between the ambiance and menu. Too much paraphernalia on the plate. The fish did not stand out
This was the first restaurant we visited after arriving 🇮🇸, we loved the atmosphere and the staff was extremely nice and attentive. The sushi plate was an experience to remember, with truffle-infused mayo and fresh ginger 💯
This restaurant is absolutely charming. The staff are friendly and the service is impeccable. Most of all the food is absolutely scrumptious. It was so good we dined there twice in one week. The lobster soup and lobster salad were both worthy of my five star rating.
Probably the best seafood meal I’ve ever had. And I’ve eaten a lot in my lifetime. Don’t be afraid of the price. You won’t need to eat for at least 12 more hours.
Fantastic sushi with an amazing around the world menu. I would have ordered one of everything if I could! Highly recommend and make reservations early! Place is small and fills fast.
Really delicious food presented in a creative style. Excellent waiter service. Cool setting. Came back one year later and the good is still excellent!
I chose this restaurant as I was curious about the gastronomic scene in Iceland. In short, the food was mediocre, the wine pairing was sub-standard, and the service was disappointing. I got a table at 9:30 pm and the restaurant wasnt very busy. I wanted to ask about the menu but nobody paid attention to me for at least 10 minutes even though I was waving my hand many times. With this bad start, I didnt feel welcomed and couldnt enjoy the meal. So my review can be a bit biased.I went for the Around Iceland course menu with wine pairing. When they brought me the first dish (cod), they didnt bring me a spoon and the servers attitude was rather cold. When they served the second dish, they served white wine in a hot glass (I think the glass was just taken from the dishwasher). After I complained, they served the wine in a new glass. When the server took the plates, she also took the bread knife, which should remain on the table with the breads. These things can be easily fixed but shouldnt happen in the first place when they advertise themselves as a fine dining restaurant.I could see that they paid much attention to the plating but the food itself wasnt exciting. For example, I didnt think the salmon went well with the sweet apple sauce. The lamb was good but you can find a similar quality dish in many other places.Wine pairing was particularly disappointing. I experienced this in other restaurants in Iceland, so I guess its not only this restaurants issue. The wines they use are generally cheap and too young (2020, 2021and often dont pair well with the dish. I was particularly disappointed by the red (cheap Cotes du Rhone, 2020paired with lamb. Shiraz can go well with lamb but this wine didnt. When they asked me if everything was ok, I gave my honest opinion and they gave me 25% off. I appreciate it but still decided to leave this review in the hope that they improve their service and foods.
Great experience! We came in 30minutes before closing and they were very welcoming. Servers were fun to talk to. We got complimentary appetizer of marinated fish tartare. We also got a fish if the day and Moroccan date and barley dish. For dessert we got a brownie with ice cream and caramel sauce. We had lovely evening here and the food was spectacular.
We had a special day with my wife. It was one of the best meal we had ever eaten. Service was also so nice. They explained every meal like what they have inside. Extremly recommend
Best meal we had in the city. Rich flavors and wonderful service. The martinis were delicious too. Will definitely go back.
One of the best restaurants we dined at in all of Iceland. Enticing and delicious menu, I enjoyed absolutely everything I had and the service was impeccable. Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Reservations are strongly suggested. The sushi was an unexpected delight. The reindeer carpaccio is a must try if you enjoy similar dishes.
Excellent! Delicious, fresh fish
We had two appetizers, they were both incredible. Then we each had a fish entree, the salted cod and a fish special that featured three kinds of fish. Both meals and appetizers were out of this world. The bread was great, the wine was great. Our waitress was Kristin, she was awesome, it was the ultimate dining experience.
We had the Arctic char skillet and the fish and chips. The place is quite popular. You order at the counter, and your food is out quickly.
This is a a really good fish and seafood restaurant, with friendly helpful staff. The sushi is really good and they have a good selection of drinks. They are quite busy so a reservation is a good idea. Recommended.
This place is fantastic. Very nice interior and even when it’s full the walls seem to absorb the noise. It is high-end, but the price is appropriate for the portion sizes and the detail in the presentation of the food, which tasted superb. We went for the fish, but they offer meat and other options, too. Love it!
We tasted the gourmet menu: 5 different courses. It was absolutely delicious and stunning. The atmosphere was very cosy and the service very kind and professional.Absolutely to be recommended.
took the sushi platter. The fish was fresh n delicious. You can never beat Japan rice but Fish company fared ok with rice. I took all the fish off and ate it sashimi style(no ricedelicious. Try the Yuzu cocktail(very lite on iceThe cook gave us fish tartar. Very good similiar to Hawaiis "Poke" Great waitress
In a historical old building, Fish Company welcomes you with a cozy homey atmosphere..almost like dining in a friend’s home. The service was good and the tasting menu interesting. While some of the dishes were good, others not so much. The dishes albeit creative and interesting, they were inconsistent and some just fell flat.
Very good fish restaurant lovely atmosphere and very nicely cooked food.Whilst everywhere in Iceland is expensive this one seems relatively reasonable with some very good set menus. Well worth a visit.
