Fish Bar El Pulpo in Dubrovnik

Awesome!!!! So good! The sea food is fresh and very tasty, staff are very helpful and the inner court has a great atmosphere. The mixed starter for 2 was great with octopus salad and tuna Mayo being the highlights…for the mains we had to lobster pasta and black pasta bake - both were very tasty. Can’t wait to be back!

Wow, a real gem and here in Dubrovnik. Great and genuine croatian food for a very reasonable price! Very friendly staff too, Im not sure about this but it seems like a family owned restaurant and that they all work there together. It gave me a homely feeling. Crowded (and I can obviously understand why), but still very cozy.

Price was acceptable. The taste was very good. The service was perpect.

Really nice place and friendly staff. The fishmeals had a good quality 😋 and price was really fair. Also the served bread was fresh and delicious and the pear liqueur was good too 😉

We found it by a total accident and were disappointed that we did it so late! Went there twice and can definitely recommend it! Tasty local food - seafood and fish, and very welcoming and polite service. Before leaving every guest is served with a shot of pear liquor . Prices are reasonable and place has nice terrace behind the restaurant.

Great place. We took the seafood platter for 2. Loved it. There were all sort of seafood to try. It was all delicious and I liked that there were grilled vegetables insted of fries.

The fish is really fresh and delicious, and the price is not too expensive. Best restaurant nearby and very much enjoyed.

Stumbled upon this restaurant and the food was so great we came back again the following night for dinner. The fish was so fresh and flavours were balanced. We left satisfied both times and I dont think you would get a bad item on the menu. If you like seafood, this is the place to be. Very relaxed dining. Top notch seafood!

Not very satisfied and quite shocked by the overall note. I ordered a risotto with seafood and my partner a fish in the oven and both were blend and without taste. I dont think it was fresh fish.. I added so much salt and still wasnt enough. Im sorry because the staff is super nice and helpful but I really dont recommend this place due to the food and especially considering the high prices...

Very nice and busy restaurant. I ordered the spicy brodet it was very tasty and fresh.

Cozy and homy lunch and dinner spot with a cute outdoor terrace in close proximity to Lapad Beach. A good choice if you want to sample local seafood: squid, fish, shrimp etc. We had El Pulpo Salad (Grilled Octopus Salad), Fishermans Risotto and Fish and Chips (suitable for kids and adults alike). Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. House white wine paired well with our seafood choices. Dont worry if you dont speak much Croatian as the personnel at El Pulpo speaks near perfect English.

We had lunch there and came back next day for dinner 🥘What can I say, they hired a great chef !!!I always struggle with if it comes to a good seafood taste. lol just can’t cook it properly and it can easily be spoiled in wrong hands , no mater how fresh is it.Here was perfect:oysters, tuna tartar, grilled fish, squid and octopus. Tuna steak was perfect. Main dishes came with mix of salad, boiled potatoes and grilled vegetables in a perfect amount that suited the protein dish. I could feel good olive oil there as well.Highly recommend, I wish I could try more dishes there , they all looked amazing 🤩

Fish and Chips was good, very disappointed with the Aperol Spritz as it was watered down (it was not cheap either). Not sure if they are trying to make a lot of profit from the portion they are serving, but one of the factor we went there was for a nice cold Aperol Spritz after a hot day, was really disappointed with the outcome.

Lovely family run restaurant. The staffs are very welcoming and it’s very nice to sit in the shade at the back terrace for lunch. The food was so tasty that I’ve been to this place twice for lunch, highly recommended!

Amazing food and fresh selections. After a day at the beach i landed here and have no regrets. Will def come back

Really nice place. Very friendly staff. We started with the Appetizer for Two, which was fantastic. Then we had the grilled octopus and mussels. The octopus was perfect!!

Just amazing. Went there 2 times, ate around 5 dishes and all of them were amazing. The place looks chill and for lunch it was an amazing setting. Many people go there for lunch so it might take a bit for you to get the food but it is worth it. Really amazing food and kind people who work there.

Look at the size of the platter! The seafood is so fresh and the sardines salad was refreshing. Definitely too much food for 2 persons but really enjoyed the meal.Do make reservations in advance as the restaurant is really popular.

I reserved a table for two at 18.00 and we arrived on time. Got to sit down and so far so good.I ordered 3 oysters, calamari for main and a fish and chip for my son.I got oyster after 15 min. This was OK but the oysters did not feel ice cold which I was expecting.It took neerly 30+ min for our food to arrive. Now my calamari was bearly warm. Like it had been sitting for a while meanwhile my sons fish and chip was piping hot.What stood out for me was the taste of the food was truly amazing 5/5 meanwhile the lack of detail was what was missing.Example is: food nearly cold and fish and chip while very tasty had loads of bones in.Overall not impressed and loads of improvements but I think the one thing which speaks for this resturant is spices and herbs and ingridients they use.

Not a bad evening, but a bit disappointing compared to our expectations.Food was a bit bland (Seafood risottobut reasonably priced compared to other seafood places in Dubrovnik. Drinks not bad either.Service was a bit slow, and felt ignored at times but this might be due to how busy it was due to popularity. It is a well priced place for the location.Overall there are places Id go back to before here, but other peoples food did look nice, so Id try other things. Worth a go if youre looking for a seafood restaurant!