Having been to dill and disappointed expectations were low for another tasting menu in reykjavik. I was wrong! This place is excellent. Went for the 4 course menu as didnt fancy the Xmas menu with reindeer carpaccio. Nice joke but not for me. The food here however was really really good. 4 lovely plates of food and a clear thought process and design behind each. Highly recommend this place and their tasting menu options. Negroni also very good. Thanks for a great dinner
The food was good, atmosphere was nice, and staff was attentive. Our favorite part of the meal was the appetizer shown in the picture - we all loved it. I’m holding back a star because the rest of the meal didn’t keep up or get better and then the bill was expensive even by what I was expecting for Iceland.
Amazing starters including complementary bread/ butter and seed mixture. Loved it.Then the waiter recommended reindeer starter. That was just delicious. We had the catch of the day as mains. Really nice. We would definitely go there again next time when we visit Iceland. Great friendly staff.
I really like this place and especially grouping the food by country of origin. Fish (huge portionwas really fresh and the desert was delicious!
One of the best restaurants in the city. The fish was very good and I really recommend to try the reindeer carpaccio!
Cant recommend a meal here enough. Very friendly service (they let us come back just for dessert as we were too full after lunch). The whipped butter is devilishly good - so smart pairing it with granola. The cured salmon starter was tasty, though the rye bread crumbs were too hard for my liking. The Arctic char and cod were both sublime - original flavours, seasonal, and generous portions. The blondie with skyr was less pretty, but equally moreish.
Food is excellent - wine selection by the glass is not so. Some of the dishes a bit busier then they needed to be. Simplicity goes a long way.
Incredible tasting food! Lovely ambience and great service! Do pay a visit
Always way too warm inside this restaurant. Very very expensive, bottle of Peroni beer is 1.650 kr ($13). They like to sou vide everything so you will think it’s perfectly cooked. But meat rather feels like it’s mashed. Tourists love this place, think it’s very authentic. It’s not.
Delicious fine dining with incredible service. If youre from the States, check out this amazing restaurant. The gravlox appetizer, lamb entre, and skyr dessert were impeccable.
Excellent food quality and service. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, is that I found my dessert to be a bit of a disappointment compared to the other dishes I had. Pricey, but worth it for the experience and the quality and care in the ingredients and preparation. Lovely atmosphere and building.
What an amazing experience! My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at this location and it was hands down one of the best dinners we ever had. That night the restaurant pulled it off completely. Besides tasty food, we got to enjoy a wonderful, personal service by our waiter. It was funny, individual, and yet absolutely professional…just the perfect combination. This location might be pricey, but compared to many other restaurants in Iceland you certainly get a great value.Would I return: absolutely and I would recommend it to any friend/relative that is visiting the city.Btw.: they don’t only offer fish dishes as the name might derive.
Amazing dinner! Some of the best food Ive had in a while. It was a pretty dark, hot and slow in there but food was phenomenal. Highly recommend.
As we were looking for a nice place to get some really good fish dishes, we found this place on google. We were welcomed warmly. After ordering starters and main dishes we got a little greeting from the kitchen. The food we had was amazing. We experienced totally new ways of combining ingredients to whole new elements. The use of hazelnut with salmon and cucumber… salad with green apple and different components of pistachios… yuzu with peas… and classics like ponzu with tuna…Perfectly cooked fish rounded everything up and bound it together. Thanks a lot for this experience!
Amazing food, and wonderfully warm service!I was pleasantly delighted by all of the flavors. The catch of the day was deliciously flaky fish, a trio of Salmon, Arctic charr, and Wolffish on a beurre blanc sauce. Together with homemade mash potatoes and morel mushroom mousse. The dessert felt fresh! A great dessert to embody the flavors of Iceland. Some Icelandic skyr with sorrel syrup, and a blueberry & hazelnut sorbet. It was heavenly!
The BEST food in Reykjavik! Kudos to the chef for this culinary experience. Highly recommend you ask about Fish of the Day. For us, they had 3 types of fish all prepared different ways. I would have this meal again anywhere and anytime
Great experience, great food, and great service. Everything about it was very satisfying and I couldnt ask for more. Its a middle to high end restaurant so expect prices to be up there, but I think the food is worth it. Will definitely come back again.
This is perhaps the best fish restaurant in Reykjavik, although they do have fine meet as well. I loved the reindeer carpaccio. Excellent service as well.
A bad experience. The restaurant is so beautiful and the service is good (except one waitress who is talking so loud, she should work at American Style, she does not fit at all in this fancy restaurant). The lobster soup is really good. But...The fish of the day was 3 fishes in a plate, with a lot of salt. I had the feeling to eat salt and rasp. I could not know the real taste of the fish. The tiramisu was fade. No sugar in it. No taste. Texture like a mousse and not a cream.
First, amazing service. The story of the restaurant is true, amazing food under the bridge. Beautiful combination of flavours. Too much going on the plate but actually works very well. The price of the wine is a bit overpriced but hey we are on Iceland, what do you expect!
Tried their tasting menu. Food presentation is very good but the taste is very disappointing. All the fish dishes are very salty for my liking. Service is average. When taking order, we have confirmed with waitress that if the menu consists of any beef as my wife does not take beef. But to our surprise, one of the dish is beef tartare. Luckily they able to replace the dish with salmon tartare.