Fresh and great tasting seafood! 🐙Best seating is in the back garden, under the citrus trees, but better to book in advance in the evenings. Friendly staff with good English. Even got a complementary shot of Kruskovac (Pear Liqueur).

Delicious food, kind service and very fair cost benefit, all you can wish! I really recommend the grilled octopus and the big well served fish plate for two. 😋 the house white wine is easy and fresh. In three days stay in Dubrovnik we ate here 3 times. 👍🏻👏🏻

This fish bar was recommended by our hotel host and we love it! We went there twice during our stay in Lapad Dubrovnik. The food was fresh and delicious but not too pricey. Servers were friendly. They have a terrace at the back which was very lovely during the summer time. Highly recommend!

This is my absolute favourite place in Dubrovnik. They have the best service with the sweetest people working there. The food is fantastic. Their calamari is the best of the best. Their terrace area is the perfect shaded spot during a hot summer day. My partner and I ended up going 4 times in a row because it was so good!

YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! OMG….the best seafood I’ve had in a long while! Real nice vibes, nice family friendly restaurant great staff and service. Will definitely visit again and highly recommended this place.

Very delicious and fresh food. The tuna is very soft and little bit spicy with onions. The fish patty seems to be grilled and is also soft and delicious. The price is not expensive compared with other restaurants in old town.

What a place! The best fresh fish and seafood bar in the area 🥰 we went there two times and were disappointed that we discovered this place so late in our stay. The place was always busy but your kind waiter always tried to find us a place. Very nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Not too long waiting time. We were sat very close to open kitchen which was busy as hell! The food… oh the food… it was the best dream come true of local seafood. Not to mention drinks and queen of Croatian dessert:5 star! Nothing less. Very reasonable pricing for food and alcohol. Thank you for great experience!

Beautiful terrace in the shade and the place its an absolute gem a bit far from the noisy and crowded old town. The food is absolutely delicious. We had the sea bass and red sniper and both were incredibly tasty. Highly recommend the place, also the staff is super nice.

Looks can be deceiving. This family restaurant has a big secret - great seafood perfected over the years. If you try it just once I guarantee that you will be back for more.

Lobster pasta and seafood risotto were good. Just wished the lobster and prawn were fresh and the service was better.

Nice fish resto.Im giving it 5 stars because the grilled sardines they serve are actually cleaned up from the interiors...that is soooo rare nowadays.The salad is very good and the whole grilled fish platter a must.Bread is good tooAttentive service and decent prices .

Stellar. Probably my best eating experience in Dubrovnik. I am not too keen on seafood but thought I would try something new, and it blew me away.This was really excellent, and the service was really great, they were so friendly.

Excellent seafood, great wines and friendly laid-back staff. We were in Dubrovnik to pay soccer and have a weekend away but this lunch was definitely a highlight. All credit to our player Dejan though, who had worked in Dubrovnik before and knew where El Pulpo was. From outside, it looks like a very ordinary cafe. But its a different world when you pass through to the shaded garden.

Like someone wrote before, these were the best fish dishes in a long time. Lovely terrace. Friendly team. I really regret not having taken any photos, but the black tagliatelle with seafood deserves all its reputation in previous reviews. The grilled sea bass fillet was really tasty as well. It is specially nice to look for unique eating places ahead of your trip, read the reviews and then confirm it was worth of your time (and money). This is one of those cases for sure. A little gem of a restaurant. Lovely quaint setting in the garden terrace. Very friendly & welcoming. I had the brochet to start which was excellent, four different slices of bread & four different types of fish. For main the Lobster in pasta was perfectly cooked & fresh with great flavours. Great food at a very reasonable price. Much higher quality of food than the restaurants nearby on the promenade & better value to!

Best seafood in town! Ate at many places during our week in Dubrovnik and hands down our best meal! Quaint terrace out back set the mood right from the start.

El Pupo isnt the most conveniently located however it makes up for the awesome food. Again, seafood is widely available in Dubrovnik but this place isnt a tourist trap. It serves highly authentic and quality food. A gem and i would highly recommend to anyone visiting this city.

What a nice place to dine . There are so many tourist traps but this one is nice . We ordered grill octopus / fish and chips and tune tartar. All delicious and very professional service.

Came by after a workout midday to refuel. Had the mussels and a glass of Prosecco. The mussels were amazing! They also serve them with a bowl of crispy potatoes that are some of the best I’ve ever had. So happy to have found this spot, I may be back for dinner!

It was unforgettable seafood. The restaurant is styled like some hidden place for locals in Spain or somewhere in South America so its not the restaurant you shall choose for formal or luxury dinner. But it was definitely the best seafood Ive tried in Dubrovnic(or even in whole Croatia. Its not about size of the portion or fancy servings. It is just about very high quality of seafood. The grilled octopus was so soft and fresh you dont even need to use a knife(the same for grilled calamari). Mixed sea plate for starters was also exceptionally good. So I would definitely recommend it.

Quite small restaurant but with a garden, they were nice and made a seat for us even if we hadnt booked.Food was good, fish was fresh. Especially good the black tagliatelle, sauce was amazing. There was also the possibility to get oysters, not included in the menu.Overall a nice experience, service was really nice but a bit slow.
